1. The Lunar series is one of my favorites. Personally, I thought Eternal Blue was better than Silver Star. The characters were more interesting, especially Jean (my favorite character in EB). And Ruby was certainly a lot more funny than Nall. Lemina was certainly a character that you kinda don't see very often, which is a girl that can't help but think of money more than half of the time and tends to add some type of prefix like "mega" to a word. All in all the characters were what kept me attached to the game. I can't really say much about the story considering how I played the sequel before I played the first one. So I can't really totally compare the two, since when I played the first one, I pretty much already knew what was going to happen. But in my opinion, I thought the love story was better in EB. SS's love story was heartwarming, but EB's was a good one with
Hiro leaving his home world just to be Lucia and help her restore Blue Star (that was the name, right? Sorry it's been a while).
The gameplay was fun. It made you had to strategize really well in order to pull off in battles. And some boss battles were cool. I dunno if it was just me, but I thought battles in Silver Star were harder. I wonder if Lunar 3 is still being made. I heard some info on it a long time ago and haven't heard anything since.
  2.
Ok, I have another concern. It has to do with 'altering scenarios'. For example,
changing the fact that Zelos won't betray you near the end of the game.
I was wondering, does anyone know other scenarios that can be changed, and conditions on how to change them? You can either PM me about them or use spoiler tags, I guess either way's fine. :3 Tanks. ^^
Off the top of my head (not sure if I really should use spoilers, but just in case)
when you make it to that port town, Izoold I think it was called, where you get that letter, you can take either the hard path or the easy path. Taking the easy path is a traditional one. It's where you agree to deliver the letter and go on Max's ship to Palmacosta. But if you ignore the town altogether and travel north from that mountain path (name escapes me at the moment) and cross the bridge you can reach Hima. When you enter the town you'll run into Sheena again but she'll escape. You basically work the continent backwards: Tower of Mana ---> Palmacosta. Taking that path is a lot harder from what I've heard and all it does is change the process a bit as well as dialogue and when you get Sheena. Hope that didn't sound too confusing.
Oh yeah, Sword Breaker, if you really want a challenge, try taking on Abyssion on Mania Mode using no All Divide.
  3. Thought I'd like to come and post that I beat the game a few minutes ago.
The final boss really did put up a good fight, though she wasn't really hard. The characters I kept using were Bobbery and that attack where he hits all the enemies (name escapes me at the moment) and Vivian with her Fiery Jinx and Veil. I was really lucky with those slots during the battle seeing as how I won 2 out of 3 of them. The funniest thing about that battle for me was that none of my characters defeated her. It was that exploding trap (those things that go off random on stage) that finished her off, lol. I really liked this game. I thought it was kinda cool to fight "Peach". Bowser coming out nowhere after the battle with Grodus really caught me off guard, though I knew I was going to fight him sooner or later, but it was funny. It's really cool to see Bow at Poshley Heights after you beat the game. If you remember, Bow was a character from the previous Paper Mario. This game was really awesome! ^_^
4. This has got to be one of the most repetitive questions that I see... Anyways, there is no confirmed release date for Kingdom Hearts 2. Sites are proclaiming that it's coming out in early/mid/late 2005. So, I'm not believing any dates unless Square Enix/Disney has announced it themselves. Rumors have it, though, that the game is supposed to come out in the US the same time as Japan. I've also heard that it's coming out around the same time Final Fantasy XII (or was it Dragon Warrior VIII) is.
  5. I got this game this past Saturday and I'm only on Chapter 3 I think. I haven't been playing it that much because I haven't found a lot of time to play it. The game has been pretty fun so far and I just met that lil Yoshi dude. I named him Yoyo. Yoyo the Yoshi, lol. One of the best things I love about this game is how funny it is. Some of the stuff is funny as heck. I absolutely laughed when I read Goombella's Tattle dealy on Fuzzies. "Those things really suck... HP."
  6. I was reading an article in a magazine (I think it was Entertainment Weekly, I'm not sure) about this one guy that hated Family Guy, saying that it was hardly hilarious and that he couldn't believe that the show's coming back. I guess even a show like Family Guy can be overrated. A show that I find overrated is Everybody Loves Raymond. This show is soooo annoying, in my opinion. Almost everybody I know loves the show, but me, I don't. I really don't think it's that funny. The characters are so whiny, especially Ray. While people tend to say that's what makes the show funny, I think the show took the whining too far that scratching on a chalkboard sounds better to my ears. The only character that's funny is Ray's dad, whose name I forget at the moment. I'm glad this show is finally ending, in fact, I wished that this show ended sooner, it's hardly funny to me. Other shows I find overrated are a majority of reality shows. Anyway, does anybody here find any shows overrated? Why do you find it overrated?
  7. I used to have a blanket when I was younger. I remember it, heh, it was a Raggedy Ann and Andy blanket. I have no idea where it is. Even if I did have it, I doubt I'd still use it because I remember it used to be quite small. It probably cover half of my body if I used it. I got a new blanket quite a few years back and I've been using that one up to now. It's a nice dark blue blanket that's not too heavy or light. But I don't call it my blankie, lol.
  8. I find it funny that you made this thread because the entire past week, I've been in a happy mood. Last Sunday, my senior class and I went on a retreat. All I knew was that it was going to bust or be great. Turns out, it was great! I got closer to my friends, made two new friends, had a lot of fun, and started to learn that I'm important to my friends as much as they're important to me. One of the things that made it more memorable to me was that I gave a small speech to my class, telling them how grateful I am to have them as classmates and that I loved them. Corny yeah I know, but really, you have no idea how much I owe to my friends and classmates and how much I really love them. Senior Retreat will be one of my greatest and precious times of my life.
  9. Actually, I'm torn whether to buy this or not, considering I already have the PS1 version, which I haven't beaten yet. I've heard there's a secret dungeon in this game which isn't in the PS1 one and that's what's making the chance of me getting it higher as well as the other changes. Considering that its release date is near Christmas, I might add it to my list.
  10.
You shouldn't get so angry at your school about their dress code. It's not like the end of the world is going to come if you can't wear t-shirts with beers on it. And I don't exactly want to see people running around with skirts that show butts and shirts that have a bunch of sexual crap on it. The principal was not 'wrong' or 'cruel', he was merely following the rules that the county probably set for the school. It's his job. And stopping someone from wearing a shirt with a beer can on it doesn't exactly raise a concern with censorship. Even though a picture of a beer bottle is sort of 'who cares', it's not like it's deeply violating someone's right to show opinions or whatever.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I go to a private high school and we have to wear uniforms. Skirts have to be certain lengths and guys' shirts have to be buttoned up and wearing ties. It's funny, really, a lot of people at my school like the uniforms and are comfortable to follow the dress codes. If anything, people just get in trouble for not buttoning the top button (except girls, they can have the top button undone), untucking their shirts, or wearing the wrong color of socks. The last one barely anybody notices though. Course, that doesn't mean we're obsessed with our uniforms, we do like our free dress days as well. There's rules for that as well, but nobody really makes a big deal out of it. But really, it isn't a big deal and it's not unfair.
  11. 3 years, huh? Time flies way too fast... I remember that day. I was a freshman in high school and I was in my World History class. We were studying or talking and a teacher came in and started talking to our history teacher. I was near them so I heard a little bit. The teacher that came in was talking about an explosion so I assumed they were talking about an accident. Then our teacher turned on the TV in the room and there it was. Two towers that were on fire with black smoke coming out. The class became speechless. Some had family there and were scared. Some proclaimed that they would never board a plane again. I for one was very scared because the very next month I was going to Minnesota on my very first plane ride. The rest of the school day the teachers tried to keep our minds on schoolwork but we all ended up discussing about what was happening anyway. It was a day where reality was... well, real. I agree with James on how this event really waked up people. I'm sorry about your uncle. God bless him and every person that was killed or hurt in any way on that day.
  12. Dragon Quarter surprised me too, but not the same way as Semjaza. To be honest, just thinking about that game really annoys me. Battle system was great, the graphics were different but nice, and how dungeons worked (traps and so forth) were cool. What turned me off? Save tokens for one. I absolutely despise having to pay something in order to save. And I'm one that has to save a lot. Okay, I might have missed it, but were there no inns in the beginning? Now that really turned me off even more. The farthest I made was meeting Nina. After that I couldn't make it far because monsters were beating me. That game really frustrated me and turned me off really fast. I'm glad I rented it first because I was originally going to buy it first but changed my mind. It's a shame too, I really was interested. I expected Kingdom Hearts to be a good game and it has (for me at least), but it isn't anything great. From what I've heard Kingdom Hearts 2's battle system will be better and there's going to be added things as well so I'm looking forward to that. Anyways, the game that surprised me on a good note has Tales of Symphonia. I actually wasn't going to get this game at first, but something drew me to it. Good thing too, I wasn't expecting a game to be really addicting. The story isn't the best, but everything else seems to do a good job at making up for it. So yeah, money well spent.
  13.
Just thought Id share this with everyone.
I beath Mithos at level 55, then his second form, and I still had all characters alive, and didn't use a single life bottle Oh, then when I uploaded another game file, I went and did Devil's Arm's sidquest, and when I beat Abyssion, I was only level 63 all, and I got out alive with all Life bottles in tact.
I don't think anyone can top that...
I'll admit
you did beat me on Abyssion. I was level 68. ^^;; But really, I don't know why some players say that you must be level 75 to stand a chance against him. It's not really hard as it is long. But to be honest I found the battle kinda funny, because Raine learned Revitalize during the battle. But here's the thing, you have to use Healing Circle 50 times to get that spell right? Well I remember the counter for Healing Circle was about 5. I found it funny that Raine used Healing Circle about 45 times during that battle. I wasn't exactly paying attention to how many times she used it, lol. I was using Lloyd and I died about 3 times. My fault really because I'm not really good at using the guard command nor am I good at running out of the way on time. Besides Raine, I had Presea and Regal. And with Mithos, well, I held off fighting him until I completed as much as I could on the game, so I was about level 80 when I fought him. Did you finish Niefelheim (that hidden dungeon) and the Coliseum? I beat both and I'd love to hear how others beaten them.
14. Kind of a repeated question, but when does everyone return to school this fall, or have you already started? School starts for me tomorrow, well kind of. Tomorrow's orientation. This year's my final year at high school. I'm excited about this year. Not only is it my final year, but I don't have a lot of classes since I took the ones I wanted to take years prior so I get to sleep in late, I'm going to audition for the school's play, hopefully my book will be published by the end of the year, and I have a movie project I'm thinking of doing with my friends. And there will probably be a lot of other events that I don't know about that might happen. I can't wait to meet up with my friends again, I've only kept in touch with a few this summer. Let's just hope there won't be a lot of drama going around this year. As much as I am excited, I also don't want to go back(how's that for hypocrisy?). June went by so slow for me but then July went really fast, and I'm not ready to leave summer vacation yet, lol. But hey, at least I get to sleep in late everyday and only come to school for about 2-3 classes. I doubt there will be anything I will absolutely hate about my classes. The only thing that I don't like is that I didn't get an English teacher that I wanted. The one I got is kind of boring I heard. Anyway, one class I'm looking forward to is Psychology. That might be fun. So, when does everyone go back to school, or have you already started? Are you excited or do you dread the thought of returning back? Anything to look forward to? Or is there something bad waiting for you there?
  15.
Oh yeah, the old lady trying to be ghetto. That was hilarious, but I found the old lady dirty dancing disgusting. Scarred me for life.[/color']
That commercial makes me laugh up to the point where those old people are "getting all kinds of nasty." That's when I cringe. *cringes at the thought* Heh, I remember that Skittles commercial that KOTR mentioned. I just stared at it the first time I saw it then laughed. Anyway, the one that makes me laugh is that Jack in the Box commercial about the new fries. A French reporter interviews Jack and asks him if he has a problem with the French since he changed the name of french fries to natural cut fries (or something like that, I forget). And Jack's response was "Eh." lol Does anyone remember the Sprint commercial where the salesguy goes to frat houses and then when everyone saw seven on their clock, everyone started screaming and crying for the number 7? That one cracked me up. Those Sonic commercials are sometimes funny but they're just getting really annoying now.
  16. I was checking out LELOLA a while ago and I came across this rising debate about fansubbing. The following articles have been provided from the site.
In 2004, there's been a growing tide of anime industry talk against fansubbing, saying that distribution of fansubs over the Internet has led to damaging piracy in Asia. At Otakon, leaders of the U.S. anime industry had some stern warnings about coming action against fansubbers. "Do you worry about how heroin dealers feel," said Matt Greenfield of ADV Films in response to a question about the way fansubbers might react to legal moves against them. "Everyone of us works with Japanese companies, and the Japanese companies are pushing us hard to crack down on the fansubbers. Within the next couple of months, you're going to see some fansubbers hit hard... it's ugly." Greenfield, who appeared with representatives from Viz, Funimation and The Right Stuff, said that fansubs have wiped out a third of the anime market worldwide, and he noted that the lost sales have come in Asia. "Fansubbing, when it started, was self limiting. It was done through VHS and you can not make a perfect copy, but you can rip a DVD and make a perfect copy. I've talked to the Japanese producers and they say the American fans are pretty good about it. Others aren't." Fansubs downloaded from the Internet have been copied to DVD's and sold in Asia, all but eliminating Asian sales of those shows, said Greenfield. In response to that piracy, Greenfield said Japanese companies are going to start suing some fansubbers. The leading edge of that movement was seen at Anime Expo when Band filed civil suits against five businesses accused to selling bootlegs, and Greenfield said there will be more, similar suits. If Greenfield prediction is true, it could be something much like 1999's actions by Nintendo against the printers of counterfeit Pokemon merchandise, which led U.S. Customs raids in which truckloads of material were seized. Why would Japanese companies make those moved in 2004? Because sales in the U.S. and Europe have increased, while Asian sales and profits have disappeared at the same time. Greenfield said the anime industry in the U.S. handles around $1 billion in annual sales, And the difference with these predicted legal moves is that they would be pushed by the Japanese originators of anime and not by the independent American importers. "In Japan, they're trying to set up a process where anything that goes on the Internet will be handled by the Japanese themselves. They're the rights holders, they have no restrictions at all."

Many have argued that cultural rather than legal, technological, or economic solutions are crucial in resolving the bootlegging crisis hitting American media companies. Rather than suing their fan base, perhaps they should study how their Japanese counterparts profited from this first wave of underground circulation, seeing it as promotion rather than piracy.
The first article seems to be shooting at fansubbing while the second one seems to be taking a positive approach at it. To me, this just reminds me of downloading music. Something I doubt will suddenly disappear when action is taken. I don't watch fansubbed shows anyway, but could this lead to anything big? Comments anyone?
  17. GBA Shining Force: ROTDD - Well this is the only GBA game that I've played of this year. This is a remake of an old Sega game and was one of my personal favorites. Correct me if wrong, but I do believe it was the first tactical RPG ever made. Anyway, in this remake, characters were given more of a background, three new characters, a few minor changes such as when you get 2 characters, and some added tweaks like the cards. My nitpicks about the remake are very minor. Some of the new character artwork could've been better, the game is easier than the original but the monsters gain a level each time you beat the game I hear, and they moved around some of the music. One of my favorite battle music was supposed to be heard like 4-5 times in the original but the remake you only hear it twice. Yeah that's a stupid complaint, but that was really one of my favorite battle music. The story isn't all that great, but hey we're talking about a story that was made in the early 90s (I think) and it really is one of my favorite TRPG. PS2 Disgaea - Sorry, I know this game came out late last year, but I finally got it last month and I just want to say how great it is. I had my eye on this game for a long time. Hands down, my favorite TRPG. Everything is so creative! You get to create your own little army and that is something I always love to do. I love the characters as well. The dialogue is very funny and the voice acting sounds nice (although some of them just sound painful, like the Skulls for example). The characters are loveable and I'm not much on the story yet because I stopped playing for, well, you'll see in a moment. Everything is just fun in this game like the team attacks, geo panels, or the Item World. Etna is just so cool, especially in those sneak previews for the next episodes with her as the narrator. I will return to this game eventually. I heard this game was re-released in May and it came with an art book when pre-ordered. Wish someone had told me that. *sigh* GC Tales of Symphonia - Man, oh man, what a game. I was a huge fan for Star Ocean 2, but I felt that this game was like a bigger version of SO2. The graphics were eye candy, voice acting was great, loveable characters. You get to choose from two sets of different skills (Technical or Strike), cooking replaces Tents, Unison Attacks, my oh my so much list. This game can keep you busy if you're a person that wants to get everything done, like getting all the titles, completing the Monster List, Figurine Book, and Collection Book, beating the Coliseum and all the hidden bosses, and the hidden dungeon Niflheim. The game has great replay value as well. I'm 60+ hours in the game, I haven't beaten it yet, but it's not that I can't, I just want to get as much as I can done (I just have to beat the Advance Class at the Coliseum with Collette, Genis, and Raine). Now this is the game that drew me away from Disgaea, lol. EDIT: Correction, I have beaten the game just a few minutes ago. The coliseum is completely done for me. Still so much to accomplish though... man I love this game. Harvest Moon: AWL - I've always been a fan of the HM series (except I'm not really aiming to getting Save the Homeland), and this game just expanded it even greater. Now there's a game with sooo much to do. I only rented this game and played it for a week, but it was, excuse the pun, wonderful. This is a game that I will pick up eventually.
  18.
The movie doesn't need an amazingly complex storyline because it wouldn't suit this sort of movie. It does what it should and nothing more. I think that's a nice quality for it, personally.
I guess I was looking too hard for like some big storyline. ^^;; But, yeah you're right, it doesn't need one that's complex.
I also love the use of music in this film. Random gangsta rap style songs thrown into what is really a movie about a bunch of computer geeks... and it just works. The opening with Michael Bolton in the car as the guy selling stuff on the street walks by just sums all of it up so well heh.
That was one of my favorite scenes. My favorite was when Peter and the others were destroying that machine in the field. Now the song in that scene was perfect in my opinion.
  19. I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday. A friend of mine told me I reminded him of a character from Office Space when I said "Greeeeeaaaat." one time and I had been curious about the movie since. Weird, I know. o_O;; Anyway, this movie was pretty funny. I've never had a job, but it's supposedly said that a lot of people who work can compare with the main characters in the movie. Speaking of the characters, I thought the characters were very well done. They just felt real and the dialogue was pretty entertaining. I liked how Peter said that
if he had a million dollars, he'd do absolutely nothing. Something about that line just felt inspiring, I dunno.
My only nitpicks about the movie was that I found there wasn't much of a plot. Heh, one character, Michael, said that
the crime that they were about to pull in which they put a virus in the company's computers was done before in a Superman movie, lol. At least they weren't afraid to admit that their plan isn't exactly original.
I also noticed that Jennifer Aniston's character, Joanna, was hardly on screen. I was disappointed because I liked Joanna. Besides the not-so-special storyline, I liked this movie and it was pretty funny. Anyone else seen this movie?
  20.
.But you know something, the main charter in red that you will play. His voice sounds like Robin off of Teen Titans, maybe its just me:) .
Well, you'd be correct. The voice actor is Scott Menville who plays, as you mentioned, Robin from Teen Titans and Max from Dark Cloud 2. Anyway, I preordered this game awhile back and got it yesterday (along with a free poster ~_^). To say the least, it was money well-spent. I like how the player gets graded on how well they perform in battle. The battles are a lot fun because it's so fast-paced. Though I wish you had more movement, it's still fun nonetheless. I love trying to perform as many combos as I can (Sword Rain being my favorite attack right now with Tempest right after it). The most combos I've gotten is 18, though. Right now I'm at (better put up spoiler tags just in case)
that port town after the Ossa Trail. To those past it, is level 11 good enough to go send that letter for that girl Lyla?
A.I.

Yeah, I know this movie is a bit old, but I saw this movie for the first time a few weeks ago on TV and I was thining about it again today so I thought I'd make a thread. I didn't know much about the movie, though my mom already happened to spoil the ending for me before I saw it, I still watched it anyway. It was quite a unique movie. Every scene fascinated me, how it was all shot, I mean. I couldn't help but feel attached to David's innocence, especially everytime he asked "Is it a game?". I adored Haley Joel Osment's acting in this movie. The ending was what really moved me. David's wish to be with his mother was touching. I couldn't help but feel happy for a fictional character being happy. After watching it, I suddenly felt different about my own relationship with my family and friends. I wanted to be with them. I was actually surprised that a movie made me feel that way. The movie was very good, but to be honest, I wished I had someone with me while I was watching. Any comments about the movie?
  22.
Squee, digitalshadow - somebody remembers the Digi-peeps! ^__^ I thought everyone had forgotten about us. lol. Oh, remember the many attempts to re-create the Digimon section after it got shut down on theOtaku?
How could I not remember you guys, lol. When I first came here, most of my time was spent at the Digimon forum. I absolutely loved Devidramon's rants. I even saved the rant that he made when he was explaining the difference between Pokemon and Digimon, that was my favorite one. Wasn't there a member that tried to create a real digital world?
http://www.otakuboards.com/showthre...ight=likes+link This one? If so, that was also in my Precious Moments post. I was too mean to that kid (it was actually worse, I edited it and toned it down). I took a lot of frustrations out on him, but I think it's safe to say that he'd never be a positive aspect of this site anyway. Who knows though.
Yeah that's the one. Sorry, I wasn't sure if that was the same topic. But to be honest, I remember that pic made my day.
  23. Hmm, well I've been here since May 2002 so I missed some stuff like kuja's banning. I don't post a lot, but I do come here daily, so I see a lot. Off the top of my head... 1. Cloud's banning 2. How about that Many Faces of the Otakuboards(or something like that) thread in our current non-existant Your Picture forum. 3. Let's not forget the quizzes like the Zelda and Final Fantasy Quiz threads 4. I remember a while back someone made a thread that was spammy I believe and a mod (I forget who) closed it, leaving a pic in it that had a guy pointing at a sign that said "Worst Topic Ever." I laughed really hard that day. Funny thing is that I was just thinking about that pic a few days ago and what do you know? This past week, Charles closed that "Create a controversial statement" thread with that same pic, lol. 5. Otakucards Returns (I must've missed the first one) 6. Dragon Warrior's "How the James Stole Christmas" movie 7. Taylor Hewitt getting banned and MaxSonic with three usernames 8. The old, but cool members, Ginny, Hyper, Juuthena, Devidramon, and so on 9. Soooo many people married 10. Sooooooooo many newbies that didn't read the rules intially 11. From the version of the Otakuboards in which I entered (I forget which one) to the current one. So many forums have come and go. From the start I knew I was going to be forgetting something and right now I don't feel any different. There's so much that happened here that I know I forgot about. If I remember some, I shall return. But, good times here at the OB. Good times indeedy.
  24. Wow, I can't believe I put that in my sig, lol. Maybe he is brainwashing us all. Well, at least he's doing a sexy job at it. ^_^;;
  25. That's better than alright! Thanks a lot, I love it. ^_^
