1. Ha ha, I agree with you COMPLETELY F.O.Y. I was starting to think that maybe I was the only one who felt this way! Yes, this show was really good when it started. It had an interesting plot and interesting characters, but does the series REALLY have to go on that long?!? :animeangr I used to really like this show, and look forward to watching it every week. I used to even like the characters. Now I just find them annoying and the show is just really boring. Nothing happens. They fight a bunch of demons and Inu Yasha damns them all to hell; they can't defeat Naraku. Miroku strokes a bunch of ladies' butts and Sango gets jealous, but they can't defeat Naraku. It is VERY monotonous. It's such a shame that I feel this way about it, because I used to like this show so much! I think this series should have been over long ago. They could have compressed this series into, like, 50 episodes and it would have been great and probably very compelling the whole way through. Stories can't go on forever. They have to end. I think they did a pretty lousy job with the relationships too. It was pretty good at the start when it was just Kagome and Inu Yasha, but, I mean, does anyone ever REALLY have any real feelings for eachother? It just seems like they fight a lot and there's no real depth to it at all. Granted, Sango and Miroku DID
get engaged
, but they really don't seem very affectionate towards eachother... And the Inu Yasha/Kagome/Kikyo thing is just ridiculous. It seems like they just CAN'T kill off main characters in this series. I mean, not like it's a GOOD thing to kill off main characters, but it does add a lot of emotional depth to the show. Kikyo just can't die, it seems. SHE'S ALREADY DEAD! WHY IS SHE STILL AROUND! I mean, it's the same thing with Naraku. I know they're powerful and everything, but if you've been that gravely injured so many times, and you have so many people out to get you, it just doesn't seem realistic that they can just keep on bouncing back! Yup. I think these people must be afraid of change, because nothing major has happened for a LOOONG time. :animesigh Yes, I think this show should come to a conclusion as soon as possible.
2. This is a really great movie. I'm glad that I had the chance to see it on the big screen. I'd never had a chance to see a Miyazaki movie in the theatre before. I really liked the book too. It's kind of a shame that the movie didn't remain more faithful to the book, but I guess that's life. It doesn't matter though, because this is still an awesome movie. Any movie that has come from the mind of Miyazaki is destined to be good no matter what. He is a GENIUS! I own all but one of his movies, including this one. I'm always so impressed by the quality of his work. His attention to detail is phenomenal, the characters are really incredible, the stories are really touching, and the artwork is absolutely beautiful. He is unbelieveably imaginative. I really like this movie, but I did think it was a bit overly long. I mean, it was great, but all good things must come to an end, right? I guess this movie just seemed to go on for a long time. No matter... This movie may not have been Miyazaki's best (in my opinion), but it's still one of my favorite movies. :D
3. Oh my gosh I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I don't know why, I just completely fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it. Of course, I own it. The animation isn't as good as Spirited Away because, well, it's older. They now use computers for a lot of what they do at Studio Ghibli. I'm still extremely impressed with the quality of the film, and the attention to detail that Hayao Miyazaki incorperates into his films. This movie is magical. :animesmil As for Sheeta's voice, if you listen to the voice of the actress who played her, you'll notice that her voice does have a bit of an interesting accent that is evident every once in a while. I think this is appropriate for the situation though, since Sheeta is supposed to be from, like, another country. Yup, this is my fave Miyazaki movie!
4. Well, I don't REALLY have the money to go around buying a whole lot of geeky novelty items, but I'd have to say that my geekiest purchase was that of a "My Neighbour Totoro" purse, which I proudly carry around at school. :D I also own 4 anime posters and quite a few anime DVDs, but I don't suppose that's THAT geeky. It was also pretty geeky when I made myself a Fullmetal Alchemist T-shirt in Graphics at school in our Screen Printing unit. :animeswea
5. I just started watching this series recently on YTV (my wonderful Canadian source for anime on TV). Of course, YTV always seems to be a bit behind the times... I've seen the first few episodes, and I really like it sofar. It's cute. :animesmil I really like the style of animation, and I like the characters---at least the ones I've "met" sofar. I guess I like Mecha anime, since there is more than one that I like... I'm not sure I like it BECAUSE it's Mecha though. Anyway, this seems like a really great show sofar.
6. Well, I've loved anime since before I knew what it really was... I think I was drawn to the beautiful artwork and the appealing plots that I really haven't been able to find in Western television. When I was little I watched shows like Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Digimon, but I only really discovered the "magic" of anime when I started watching the stuff aimed at teenagers. Anime is unlike any other kind of show out there, and it just happens to have originated in Japan. I really like the idea of animated shows aimed at older audiences, instead of it always being for children... Anime has a more sophisticated type of animation that I'm drawn to. So I guess that's why I like anime so much...
7. Well, for me, the important things are character development and emotional depth. I don't mind action in moderation, but if there's too much, I just find myself getting really bored. But I wouldn't want NO action either. For example, I'd say a really good anime for me is Fullmetal Alchemist. Then again, I also really like Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny, which DO have a lot of action, but I'm a fan of Sci Fi, and it does have good charcter development. I also really like comedy. There's nothing like some good comic relief. Really good animation doesn't hurt either. It definately adds a great deal to an anime that already has a great storyline. So, baisically, Fullmetal Alchemist has all these elements... It's a really great show. :D
8. Well, I'm sure there's about a million occasions where I've welled up while watching anime, but the only time I really full out cried like a baby was in FMA when
Hughes was killed.
:( Hee hee, I'm not alone when it comes to that one.
9. I'd rather watch anime than read manga. It requires less brain power :D I can't say that I read manga a whole lot, but I've always really loved animation. It's like bringing art to life. The characters also have more personality if they have voices and stuff... So that's why I 'd rather watch anime.
