  1. I've read on Ranger Central board that evry four shows starts a new PR era Mighty Morhin, Zeo, Turbo, In Space, all connected by the same and/or recycled cast Lost Galaxy, Lighspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force, stand alone series. I wonder if Ninja Storm is the start of a completely new era, with the new production team and all.
  2. That's the thing about celebrities. If you disregard a movie based solely on one person playing in it, you never know if you are missing a good or a bad movie. I like Eminem's music, though I don't condone what he says, so going to this movie was a given for me. Surprisingly, unlike Glitter, it got very excellent reviews and my vote for must see movie.
  3. Basically its like this: If you hate Eminem and can't stand rap, stay away because that most of the movie If you want to see a good movie, go see it. Yes I said it, good movie and Eminem in the same paragraph. 8 mile is rather dark, but it fits the mood perfectly, since this story takes place in the ghetto. Even thought the movie is semi-autobiographical, Eminem is a very good actor in his role as Jimmy "Rabbit" Smith. If you don't like him, there are other people, including Mekhi Pfeifer, Britney Murphy, and Kim Basinger. Of course it also has appearance by D12 and Xzibit, which is good and bad because its like giving out job to underexperienced actors but at the same time, who else would you have play a rapper? Kim Basinger fits as the mother, although surprisingly, she wasn't as much of a crackwhore as Eminem portrays his real mother to be. Britney Murphey always seems to look like she either a druggy or as if she can't get out of her role in "Don't Say a Word". Mekhi Pfeifer has hair in this movie (imagine my surprise). The thing about this movie is that it revolves so much around battles (just think about two rappers making fun of each other with their rhymes and you have a battle) and not so much on the real story, how screwed up Slim claims his life to be, itself. I would have expected grittier, especially with the ending. I won't spoil the movie, but let's just say the ending isnt what one would expect for a warped lifestyle such as this.
  4. Well pretty much every DC characters' history is screwed up because of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and "Zero Hour" DC has to constantly tweak history in order to try to get rid of all the continuity problems their writers keep creating for themselves. This never happened at Marvel, which is why the big M will always be numero uno:D
  5. True, but in the comics there is a long convoluted history about the Hawks. The original Hawkman and HAwkgirl were archealogist who were actually the reincarnation of an Egyptian princess and her bodygaurd. The Thanagarian versions are their successors and then there's a lot of continuity problems in the comics with Hawkman and Hawkgirl I can't even begin to explain. The animated version is the Thanagarian Hawkgirl. Superman is different in this version because they have slightly tweaked the animation, and have a different voice actor than the one from the Superman animated series. Plus they've downplayed his powers some, so that he's not all-powerful and cannot do everything himself.
  6. where do you get the manga from? Sometimes I wish Sigma would just die already. But then, there would have to be a new villain to take his place. X4 Sigma was hard as (insert your own swear) to beat with X. I wish Zero would be given a better rep in the X games. In X4 his sword is short-range, and then most of the weapons he gets from the bosses don't use actual weapons but more like enhancements. X5 and 6 improved but Zero was still hard to use. I loved his three-shot combo from X3 but he couldn't fight bosses and use their weapons:bawl:
  7. Yes, Savage Time is te WWII movie. Cheetah was dragged off by Solomon Grundy because Lex Luthor thought she was a traitor, but if you look hard at the scene with the villains being put into the police truck you can see her with all th others.
  8. I read in Wizard some time ago that Disney was optinioning to do a live Sailor Moon movie that takes place in Beverly Hills. I haven't heard any word on it but I'm sure it would be bad. It's tough to pull off a Power Ranger like movie and be serious about it. Now if only the live DBZ movie rumor wasn't true than we'd be in business.
  9. First, I would base this movie around all 3 generations of the Mishima family. Jin just has more backstory than Heihachi and Kazuya to pull off the main character, which is why it should be set around Tekken 3 or 4 era. Kuma and Panda (is that her name?) should be done with CGI. Jet Li would make a good Kazuya and Devil. Since there are many non-Asian characters, I think this would end up being an English movie, so if Jet Li improved a bit, he's a good actor in English but could make some changes, he'd do well. He plays villains better than a lot of American actors. Jin should be played by someone from the Orient. I can't think of any good Asian actors who have the age to pull him off. Denise Richards would make a pretty good Nina, and Michelle Yu or someone younger could pull of that pigtailed girl in Tekken 3, her name escapes me now. Chow Yun-Fat would have to play someone noble like Law. Can't leave out Yoshimitsu. I think they should do like Darth Vader. Have someone who play Yoshimitsu with another actor's voice dubbed over. I think Yoshimitsu appears to be a slightly dark character so someone with a deep voice could pull him off.
  10. Unfortunately the last two episodes won't be shown until next week. About PRNS, I know there will be a red, blue and yellow, and a second team consisting of its own red and blue rangers. And of course there will be a green ranger later on. Blue on the Ninja team (the teams are Ninja and Shadow in Japan) is a girl and I heard rumors that blue shadow is a girl too, but I'm not sure. Also, the shows being filmed in New Zealand this time around Cole's Animarium armor is probably the only cool looking one of the group because it actually fits, in my opinion. Also, did anyone see the IsisMegazord Predator Mode? That was awesome. I read on Ranger Central that there is supposed to be a red gorilla who joins up with shark, tiger, eagle, bison and elephant zord to form the Ultimas Megazord but *Spoiler* Ultimas will only be a toy, not a show character. :bawl: *End Spoiler*
  11. The twins supposedly can walk through walls, like ghost I believe. I'm not sure about Agent Smith being a good guy, because he appeared evil in all the promotional pics I've seen. I wish Jet Li would have played a role in the movie, but oh well.
  12. Am I the only person here that can tolerate the dub? I hate Serena's voice, but the dub is unfortunately the only version I have seen and I didn't even notice any of the cuts. In fact, I didn't know they were that bad until I read about them in Wizard's Anime Invasion. I have seen up to the end of Super S and have read about Sailor Stars in websites and Anime Invasion. I wish they would at least put it on DVD instead of being so uptight about dubbing it for Toonami. R is personally my favorite season. I loved the future storylines, was somewhat saddened by the Sapphire story, and loved Wise Man and how he played everyone like a fidel. I didn't get to see as much of S and SuperS as I would like too. Not only was I working but I did not see any commercials for either show, until after they were well into the series. Then I had very little oppurtunity to see them. Damn Cartoon Network
  13. We have topics on Birds of Prey and Smallville, but who here is a fan of the Justice League cartoon? I for one surely am, being a massive comic book fan. The animation is much better than any of Warner Brothers' previous DC comics animated series and every episode is two or three parts. I am hoping that we see some more of the heavy hitters of the DC universe face the League, especially Darkseid, who I already know is a shoe-in. If you are a JL fan, have you seen the Savage Time movies? What were your thoughts on it?
  14. Of all of Disney's shows none, and I mean absolutely none of them can even begin to touch "Gargoyles". Possibly the most mature Disney show, Gargoyles was not only the most well-written of them, but had the best animation and a ton of religious, and literature allusions that were fun to guess at. Darkwing Duck was another favorite of mine in the past. My favorite villain was NegaDuck, Darkwing's evil twin. Some of Disney's current shows are good, especially the Proud Family. Tommy Davidson is hilarious as Oscar Proud. I didn't like Kim Possible at first until it came to ABC Kids. I laughed at that episode where Dr. Dracon steals components from a Japanese video game software company and made a giant robot that had a smiling anime face that kept saying "Kunichiwa" (sp?).
  15. I love most of Disney's movie, animated moreso than live action. I just have this thing against live action family movies because they have such bad humor and are extremely predictable but that's coming from the writer side of me. My favorite Disney movie will always be the Lion King. The animations was beautiful, the characters had excellent voices (even elder Simba who was played by Matthew Broderick, who is not one of my favorite actors) James Earl Jones was superb as Mufasa. Who played Scar? The storyline was possibly the most epic of every Disney movie and unlike past Disney films, everything was not honkey doorie for all of the characters which made most of them more relatable. For example, Mufasa died and Simba's guilt made him relateable to people who, like myself, have run away from their problems in the past. Disney's original films are bad, have horrible, reused actors, with the exception of some of the professionals like the actress who played the Smart House (and Peg Bundy in Married with Children), have horrible plots that make little since, and end in cliched, "everything is good again" endings. For instant, in StepSister from Planet Weird, the main villain was defeated with a lawn blower. WTH? I hope to see Treasure Planet. The animation looks superb but from what I heard about Atlantis, this might not end up being so good. Also, why is it that everythin American is considered "anime-inspired" if it has complex background art and action for an older audience?
  16. He may not be a professional but I love the voice of Wayne Brady. Professionals with good voices: Stevie Wonder, Barry White (my friends say I have his deep voice), Mark Anthony, the lead singer of Lifehouse.
  17. off topic a bit:I used to love Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad. The machines were cool and Servo has a strong resemblance to Ultraman. You know he was played by Matthew Laurence, before he became over exposed on the Disney channel like his big brother, Joey
  18. Beautiful. Is the poem supposed to be shaped like a tornado? That's the first image that came to my mind when I saw it.
  19. Thank you Mina ******* APOCALYPSE Scorched earth covers the land for as far as the eye can see In his tattered boots, he staggers across the planet As the wind howls like a savage wolf, putting the fear of God into whoever listens Like a knife to the heart or a blow to the head He walks through a forest of shattered glass and toppled metal buildings The air burned him, but he continued to move, as if driven by the forces of the universe itself He saw them all, charred and lifeless, their body melted down to bone Sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers, it made no difference. He couldn?t tell them apart. He walked through the door and the light lead him to the center of an empty room ?What do you want?? the machine deity asked. ?Why did you do this?? he asked back ?Because I can?? ?Who are you?? ?I am God!? He clutched the hilt of his sword, his veins tightening in his palms. ?Monster, monster, monster!? He leaped into the air with all the power in his legs, screaming like a rabid dog As his sword sliced the air in two, thrust into a pool of wire and circuits When all was said and done, he walked out of the building, alone as ever as the flames burned away the Machine God. ********** When the Monster Went Away I sit in my bed, half asleep When all of a sudden the light begins to creep Away from my room, away from my eyes And the darkness lifted me to the skies Bottles scattered on the floor Torn lamps flown by the door Broken glass and blood did lay On the floor, when the monster went away She sat in her bed, as the angel suddenly cried Lost in her head, as he forever said goodbye The monster did not care, for what he did to her And to tell you the truth, with that I did concur Bottles scattered on the floor Torn lamps flown by the door Broken glass and blood did lay On the floor, when the monster went away Twenty years have gone, since the monster went away And forever grateful I am, that he refused to ever stay Now I have gone, away from there, away from that place called Hell. Gone since the days the other monster finally fell The angel is with me now, safe from all harm As we escaped the tormenting monster?s arm. Bottles scattered on the floor Torn lamps flown by the door Broken glass and blood did lay On the floor, when the monster went away
  20. I hate what Cartoon Network has become now. They had quite a lot of variety when I was younger. Now everything is Cartoon Cartoons, animes (or excuse me DB/DBZ), or Adult Swim. Nothing wrong with that, but as much as all their shows have been seen, I wouldn't be surprised if my seven-year-old brother knew everyone listed in the credits of every show. I'm glad that they are reshowing Pokemon season 1, pretty much the only one that had original storylines, and Yu-Gi-oh season 1, which I can finally sit down and watch, but they need to finish DB/DBZ and hurry up and start/finish DBGT. I'd also be happy if there was more variety to Toonami. Maybe they could bring over the anime Beast Wars and Beast Wars 2, anything is better than Armada, or maybe Monster Ranchers or something like that.

    Excalibur

One of my favorite movies. It was a bit drawn out, but it was very well-written, and teh music, especially "O Fortuna", brings out the action scenes almost perfectly. There are some scenes I would change. The joust scene for instance. The knights joust to see who is worthy to pull out Excalibur. I never read anything like that. Plus, when Aurthor pulls the sword, his brother lies, and then tells teh truth., when he should have kept it up until he proved himself. And I didn't like that Aurthor went into battle right after becoming king. Sure there were scenes I didn't like, but that's just who I am.
  22. Sentai is a genre of Japanese shows which usually includes human characters who can turn into spandex-clad, helmeted superheroes who fight to save the world from alien monsters. Ultraman was a pioneer of the sentai revolution as it has become now. Power Rangers actually takes costumes, weapons, zords and villains from the sentai series and creates an American series out of it, with an American cast and all-new storylines. I think the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers used the footage from the Japanese shows in for all the fight scenes. Later, the sentai footage was used for the Zord fights only, I think, but I'm not entirely sure.
  23. Are there any fans of this series? Me personally, I love his show. The animation is done rathr well, although some characters look to ugly as a result, the storylines are entertainig and hilarious, and the serieshas some of the weirdest characters, especially uncle (one more thing. Hiya, and all those other cool phrases of his.) My favorite episodes include the episode where Jackie's niece, Jade, get the powers of the Talisman of Shindu and becomes T-Girl. There's also the episode where Toru, uncle's apprentice, is framed for robbing a jewelry store by Blackbeard the Pirate's glove. What are your thoughts on this series?

  25. Any rap/hip-hop fans here? I'm sure you've heard the news about the death of Run DMC's Jam Master Jay. What are your feelings on Run DMC, and this tragic event?
