Everywhere the light from a nearby moon touched the asteroid, small purple glowing mushrooms sprouted on the surface. It was very pretty, especially in the areas that the moonlight [i]always[/i] touched where the mushrooms grew to be at least 10 feet tall. [i]I'll have to take a sample back to HQ.[/i] Jake reckoned. He dug a small spade out of his suit and shoveled a tiny sample into a plastic bag, which he placed back in his suit. He pulled out a black recording device and clicked the button on the side. "It seems as though the... mushrooms are actually living creatures. They grow by absorbing any light source or energy. They also seem to be able to pull this energy from large distances, taking all the light away from Base #023 making it appear like something was stealing the actually energy when really it was just the light." Jake paused. "I think... it would be best if I didn't bring a sample." He took the plastic bag and dumped the remains on the ground. He watched as the mushrooms burrowed back in the ground. [i]Don't want these fellers stealing my headlights, hah.[/i] "The best way to deal with this problem would be to blow up the asteroid." he told the recording device. "...oh my..."
