1. Usually when the lights go out at my house, it's because of a nice big thunderstorm. Since I live out in the country, about 10kms from the nearest town, our power is only supplied by one set of power lines. These power lines are right next to a long line of gum-trees. So you can assume that our power goes out regularly. Anyhow, my sisters and I usually play poker or blackjack or spoons with each other. Sometimes we play Cheat too (that's the PG version of the name for that game). We use matches for betting and the one that loses all their matches first has to do a nudie run outside. Mind you we start with a lot of matches, so usually it doesn't happen. Other times we just sit on the verandah and watch the lightning. Reminds me of a song. " Out on the patio, we sit. And the humidity, we breathe. We watch the lightning, crack over cane fields. Laugh and think, this is Australia!" ^^
2. All right everyone, hold onto your horses. This is going to be a looooong list. Firstly, I'd like to meet James. Other than he's the head-honcho around these parts, I'd like to know what he actually does for this site and what effort he puts into it. Other than that, he seems like a guy who puts in 110% into OB and has some really creative ideas for RPGs. Then I'd like to meet all my good friends who I talk to on a regular basis. Kairi (who doesn't come on here anymore), demonchild781, Ozymandius Jones, StarrStruck, Kayin (my little bro, well, not really) and Aizen (my Spence-kun :p ). Dragon Warrior and Pumpkin would also be on my list of who to see because they're old people like me. But as DW puts it, we're mature hotties (paraphrasing of course DW ;) ) Then there's my fellow Aussies: Sakura, Illusion and anyone else I forgot (sowwie). Other people who'd I'd like to meet: Delta - because she's a really great person and her design for banners and avis are great and she puts so much effort into them. Plus she loves bishies as much as me! ^_^ Blayze and Sin - because I've participated in RPGs with those two fairly regularly and they're very good at it, always making interesting characters. And them seem like their interesting people themselves. Revelation - although we haven't spoken much lately (probably due to me not using AIM a lot), I would still like to meet her (I think it is a her, sorry Revelation if you're not... I'm not with it). And I think that's it for now. Sorry about the length.
3. Thanks for the offer Blayze. I'll let you know if I need help. I watched 'Las Vegas' last night. I was thinking that the plays might take the positions of authority within a casino and I (and maybe an accomplise) would try and wreak havoc, and they'd have to solve these issues. We'd be playing in real-time sort of. Gah.... it's going to be hella complicated.
4. Touka splashed cold spring water onto her face. The Tiegran had gone in search of somewhere where she could bathe, or at least wash her face in the surrounding forest near the encampment. What she had come across was a small spring with a small stream trickling from the earth, carving its way through the trees. The stream provided only a small amount of water - not enough for Touka to bathe in. After taking a long drink from the stream, Touka stood and stretched. She looked around before heading to the High Commander's war tent. " High Commander?" Touka asked as she arrived at the elaborate tent. " Come in Touka," came a female voice from inside the tent. Touka entered it, bowing her head below eye-level. " Commander Touka, you are to attack the merchant village in the south-eastern part of Kutisok territory. This town is known to make weapons for the Kutisok forces and is also a last stop for forces heading to our southern territories," said the High Commander who was standing over a map in front of Touka. " Yes ma'am." " You are moving out as soon as your soldiers have assembled." " Yes ma'am." " You are dismissed!" Touka bowed her head again and left the tent. As she walked outside, Touka noticed that her soldiers were already assembled with one person missing - Ska. " Where's Ska, Diana?" Touka asked, her tail swishing from side to side a little irritated by her right-hand woman's absence. " She's.... ah...." the wood elf stuttered. They were all told to cover for Ska while she looked for Touka's older sister. " She's .... ah..... gathering some ... stuff." Touka's eyebrow arched. " Stuff? Exactly what kind of stuff?" The soldiers could see that Touka's already-slitted eyes were growing thinner which usually meant she was starting to get very irritated. " She's..." Diana stuttered as Touka came face-to-face with her soldier. " She's getting maps and things." " Ah..." Touka sighed. She stepped away from Diana, who gave a silent sigh of relief. " Anyhow," Touka started. " We are targeting the Kutisok town of Parth. As Lieutenant Ska has informed you, we are moving out as of now. I hope you are all ready." " Yes ma'am!" they all chorused. " Good. We're heading out. Ska will catch us up." Touka twirled her Kiju that she had brought with her. " Let's go." OOC: Random, we'll be on the move when you finish finding Tiana.
5. Name: Trinity Ambrosia Gender: Female Age: 17 Town: Farrow Farrow is a town full of opposites. It is a home to gunslingers as much as it is a hme to bandits and criminals. There is no black and white in this town, only grey. But somehow, it manages not to tear itself apart. Its' reputation has travelled far over the pains to the other gunslinger towns. All in all, Farrow is regarded as an oxymoron of crime and justice. Future Occupation: Gunslinger/Priestess Preferred Weapons: 1. Revolver - Revolver Picture 2. A small cross that turns into a set of four daggers. Appearance: Trinity looks more like a rogue bounty hunter than a gunslinger, let alone a priestess. Wine red eyes with shoulder-length, charcoal black hair with brick-red and burnt-orange streaks standing out against the black. She stands about 5' 8"/5' 9" with a curvy yet tomboyish look about her, which suits her personality perfectly. What Trinity wears doesn't help her look like a priestess. Her burnt orange Stilleto cowboy hat is Trinity's most signature piece of clothing. A laced-up, V-front singlet wine-red top and long black leather pants with black leather shoes are Trinity's favourite clothes. As for jewellery, Trinity wears a simple cross on a fine golden chain around her neck. Her right ear is pierced twice - a hanging golden pendant in the first and a golden stud in the second. Finally, there is a tattoo of a line of thorns circling the upper part of her left arm. Biography: Rain was pouring down in the small but chaotic town of Farrow. The mountains towered over the small mining town that was a home to Gunslingers and criminals alike. One thing that was peculiar about Farrow was the amount of children that were hanging around the streets. They were all dressed in rags. They were children of the streets indeed. The street was lined with bars, saloons and hotels like an old Western town. There was also a faint cover of dust on everything from the mines. Most of the people in this town had their hair bleached a little orange by the dust of the mines. It was the signature look of a person from Farrow. One small girl was leaning against one of the saloon's walls, trying to stay out of the downpour. Her shoulder-length charcoal black hair was sopping wet, beads of water dripping down onto her pillow-case dress. Her body was quivering as cold shuddered through her body. She rubbed her hands over her arms, shivering. She needed somewhere she could go to be warm. There was a lot of noise coming from inside the saloon she was leaning against. A thought crossed her mind. The girl turned and crept out the back of the saloon. There was a door there. She looked at it and, to her surprise, the lock was open. A smile crossed her face as she crept inside. The warmth hit her like a warm wave. " So warm..." There was a loud bang before a man of portly proportions stalked in, shocking the small girl. He looked at her with his small blue eyes. " Trinity!!!" Trinity scrambled up from the floor beside the furnace and backed away from the man. " You ran away from the Church again, didn't you!!" the man roared. " They were going to make me work in the mines!" Trinity, yelled back at the man in reply to his accusation. " What rubbish are you talking about girl? You ran away so you can run around learning about Gunslingers! Don't you know it's bad luck to break the tradition!" The man walked over to Trinity and picked her up by the scruff. Trinity flailed around her arms and legs, trying to hit him. The man looked at her meanly. " It's back to the Church for you young lady!" Trinity growled and spat at him in the face. The man growled and made the motion to slap her before a growing scuffling noise from in the main bar area gained his attention. He dropped Trinity and ran out to the bar area. Trinity got up from the floor and ran around from the back of the saloon to the side where she could see the front. Water dripped down from her long fringe into her eyes. She hastily wiped the water from her eyes. In the darkness, Trinity could make out two figures standing opposing each other. A gasp echoed from her mouth. This was a duel between a Gunslinger and a criminal. A crowd was growing steadily on the balcony of the saloon, ready to watch the impending battle. Trinity's eyes were ablaze with excitement. Her heart was thumping against her chest as the seconds ticked by, watching and waiting for someone to make the first move. It was all over in about three seconds. The small girl could smell the scent of gunpowder as one of the figures fell dead on the muddy ground. There was a whoosing sound as something landed in a puddle of mud with a splash. Trinity looked to the puddle and saw a gun with a scorched bullet mark lay there. The girl's eyes went wide as she went over and picked the pistol up. It was light, like it wasn't even made from metal. A sudden rough hand grabbed Trinity by the arm. Trinity whirled around to see the Priest smiling at her evilly. " So, this is the one that got away from the Church. You won't be so lucky next time! Come with me little miss." He started to drag her away from the main street and towards a foreboding looking building in the back of the town. Trinity struggled against this 'Priest' who just smiled at her with a wicked look. Then Trinity realised that she still had the gun. Praying that there was still some bullets left in there, she held it up to the Priest shakily and pulled the trigger. The sound echoed painfully around in the alleyway. The Priest instantly let go of her after she pulled the trigger. He dropped to the ground, howling in agony. It seemed that Trinity had shot him in the leg because of the gun jolting backwards in her hand. Blood was pouring from the bullet wound, the red staining the white of the Priest's robes. His eyes were wide and bloodshot as Trinity walked towards him with the pistol aimed at his head. " Don't.... please.... I beg you.... please, forgive me..." Trinity stopped, towering over him, even though she was only small. The pistol was remarkably calm in her hands. Rage was swirling around in the pit of her stomach and was clouding her mind. " Why should I forgive you?! You took my friends away, making them slaves for a quick buck! You don't even care if they die in the mines! What kind of priest are you?! You want to be forgiven for what you've done?!" Trinity screamed into the pouring rain, her eyes ablaze with her fury. The Priest started to back away from her. " Please... I only wanted to help them..." " Help them?!?!" Trinity growled. " You should of got them off of the streets you asshole!!" She stepped towards him and pressed the tip of the pistol to the Priest's temple. " Beg for God's forgiveness in Hell asshole!"
6. Thanks. They look awesome!
7. Having never posted properly in this form before, I apologise if I've put this in the wrong place Retri. Anyhow, here is the situation. I'm planning to remodel my bishounen site (www.geocities.com/reiku_mg) over my winter vacation. However, I have one idea but its very complex and for a site that only provides 5MB of space to do all of this in, it's going to be difficult (I've had some good suggestions for the solution of this problem from the PC/MAC forum). My site is about bishounen of anime as well as some of my stories and fan-fictions. My idea is thus: Since the site is about bishounen and anime, I decided to try and make the sight into some like a manga book. The main page being like the cover of a manga book and the other pages being like the inside pages of a manga book with the comic strips. What do you think of this concept? Do you have any other ideas? ==========================================
Since you're trying to save space what I suggest you do is after you've set up the cover image which leads you to the main page on the website you use one illustration of a page with panels and create hot spots in the different panels which lead you to a different page on the website. Each panel respectively an image that corresponds with the page it leads to, duuuh.
It's kind of what I'm looking for. But I can't seem to grasp the concept you're trying to explain. I'm a visual person so could you give me an example of a website that does this, or maybe make a sketch in Paint or scan one in. By all means, you don't have to do this if its too much trouble for you. I just can't seem to quite understand what you're meaning.
I add however, you can make it have two different "pages," left and right, if you like. That way it has some alternation, but it should work just as good with one "page" with straight edges and a header on the image.
By two pages, do you mean as in what you see when a manga book is left open? Sorry, but I'm also a very literal person, so you need so spell it out to me at times. :animeswea A style attribute huh? Hmm... Where exactly do you place the style attribute in the coding? In the <table>? Or somewhere else? I just need to explore my options. Lucky I have 5 weeks to do this in. It sounds like it may take this long! I combined the double post that resulted from the thread merging. And I also removed the < and > signs in your post and replaced them with < and > so it wouldn't break the page layout. HTML is enabled in this forum, so don't write out the actual tags without using those instead, or using the [code] vB tag. - Desbreko
8. Ok. Sounds good. I'm a little worried about that slicing tool though. I've tried to use it in Photoshop and I got extremely confused. Do you have any tips to use it?
9. When you say 'Export as HTML', how and what does it export it to? Such as what kind of format does it export it to? Does it export it as table or what? You can use some technical jargon here if you feel like you can't explain it better. I will understand most of it hopefully (I should since I'm studying this sort of stuff at university).
10. Wow. Thanks guys. I was just wondering Keyblade Wielder if you could change the blue colour-scheme to black or dark charcoal greys. The blue conveys to me that its calm. And the face looks squashed horizontally for some reason. ^^; Sorry. But I want to see what yours would look like with the changes, if you don't mind.
11.
Ooh. I like the third idea, it has a lot of options with it and so many possibilities. I would like to see a little bit more progress on that one; Neverland always was intriguing, and a dark twist seems like fun.[/SIZE']
Yet again I agree with Sinistra and Alpha-Epsilon. That RPG idea does have lots of possibilities of where the story could go and how the characters would develop.
12. Ok, thanks Jokopoko. Sorry I'm such a nuisance. Better to ask stupid questions than to make stupid mistakes.
13. Ok. But how should I use it? In manga comics, they use a lot of irregular polygons for the scenes. I plan to include information in these, but how would I lay them out? I was wondering what would be the best method to implement these? Tables? CSS? Anything else?
14.
They always have been.
I agree with that too Sandy. It's just that, lately, people don't seem have the time or the interest for a complicated or a long storyline. It seems that way anyhow.
15. Having never posted in this form before, I apologise if I've put this in the wrong place. Anyhow, here is the situation. I'm planning to remodel my bishounen site (www.geocities.com/reiku_mg) over my winter vacation. However, I have one idea but its very complex and for a site that only provides 5MB of space to do all of this in, it's going to be difficult (I'm going to solve the problem by either convincing my parents to get a real website, or use multiple smaller sites, dividing the site into pieces). How do you think I should implement this? Using tables or CSS (which I don't know how to use)? Or Flash even (I have some experience with Flash)? And I only have basic Photoshop and Illustrator skills. Or do you have any other ideas for the renewal of my site? OOC: Sorry its so long.
16. Interesting concept Illusion. And I agree, RPGS of late are dying like flies. I think it could be done. But you'd have to be careful about what plot you decide to follow. I suggest you have a plot that doesn't have many side-plots and unfinished tails. I just had an idea. Maybe you could do this idea but with a longer storyline, except making it into episodes, spacing each episode maybe a few weeks apart - each episode having its own short plotline that eventually makes up the major plot line. Erg.... that's probably doesn't make much sense. If you're interested in the idea, I'll try to explain it better next time.
17. Wow, welcome back Blayze. ^^ Anyway, I really like your second idea. There's so many possibilities that could come from that. But what I really like is that you're willing to focus on their personal lives. That should provide some nice plot twists. Sounds like fun.
18. Hey people. It seems I haven't made a RPG for a long time, and even the ones I have made the past few months haven't been that successful. Anyway, I thought I'd try something different. My idea is that the people that will sign-up to the RPG will be a team who are trying to stop/solve a crime. Something like the TV show 'Las Vegas' or the movies 'Ocean's 11 & 12' or 'The Italian Job', except from the opposite perspective. Myself and maybe a few other people would be culprits to make everything interesting. Any opinions? PS. Conventional RP ideas (fantasy/sci-fi) don't seem to be popular anymore.
19. Some advice: Try to plan a little of your RPGs beforehand. Have some idea of where you want your RPG to go, unless you're playing to make a free-for-all RPG. Think about what kind of characters people are going to sign-up as. Make things detailed enough so people can understand the concept but not so detailed that it is pages upon pages of information. If you want any help, just PM. I'll be happy to help out.
20. Heya everyone. I've decided to have a banner change. I'd like for someone to come up with a banner and avi set for me that include pictures of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Here's what I want: Theme - dark, brooding Text - No user name on either. I want these words on the banner. " Silent. Alone. Fighting." Graphics - I don't have any specific graphics to give you. Instead I have a link to a few sites that have fairly good quality graphics. Anime Visions - FFAC Aethereality Gallery - FFAC Thanks
21. That's no problem, The Boss. It's nice to be included. You did Oriel very well. Anyway, yet another question. Since The Boss put myself and Ecstasy in his post, are we allowed to post now or do we have to wait for our turn?
22. So the posting order is the list of our names in your first post in this thread or the Square thread? Sorry I'm asking so many questions. I've never done a posting-order thing before, so I'm a little unsure on what to do. Sorry to annoy you.
23. Touka gave a smile. " Just the girl I wanted to see." The Tiegran stood, her tail swishing behind her. " We have a job to do." " A mission?" the elf asked, not sounding surprised. Touka nodded. " The High Commander I met with informed me that Kutisok have entered our Western territories. Since there are too many targets to cover with out current number of soldiers that aren't on duty, our superiors have decided to organse a relaitory strike. They gave me the option of choosing my own team. You and I will be leading our girls there." Ska's eyes lit up at the chance of being on the front-line. " It's been too long since we've had a good fight." " Indeed. It has," Touka chuckled. " We need to organise our team." " Right." The wind picked up outside as Touka and Ska worked through the night, deciding who they would take on their mission. By the time they had decided who was to go with them, the noise in the barracks had died down in the early hours of the morning. Touka yawned widely, showing her four elongated canine teeth. " Well that's done. You can go to bed now Ska." " When are we moving out?" " I'll have a few hours sleep first then report to the High Commander at noon." Ska gave a half smile. " I'm going to enjoy this." Touka stretched, her tail curling up behind her as she stretched. " I want you to organise our chosen group after you wake and prepare yourself. I have a feeling that we'll be attacking the night after next." " Right." Ska left the room with an excited smile. Touka watched the elf out before sighing and laying down in her bed. She would have to bathe in the morning before she'd go to the High Commander to know exactly what her group would be doing. OOC: Just organise everyone in the morning Ecstasy and then go find Touka at the High Commander's tent.
24. Even though Spirited Away was my first Miyazaki film (and still is my first love of his work), I've seen many others and have begun to appreciate and admire the man. The day before yesterday, I watched Howl's Moving Castle. I absolutely loved it! The storyline was interesting and Howl was a hunk (his English voice is Christian Bale - the newest Batman!! PUDDLE-MOMENT!). My sisters watched it with me in Japanese with English sub-titles. It is a beautiful story.
25. " The Kutisok have entered the Western territories. We have a tracking team after them but we haven't had any luck in picking up the trail or getting any information on their target. There are too many targets in the Western territories to protect with our current number of soldiers that aren't on the front lines." Touka looked up at her commander - an Elf of middle age for their race. There were many scars over her face - the prizes of war. Touka was lucky to not receive any of those hideous things as of yet, but she has had her fair share of battles. Her tail swished angrily behind her and her dark grey ears were flattened back. " The nerve of those Kutisok. What are they planning?" Touka growled to herself very tiger like. " Settle down Commander Ichimaru," the elf warned. " We need to organise a counter strike. I need your skills in this battle. Your weapon has the destructive powers necessary for this mission. I will let you organise your own team." Touka gave a fanged smirk before bowing low and exited out of the tent. " The plot thickens," Touka murmured to herself as she made her way back to the barracks. Her orders were going to be given to her later when the upper commanders and generals had chosen their target. The sound of a cheery barracks echoed to Touka's cat-like ears. Seems like the soldiers were having fun - but with what? It sounded like it was coming from her barracks. She approached the doors of the barracks and opened them. A lot of women were whooping at a group of women who were playing some sort of entertaining game. Touka walked in. " That will do ladies." The group turned to her. " Awww come on Touka, this is hilarious." " Come join us." Touka growled. " Don't make too much noise. I have some work to do." The Teigran went to walk into her quarters but stopped in the doorway and turned. " Has anybody seen Ska?" " Huh? Ska? No.. I haven't seen her since dinner." " Very well. Don't wake up the other barracks." " Yes ma'am!" they all chorused. Touka sighed and entered her own quarters, shutting the door behind her. The sound of her soldiers were dull through her thick wooden door. The Tiegran looked over to her Kiju - her most valuable possession and only weapon. Her body moved around to the desk and she sat down on it, starting on choosing who would go with her on her mission. She half-wished that Ska was here with her. She needed her opinions on who would come with them.
