Really I think all his movies are crap. All that drama build up then poof, it's machinery!
Though we could do a whole thread on him I do have to say the Idea of the Villiage was a good one, the follow through was dissapointing to say the least. I can't fully agree with The Happening being a bad movie, again it was a great concept that's poorly excecuted. I think if M. Night would get involved with a company with good production quality, his movies would be much better. Okay topic at hand....really didn't have much to add. Though I still don't think ANYBODY should be offended, of course the casting director's comments (igorant as they may be) were not meant to offend in anyway. Though Korean's and Japanesse alike would be offended no matter what was said (From what I learned while being TDY over there, neither one cares for the other)

After that last trailer I'm even more psyched. I'm not sure when the release date for FF XIII was pushed back to again, but I'm not really worried. For it seems Star Ocean is going to be a series I can believe in again (Since Final Fantasy has lost its way....)

[OFFICIAL] The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2008 - Nominations
Drizzt Do'urden replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
Who is it? Eclipsed Dreamer (Currently Monark): The first was my personal favorite. Why is she? Chibi-master said it all, but I'd like to add the "I will Squish you" PM's that were sent everyday that somebody didn't post in her RP. Who is it? Allamorph Why is he? I started trying my hand (I emphasize TRYING) at writing stories in the anthologies section. Of course with not being very familiar with anybody, my first story wasn't receiving ANY critiques so I was adding and adding and adding. Thanks to a suggestion to the basement cat, and some heavy convincing, the anthologies double-posting rule was born. What is it? The Lounge Why is it? It's hard to find a single person, heck even a group of people, that you can debate ANYTHING with. There have been so many stong debates, fueled by the most opinionated people in the world. I've been agree'd with, and beaten to a pulp by the greatest people I know. What's amazing about the OB lounge in particular is no matter how hard you fight somebody, no matter how many insults to your very intelligence due to your opionion on a matter are thrown your way. The same people that destroy you, will turn around and back you up in another thread. And finally Who is she? Nessaja Why is she? There's not a person out there who cares more than Nessaja. I speak of particularly the Theater, where you will find her most often. When everybody gives up on an RP, she steps up and tries her darndest to make it work. Even when it's not her RP, I can't say how many times she's tried to help me in the theater. Also, she's just a hella-cool person. -
I was just curious if there was anyway to take down the number of posts before you could rate somebody else. I understand the worries of....I believe "Post-Rappeing" was the best term I've seen used. But rating 25 different people can sometimes be a stretch, unless you go back into the older posts I suppose. I have to agree with Petie that the regulars we have at OB are above that sort've behavior, I know we have some new members and that breeds some concern I'm sure. So a couple of questions, or things to think about may be better. 1.) Making the feature only available to Members as opposed to New Members, (I think the standing is 100 posts to become a member?) that ensures that a person is at least ACTUALLY interested in being an active member. 2.) Allowing guests to rate posts, I know most guests are just using search engines and hitting the OB for one reason or another. Are you planning on allowing guests to rate posts? Just a couple of things to clarify, also to add when do you think this would be implemented. I read mention of the next version of OB, but alas my member status keeps me out of the loop as to when the site is due for update.
Fun fact of the day: It costs taxpayers more money to give someone the death penalty than it does to imprison them for life.
I pretty much covered my views on the death penalty in my last post, but since somebody had to rebuke me I figured I'd add a tid-bit of knowlege. Without proof you have no argument. Without proof I can say that all those in favor of abolishing the death penalty are from the dwarf planet Pluto. I can argue to my hearts content, but without proof I have nothing. So what I'm saying is get proof of this, THEN, forget about posting it because I'm sure you are right IF. The person who is on death row gets an inordinate amount of appeals and sits on said row for many years. Solution, modify Texas' "express lane" service. 2 appeals or less ONLY in this lane. Plus if you think of somebody who's spending life in prison. What happens if they appeal over and over and over and over and over? Then how does it cost more to shoot them up with some nice sleeping meds and a nice long nap?

Well I really didn't get to into the article but I guess you could always look at it as the Avatar itself, while specifically is about the 4 elements, is really about diversity in itself. People from different countries who look different working together for a common goal.... Now I guess that's one way to look at it, I do have to agree with Pheonix when he says that it's most likely unintentional. That movie isn't going to be great, that much is true. More then likely it will tank and be one of the many movies that spends about a week in theatres and then is in the $5 DVD bin at your local Walbogs. So getting worked up over it is pointless. I say if you're offended, go to the premiere dressed as your favorite character and buy tickets for the other movies. That'll show umm....

Wow chibi, I'm really stumped. I have a guess but I think I'm going to wait on one more clue....
-
I doubt we'll ever know what truly warped Azula, my guess would be it started as a sibling rivalry. Then evolved when she had difficulties taking down the Avatar, that sort've took her 'down to Zuko's level'. Of course that only escalated as the number of escapes increased and the number of failed battles with the Avatar increased. To me they did a pretty good job of showing her descent into madness, without making it a plot point.

RPG Konoha Chronicles - The Torn Earth [M - V, L]
Drizzt Do'urden replied to Adas's topic in Theater
"Congratulations!" Okaru's jaw hit the floor. For a moment he'd thought they all three were going to have to go back to the gennin academy. It seemed like a board jounin didn't want to deal with a group of young students like them, but here Matsuda had been right all along. "This test was obviously not about pure skill, and I'm glad that you all figured it out. Well at least most of you." Ryokotsu-sensei shot Okaru a look that took all the enjoyment out of the moment, a look that once again made him feel like he did when he was being beaten at every angle a few minutes ago. "It looks like my duds may have something in them." Ryokotsu continued in that sarcastic tone Okaru had familiarized himself with. "Today's lesson is over, but tomorrows will be more difficult. Go home, get some rest, and congratulations on a good first dat Matsuda." Ryokotsu turned and slowly walked away, now he seemed himself. He seemed uncaring, unmotivated, but they all knew now there was MUCH more then meets the eye with this sensei. Okaru put his hand on Matsuda's shoulder and squeezed. "I don't know how you got all those traps set without Ryokotsu noticing, and I don't know how you figured everything out. But thanks...." Okaru couldn't beleive himself, those words, those words he'd scrapped after all his life. Those words he longed to here, praisfull words that hurt Okaru to hear somebody else receive, even when they came out of his lips. Hotaru was the next one to congratulate Matsuda, "Good thinking Matsuda, except next time fill us in earlier." Okaru wasn't sure if it was how obvious it was that she would be the one to say that. Or if they all felt a little more comfortable with each other, and maybe just maybe they were becoming a team. Okaru didn't know which it would be, but he waved goodbye to his...teamates as they made their way home. Okaru couldn't bare the thought of explaining the test, and explaining why he couldn't get a bell by himself. His father wouldn't understand, to his father the concept of a team meant nothing. Teams were just cannon fodder to him, and normally Okaru would have agreed. But there was just something he couldn't erase about the whole thing. Okaru instead found the clearing where he and Hoto beat Chozo down and trained with each other. It was here he would make his bed for the night, it was here he was at peace. -
Now I have a ?, it may come off as stupid but does anybody know if they're planning on doing anything past book 4?
-
Well I don't know if you could get everyone in the OB on board to participate, but you could go with a 'post rating system'. Something that everypost would have that every other member could click on giving said person a rating. Sort've like the polls I guess in which one person could only vote once either thumbs up or thumbs down. Then after 5-10 votes the average would be figured up and rating would be given. It could also go as far as to have a certain icon rating system for the amount of quality posts a person has. Sort've like a military ranking structure, private, corporal, all the way up to 4star general. (of course I'm not suggesting using military ranks, just something similar.)
Humans are capable of error, even the "good" ones. Also, have you ever been in prison? It's one of the worst places to be, where rapists and murderers will more likely than not get what's coming to them. The most important thing is to keep people safe from offenders, which might mean spending tax dollars to keep them locked up or to treat them. But then again, our society made them the way they are anyway, so I guess what goes around comes around.
Okay where to begin, we'll start with the first point you made. IF a human chooses to cold bloodedly murder somebody, then by definition they are not one of the "good" ones. If somebody kills another in a mutual fight, or something of the matter. Defending themselves, or another then they may be a "good" person, and will most likely not be convicted of anything. Depending on the circumstances they may receive a few years in prison but they won't be considered for the death penalty. By the by, I used to work in corrections so I do know what goes on in the inside of a prison. They're no longer like the Shaw Shank Redemption in which the prison's are a breeding ground for more murderers. Does it happen? Well of course it does, but not very often. That brings me to your third point, which basically says to me that we should spend OUR tax dollars to keep the prisoners in solitary confinment for the rest of their lives? And I'm sorry, no matter how much society sucks, society didn't make them murderers. Their own decisions did, and don't give me this crap about unemployment and the economy. Peoples own decisions dictate what they do with some parental influence. So killing somebody who without a doubt killed somebody else? Yes, and note I put without a doubt, if there is any for one they shouldn't have been convicted by a jury, and two if their is any doubt they should be sentenced to life in prison so they have a chance to appeal. Okay now on to the most ridiculous part, you mentioned what if somebody repents in prison. Well I purposly neglected to save that part of the quote due to the ridiculousness of it. IF said person repents then, 1 there was something to repent in the first place, and 2 they will go to heaven anyways so we will be doing them a favor. Eternal paradise and the like.....

I don't know if I'd say it's like immortality. Unless i'm mistaken the movies about something happening to him in which he grows old, and then said thing happens and allows him to grow young again. Really it's essentially life, but you'd have to fear getting young since just like getting old that means the end is growing near. I'll check this out if the reviews are good enough, otherwise it'll be the dvd release I'll wait for.
-
This will probably be a dvd for me, I'll save my theatre time for the next Friday the 13th movie (though since Jason X came out, it's pretty much certain that no matter what they won't finally stop him.). If it's true that Kate Beckinsale only has a small pat then it's a for sure dvd movie, if that. Be sure to give us a little taste after you go see it Raiha
-
Well death is just unavoidable sometimes. Why should somebody who rapes and murders young women and children (just an example) be allowed to spend the rest of his life not ever having to worry about the struggles of life. The person sentenced to life in prison knows that he'll get 3 square meals a day, get plenty of outdoor time to do with what he pleases. He/she will get to watch televison, an hour of computer time a day, It just doesn't seem fair to me that children that lose their parents to cold blooded murder have to struggle and suffer while their parents killer gets to lounge around. I'm all for the death penalty, as far as the argument goes about us as humans deciding who dies and who doesn't. For one, they felt they could do that and deserve it in return, and for two they show no regard for human life they deserve that in return as well.

Well we have a first round winner it looks like. Desertphoenix was correct, I apologize for not giving a second clue, but I didn't want to just go in and edit my post with the hopes that enough people are going to check. The correct answer was Guts from Berserk, it's now desertphoenix's turn. In case phoenix hasn't gone in 72 hours, I'll pm one of the others who guessed to take over his turn. (If 72 hours doesn't seem fair then I can adjust it a bit).

It just HAD to be German, an enemy tank could've been ripped to shreds in a matter of seconds. It seemed there would be no time to get acquainted with the newcomer, hopefully she would be trustworthy. "Uschi, have you fully recovered?" Malice could feel the tug of his feral side as the familiar taste of anger and hatred welled up inside of him. She nodded though her eyes said she was still hurting. "When i tell you too, run in front of the tank as fast as you can, just make sure they see you." Uschi nodded and stood up, as she did Malice took a position beside her and allowd his feral side to fully take hold. The anger and hatred of mankind was almost too much for him to handle, and for a second he thought he was going to lose control. "Uschi NOW!" she hesitated just a moment, apparently his voice changed a lot more then he had thought when he was in wolven form. Uschi took off like a bat out of hell, running in front of the tank fast enough to get their attention, but not to fast as to allow the giant turret to get a bead on her. That was when Malice made his move; As fast as he could he ran up on the tank and lept upon the tank. Gripping the hatch with both hands Malice wrenched up on the hatch with such force that the hinges themselves gave way and the small doorway ripped open. Quickly reverting back to his human form, he lept into the tank. In the small control room, Malice stared at 4 very obviously confused German soldiers. "I'm sorry to barge in, but you're shooting at my friends." In a single move malice drew one of his blades, swung into a circular motion and severed the heads off all 4 Germans. He basked for just a moment in the spray of blood that ensured forth. That's when the radio came on, as the German voice on the otherside went through his message all the color lept from Malice's face. Back outside Malice was met by Uschi and Rodica. Malice was amazed at how a minute ago Uschi seemed hurt, but now was all business. "Looks like you should've let Rodica take the tank out with that grenade, the German's are declaring this facility lost to the "enemy", they're launching an airstrike at this moment. We have about 5 minutes before this facility is rubble, we have to find the others." Malice awaited Uschi's orders, though he was already sure what they would be.

RPG Konoha Chronicles - The Torn Earth [M - V, L]

Okaru sat in the clearing trying to catch his breath. I...I can't do it. Ryokotsu is just too strong. Wait...where are the others? Okaru stood on his feet and scanned the area, he finally pinpointed the chakra signatures of his two teamates. They were together....Okaru's face went flush as the thought entered his head. They're planning on coming out when I rush sensei and getting the bells for themselves. No it isn't going to happen like this, I won't fail...I can't fail. Okaru stood again, he was genuinley zapped of energy, but his new sense of urgency gave him a small boost. He quickly formed two new clones and lept into the bushes. He knew sensei would be on his guard, but he didn't care. He began running in a clockwise pattern throught he bushes around the clearing, after a full lap okaru and his clones dove. The clones landed and were gone with a small puff of air, Okaru himself landed in the clearning next to Hotaru and Matsuda. "I want in on whatever you guys are planning. I can't keep this up much longer by myself." Okaru knelt down and ignored the look he got from Hotaru. Apparently she didn't like him barging in, now they were all three in one spot, and it wasn't like they were actually hiding from Ryokotsu sensei. None of them could yet fully hide their chakra signature, and it seemed ridiculous to Okaru if they didn't know that. Matsuda shot him a look and motioned to the clearing, Okaru didn't pretend to understand. It made no sense to him, but Matsuda was one of the most knowledgeable of the gennin, he may not have been the strongest, but okaru would never question his intelligence. He had something planned, Okaru just had to figure out how to make it work to his advantage. -
A story has been past down for many generation about a group of people taking a bus trip. You see, they were all members of a certain forum website, and were taking a trip into the woods. Why were they taking this trip? Nobody to this day knows, but one things for sure. None of them that returned EVER were the same. The story begins as the bus full of anime addicts, videogame vultures, movie monsters, reeking roleplayers, story telling sicko's, and curent event creeps pulls into the abandoned camp ground 100 miles into the deepest forest in a state that won't be named in order to keep anyone else from venturing in the same way they did. Drizzt I got off the bus to find that our "modern" campsite we were promised, was no more than a small cleared out area in the middle of the woods. A shower building sat up the hill a couple hundred yards up the road we traveled from. A single water collecting tower next to it sent the promise of hot running water out the window, and it seemed the others getting off the bus were as unimpressed as I am. "Damn, what happened to all the modern comforts Allamorph promised?" You see, the basement cat himself had set the trip up for those who ventured in to his forum. Hopefully an explaination would come out of him, as soon as anyone could find him. He was the first one off the bus a moment ago, but where had he gone? A chilling howl could be heard in the distance; Nightfall seemed fast approaching. I turned to the bus in order to secure a couple others to venture in and find some firewood while the others got the tents set up. Hopefully they could beat the chilly fall night, hopefully..... An old time campfire ghost story written by OB members, about OB members. I'm sure we all played the game when we were younger, one person starts telling the story and at certain moments the next person in line "buzzes" themselves in and takes over. This is for people of all writing styles, though I think we should stick with first person to keep the "point of view" going. At the begining of every post, please do what I did and post your name above your post. As far as length, it really doesn't matter. Just when you get to a point that you want somebody else to jump in on just end your post with ........ I think to avoid somebody from jumping to far, or wasting a post we should go with 3-5 paragraphs. 2-6 absolute min/max, if we don't have many participants we can always adjust accordingly. No posting order, just try and leave time for everyone to post. Maybe try post every 2 days if we are getting a lot of people. This is a collab, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to post them on here so we can decide on rules....oh and as far as rules don't kill anybody off...right now...I'll work up a system for this later.
-
I was thinking of a new game based on something I had posted awhile ago. The rules are simple; 1.) I will give a few clues about a character from either movies, television, videogames, or a real life person. 2.) The category will be given in the first post along with a small set of clues. 3.) Anybody playing can give 1 guess at the answer. 4.) If nobody guesses correctly after 24 hours I will post another clue and so on until somebody gets it right. 5.) The first person who guessed correctly will be adderssed in a post and will be allowed to take over the role as "host", giving the category and clues. Failure to comply by the 1 guess per clue set will result in your guesses being canceled out until somebody else guesses correclty and takes over. I know this isn't a typical discussion thread, but I do believe it will be a lot of fun if we get enough participants. I will go ahead and start: Category: Anime Character (For future reference, the # of clues you give is up to your discretion. To avoid a person's turn taking a week, try and give at least 3 clues to open thigns up.) #1- I weild a sword as big as a man #2- I command a group of raiders #3- My sword was only broken once during a full season of my show Good luck, next clue to come at 12:30 A.M. EST

As Saiyan Princess stated the weather in Ohio is horrible, and I'm somebody who likes snow. The problem is the cold, Negative 5 with the windchill I believe. I'm a storm man myself, give me big booms of thunder and torrents of rain. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I was terrified of storms as a child, but sometime during little league baseball ( I believe I was 12) we waited out a hellacious storm to play our championship game, and there was just something about that particularly bad storm that was just so relaxing that it took my fear completly away. As far as hate I hate the weather in the middle east (no offense to anyone from those parts), I was over there in the summer and we peaked at around 132.....uggh. I always thought humidity was what got you....well it does but temps that hot aren't any better.

In these modern days it seems like every country in the world has their own "secret" police force. Men and women whose only concern is following orders and silencing those who would speak or act out against their homeland. The year is 2020 and the United States is in an uproar. On December 31, 2019 a rogue policitican, Sebastian Harlow, raised a small militant army and declared himself the dictator of the US. This is where I come in, my name's Jack, Jack Roberts....or rather Ronald James....or just last week Johnny Rings. I honestly can't say If I remember what my real name is. I've been working for Harlow for the past 8 of my 26 years, as a member of the S.S. A lot of people don't know what the S.S. stands for; Some believe it's a name so sinister that the initials alone are all people can bring themselves to say, others that aren't for the cause give it cute little names like "Sebastian Sucks" or "Son of Satan", those are the ones you don't normally hear from again. All it really stands for is Secret Service, though Secret Army would be more fitting. We're the ones who are in charge of the everyday things, well that's what I've grown to call it. 'Everyday things' consist of mostly assassinations, but sometimes we get to dabble in some larger activities.....though I can't say to much, at least not to an outsider. Outsider? you might ask. Well as of right now that's you, just for fingering me you may not make it out of here. It just depends on how you play your cards. You have something about you, otherwise you wouldn't have been contacted. The bosses see it, but all I see is an outsider who knows to much. If you are interested in joining the fight for Sebastian, then please sign-up here. If this line of work isn't for you then exit and breath not a word, we will be watching. Still if you have beef with Sebastian and wish him ill, I may have a spot for you. Feel free to contact me personally if this last type is you. Now to the rest, thanks for showing interest. Though there are well over 50 of you that have ventured in, a fraction of you will be ready to take up your weapon and kill for our leader. Still, I only need 3-5 brave souls to join the S.S. the rest of you will be notified, and possibly selected for....special tasks. Please feel free to try and bump somebody, we all have our special qualifications, and yours could be picked over somebody else. Also if you feel you've been beaten out, feel free to edit your post accordingly, though I won't tell who's in and who's out until Wednesday, January 28th. So becareful if you edit, you could hang yourself...or at least that's what people will think. Also make sure to contact me with questions, or if you edit your post. We wouldn't want you overlooked now would we? Here is what I need from you, also please be aware you are being watched. I give you that warning in hopes you will heed it, I would hate for something to happen to you. Sign-Ups: Name: First and Last (They will change, but you will see how later) Age: Real men/women only so no younger than 18, no older than 40 Occupation: What you are working at now, we need people of all types so don't be afraid of being yourself. Special Skills: Are you adept with computers? Firearms? Maybe you were trained by the military, maybe you are a demo man for the coal mines. Anything you deem as "special", and they don't have to relate to your job. If you are sneaky and you think you would be a good stealth agent, add this, though you better have something to back it up with. Weapons Proficiency: Nothing particular unless you are bringing your own. We will supply top of the line equipment. We do need to know what you are more proficient at though, are you are close combat melee fighter, short, or long-range gunner. Appearance: Though we have your names, a good description will suffice. If you would like to leave a photograph you may, though it is not neccesary....we will find you. Personality: In an effort to promote equality, and prevent clashes this is very important. About yourself: Tell us who you are and where you came from. Be specific, and include why you want to be part of this organization. Be honest, we will know if you lie...... That's all we need, again contact me if you need anything.....

Anime I need help in finding a new series to watch
Drizzt Do'urden replied to Vigilance's topic in Otaku Central
I'm not real sure on the second season to tell you the truth. I'm playing catch up on it now (writing about it on here gave me a boost and I started watching it almost as soon as I finished the post). I just finished episodes 1-6 again and I forgot how good it was. -
Anime I need help in finding a new series to watch
Drizzt Do'urden replied to Vigilance's topic in Otaku Central
If you want good old sword fighting action I would have to say Beserk is a good way to go. I haven't yet caught the whole series, I'm just recentally getting back into finishing the series' I've started and never finished for one reason or another, and Beserk was one of my all-time favorites.
