Oddly enough, I was planning this before Revy's threads in the other categories ^^;; This one's different, though. Let's talk about what we're watching or reading. You can make a list or just talk about a thing or two. My main goal with this is that we will discuss all sorts of series outside of what we normally discuss and to open more people up to more shows/manga. This is a place for postin every time you start a show or watch an episode or buy something. Many of the shows I was watching last month or am supposed to be watching now, I haven't gotten to yet this month ^^;; since the list would be enormous if I went for all them, I'm only conting the ones I've watced since the first. Firstly, I just marathoned Genshiken two days ago with my brother. I wasn't sure how good it will be since the first two episodes weren't nearly as good as their mnga counterparts, but the show really picked up later and wound up being completely amazing. There were some absolutely hilarious scenes and some that were just fun to see. I definitely look forward to the second season starting this fall. I got to see the first DVD of Gunsinger Girl yesterday, which is interesting. The first 2 episdes seemed rather disappointing, but then the net three were great. I like the humble feel of the anime where the manga sometimes seems less relaxed, even when it tries to be. I watched PaniPoni Dash first 10 episodes, and it's good enough that I might go for the rest of the DVDs very soon. I'm mad that Bestbuy only ever has volumes 2 and 4 >_> I also started with DVD one of Coyote Ragtime Show - the only of UFOTable's magic trio to have made its way overseas. It's managed to be consistently entertaining thus far, so I'll definitely buy te rest. The only problem is finding somewhere that carries the vol. 2 + box. I've also got the first volume of Mushishi which I will be watching later today, though I already saw this part watching fansubs. The pacaging of the box and the DVD are breathtaking. Probably my favorite box beside Haruhi. Rounding off DVDs I will be buying Air in a cople of days. I might also be rewatching some of my other complete series like Boogiepop Phantom, Lain, or Kino's Journey... About 4 days ago, my house was equipped with cable to replace our satellite and we now get the Funimation Network, so I've started leaving it on at all times and watching some of the stuff making the rounds. The only show I've been recording and making special effort to view at it's times is His and Her Circumstances, which, within 3 episodes, has proven itself to be to most amazing shoujo ever. I can't wait to see it through. Oddly enough, both of my brothers' favorite anime are being shown on this channel: Hare + Guu and Detective Conan, so those should keep them busy at times. I managed to record the first episode of Kiddy Grade when it came around, so I'll be checking that out as well. I've also found some of the random episodes of shows I've seen to be entertaining. Kodocha seems like a hilarious wacky comedy that I'm willing to let stay on. Finally, there's the fansubs. I haven't had time to get to this much at all this month, what with having bought so many DVDs right after getting internet back. The one show that is a definite is Zero no Tsukaima, which my brother and I have been watching together and he's a big fan. I've also been, of course, watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - the best show evar. Baccano! I watched the first episode of and I'm not sure if the second is around yet, but I'll check it out when I can. I also absolutely need to hurry and find time to finish Hidamari Sketch. Not only i it one of my favorite shows, but it gets some kind of special this fall! I'm also trying to get time to watch Manabi Sraight with my brothers since I never finished it myself, and it's a truly amazing show, not to mention one of the three magic OFUTable shows. For manga, there are several things I am simply waiting for the next release of Hayate the Combat Butler needs volume 4 out, and Gunslinger Girl needs volume 5. Gunslinger Girl is currently my favorite manga - the brand of storytelling is simply superb. Also, Mushishi volume 2 came out just recently, and this time had a couple of stories I hadn't watched yet in the anime, which is nice. I've also picked up Venus Versus Virus volume one, which is one of those that you really need two volumes to decide, but volume 2 hasn't come out yet. There's also Welcome to the NHK which I'd be buying a lot faster if I was 18! Also, I'm thinking of ordering all three volumes of ROBOT which were on sale at this website for 10 bucks apiece. A monster deal... Oh! And Grave of the Fireflies comes on at 8, which I've only seen half of.
2. I think it's been almost a year since our last self-picture thread. That's kinda strange, considering how fast we usually produce these things. There's a lot of new members now who haven't had a chance to show their face, and a lot of us have matured, changed out look, lost weight, gained weight, what-have-you. Lets a reminder what yall look like, eh? As for me, I'm an ugly little bastard for sure... Banner by SunfallE Shinigami Dance Chapter One: Death Wears a White Dress and Carries a BLACK SCYTHE Figment A: Death Rides a Horse The tension in the room was overwhelming; the shadow of death looming over like a hideous beast stalking the frailest wounded prey. All around the boy, worried family held their breath in suspense of what would come. In the boy's own head things were tense but quiet. He told himself that he was ready. He'd come prepared. Readied himself for whatever might come. He had rested his mind and tried to embrace his destiny. Still, he couldn't help but quake lightly in fear of the unknown. It was a dark fear - a heavy burden to try and bear. A weight that would crush the mind of a weaker person and send them sprawling into fear. But the boy was fighting this fear. Like a fight for his life in the face of death as he awaited the imminent loss of his life. Indeed, while no one spoke, the tension of thoughts bounced off the walls and radiated throughout the room. Then there was a gasp. The boy's breath clenched in his throat and his face twisted in agony. Though they had known this would happen, the family was tormented by the vision. Tears were abound as all were forced to face the death of their family member. The choking lasted only half a minute, but anyone could have sworn it lasted hours. Then the boy, who lay in his own bed, in his own room, surrounded by his own family, no longer tried to breath. A scream burst the silence as a mother planted her face into her husband's chest. The boy was dead. *** "Hello there." Aeru chimed as she appeared beside the boy. The child sat up to greet her. The room was empty except for the young boy and girl. "Hey Aeru. It's time for me to go, right?" "Yes. I hope it wasn't too painful..." "It was... not so bad. I had episodes that were worse when I survived. And besides, now I feel better than I can even remember!" Though he said this with enthusiasm, the boy turned his head down. Aeru came to his side, placing her gentle hand on his shoulder. He bent her head down to his ear and spoke softly. "...Are you sure you're ready?" "......yeah....." Aeru closed her eyes. The boy began to gently glow - a soft white aura around his body. The aura grew brighter until the boy was no longer seen and then faded away. Aeru opened her eyes again. They were full of tears. "You're crying again? Even though he was so at peace?" Joe, the furry black cat with bat wings, floated above her shoulder. "So young..." "Everyone dies sometime. They say that the longer you live, the more you have to loose." "..." The room was quiet again. The tension and fear washed away. The echo of cries faded into nothing, The chokes and gasps came to a stop. The room was quiet. "It's nice today!" Aeru sang as she hopped along down the road. She laughed and twirled, dancing in the warm summer breeze. "I dunno, I'm rather bored. And we need to find a TV - I don't want to miss the next episode of Kanon." "Don't be so boring! You can't stay inside on such a nice day! Besides, it's rare to have so little work, and all so easy!" Aeru giggled like a young girl. Joe sighed, wondering how he'd become partner to such a child. "Do as you like, then. You said yourself that there was little work, so I'm going. If you need me, you'll find me in the nearest electronic store..." "Hey! For real? You don't want to play outside on a day like this?!" Joe ignored her as he flew off to go do as he pleased. Aeru puffed her cheeks. Guess I'll go have fun on my own. I'm sure I can find someone else to play with. *** *** "What the hell?!" A man holding a shopping bag gaped at something on the shelf. "Dude, Marty, check it out! This TV is changing channels by itself!" "What?!" His friend also turned in awe toward a large TV that was going on it's own switching through channels. "Curse these paws..." joe mumbled as he pushed the fat button a painful amount of times. "Here we go..." "It stopped... on the anime network?" "Oh my god, we were about to miss the new episode!" "The TV was giving us a sign! How much is that thing?!" "Ugh..." Joe sighed as he thought of how silly humans could be. "Hey, do any of you guys recognize that girl?" A kindergarten boy asked his friends. "I don't think though... we should let her come play with us!" A girl with pigtails remarked. She turned to the girl in question - she looked to be a second or third grader, the same as the oldest in their group. The girl had long white hair and wore a white t-shirt and shorts. "Heeeeeeeyyyyyy! You wanna come play with us?!" "You sure?" A first-grader asked, "she looks strange... her hair's all white like an old lady." The girl with pigtails turned to him angrily. "Don't be rude!" She turned back to see the white haired girl coming their way. "Um... hi! My name's Aeru. What's yours?" "I'm Rebecca, and these are my friends Johnny and Yuno and some of their friends. We're playing kickball, okay?" Aeru smiled brightly. "Sounds like fun!" *** *** "...And there's no way we can talk you down just 50 bucks?!" "I'm telling you, it's sticker price or bust, sir. This isn't a bazaar." "But that TV is important! It's magic!" Joe growled. "Sir, I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do..." "grr...." "Please!" "I said no!" "GRAAAAA!!!!!!!" WHACK! For a brief moment, there was confusion among the group, but it was quickly apparent what had just happened. The new girl had gone up to plate, and with a kick that could shatter bones, launched the poor kickball far into the sky. For thirty long seconds, the other kids stood with heads aimed upward following the beautifully devastating arc of the newly created projectile as it soared off into the distance. All the while, the oblivious girl making her round of the bases. "All right! Home run!" VWOOSH! All at once, a group of daggers turned to Aeru. In one of them, presumably the boy who owned the ball, tears were forming. "Uh... oops!" Aeru scratched the back of her head. What do I do?! "Erm... gotta go!" And with that, she disappeared into thin air. "Whoa!" "Where'd she go?!" Aeru and Joe found themselves once more walking down the sidewalk, now with heads down. "Hey Aeru... um... I don't think we work really well apart..." "Agreed." Just then a chime cut through the air and Aeru's head shot up. "My cell phone." 2 quick flips of the hand later, it was at her ear, and 32 seconds after that, it was in her pocket again. "Work?" "Yep." "We should get it done as fast as possible. I..." Joe turned his head aside, blushing slightly, "don't want to waste all of this pretty day..." A smile spread across Aeru's face. She quickly snatched up the kitty and hugged him tightly. "I'll be sure to do as much as I can as quick as possible, then!" And with that, she danced off to her destination. *** ***

Oi. This is now the official and apparently final Favorites thread, soon to be easily accessible through the Anime Lounge directory. I stress that you take my example to heart when you write your favorites out. Top Tier 1. NHK ni Youkuso (Welcome to the NHK) - Utterly dark humor spliced with harsh reality and drama that really accentuates the horrors of society and the brutality of social awkwardness. For someone like me, it?s not only a bit reflective, but almost an outlook onto my future. The show creates the perfect atmosphere of madness to the point that it?s like watching Hell itself. From the freaky and trippy imagery to the winding music and even Satou?s voice actor (this guy needs ore roles!) everything fits utterly perfectly. The entire show carries the feeling of total hopelessness that sinks deep into your soul. 2. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) - What?s there not to love about Haruhi? First of all, it?s absolutely hilarious. Second, it?s a damn good time no matter how many times you watch it and so strange that it?s hard to compare to anything out there. The show has some really deep plots that you couldn?t possibly see coming around the show?s utterly lightheartedness. Haruhi knows when to take itself seriously and when to be funny and alternates between them nearly flawlessly to create some really epic moments. I think the last episode in broadcast order makes for one of my favorite anime endings of all time. Lets not forget the memorable awesomeness that is episode 12 either. The best part of Haruhi, though, is the characters. Kyon is my favorite male lead or narrator ever, and the whole cast is memorable (I actually remember their names!) and fun. 3. Shin Seiki Evangelion (Neon Genesis Evangelion) - It?s been a very long time since I watched this show, which makes me question my own opinion of it, but from what I recall it was brilliant. An excellent blend of drama and action with the perfect dosage of psychology. End of Evangelion was pure excellency. 4. Serial Experiments Lain - In some ways, I feel like Lain is a little forced, because it almost exists just to show you it?s world-view, but at least the show is consistent and focused. From the beginning you know you?re dealing with a psychological journey that transcends just what you see and hear and forces you to honestly think if you want to understand. I think that episode 5 exists just to show you this. I understood most of what I saw in Lain the first time around, but I didn?t figure this one out until I read something about it in the art book which finally explained it. What I find interesting about Lain is that it is dark and deep without being a thriller in any way. The show doesn?t ever try to be cheap or thrill you - as I said, it?s very concentrated. Aside from the well-portrayed themes and way of making you think, Lain also tells a great story. Lain is one of the most human characters I?ve ever seen in anime, and she is so pathetic and pitiable that it?s sad just to watch her even from the very beginning, and her sorrows only grow and grow. It?s rare that I?ve ever cared for a character as much as Lain. I?d have to say this series has my favorite ending of all time, just beating the last 2 episodes of eva (but not EOE) 5. Mai-HiME - Easily one of the most impressive anime I?ve seen and my favorite since Welcome to the NHK. I?d lie to start by saying that, pacing wise, this anime was absolutely superb. In most anime there might be a certain part of the show that was slower or faster that didn?t feel right with the rest, or just an episode or two that were out of place or uninteresting. Mai-HiME never had any parts like that. 100% of the way through it was an awesome, eventful, fun, crazy thrill ride which could compete with s-CRY-ed in the world of over-the-top action/drama that leaves ou glued to the seat and begging for more. My favorite part of this show was most definitely it?s share of ?holy ****ing ****!? surprises. Starting from episode 8(?) and the instant realization that this show isn?t playing around, the action was constantly building and never ceased to amaze or become monotonous. Surprises waited around every corner and even things that you kinda see coming are twisted into something crazy and thrown back at you. High Tier 1. Kino no Tabi (Kino?s Journey) - this is an anime for relaxation, reflection, and deep thoughts. This is the kind of anime that makes you think, but keeps you entertained without overdoing it. I find it to be increadibly humble at all times and has an air of realism that you just don?t see in dramatic stories. Kino is a great character, and her dynamic with Hermes is always fun. This is one of the rare shows that plays well on all sides of the field. The calmer episodes are all done well, and the fighting scenes are equally great. Almost every episode catches you off-guard at some point with some kind of unexpected twist - some more expected, but others that make you full of shock and surprise. The last 2 episodes are some of the most heavy-hitting I think I?ve ever seen. 2. FLCL - Over the top, flashy, full of references and wacky comedy and absurdity? but simultaneously telling a coming-of-age tale of a young boy and his growth as well as an interesting world-view that keeps the scholars dancing. The ultimate soundtrack and the coolest visual effects, all packed into under 3 hours of high-octane madness. What?s not to love? 3. Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - The things that will stick with me after watching Utena are the characters, the imagery, and the ending. And, of course, that everyone ****s everyone in this show. Seriously. The chicks did the dudes, the chicks did the chicks, the dudes did the dudes. I?ve never seen such a hive of STDs in my life XD Nevertheless, the show had some great characters, detestable as many of them were. I find it funny that I ended up feeling a little sorry for Saionji and Nanami, despite both being such utter pricks at times. In the end, there wasn?t really any character who I absolutel hated? okay, I hate Akio, but then again, he?s the bad guy, you?re supposed to. The show showed all the characters in their serious and goofy moments, so that ou really got to know all of them in every way. I like that each of their individual stories is left open almost entirely, leaving you only with the knowlege of how the characters have grown. In that way, I feel there was a spectacular effort in focusing completely on the characters and not the story itself. What amazes me about Utena is that it can be cheesy, totally formulaic, repeat itself, waste time, and do it all with such utter skill and awesome that I don?t even mind it. That?s what makes the show endearing - while you know what to expect from each episode in that season (a bunch of duels and random Nanami adventures) you still want to see how they?re going to portray it. I also think that the formulaic nature of the series is what strengthened the final saga in a lot of ways. At that point, the plot is all coming together, but it keeps you in total suspense and only reveals it?s hand at the very last minute. There was really no way to predict how it was going to end. And when it did end, it did so with the sort of epic flair I was hoping for. The ultimate sacrifice of Utena and everything about the final stage, namely when the swords came down and destroyed the entire structure was simply awesome. It even had a nice conclusive aftermath that leaves enough to the imagination but still tells you what?s happening. 4. Kanon 2006 - It?s hard for me to talk about this show, since the best impressions are ones first given, and it? been a while since I saw it. Just go here and read the individual parts. Lower Tier 1. Air TV - I found this series to be immensely strange and intriguing. I didn?t really like how each character had their own arc and then basically never appeared again, but it gave them time to flesh out each character individually (curse of a game with multiple endings >_

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! (First Heaven Penetration Gurren Lagann) Pierce the heavens with your drill! The true man lives by the path of his soul! Never turn back! Press onward toward the heavens! Never be defeated! Now, let us do battle! Welcome to the world of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! This new drop from GAINAX has everything you could ever want! It's got action! Insane comedy! An over-the-top GAR factor! And the girl in the bikini with the huge boobz! the series opens up with the most simplistic, awesome explanation of anything ever by the main character, Simon. "My job is to dig holes. I dig holes so that the vilage grows. If I dig enough, the elder will be happy. He will give me a pig steak. So, 'do you do it for the steaks?' Not exactly..." Simon, the guy in the middle of the pic, explains this as he tunnels the earth with inane ease using his huge drill. Suddenly it strikes something and he stops. "...Sometimes you find treasure." What Simon has found appears to be a tiny drill charm on a string. Simon quickly leaves the tunnel, admiring his trinket. He is spotted by a few girls who point and make fun of him for being dirty and strange, then run off. Simon is saddened, but quickly bumps into his friend Kamina (guy on the left, pre-huge cape). Kamina tells him that he needs to cheer up, because it is his drill that will pierce the heavens. Kamina drags Simon back into a little alcove where he and three rag-tag teens are plotting to bust straight through the roof of their underground village and run of to freedom. All they need is for Simon to shoot straight up! The group mount a herd of wild boars which takes off up the slopes of the village, and erupts into a giant tower of boars reaching toward the ceiling. The elder, though, stands at the highest ledge and uses the sheath of his massive sword to knock the tower tumbling to the ground once more. The elder lectures the small group in front of the whole village, reminding them that the ceiling has been off-limits for many generations. he threatens the group to not continue their plans or they will have their food taken away. At this the three other boys chicken out. Kamina argues with the elder that he went to the surface with his father when he was a small child, and that he would follow in his father's footsteps and rise to the surface. During their arguement there is an earthquake and everyone runs into shelter as rocks fall from the sky. Simon is totally terrified, recollecting some terrible past event. Kamina holds him steady, asking "is this how you wish to live? In constant fear of earthquakes?" The elder retorts and has him locked up in jail. Simon returns to his drilling duties and has memories of his parents dying from an earthquake. He thinks that everyone will eventually die this way, and that's when he discovers a mechanical face the size of his own body poking out if the ground. He quickly tunnels into Kamina's cell and tells him to hurry and follow. While the duo are on the way, though, they are caught by the elder on night patrol and quickly surrounded. another earthquake occurs, and the villagers all run off, only this time the whole ceiling collapses, and in falls a giant nechanical face with arms and legs! Immediatelly it begins stomping on things and terrorizing the village. The elder is scared to the point of peeing himself, to which Kamina laughs and takes his massive sword, ready for battle. The sword is useless, though, and that's when the monser is suddenly struck by a massive bullet. Swinging in on a rope and carrying a sniper rifle is the big-breasted beauty Yoko (right in picture). After delivering some cover fire, she lands next to Simon and Kamina. Simon tells both of them to follow him to the face he found, hoping it may be able to help them in some way. As they tunnel around, introductions are shared. Yoko states that she's dropped in from the surface, but is a resident of "the neighbooring hole" (at which Kamina officially decides that she is ugly for beeing another undergrounder). The group passes by a window, and Yoko takes aim at the monster's transistor coils to try and kill it in one shot, but this plan is foiled by Kamina yelling at it, claiming that true men fight face-to-face. The three emerge at the place where Simon found the face and has finished diging it out. They notice that there's a cockpit on top of it. Simon asks Kamina to pilot, but he refuses, stating that since Simon found the thing, it is his. Simon is too scared, but Kamina convinces him to pilot it telling him "Don't believe in yourself! Believe in my who believes in you!" A pair of arms and a pair of legs spring from the mini-mech and it takes off at Simon's command. A masive, crazy, and utterly awesome battle ensues, ending as Simon rockets through the beast and charges it upward, through the hole where the ceiling once was, and up to the surface. The enemy mech explodes in a giant fireball and, after falling a few stories, the team finds themself on ground, but no sooner than they do, two more huge robots are right upon them! -------- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is full of wild and crazy humor and action that will keep your jaw open, your eyes peeled, and your adrenaline pumping. So far, three episodes have been released, and each has only been better than the last. The show moves fast and is constantly awesome. No matter who you are, you need to see this show. Now. 6. Manga

Nazo no Kanojo X (Mysterious Girlfriend X) is... an odd tale to say the least. The main character is Tsubaki Akira, your normal good high-schooler. However, the story begins when Urabe Mikoto transfers into his class. Urabe is an antisocial girl who sleeps through breaks and lunch. One day, Tsubaki goes back to the classroom to grab something and Urabe is still at her desk, fast alseep and drooling a puddle. Without thinking, he puts his finger into the drool... and tases it! The next day, Tsubaki feels rather sick and winds up with a high fever, staying home from school a few days. While he's in bed at home, he gets a visit from Urabe. Urabe gets him to admit that when he saw her laying on the desk, he fell in love with her, and she reveals to him that he is having withdrawal symptoms from her drool - that he's become addicted to it. And so the two set up a ritual where they walk home from school together and each day, before they part, Urabe lets him laste her drool via licking it from her finger. Before long, Tsubaki and Urabe become girlfriend and boyfriend. Nazo no Kanojo is awesome in more ways than I could easily detail. First of all, it's a manga that isn't focused on courtship like everything-else but about the growth of the characters' strange relationship. We continually learn more about the characters' emotions and -shock!- the relationship actually progresses! Not only that, but the pair have the most awesome way of communicating emotions ever - via drool and dreams. Urabe is probably one of the most original and awesome characters I'vee seen in a while and she's got the best down-to-earth attitude i've seen pulled off. Both of the characters are very 3-Dimentional in emotion and attitude. The first volume of the manga almost exclusively is about the two characters, and a lot of it takes place in the same scenery (the way home) but in chapter 4 we are introduced to Tsubaki's friend Ueda and his own girlfriend whom's relationship in some ways parallels Tsubaki and Urabe's. There is a lot of oddity going on in this series, but it doesn't flaunt itself. Urabe's hobby is to carry around a pair of scissors in her panties and chop things to bits, for instance. And there are seeral scenes (usually a full-page illustration) of Tsubaki's dreams with Urabe (usually very intimate) in a strange world. Plus the whole drool thing is just odd. But the main focus is the relationship and emotions which are done extremely well. The story is very warmhearted, too, with a bit of a comedy aspect to it. The manga-ka also did the story Yume Tsukai which is apparently known for being rather disturbing due to "oddly placed sex and the like" so I'm sure we can look forward to no limits in what to expect in this story. Oi. What are your favorite anisons and why? Or rather, what makes them so cool? The reason I ask has to do with the recent 100-greatest anison of all time list that the Japanese forum 2channel did which led me to do a top 50 list on another site which is still being judged. Over the last week and a half I've been addicted to anisons so I've created my own master to 50 list (you do NOT have to list this many, lol.) Just to comment on my top few. Firstly, the JAM Project masterpiece SoulTaker. Oh my god. It's filled with power, soul, spirit, and pure, utter win. Honestly, if you can't enjoy it, your brain is deffective. Once you know the lyrics, the whole damn song is a battle cry. I've talked about Odoru Akachan Ningen before in the music thread. The winding guitars and psychopathical lyrics pump pure win into every second. Boy is another awesome anthemic song of epic proportions. The Light Before we Land is addictive and will trap your mind in an ever-perpetuating cycle of listening. It's calm, soothing, and yet as epic as any. Speaking of epic that's were God Knows and Gotta Knock a Little Harder come in. God Knows being the shorter, more energetic song with moving lyrics and vocals. GKaLH is the soulful stairway-esque epic masterpiece sent from the hell of the blues itself. 1. SoulTaker - SoulTaker OP (link) (Music video) 2. 9. Music

I sent someone a link to Weight by Isis on Youtube earlier, and have since been trapped clicking between the tracks on Oceanic in a totally random fashion. Isis seems to have that effect on me where once I start listening, I can't really pull myself away - their mood is so distinct and sort of magnetic. I still don't think there is a post-metal band that matches them yet.
10. TV

I have been completely obsessed with Entourage for the past few months. It's just so perfect - the characters are awesome, the plot is great, every episode is funderful, and there are plenty laugh-out-loud or 'yes!' moments throughout. As an aspiring moviemaker, it's very inspiring and exciting to see what I might think of as 'my future' played out on screen. I could go on about all of the characters, but man, Ari Gold really does steal the show sometimes. He's better than Dr. Cox and House combined when it comes to being a loveable hard@ss, and unlike them, he's closer to my own personality, which has kind of had me obsessed with the notion of 'being Ari Gold' XD
11. Anime

When two characters won't stop yelling each-other's names. It literally infuriates me - NO real people call each-other's names back and forth like that, and why do they get to doing it SO many times at parts? It's rather unbelievable. My first experience with that was in .hack//Legend of the Twilight. However, the worst case was in Kurau: Phantom Memory wherein about 4 consecutive episodes consisted mostly of two characters calling each other's names, and I eventually dropped the whole show. It was very exacerbated by the fact that one of them was named 'kurisumasu.' "Kurau!" "Kurisumasu!"
12. Gaming

I recently played Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (you can read my review of it here) which is easily one of my new alltime favorites, and in fact the first game I've EVER beaten to 100% completion. What really made the game for me was the large-scale shoot-outs where you really needed to strategize, conserve ammo, and figure out exactly what you were going to do in what order, especially on Crushing difficulty. I would love to continue playing, which is why I'm glad the second game is coming soon and will feature multiplayer :D Besides that, I played about halfway through Infamous, which is pretty okay, and have just started on Xenogears, which shows promise already.
13.
Human lust. We as humans need sex to further advance our race. Sex is normal.
For these exact reasons, I don't get why you say cheating is wrong, especially if you understand this. I just don't get it, other than for religious reasons, but if it's for religious reasons than cheating is wrong for you, and not flat-out.
14. Writing

I was going to read the light novel Ballad of a Shinigami (the anime for which inspired the RP Shinigami Dance which has survived very well beyond me, lol.) I only read a few pages and already found myself unable to get into it. The translation is really boring and stiff, and it just doesn't seem fun to read at all. It already has to go back to the library, so I doubt I'll finish it. I've been doing my usual business of re-reading some of my favorite light novels and compilations (i.e. Boogiepop and Faust) with the hope of finally getting some blog posts made on the series, and volume 2 of Faust is apparently out now, which means I need it immediately. I infinitely recommend Faust to everyone, by the way. It's truly a must-read compilation.
15. Music

I'm listening to the Le Portrait de Petit Cossette OST right now. I have a headache, and for some reason Yuki Kajiura music always helps me when I have a headache. This is far from my favorite work by her, but there are some excellent tracks.
16. Felt like taking some pics of me with my "magic box" that m grandma gave me full of money for my graduation, which was about a week ago :D As you can see, I've been playing around with image effects lately, lol The Magic Box Quite a bit of bread Close it discretly
17. I don't want to make a controversial statement, which I'm sure this will look like to some, but I think the 'stupidity' of cheating starts with the 'stupidity' of marriage. Personally, I don't really care for the idea of a singular relationship and the set of rules coming with it, I'd rather just maintain an independent existence that interacts with other people than try to basically combine lives with someone, because no matter how I look at it, that just doesn't work for me, nor most people, which is why so many people end up in bad relationships. I think that rather than one socially acceptable method of coupling, we should choose whatever kind of relationship lifestyle works for ourselves. But of course, marriage is something so traditional and ingrained into our beings and beliefs that it's hard to think this way. I admit that we don't live in a world where my ideal romance could easily exist, much less be socially acceptable enough that a politician could live that way.
18. Anime

I just bought a whole ton of DVDs with money I got from my graduation, most of which are 90s OVAs and many of which are old Akiyuki Shinbo works. I also ordered all of Baccano which I will be forcing my parents to watch as soon as it comes in :D I most recently watched the 2-episode 1987 OVA Twilight Q which had an episode directed by the guy who did Ocean Waves which was decent, and an episode done by Mamoru Oshii, which was excellent, chalking up to another 'reason I barely don't hate Mamoru Oshii.' I also watched the first episode of Gun Frontier on ANN which was surprisingly fun, and am going to watch Space Symphony Maetel soon, mostly because Kikuko Inoue is in it as Emeraldas and she's coming to Otakon so I want to brush up on her roles, but it will also be a way to finally break into the Leijiverse.
19. Anime

I'm looking forward to almost everything that's airing this coming season, many for reasons already stated, but no one has mentioned the new Space Adventure Cobra anime yet! It's one of my favorite old school anime, having been done by The Almighty Osamu Dezaki, and Madhouse who is doing the new one as well. It's sure to be a hell of a time!
20. Writing

Jesus, this place must be really dead if no one's playing 55 Fiction :O No One Lives Forever He yanked his head right off his shoulders, like the pumpkin king himself, and the head in his hands grinned wildly, bemused, no doubt, at the shock that must have been written all over my face, and it spoke: "Danny boy, you worry too much! Just accept it, and enjoy yourself! No one lives forever!"
21. It is what it says. MY THING: (warning: this is a very immature thing to do, please leave if you are disgusted by immaturity.) Oh god this is embarrassing... well... this is something I suggest that anyone who reads manga while on the toilet should do. If you have a brother or stupid friend over, read the manga out loud in a really crazy voice. My brother and his friend were rolling with laughter when I read Naruto from the bathroom in a corny kungfu voice. They found it quite amusing when I bellowed LIGHTING BLADES!
22. Last year I rickrolled upwards of 20 people. This year I will do what I can.
23. As OB probably knows, I swear constantly both off and online. I'd say that people who 'don't like' or 'discourage' swear words piss me off more than almost any other kind of people. The depression hasn't really impacted my speech habits because if I cussed any more, there wouldn't be any regular words left, lol.
24. Anime
Currently, I've been watching Gunslinger Girl for the first time. I always thought it looked interesting, but some of my friends convinced me to actually watch the first episode a few days ago, saying how good it was, and so far I have to agree. I just finished episode eight, which is when they tell Angelica's story. Other then that, has anyone watched the second season? And is it as good as the first?
The second season is unfortunately the worst thing in the history of time. I personally am a huge Gunslinger Girl fan, especially of the manga, and thought the first season was a perfect adaption of the first 2 graphic novels. Unfortunately the second season is 100% different and horrible. It's done by a different studio with new character designs and voice actors and none of the emotion from the first series is there. Pretty much every Gunslinger Girl fan blasted the show and dropped it. I dropped it in under 5 minutes it was so horrible. This is a real shame because the manga really picks up whre the first seaosn left off. I highly suggest reading the manga.
25. Anime

It would definitely help if you told us some of what you've already read, since we don't know if we're just telling you stuff you already know. As for finding yaoi, uh... I'm no expert but here's a link to all of the yaoi manga rated 8 or above on MyAnimeList: http://myanimelist.net/manga.php?q=&type=0&score=8&status=0&tag=&sm=0&sd=0&sy=0&em=0&ed=0&ey=0&c[]=a&c[]=b&c[]=c&gx=0&genre[]=33
