1. ed's girl, I've deleted your two consecutive posts. Double posting, like intro posting, is not allowed here, as you will see if you read the Rules like Stuart directed you to. Also, both posts were off-topic spam. Be aware that (again, as stated in the Rules) continual spamming of the boards is a banworthy offence.

Anime Songs

I'm afraid the legal grey area that is file-sharing isn't really supported here. We don't link to p2p networks and we don't have file-sharing facilities. I'm sure you can find plenty of other places online that take a more liberal stance on this, though. Because there isn't really anything more to discuss, thread closed.
3. Part of the reason I lost all the time is that I could never put two and two together and realise which of my cards worked well as a combo. But Psychatog? I seem to remember owning one, but Traumatise was in my Blue deck. No Psychatogs for me. I've never even heard of Call of Cthulu as a game, only as a song. It sounds a bit weird ... the object is to get eaten so you don't have to watch your loved ones dying? Think I'll steer clear of that one...
4.
[/font']The only constant was that despite introducing half of us to the game, in the five or so years of play, Raiyuu almost always got owned.
Too true, even with my theoretically kickin' Blue deck with the card that made my opponent discard half his deck. I used to play WH40K, too, but I got owned at that as well and eventually realised I was only really in it for the painting side. (Eldar and later Necrons, if anyone's interested.) I've just had a massive clearout of my belongings before I go off to Uni, and I've packaged up all my GW things to go in the loft - all they do is take up space in my room, because I never play anymore, but I've spent so long painting and converting them that I can't bear to sell them or throw them out. Never got into D&D, though. It just had too great a nerd stigma attached.
5. I remember this issue arising in another thread fairly recently, and I remember jblessing giving a really good reason why this statement:
But these things I've pointed out aren't[/i'] impossible to add to the rules in few hours!
...is untrue. I can't find the thread now, I can't remember what the exact topic was, it's moved off the front page of S&F and to be honest I can't be bothered to search for it to prove a point, but something to do with the code that OB uses means that changing the Rules or FAQ pages is actually a fairly arduous, time-consuming task. Which is why James and the team decided that, rather than update the Rules piecemeal with an extra one now and again, they'd wait till OB was getting a full overhaul and do an entirely new Rules page at that time. (And Amen to what Goddess said about James's personal life. He deserves to live in the real world every now and again :P)

Hi!!

Welcome to OtakuBoards, Kilaria. As has been pointed out, we don't allow intro threads here. We prefer to just get to know you through your posts in other threads, so jump right in! I'd suggest you take a look at the Rules and FAQ - both located in the left sidebar. If you still have questions, feel free to PM me or one of the other Moderators. Hope you enjoy your stay. Bondage boy, not using punctuation in poetry is one thing, not using it in what is intended to be a legible piece of prose is quite another. Omitting punctuation makes it far harder to understand what you're saying; many of your points will be lost by people saying, "gack, that's illegible, I'll just not bother reading it". Although, if you want to post any of your poetry, I'd like to direct you to the OB Anthology, right down the bottom of the index page. Finally, I hate to throw the book at you so many times when you've only just joined, but we don't allow 'back-seat modding' or 'playing Mod' here either. Don't tell people they're going to catch heat for intro threads. Just let the Mods find it and do their job. Phew. Thread closed.
7. Blue Team members will notice that I've been using both 'he' and 'she' in my post, depending on the gender that my character is at the time. Is it distracting at all? Because I can just say 'she' the whole time if it interferes with readability. (I know this is a Blue Team affair right now, but there's the possibility I'll RP with other people at a later date, so I thought I'd better post this rather than by PM. Though it's probably best to give me answers by PM, so as not to clutter the Underground.)
8. I left this thread open in the hope that people would share their own despair stories instead of laughing at Tyler, but it looks like that isn't going to happen. So I'm locking it before more meanness can occur. Thread closed.
9.
I think[/i'] its more about natural selection than evolution.
Natural selection and evolution aren't different. Natural selection is the central principle of evolutionary theory. It's true that it's difficult not to see evidence of higher control in the design of humans, at least. It must have taken a massive fluke for our ancestors to develop the specific genetic characteristics required to eventually lead to modern man. But that doesn't mean it should be taught in classrooms. Drix, what's Macroevolution? I haven't come across it before. From what you said I guess it's another alternative theory to evolution?
10. Bondage boy and D-L33T-SHUN, can you please give your posts a little more substance in future? For instance, tell us why you want to rave as soon as you're eighteen. Or why you love techno. And Bondage boy especially, try and use punctuation a bit more. Or at all. It makes you posts easier to understand, so people can get your point more easily.
11. Both of you, welcome to OtakuBoards. I'm sorry to zap you with the old Mod-Rod so early on, but we don't actually allow introduction threads. They clog up the forums and besides, we'd much rather get to know you through your posting, so find a thread that takes your interest and jump right in! I'd suggest you take a look at the Rules and FAQ (both conveniently located on the left sidebar), and if you still have questions, feel free to PM me or one of the other Moderators. Hope you enjoy your stay. Thread closed.
12. Harry, Ilium, stop clogging up the thread with your pointless sniping. If it's not about the Hurricane, it doesn't belong here.
13. I remember loving Reboot for the darker, more adult twist the show took later on. Grown-up Enzo - aka Matrix - was my first taste of the concept known as the 'anti-hero'. A favourite episode would definitely be the Resident Evil-type zombie game episode, where the User's character kept saying "Gah-roovy!" You can buy the series on DVD from Amazon, but they're all marked as 'limited availability'. I guess it's one of those cult shows that has a bit too much of an in-depth story for the more casual viewer, and gets cancelled due to low ratings. And what's this about a movie? Over here in England, it got cancelled just as everyone in the Net was getting 'the Infection', and getting glowing green veins all over them...
14. At the Camden Barfly club in London, Ash had met a bouncer who liked to be known as Muggsy. His muscular physique had been perfect for ripping the insides out of Doombots, and now his large feet were helping to keep the shifting, sinking sands of Morocco at bay. ?Keep your ears peeled,? warned Tech chirpily, skimming through the air, ?the Doombots are capable of silent running when necessary. It?s how they snuck up on us!? The night was freezing and utterly still, the frosty stars illuminating a seemingly peaceful, practically dune-less expanse of sparkling white sand. Well, doesn?t look like Radisson?s trying to blend in. Could he have made his compound any uglier? Between the Legionnaires and the walled city of Bu Craa stood the squat, armoured shell of Al-Hadiye Radisson?s fortress. Only a couple of storeys high, the blocky building was constructed in its entirety from reinforced concrete. According to their mission briefing, the walls were at least four feet thick and the majority of the complex extended several floors underground. Not even Impulse, the team heavyweight, was going to be busting his way in on this mission. About a hundred yards from the compound, Sparks called a halt. From here Ash could make out the power cables and water mains running across the desert from the compound to the city. What a git. No one should be allowed to cut off people?s essentials whenever they feel like. Tearing his attention from the pipes and cables and their associated injustices, he scanned the walls for entrances. There only seemed to be one, and there was an armed guard standing ominously before it. ?Want me to deal with him?? Impulse asked Sparks, jerking his head toward the oblivious goon. Sparks shook her head. ?Not in the way you?re thinking,? she replied. ?This is supposed to be a covert operation.? ?Besides,? Tech chimed in, ?there?s no getting in if we do ? deal with him. The door has retina, thumbprint and voice-recognition access.? All eyes squinted at the device mounted next to the heavy steel doors, and then turned to Ash. I?m Mirror to them though, obviously. Maybe I should start thinking of myself that way. ?Right, I see what you?re all thinking,? he replied to their unspoken suggestions, ?but he?ll need to be awake. I can?t imprint from a corpse or a vegetable.? ?I can manage that,? said Tech, ?with the Team Leader?s permission, of course.? Sparks, as usual, looked a little uncomfortable with the responsibility of making a decision as leader, but nodded. ?Sure. Whatever works.? Almost without warning, Tech grabbed Ash - Mirror - under the arms and took off, arcing around to approach the guard from the side. The slight girl panted a little with exertion. Crazy, I?m actually going into contact with the enemy on a mission with the Legionnaires ... deposing despots is a far cry from breaking up drug rings like I imagined but I suppose I've got to start somewhere... ?I don?t suppose you could be a bit ? lighter?? Tech suggested through gritted teeth. ?Oh, sorry, course,? Mirror agreed. He?d been wanting to get out of Muggsy?s shape anyway. Searching his recent memory for smaller people, he realised the quickest way to relieve the strain on Tech was, in fact, to assume her shape. Having imprinted her only days earlier, the transformation into her wouldn?t take long. Mirror felt his bones crunching as they contracted, forcing themselves from Muggsy?s massive physique into Tech?s slimmer form. His skin tightened to fit the frame the bones provided; he grew a head of silver hair to replace the bouncer?s head-stubble. It never hurt, and he?d done it so many times it had ceased even to be weird. ?Better, thanks,? whispered Tech as they swooped towards the guard. Without warning Tech quick-drew a compact pistol from her belt and fired. To Mirror?s horror, a beam of red light speared the guard and he slumped to the ground. ?I said I didn't want him dead!? she fumed as her feet hit the sand. ?He?s not ? oh, you?re me,? Tech shook her head slightly, ?weird feeling, sorry. He?s paralysed. Fully conscious, eyes open.? Mirror's eyes widened. ?Where can I get one of those?? ?Here, I?ve got spares in my Travel Box.? Catching the stunner and shoving it in her belt, Mirror knelt over the supine guard, seized his face and looked straight in his helpless eyes. She felt his dimensions, his skin-tone, eye colour, fingernail length, every piece of information in his body flow into her mind through that eye contact connection. She also took note of the dog-tag around his neck; if the voice-recognition software wanted his name, she needed to know it. Somehow, she wasn?t nervous or scared by the whole experience so far. The professionalism and presence of mind required for the job seemed to come naturally, although there was always a small part of her mind that wondered when she was going to wake up. A blue beam transfixed the man and his eyes rolled back as he fell into unconsciousness. As Ash morphed into him, she heard the rest of Blue Team hurrying across the sand towards the doors. ?Everyone on your guard,? warned Sparks. ?This seems to have gone ridiculously smoothly so far. I?ll bet the fact that there was only one guard outside means a lot more inside, so be careful.? Ash pressed his thumb against the pad, which beeped. He looked into the scanner. Beep. He said the guard?s name into the microphone. Beep. Grind. The doors rolled open.
15. Raccoon Chick, this thread doesn't really hold any discussion value beyond "OMG I luvz racc00nzs!!!!!11!!" type responses. The thread creator has more responsibility than the rest of the posters, in that s/he must set a standard for an intelligent discussion and provide material that can grow into a sophisticated thread. Bear this in mind in future, please. Thread closed.
16. Harry, quit sniping at Ilium. I don't care what you think of him or his posts and neither does anyone else reading this thread. Stay on topic or stay out of the thread. Raccoon Chick, please put more substance into your posts. We emphasise good post quality here and posts where the number of smileys is equal to the number of words will usually be considered spam. Try reading the Rules and FAQ (located on the left sidebar) or contact myself, Stuart or Panda for answers to any questions you may have.
17. Welcome to OtakuBoards, ChibiSaki. Here we place emphasis on high post quality, and, while you're certainly better than some, the lack of spaces and overuse of abbreviations like 'ppl' distract from the actual content of your posts. Your content is of great quality from what I've seen - cutting down on the abbrev. will allow people to see that. Any questions? Try the Rules or FAQ (located in the left sidebar) or feel free to PM me or one of the other Moderators.
18. In the UK, legal drinking age is 18. If it's with a meal, and an over-18 is buying, you can drink at 14. 18 is the age at which you can buy cigarettes, too. You can get a driver's license at 17, here, which I think is a cunning plan. You get all the warnings about drunk-driving on the driving theory test one year before you're (technically) allowed to drink. Of course, plenty of people are still idiots.
19. This thread concerns the Akira manga, and thus belongs in the Manga Workshop. If there's already an Akira thread around, then I apologise to Lady K and can this one be merged in please? Thread moved.
20. All of those involved, cease the discussion of people's grammar right now, please. Mods exist to monitor people's post quality, so that the rest of you can ignore it and have a discussion. You've all been warned by Stuart to keep this thread on topic. This is your final warning. Ilium, Attimus and Kuroshin, I'm looking at you. I'll delete off-topic posts on sight from now on, and if they continue, I'm closing the thread.
21. As far as I can discern, the name Kaneda is just a name. I have a Japanese word processor (called JWPce, for anyone that's interested) with a built in dictionary, and when I type in Kaneda it simply comes up with the kanji for the name. No meanings. Sorry. dontmakemeBLU, we ask here at OB that when you begin a thread you make it of good quality and that you allow plenty of room for intelligent discussion. Your question invites only an answer, and no conversation. I'll help you out this time, but try and observe this in the future. To add some actual discussion value to this thread: what does your name mean? Mine (Matthew) is of Hebrew origin, meaning 'Gift of the Lord'. (Obviously, if anyone knows a better answer to the original question, feel free to answer it.)
22. Succinct, but verging on spam, ULX. Baron Samedi already made that point and he managed to make a quality post out of it, I'm sure you could too. breakfree, we encourage quality posting on these boards. Brief posts with little detail are often considered spam. I suggest you read our Rules and FAQ (both easily accesible on the left sidebar); any questions after that and you're welcome to PM me or one of the other moderators. Hope you enjoy your stay.
23.
By the time more of the heavily populate countries move on and put in place these fuel-restriction laws the Greenhouse effect will DRASTICALLY decress, and the world will continue as it was. The biggest threat right now isn't the girl down the road in a Hummer who puts 50 lieters in her car to roll on down to the gasstation, it's countries like China that have a massive population and ****-all for pollution control.[/color']
Or America, which still hasn't signed the Kyoto Agreement because George Bush doesn't accept the science behind global warming. You make it sound so easy to decrease the greenhouse effect, but the fact is that heavily populated countries aren't putting in fuel-restriction laws and have no plans to do so in the future. Also, the sea level rising a few metres is pretty drastic.
24.
I'll stop ranting when the US stop screwing us over and making fools of us on the worlds stage...[/color']
You can stop ranting right now, at least in this thread. Stay on topic, please, and lose the belligerence, it gains you nothing. A quick anecdote about Albert Einstein (not exactly a quote, but an amusing event concerning the great man): Directory Enquiries once received a call from someone asking for the address of an Albert Einstein. The operator told the person that he couldn't release that information, and asked who was calling. The caller replied: "This is Albert Einstein ... I've forgotten where I live." They do say that genius and lunacy go hand in hand...
25. D'oh, I forgot not everyone was British again... Colleges or universities will give you an 'offer' based on your University Application (on which go your current A Level courses, various stupid little details like your last six months' employment history, that sort of thing) and sometimes, depending on the place and the course you want to do, an interview. (Sorry if I'm being patronising and going right back to basics, I just don't know how similar the system is in other countries.) The offer'll basically say, 'get these grades and you can have a place here'. So I'm doing Drama, English and Classics, and out of those three I need at least an A and two Bs to go to Holloway. If I don't quite get those grades, I have two options: a) go to Bournemouth, for which I need at least three Bs; b) phone up Holloway and plead for the place. If it turns out this year's exam was exceptionally tough, or they liked me enough at interview that they're not too bothered about a slip-up in the exams, then I might still get a place. If the uni decides they love the pants off you and can't afford to not have you, they might make you an Unconditional Offer, which means your A Level grades don't matter a jot, you have a confirmed place and you can slack off school for the rest of the year. But that's for genii. It sounds from your descriptions that the A Level is more like the APs than the SATs. Because of the literary-type subjects I'm doing my exams were entirely composed of essay-writing; typically two essays in an hour and a half. It's the very last set of exams you can possibly take in Secondary (High) School. Just so as not to discriminate, this thread is for International Baccalaureate or National Diploma people too ... although I don't know whether the results for those come out at the same time. (Those are other, equivalent qualifications, but I know next to nothing about them.)
