I Draw Comics [Challenge and Support!]

Probably everyone who passes through OtakuBoards reads webcomics, and I think most people have said to themselves at one point or another, "I should try that!"

This thread is a challenge for you to finally get around to it.

There are all kinds of webcomics out there, and every person who posts in this forum is creative enough to make one. It doesn't have to be epic, well-drawn, photoshopped, or even funny.

Illustrate a joke. Caption a photograph. Ramble about your life. Scribble things that annoy you. Draw stick figures. Heck, even recolor some sprites.

There's no obligation to keep going. One-shots are fine.

Ever made one? Let's see it. Have an idea? Talk about it. Looking for inspiration? Ask for help. Is there a style of comic you'd like to emulate? Share it with the rest of us!

This is a conversation I had with my little brother a couple days ago. I thought it was bizarre enough to warrant sharing with my friends, and this seemed like a fun way to do it.

Ha, that one was funny. Not laugh out loud funny for me, but liked it. The animation was cool too.

Here is one I made just last night. It's not funny at all.

I've got 2 for ya. The first is a webcomic I was illustrating and had plans for, but deided that without Photoshoppiness it wasn't worth the shot... it's a webcomic about heavy metal and gaming. this is an attempt to explain the non-satanic nature of metal gone horribly wrong...

This oe is both old and new. My brother and I both have a few extremely long-running stick figure comic series that we've been drawing for years. The best of them all, though, was my brother's series abot a homicidal angel named Vash who is trying to get his halo and is roommates with death (or Jack as he is called). I will warn in advance that it is violent and bloody, but still fun. I only created the computerized version 2 days ago.

It's got a pretty good flow to it, and I think it's funnier than the other one (which just seems to be about mindless violence, which isn't my thing). One thing that would really help it is some neater lettering. The serif'd font look doesn't seem to fit the comic itself.

Overall, pretty cool.

note: I didn't draw that. Google Latawnya the Naughty Horse, srsly.

That's all I have that could be considered a webcomic right now. I mean, I have countless doodles, but they really only make sense to me (and a select few others).

I'm gonna try to draw a real comic of sorts soon.

Oh, I did find something that's about three years old. Haha, I made fun of the band Nightwish whenever I could when I was in the eighth grade. Ironically, they were my favorite band at the time.

Oi, the first comic is, but the second one is completely non-violent so it is far more enjoyable, and also it shows that the first was not just a one-shot. This comic actually does get pretty damn good as it goes along... I just finished comic 2, so at least give it a look.

One thing you might want to put some more thought into is your speech bubbles. You switch fonts a lot, which is kind of disconcerting, and the placement is sometimes confusing. In the fifth panel (for example) it looks like Death is asking his question before the other guy says his bit.

I do like the idea of special colors for different characters, but it's not very consistent. Death is that dark purple/red color for a while, but then he goes black again.

yes, Death was origionally red and he switched to black right after the hour break. I can' only assume this is because he was in a blood-rage before hand >_> in any event, I agree that the speech bubbles need work. It's confusing because the origional comic is more spread out and I'e been fusing a lot of the boxes which becomes confusing.

Something else that happened the other day that seemed to merit a doodle.

I think this is a neat idea, Sara. Also, I thought your comic strips were pretty cute. ;)

As for my comic strip, I don?t have a scanner, so I took a photo of an old doodle that I did a few years ago. It?s a parody about typical adventures in videogames. The original comic strip that inspired me to draw this was much more funnier than mine, but I still laugh at my own comic strip whenever I read it. I was too lazy to create new panels for the old man, so I just let him ramble on and on in one panel.

Aw! Poor guy. I don't play videogames, so I can't identify, but I definitely understand what you mean?the sense of initial accomplishment reduced to almost nothing. You portrayed that really well, heh. And it's cute.

This is another one of mine.

This is my first ever webcomic. Just thought I'd give it a shot. It's based off of a joke by the comedian Mitch Hedberg. Enjoy:

Cancer yours is hilarious XD

Anywho, my prother and I decided to do a project where we will take manga pages and edit the text to say funny things. This first one was just for us to experiment and see how it would look - it's a filler if anything, but still funny.

This just came to me on a whim. It really only makes sense if you've seen the commercials for Dairy Queen's soft serve and waffle thing, and quite possibly seen Natalie Dee's webcomics.

Words do not exist to describe how much I was not expecting that.
