A Captured Moment

Hey, I was in Manhattan over the weekend, and I took a bunch of pictures on my cellphone camera. Really I thought little of them. I snapped shots whenever it looked like a nice scene or image I'd want to capture, but I knew the quality would be poor. When I uploaded them today, I was pleasantly surprised that they were actually pretty good in quality.

So this thread is for people to post photographs they snap along their way so we can see what you've seen and share a bit of your experiences. You can post pictures or just comment on what you've seen so far, but I encourage everyone to participate in some capacity. You can have a really awesome digital camera or (like me) a 1.3 megapixel cellphone camera, it really doesn't matter. Below are links to my photos. I look forward to seeing everyone else's!

Mine happen to be with a good camera, but still? priceless moments. Most (if not all) of these are people I know and places I visit often.

The first picture is when I managed to dart outside and catch my brother BEFORE he took the pink feather boa off. ^_^ It was great. Oh, and that's my dad making the bunny ears.

Boa

This next one is a picture- a crappy one at that ? of a cool pumpkin carving from this past Halloween. All the lights off except the candle from the pumpkin.

Pumpkin

This is from a wedding I went to. The entire time the bartender was handing out drinks she had this really solemn look on her face, so I had to take this picture when someone finally got her to smile. I like to lurk.

Drinks

This is me taking a picture of the ?official? photographer for that wedding. I?ve always wanted to do that kind of shoot.

Camera

And last, but not least, at least for now, is a picture of the wedding cake. Well, one of them. The other one had dolphins. I?d just never seen one with penguins before, so? heh.

Penguin

Hope this is what you meant, Retri.

For a 1.3 Megapixel phone camera thats REALLY good. I especially liked the building near Bryant Park. That looks almost professional. O_O

I have a 2 megapixel phone although usually I used it to camera-whore. haha. but here are the times that I didn't camera-whore it. >.<

This would be my daughter last December talking to Santa at our family Christmas party. The thing is at first she didn't want anything to do with Santa and was petrified of him.

And now I have to go get ready for work. Maybe I'll send some more later.

I did shrink all of these quite a lot, so apologies for not-so-great quality.

The one called "backstreets" was taken somewhere in Tunisia, can't remember the town, but I felt like a complete tourist and then saw this person walking their kid down a gritty back street; I thought that it would make a nice picture.

I also took "mrs gren" (don't ask, I don't even know why lol) in Tunisia at some Roman ruins. I think I framed it nicely. This photo is odd actually because it looks a bit like a painting.

"faceee" is a photo of my ex. I keep meaning to delete photos like this, although I do think this particular one is a good close-up. I am not a fan of posed photographs, and I prefer to take a picture of people doing their thing.

Again, taken in Tunisia, is "el_jem" - It's of a Roman colesseum (I can't spell that word!) at a place called El Jem. I thought the light was just right on this day and I went completely snap-happy.

And, uh.. my camera is a something something. I'll check... I dunno. An Olympus of some kind.

This is pretty much the crappiest picture in the history of ever, and I know you probably have no clue what it is without me telling you. But to me, it's the very definition of "a captured moment."

Davey Havok (AFI), Godwalking

The "godwalk" (also called headwalk, crowdwalk, etc.) is Davey's trademark stage move. During the breakdown of "God Called in Sick Today," he stepped on to the crowd and was held up by only the hands of the nearest fans. I knew this was going to happen, but I didn't expect to be five feet away from the spectacle, and I wasn't going to let a deteriorating cell phone camera take that moment away from me.

Attached: Some cute napkins I found in an outlet mall on the way to Disney World. I would've bought them, but I settled for taking pictures.

Thanks retri! Hybrid, "Eat My Dust" is very cool - "Flight" is something else though, well done! As for me...

"lodnodndn" was taken in London, near Southbank. It looks pretty at night.

"flower123" is just a random flower that was on a table. I took a picture up close and personal.

"ferrrisweheel" is the sticker inside a ferris wheel in Yokohama (or the ferris wheel), which I thought looked very cool. I like the angle.

"brothers" um.. are my brothers lol. Also on said ferris wheel.

"trrrain8" is a train pulling into the station that was near the '06 Expo in Japan. I can't remember what it was called. Anyways, I just wanted a photo of a train in Japan lol.

Retribution - Totally amazed with your pics. Those are great! I can't even imagine what you can do with professional equipment.

I did some photography in my Communication Media Studies class, and I really liked it. Not the best at it, but I still have some of the pics. I'm taking photograph 20 and 30 next year, and I hope I learn a lot so I can improve =3

The girl in the pictures was my partner for the photo unit. We had to use eachother as subjects. We weren't allowed to leave the park area around our school so we were pretty limited... I tried to make due =P

I really liked the bottom weight one a lot. Playing with colour balance and saturation was fun, and I even changed her makeup a little with photoshop xD

Combination of Lines is one of my favourites, but unfortunately I don't have the actually finished edit. It's kind of off-balance and I don't have photoshop anymore so I can't correct it at home >__>

I just liked the field of view in the other two photos =)

I was thinking about making a new thread for this, but this forum is slow enough without spreading the participation even thinner. If there's interest in the project (that is, if anyone else decides to try it), I might make a thread later.

But a couple weeks ago I joined the 365 Days project on Flickr—the idea is to take a self portrait every day. I really do encourage everyone to try it; I've learned a lot about what my camera can and can't do in the last month!

But these are some of my favorite photos so far:

Day 5: I am part frog. Or possibly giraffe, or anteater. Day 8: "An anticipation of peace"

Day 13: Stir CRAZY. Day 10

Day 16 Day 18

P.S. There's also a once a week version if you can't keep up with daily photography...

All but the last one were taken in Seattle and in Everett which is like a suburb of Seattle. The last one was taken in Spokane. All of these photos were taken by my Casio Exilim 7.2 Mega pixel digital camera.

Boeing Dreamliner Hanger: The first photo was taken when my family and I were driving around the Boeing company. This is the hanger where they hold the new Dreamliner that was just finished.

Life: The second picture was taken outside a home near my brother's house that just burned down a few days earlier of my arrival. It is a sad picture. This couple just moved in and then their house burned down. This picture is a reminder that life goes on. This rose bloomed the day after the fire. There's burnt debris surrounding the rose on the ground.

Safeco Field: I went to my very first Mariner's game and this is the view from sitting in the higher levels of the right field. You get a spectacular view of downtown Seattle and you can see the Space Needle.

Seattle: This is a view that you get when you make your way to the upper right field sitting area. Safeco Field which is the baseball stadium in Seattle, is right next to several train tracks. Those trains import goods from the ports of Puguet Sound to various companies and warehouses.

Potrait:This last one is of my friend. It looks good doesn't it. This was random because I love taking pictures. She and I were walking back from the park and when I saw that place in front of my friend's yard, I had her sit there so I could take her picture.

I use a 3.3 megapixel, wonderful digital camera which I love. It's a Konika Minolta. Here it is.
