Improvements over the years.

I haven't made a topic in more than a year that I forgot how to make it. >> I feel like such a n00b even though I have been here for more than a year. But I guess this thread/topic is just about my improvements, and you can talk about your improvements as well. If there is a topic for this already, I'm sorry. >>;
I guess I will start with my very first drawing that I drew in June of '08. Very old drawing. I was...15 I think and wasn't experienced with drawing at all. So, it's not that good to me, since I have improved a lot since then.
First drawing:

Then here is another drawing that I drew in February of '09. Big improvement in just eight months. I think I spent two weeks on this.

Two months later, I upgraded to color. x3 And I got a 100 on this for an art project. =D

And then in July of '09, I upgraded to markers.

And one month later, I upgraded to coloring my drawings with a computer. And I did not have an expensive program for this. I used Microsoft Picture It! which came with the computer that I had. >> And it is very cheap. lol

This drawing is from October of '09. It was an art project and I got a 100% on it. =D -upgraded to more realistic looking drawings-

And last, but most definitely not least, is my Assassin's Creed drawing. I spent about ...a very long time on this...maybe on and off for two months. But I didn't get to work on it every day because I had school to deal with. I think I finished this drawing in...March of '10. I haven't really drawn anything else since then that is as good as this drawing since I didn't really spend my time on them. But I got first and third places in two different art shows for this drawing and my brother is wanting to buy it from me, but I'm not going to sell it until I finish my senior year because there are some more art shows I want to enter in and hopefully win. =D But yeah, here is the picture. =P

So yeah...that's pretty much it. . . :V Edited by Lyndy

wow...
that is a lot of cool stuff.
for one, the first drawing is far better than i could ever do, so I am insanely jealous... but seeing all the detail in the last two pictures I was completely blown away.
I am sure time was a huge factor in making them that good, but it is still very impressive that you can make something that crazy pretty.
I can only imagine were you will go in another year if you keep this up.

I have to say the first picture already looks ace itself showing a great deal of feeling for detail, like shadows. However, while heading further down the post, stuff just keeps getting more detailed and realistic, with of course that amazing Assassin's Creed picture at the end. It's so detailed, just wow.

Also, I envy you for having the discipline to spend so many hours on your work.

I wanted to ask you though if you draw all of this by example, and if so, do you have any from-the-top-of-your-head material to show? Edited by Boo

Do you mean if I use references to draw these pictures?
If so, here are the reference pictures:
First Edward
Second Edward
Edward oil pastel
Sleepin' Ed (Not the exact picture that I used, but close.)
Brothers
Legend of Zelda
Assassin's Creed For this drawing, I thought about drawing all the detail...but then I realized how long that would take so I just decided to shade the area where there was a lot of detail, like for example, his clothing.

I'm not experienced enough yet to drawing something without a reference picture and make it look good. Although I did draw one picture maybe one or two years ago without using a reference...Lemme see if I can find it. . .Woot. Found it. But the quality is really crappy since I had a crappy camera back then. So I went to look for my sketchbook but I can't seem to find it anywhere. But the date I actually drew this is June '09. And I didn't use any references for this picture, so...yeah.
Annnndddd I think that is it. Edited by Lyndy

I think the 2nd Edward is the best drawing before Assassin's Creed, but that's just my opinion.

That drawing is one of my favorites, even though it is not my best one imo. But I've been thinking about redrawing that picture and improving it, since it is easier to see how much someone improved when you redraw the image. I might even use a different media and make it colored and make it more complicated... and also because I love Ed. :V
