2.
Originally posted by Marron347 actually, i do plan on staying as close as i can to my friends for the rest of my life.
It's not going to happen. You MIGHT keep one friend, maybe.
 3.
Originally posted by Marron347 i have a hard decision to make and i was wondering if anyone could help me out. there is this boarding school i really want to go to and its only about 100 miles away from where i live, but my friends don't want me to go because they are afaid we will grow apart. now, normally, i would have no touble making this decision and stay with my friends in an instant because my friends are very important to me, but going to this school is my lifelong dream and i never thought i would have this opportunity because it is really expensive to go there and i am poor.also, i don't think it would be that big of a deal because i would be calling every day and coming to visit every other weekend. i told them this, but they still don't want me to go. so you see my predicament. can you guys give me some of your opinions 'cause i am really in a jam.
Go to the school, it's not like you'll stay with these friends all your life.
 4.
Originally posted by Medra Unless of course you're a snooty idiot who thinks he's better than everyone
Speaking from the person that has not yet posted a post towards me without flaming me? Why do you even respond? All you do is post **** towards me and then you call me snooty? Do you even remember what I did to you? OH YEAH! Nothing. All you have been doing is calling me a moron ever since I got here, but that's ok since you're an almighty mod right? **** you.
 5.
Originally posted by James I think this is kind of a moot subject, in the sense that most people understand that life isn't all sunshine and roses. ~_^
Yet people expect it to be sunshine and roses.
As for having expectations...well, sometimes having expectations is extremely important; especially in your career. If you have no expectations, you might end up with a lower quality result. And quality is the name of the game in your professional life.
That's true, but if they're content with their current life they won't hate work and do as good of a job as they normally do if not better.
For instance, I expect that my partner won't cheat on me. That is my reasonable expectation -- if I didn't expect that, then I wouldn't be in a relationship.
That expectation is setting up for a downfall. If you simply don't care about it it won't hurt you when/if she does.
 6. Ever wondered why that pretty girl would rather date a jerk who's just going to hurt her instead of you who cares for her? Ever wondered how you can work your fingers to the bone for ten years to make the type of progress another man can in two? Ever wondered how for all your troubles, you never seem to be heading anywhere? The truth is that life is full of absurdities, illogical inconsistencies, and other things which are just plain unjust. One can almost say that life is a pointless second in an endless eternity, and to strive for anything when death, often unwanted and sometimes unexpected, lurks around the corner, is to exhibit valorous foolishness. Or is it? All things considered, the world and life is a wonderful thing. Sure, our expectations are often far greater than what we will ever have or achieve, and many problems will surface. But, for those brief seconds our eyes are open before iunavoidable mortality closes them, the mere act of living should fill one with content. I believe that if one removes all expectations, and simply accepts life for whatever it's state as little more than a short joke the human collective laughs at, then life will never be miserable. Which is not to say one should not strive for things- However, expecting that anything in life would go exactly as planned or be "fair" within one's own terms is the true cause of human suffering. Nothing more. Live and love life, or die with a frown.
 7.
Originally posted by Anakin Solo So true that is. The Ottoman(or is it still Byzantine at this time?) Empire asked for help Harry, we gave it to them.
There were 5 crusades, you're telling me that Byzantine's asked for help all that time.
 8.
Originally posted by Altron Gundam For one thing, the Crusades were started by the Roman CATHOLIC Church by the Western Romans to stop the advance of Muslim Turks on the city of Byzantine. This ignited a spiritual insurgence among the Catholic ranks for more war and thus they continued on with the Crusades. Those people knew nothing about Christianity and the Catholic Church bent the words of the Bible to use their "power" as religious figures to their own advantage.
So you're saying the slaughter of muslims was acceptable because the Catholics did it?
 9.
Originally posted by Sara Infinitely. My conscience is clearer, the day brighter, and there are warm chocolate chip cookies on the counter, waiting to be devoured. Life is good.
That's good to hear. I'm glad I could help out one Christian in my life. Today begins a new life for both of us.
 10.
Originally posted by Sara Yes, clearly. *apologizes to everyone on the behalf of a bunch of crazy European extremists who lived several hundred years ago because she falls in the same general religious category*
Now don't you feel better?
 11. Consider this... After 9/11, Islamics became the pariahs of the world's collective distrust and contempt. We label them as war-like, aggressive, and traditionalist; Troublemakers and violence craving lunatics serving a strange god. What about the Christians? Europeon christians seeked to unite the world under the name of their god only a few hundred years before. In the process, they butchered nations filled with people lacking in technology, converting them under the sword, and subjugating the survivors to the will of the War Christ. Their crusades against the arabic heathens sought not to take land taken from them, but to drive the arabs into the pacific ocean and claim all of Eurasia for god. If it weren't for capitalism, the entire population of the world today might have it's nose buried in the book of the Bible, living in huts of straw, fearing an invisble man in the clouds, all the while foolishly throwing away a life on earth for that of a lie of life after death. Clearly, they have some apologizing to do.
 12.
Originally posted by Medra You have just prooved what I've been saying all along; you are a complete and total ****ing idiot. Any moron with half of a brain can tell I'm pro-abortion.
Yeah your right, I think i'll just go get hit by a speeding car.
 13.
Originally posted by Orien_Xel Apparently, Saddam is cooperating with the inspectors
No he isn't. There's numerous records of Iraq's tricks such as once when inspectors were going in trucks loaded with cargo was going out.
 14.
Originally posted by Medra It's high time people started taking responsibility for their foolish decisions.
Why do you insist to have a child born that nobody wants? Might as well kill it off early.
 15.
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh Gahhhh! ::kills:: Heheh, just kidding, but that was wrong! lol, I've heard that type of joke so many times this past year because my ex is a sexist pig. Here's my beloved joke of lameness: Why did the chicken cross the playground?
To get to the other slide.
You may all kill me now, too, & bury me with wrist cutter.
What do you do when the dishwasher breaks?
slap her and tell her to get back to work
16.
Originally posted by Yu Law um...I guess so sometimes it is a little hard to first get into a relationship and mke it feel natural but man....THE EX THING!
Exactly, it's alright if she doens't feel comfortable or wahtever stupid excuse she has, but having the ex overshows somwething WEIRD is going on.
 17.
Originally posted by Gunslinger My problem is this: I am pretty much getting the cold shoulder by my girlfriend. Thing is we have been friends for years, best friends. We finally get together and now she is acting all differently. Before we were a couple, she would do things with me, I would go over to her house and we would just be together and have fun. She has always been in love with me but I never felt the same until recently. All this changed though. When we became a couple it was like I didnt matter any more. Im just real confused. My understanding is, if you really care about someone, you show it. Or at least act like it sometimes. She spends more time with everyone else than me, she is even having her x boyfriend that she recently broke up with come over one day and everytime i aks to come see her she says no cause she doesnt feel well or has something to do. I dunno its just wierd. She wont show affection or anything, its like i dont matter anymore. I dont really know what to say about it, its just wierd.
Just dump her man, she obviously doesn't like you that much anymore. That's also why you shouldn't EVER go out with best friends, because the chance of keeping them as a friend is almost none.
I know my problems may seem petty and small to others but please if you have time post a comment. Just comment about what you think is up or what you would do in this situation. Please help, and thanks in advance to anyone who can offer some advice.
Your problems aren't petty at all. I mean she's letting the ex into the house and not you, that's a VERY clear sign.
 18.
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh Let's just hope they don't have weapons we're unaware of.
Like what? You don't use chemical weapons during war since it can easily blow back onto you (Germany's first try at mustard gas was a huge failure since they released the the gas and the wind blew it straight back to the troops).
 19.
Originally posted by Juuthena How are you sure? Rome and Babylon didn't expect to lose when they fell. You can't just assume we're going to win or lose. You have to look at it both ways.
Unless Sadam somehow gets 40000 troops to invade Washington D.C., we are going to win. I think you're the only person I've seen that thinks the US can't win.
 20.
Originally posted by Juuthena Yeah, it could help our economy alot, but only if we win...
We are going to win.
On the other hand, it's already starting to hurt our economy... So if we do lose, it might take a while to patch things up. >>;
the war hasn't started if you haven't noticed
 21.
Originally posted by DuoMax The thing is that they ARE blind sheep. They listen to whatever the government tells them and buy duct tape and plastic.
so all of the 110 million+ people are blind sheep?
 22.
Originally posted by DuoMax I have a question for all the so called patriots. Who is more patriotic, the one who follows a leader blindly into the destruction of our ideals, or the one who stands up and says"NO! I wiil NOT let you destroy our ideals!"?
Calling everyone that follows the government blind followers shows your distrust in the general public and the elected officials. Showing your distrust in both probably leads to the conclusion you don't support the country full of sheep and bumbling officials. Now if you didn't call half of the United State's citizens blind sheep, I would agree with you.
 23.
Originally posted by ZxFrOgGie13 It takes a moment to fall in love, but it takes a lifetime to forget. ~*~Frogger~*~
See, my point was it shouldn't take a life time to forget a stupid high school romance.
 24.
Originally posted by James Don't blame the girl for being cheated on; the guy cheating on her should be up front with her. If he isn't intersted, he should end the relationship before going out with someoene else. Cheating is dishonest and disrespectful.
Yeah but sometimes the girl will freak out either way. Like this one girl I dated stole my license plate from my car and wrote "die harry" all over her shoes with a sharpie. What i'm saying is that they shouldn't grow such a deep bond when there's almost no chance that it will last forever.
 25.
Originally posted by Elite That's a very harsh comment Harry. Some people actually think relationships mean something. Heck, maybe they even like the person that they're going out with. Is that such a big thing to comprehend?
Just because they liked the person doesn't mean they should moan about it day and night for a week. Especially if you're junior highschool or senior highschool.
