1.
How on earth could you make a Cowboy bebop card game?! It defies all logic, how does it work, do you have to beat the other card by whistling a jazz tune or something damn right stupid like that? Why don't they just make a "Interesting adverts on tv" card game!? "My dishwasher does 40 damage to your electric shaver!" "Not so fast, i evolve my shaver into a loan application!" "Oh no, how will get low-cost insurance now!" "Hahaha, and using my "prime-time" advertise power up card your finished! Now hand over that super rare shiny 1/2 price chicken when you spend over £20 card!" It?s a horrid vision of the future
http://gkworld.zoovy.com/product/GKW02547 Heh heh heh. I do like your little game there. I don't understand how a shaver could evolve into a loan application without a bit more detail...maybe something about "Using the no-money down, no payment till 2007" deal on my car, I invest my extra money in..." Yeah. Heh. Anyway... I don't know if there is actually a card game, buut those are rather innocuous playing cards. For what it's worth. cream colored ponies, Sara
 2.
So, I guess my closest experience to that is "the characterization of elements." My friend and I were talking one day about how we "feel" about particular elements. Surprisingly, we both saw Carbon as male (not masculine, but like a generic kind of guy), Fluorine and Chlorine as girly, and Bromine as very manly. The list goes on, but you get the idea. We're both in the same major, but it was still surprising. This thread is very interesting. It would be really cool to find some kind of link with this syntaste ability and interests/majors or something.
Haha, that's awesome. Those all make sense, heh. Carbon--the generic guy. *laughs out loud* Not that I know a heck of a lot about chemistry or the elements, but for what it's worth, heh. Syntaste. Very good. Much easier to type out, heh. Dagger, that's a really interesting article--thanks for posting it! I'd never heard of that before (although my friend Carr was just reading about it, apparently...but that's another story, heh.)
When I see 'poochy', I think of Poochy from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, mostly because that was the name of the dog in that game.
Heh. Yeah, the thread title was for you, heh. ^_~ There's also a song called Smell the Color Nine by Chris Rice, which was also a potential title. But I knew you'd appreciate the futurama quote much more. So there you have it! I definitely associate words with certain people and events, too, but in a different way. For example, whenever I hear/see the word clandestine, I think of PiroMunkie, who introduced the word to me. The word itself, though, is different. It's thin and elegant..um..hm. *heads back over to Photoshop* Okay, I don't have a font that is right, but I can get kinda close. *laughs* It's thin, in an italic or script font, and not a color exactly, but dark, and translucent. it's not very fancy, just simple and elegant, and rather dark and beautiful. Like I said, I really don't have the right fontfor it...this one is a little too swirly. "Translucent" is similar, but a lot thicker--not as delicate. Purple. I think it has to do with the long "u" sound. It's a bold, purple-ish sound. I need more fonts, heh. antibiotics are murder, Sara
 3.
"Freckles" from Kenshin will also always hold a special place in my heart, both the Japanese and English version. ^.^ -Karma
Silly question, maybe...do you know if that's the same "Freckles" that one of the versions of DDR has? Because that's one of my favorite songs, heh. rubber ducky, you're the one, Sara
 4.
Sailor Moon:[/b'] Whoo, am I going to get chewed out for this one. ^_^ I just don't find what's appealing about girls in sailor uniforms. It's just another Magical Girl Anime. I figured a few years later after I officially announced I hated it, to see if the manga was any better. No avail, unfortunately. The manga is filled with hopeless romantic crap, that is just, stupid.
It's not just "another Magical girl Anime." It's the Magical Girl Anime. Heh.
well the worst anime i've seen are those american impersonations of anime. those shows like totally spies, static shock, teen titans, and a few others i can't remember the names of. i don't know exactly why but those have a notorious reputation for being really crappy, boring shows.
You think so? I don't watch a lot of TV, but what I saw of Teen Titans and Static Shock, I really enjoyed. I didn't think they were boring or "crappy" at all.
A few pointless animes are: DBZ, Pokemon, and of course Digimon. Although some may not even consider them anime, sadly they are, and have graced us with their presence. How fortunate
Is Digimon really that bad? *laughs softly* The third season, in particular, is generally accepted as very well written and executed. Sure, they all have a bit much of the "faith and love will get you through anything," but even real life is like that on occasion. another one bites the dust, Sara
 5. Recently, James has been talking about designing websites around music. Anyway, it got me thinking. I've always thought of things as color forms. Words form visual impressions in my head. Songs have ambience that paints entire rooms in my mind. I have still have notes from seventh grade science class (I kept them for the kick-butt doodles in the margins) where I spent a week trying to accurately describe my teacher's voice. (It was a thin, long strip of slightly patina'd copper.) A few weeks ago, I was trying to describe "punk ska" music to a friend as "orange and green--bright eighties green, not dark green--mixed together, and everything sort of fuzzy." Well, he had no idea what I was talking aboout, but it still makes sense to me. Another example (from much earlier in my life, heh) involves the word "poochy." This is a word my family (maybe my kid sister started it) used to describe anything that was...well, poochy. Hm. For example, if you were trying to fit a fluffy blanket into a small place, but it woudln't fit, the blanket would be described as poochy. (I found out later, surprised, that it is a real word...or at least, has its basis in one. Anyway, I brought it up to my sister once, and we both agreed that "poochy" was (or course) sort of poochy, and purple. Anyway, I don' t know. Does any one else have words or sounds they associate with images or colors? Does anyone else find this interesting? Any examples? Information? "You're crazy" remarks? keeping away from direct sunlight, Sara [Attachments: examples of ska music and the word "poochy."]
 6. Indeed you can. Under each piece you submit, next to the "Report artwork" link, there is also an "Edit Artwork" link. Options there allow you to change the category of the fanart, caption underneath, etc. For greeting cards, you can change what kind of card it is--"For fun," "cryptic," etc. Hope that helped. jamaican me hungry, Sara
 7.
dont close threads that are small
Welcome to OtakuBoards, fanfaf. Please be sure to review our rules (you can find a link to them along the left-hand sidebar). This thread is for suggestions for myOtaku.com, not OtakuBoards. There's a difference. To answer your post anyway, a thread isn't closed necessarily because it's "small" but because the moderator's don't believe it can lead to discussion. If you have any questions of complaints about the closing of a thread, feel free to PM the moderator of that forum and ask. don't let the sun go down on me, Sara
 8.
In regard to new skins, I can only agree with everything said here. I would love to have new skins up on OB. But the people who were making skins for me seem to have disappeared, so...my skin outsourcing plan didn't quite work. lol But don't worry. OB will see new skins in due course. I'm going to have to make them myself though, I think. I haven't really been able to do this in recent times because I've always got a lot of work on my plate, much of it being pretty urgent. So poor ol' OB has suffered as a result. But I do agree that only two skins in several months is going to get pretty boring. I'm planning to keep both of these skins, but to add an all-new default skin soon. This will actually be part of something bigger (updating OtakuBoards to ver. 7.5). But I'll talk about that at some point soon.
That's about all I can give you, heh. James posted this a few months ago. out like an infield fly, Sara
 9. Sara is coming to close this thread. (This thread is bad.) Mr. magoo, I invite you to read our rules (located on the sidebar to the left of your screen.) Another such thread like this, and you will be banned. passing this way again, Sara

 11. The theme that went with this was by far my favorite myO theme ever. It's just an unmodified image, heh, but I loved the way everything came together. [ooh, I found this little button I made with it: ] Just a thing I drew and scanned in. I'm fond of this image, heh. ^_^ Done for the 10,000+ members thing a while back. A long while back, heh. Mm, I liked this layout too, although apparently no one could read my text. Heh. Modesty at it's best. What I've got right now. I was going to make a Duckie (Another Land Before Time character) avatar to go with it, but I couldn't find an image I liked. I'm sure there have been others, but I don't have them on this computer (and they don't seem to be uploaded to my image hosting site any longer.) I keep trying to pick out a new theme, but I haven't gotten very far. I've spent a lot of time playing with eventually discarded images, though. till the words don't rhyme, Sara
 12.
I think world peace will be achieved when the entire worldwide neighborhood is so economically, technologically and socially connected that to start war would be destructive for all parties, for no gain.
That's an interesting point. I'd never thought about that before, really. Where Europe has had many wars over the centuries, today it's generally considered stable. (I guess I'm speaking of Western Europe here.) The EU shares the Euro for currency, for example. England and France aren't exactly going to declare war on each other or anything, heh. *pauses* I'm not building an arugment, or saying that such a thing is the only reason . Just making an observation. I don't claim to know anything about economics or politics. they call me mister fahrenheit, Sara
 13.
Sorry to go all Alex on you like this, but you're almost asking for it by claiming I'm starting a "stupid debate."
Please excuse me whilst I step out of the room and die laughing. ..ahem. Anyway. My friend gave me some music from CowboyBebop, which I've been listening to quite a bit lately. Some of the songs are just...wow. I love them. Heh. I don't have much other music available for me to play, but I do love the music in My Neighbor Totoro as well. Probably because I've watched the move so many times, especially when I was younger. The music is just...sorta comforting and familiar. living on a prayer, Sara
 14. Something interesting: In past threads, I've always noticed a lot of people say that listening to music was one of their hobbies. I always thought that was kinda silly (although, to be honest, I didn't listen to much music. When I was in the car, usually, and occasionally in the afternoons I'd turn on the radio or CD player in the living room and dance around. Which is awesome fun, by the way.) Anyway, this past summer (as a graduation/college present) I got a little iBook, and I put all my favorite CDs onto it....and I have to say that these days, whenever I am in my room, I am listening to music. It's incredibly different from what I'm used to otherwise, but no matter what I'm doing--homework, chatting, drawing, writing, even sleeping--I've usually got music on, and I love it. Just made me think of that, I guess, Hehe. fo' rizzle, Sara
 15.
my Kill Bill "Kill is Love" logo shirt (it's PINK!)[/color']
Which reminds me. Not only do I need that shirt (badly), I need a picture of you wearing it! My favorite shirt right now is a red T-shirt with the "Be Greek" (fraternity and sorority slogan) logo modified to say "be Roman." It is pretty awesome. Comfy, too. Heh, it's the first T-shirt that I've gotten in years and years that wasn't two or three sizes too big for me. So I feel all stylish and stuf when I wear it. I love you coz you're scared of me, Sara
 16.
Reading. Right now I'm reading a book by CJ Cherryh, and another one by Stephenson; "A Lady's Illustarted Primer". It's by the same guy that wrote "Snow Crash", another favorite of mine.[/i']
Snow Crash happens to be the most mind-blowing thing I read this past year. I loved it. Seriously, it was incredible. What was really neat too, was that my friend Dave (a computer science major) and myself (a linguistics person) both honestly enjoyed it. A lot. I skimmed over a lot of the more technical stuff, and he completely skipped the whole bit where they started talking about Babel, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was just so engaging, heh. Two people with completely different interests were thrilled with it. Plus, Hiro has the greatest name. Ever.
As for paper cranes, I have this goal to fold 1000 of them, just like that Japanese girl Sadako did when she got leukemia. Ofcourse, I barely have any time anymore for origami (EXAMS!).
I read that book as a kid, and it sure made me sad. // I wanted to fold 1000 paper cranes, but I didn't know how back then, heh. Must...resist...urge... Ah. *smiles* To have free time again! You're right, exams are nutters. kissed by a rose, Sara
 17.
As for me, one of my favorite hobbies is origami. I think it's a very beautiful and creative art. I'm also a sciencey (is that even a word?) kind of person, so any origami that takes on complex geometric shapes really appeals to me. I especially like folding hyperbolic parabolas. Isn't it cool? I also used to love putting 5 of these together and it makes a really neat 3D star. I've also gotten into other types of modular origami[/URL'], where you put many smaller units together to make a really cool geometric shape. I love it!
That's really cool. I've always wanted to be able to do cool origami stuff. I can make a couple different kinds of boxes, those little jumping frogs, and paper cups, heh. Oh, and cranes. I can usually remember how to make cranes. When I was in high school, for a while, I would always get a pack of Starburst candies at lunch. And I'd make tiny paper cranes out of the wrappers. They were severely awesome. Heheh. I wanted to hang them from my ceiling, but I never got around to it. Much like Tori, I feel like I just don't have time for hobbies anymore. I keep an eye out here, and try to post on myO with something approaching frequency, but that's all the time I have right now. I do write a lot of letters, but I'm very behind with those right now. Yeesh. Care Bears...stare! Sara
 18.
When people complain about the lack of new, quality threads in the Lounge, I have only one thing to say to them: Why don't you make one?
You and me both. ;) I don't know about you, but the reply I get is usually along the lines of "everything's already been talked about." Not entirely encouraging, heh, I can tell you that. I think that a lot of people who take issue with O. Lounge dismiss it for the reason you stated--everything is repetitive. However, I also think that if you're interested in talking about something, a little repetition won't deter you. I don't believe it occurs to many people to start a thread about something they would actually like to talk about. Maybe because they can't think of anything, maybe because thhey're feeling rather defeatist and figure it will be closed or ignored. For members who have been here for a while, some topics really have been "done to death." However, that doesn't mean that new faces don't have somehting interesting to say about the same old things.
Overall though, the OL is fine. In my opinion, anyway.
Good to hear. :)
Due to the "catch all" nature of the forum having the same high level of thread topic quality as the other forums is difficult. We have everything from the heated ethical debates to the more lighthearted ones like asking about your holiday memories. Both are great in their own ways, but also bad since they can go downhill quickly. The OL has is own little quirks which makes it an interesting place to be.
You're right, or course. It's a difficult concept to keep a certain level of quality across the board when the range of topics is so diverse. And yes, it certainly does. ^_^ new and improved, Sara
 19.
Maybe more debate threads? I mean, I know debates are very touchy and are only one step away from flame wars, but they're very good threads when they don't. When I look in here, alot of the threads are about personal issues and basically funny stuff, but what about politics? What about the modern world? I mean, threes no discussion about the War in Iraq, a very controversial topic. I think I remember when the War in Iraq started (I'm not sure if it was the WoI, so please don't quote me) the first couple threads got closed. I believe alot of people are afraid to post controversial threads because they know they'll develop into flame wars and get closed. Perhaps have a sticky of guidelines for a debate thread about hot issues?[/COLOR']
That's interesting. I know that I, personally, don't really care for political debates, as I always feel a bit out of my league. I think in general, political threads simply run out of steam (or are closed, often for the same reason) simply because people begin to repeat themselves over and over. Or, as you said, it degenerates into personal attacks, with neither side admitting the other any point. The general closing line tends to be "I think this thread has run its course." And by that point, it often has, as nothing new is being added on either side. A way to avoid that might be defying human nature, but it would be interesting.
Anyways, to get back on topic, what I was saying was...oh wait! That's the main problem I've seen right there...threads getting WAY off topic. I'm tired of seeing some pretty good discussions about life, or theories, or politics; turn into small little wars between members and/or stray posts about completely irrelevant info. Another thing I hate to see, people bashing and dissecting every single godd...post in a thread. It's pretty disheartening to see people rip apart people's theories, just to prove a point (I mean, if they are wrong, sure then tell them why. Don't start calling them names and judging how smart or stupid they are based on ONE post) and it gets out of hand sometimes. Some of those threads with 50+ posts, at least HALF of them are people berating someone's post to death. It's strange to read a thread where 10 people quote the same post over and over and bring up the same issues with it over and over and OVER. Correct them, debate them, Agree or Disagree with them...but please let it DIE after a couple posts. Don't keep dwelling on something that was said a week ago.
Thanks for your input. :) I very much agree with what you've said here. The thing about off-topic posts is that conversation naturally evolves. Have you ever played the game where you try and trace back your conversation with someone to where it began? You can go through several topics, trying to reach where you started...things naturally shift from one to another. However, I agree--on message boards, that can get complicated, especially as people can easily bring up and quote posts from several "steps back" in the thread. I guess the question is how far off-topic is still...well...on topic? As for the second point I've quoted, you've just brought up why I dread debates here. I think that it can be done in a good way and a bad way, but too often, the tone of the thread eventually goes from "here's what I think" to "You are an idiot for not thinking what I think." And that is a problem, because it puts everyone on the defensive, and when people feel they are being attacked, they attack others. It gets messy very quickly. good at heart, Sara
 20. I don't believe a truly serious story starring OtakuBoards members has been done (I may well be wrong), but the concept suddenly fascinates me. It could be extremely well done, and a lot of fun to read. Heh. gopherocious, Sara
 21. What's your opinion of Otaku Lounge? I know that, in general, the people I talk to have a problem with it--be it post quality, thread quality (the topic of discussion), or even member quality. I've always had a soft spot for this forum, but I often find myself agreeing with them. Sometimes (not always), this place can be a pain in the neck. But I'd like to put the question to the people who actually post here on a regular basis: What (be specific if you can) do you like and dislike about O. Lounge? What would you like to change? If you don't like the kinds of threads that are here, what kind of thread would you like to see more often? Do you have any suggestions or ideas for this forum--things that would make you enjoy it more? The general consensus seems to be that this place needs some work. My question for you is, what kind would you like to see? (And what about it now do you like?) tireless defender of the undercooked, Sara
 22.
But the worst present I ever got, was a stupide little ring-watch that looked like it came from a toy thing where you put like 25-50¢ in and out pops a capsule with a toy.
I never had a ring watch, but two of my All Time Favorite Pieces of Jewelry came out of those little twenty-five cent machines. They were both extraordinarely cheap adjustable rings, heh, but yes. One was a little gold ring (with a red plastic jewel) that I got when I was very little. I had it for years. And years. And years. The second was a little gold ring that was just a straight piece of metal with a hear on each end, bent into a circle. All the gold wore off, but I wore it for months (until I lost it.) That was just a year or two ago. filling the status quota, Sara
 23.
I find clothes to be a wonderful outlet for creativity and design, and I've altered a lot of my clothes from their original form to tailor suit them to my tastes. Therefore, I take great pride in my clothes, because to me, the way you dress reflects your inner self. I dress in showy, spontaneous stuff, and that's the kind of person I am.[/size']
That's really cool. I used to decorate T-shirts a lot when I was a kid, but I haven't done anything creative (clothing-wise) for years. I thought about it a few times in high school, but anything I would have wanted to do was probably against dress code. I don't have that problem now, though, so I'm suddenly all inspired. Heh. Honestly, though, I can be such a wimp when it comes to clothing. If I see something I like, I'll wear it, but I'm always scared to modify stuff, because it might not come out the way I want. walking on sunshine, Sara
