1. Slang? We have very bad slang in our friendship group... like a mix of bad grammar, net speak and laziness. What are a few of the norm? B*tch - Used by basically anyone when reffering to someone smaller than ourselves. Vegie - People younger than us Sup - What is up -> Whats up -> sup An exercise in laziness, the phrase has been steadily getting shorter. It will one day be 'p' Poonce - Unliked. eg: Phillip is a Poonce Geek - Net nerd Nerd - Someone smarter than Mitchell (not hard) They're kind of common, but meh (also used extensively). We also have a bad habit of using net speak in convo like lol, rofl and saying actions like they are between *s. Normal conversation: CrH: Hey b*tch. Sup? Mitchell: Not much. Man Chris is a nerd. CrH:That's just cause he's smarter than you. Woah, watch the vegies. (*)Dodges short people(*). (*)Sees Phillips(*)PHILLIPS A POONCE!!! So yeah. That's slang words for you. They make NO sense whatsoever.
2. Bullying is a problem. Definitely, I agree with that. And group bullying is an even bigger problem. In primary school I had that problem all the time, being raised in a poor family with little food and etc. You've all heard it before. Bullies pick on those weaker than them, those they see as inferorio, or those that fit into a socially defined stereotype. What stereotypes? The nerd, the loner, etc. This was a HUGE problem until a did the insane thing and moved states to avoid it. When I came back, I was much bigger, and had somehow developed a loose-cannon personality (probably from the previous bullying) so I no longer get picked on. There is really only one solution to bullying though (as demonstrated myself in year eight) Make the strongest kid in your grade respect you. And I don't mean through friendly discourse...
3. It be looking good. But we need people to fill up the FF9 roles and Seifer. *grumbles* It's not like Zidane ever did anything to you...
4. Offline? Well, offline I am a self-confessed computer geek with violence issues. I'm rather sarcastic and get bored easily. Despite that I have a large friends list, that is almost matched by people who have a problem with me for no reason. Out of those friends I'd only consider a few REAL friends though. Like... Aaron, Chris, Toby, Mitch and John. *realizes his friends have such boring names* Somehow I seem to attract the social misfits and smart peeples. Online, I really can't say. As it is in life, it depends where I am. In large chats I'm different to when I'm in a one-on-one. At my other forum I'm different to I am at OB. It's all very odd. I also know that when chatting to Charles its unthinkable to chat the same way to Mimmi.
5. Bubblegum Crisis is what got me into anime. in one junk-food fuelled weekened we watched every last Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, whilst playing through the first three disks of FF9. We had lots of fun :D . But onto the point. of which there really isn't any. This show is similar in concept to Eva, but different in execution. Eva is about teens, and angst, about growing up and facing your fears. Things like that. BGCT2040 is basically about killing Boomers. It doesn't really start getting series until about... halfway through the series, as the first few episodes are ust about the characaters learning there thing. When it does start getting serious its quite good though, especially when
they realise their suits are actually boomers
. Honestly, thats all I can really think of. Apart from the
the characters fusing with their suits near the end
it is very similar to Eva. i like both the series, though BGCT2040 more, but in reality they are very smililar.
6. I think they happens to pages with Shoutboxes. It makes the pages incredibly slow when activetopic (shoutbox people) are down. It mightn't even load at all for some. I know it took me two minutes to open my own page and thats on an ADSL connection. And, at the same time, Activetopic is down.
7. There's no spots for females because there is really no female main characters/enemies in those games. Unless you count Ultimicea. But you don't really see enough of her to draw a conclusion as to her personality and so on. And my definition of a broadsword is a two handed weapon. Tidus quite clearly uses one.
8. Final Fantasy: When Worlds Collide ~~~Centuries ago, when the world was dark and men lived in fear, a cataclysmic battle was underway. Eight great men, four of good, four of evil had been drawn together to defeat a cataclysmic evil that threatened all universes, drawn together by the powerful multi-dimensional God Paralax. A great battle was fought, and thousands died across all plains of existence, until the eight found themselves separated and each destroying one 'sector' of this evil. With noone to rely on, each of the men fell, and Paralax was bound by the great evil into the core of a small planet in the Terra Dimension. Here paralax slept, until one day, during a great war on the planet's surface, he awoke, his slumber broken by the great evil's proximity to himself. Using the power he had gathered over the millenia, he called out to his champions once more, in an effort to destroy the great evil once and for all. the champions each woke, one by one, on the planet, alone except for their weapon. ~~~ Right, now we got that down, we decide how this is going to work. there is eight possible characters, all from FF7 through 10. We will assume they aren't possessing any spells (materia etc.) and they that are armed only with their default weapon. The characters to choose from are as follows: Cloud Strife - Broadsword: Taken by myself Sephiroth - Longsword: Keiji Squall Lionheart - Gunblade: G/S/B Master Seifer Almasy - Gunblade: Lord Rannos Zidane Tribal - Daggers: Mage 15 Kuja - Spells (only basic to start with): Taken by... guess who? *grumbles* Tidus - Sword: Ohkami Seymour Guado - Spells (same as Kuja): inti They will eventually find eachother, and will find their Ultimates as well (feel free to make one up for the evil dudes). Sign up sheet will look like this (you can get most infor from instruction manuals): Character: Age: (unknown if isn't documented) Ultimate Weapon: (make one up if isn't documented) Limit: (make one up if isn't documented. Initial only) Job: (from the game) Appearance: Picture is acceptable Bio: Just a brief history of the character will do. You should assume that Paralax (the God) has taken them from their dimension AFTER the game, and ressurected the dead evil dues for his cause. Personality: Wakes Up where: That should about do. This RPG will be as much about the interaction of the different characters and clashing of egos as well as the 'adventure' part. it will be run as missions (ie Meet up with other people). Getting around is your problem though. Intimidation or assasination? Its your choice. The Great Evil will eventually be revealed as Xalarap, Paralax' evil twin. Character: Cloud Strife Age: 21 Ultimate Weapon: Ultima Weapon Limit: Braver Job: Mercenary Appearance: Bio: Hero of FF7, Cloud was a mercenary who knew little of his past. Paralax plucked him out of his space in time shortly after combat with Sephiroth in the North Cave, and he has hated the God ever since. His Ultima Weapon was found within the heart of Ultimate Weapon, a beast of gargantuan propotions. Personality: Cold and arrogant. He opens up to those he trusts (even loves) but is known to have an anger problem and is prone to go on large revenge fuelled quests. Wakes Up Where: Tokyo, Japan
9. I thought of two things: 1) It is EXTREMELY descriptive. 2) Mitch has uncovered the foul creature that is 'The Writing Bug' Really, as usual I am absolutely no help when it comes to the 'Critique' of C&C, because most work is usually so much better than mine *coughnotthatanyone'dnoticecough*. Good work.
10. Why the hell is it doing that? I'm only getting an 'A' in my quote. *is quite annoyed* i think it is only registering the first letter....
11. Thanks man. I think. As I see you're new to the boards, mayhap I could remind you of the beauty of full stops'. Your advice is helpful, but hard to read.
12. I'm up to Chapter 4 and have to fight the zalamander. This is frikken hard, any advice?
13. I honestly did think it was beautiful when I first saw it, but when I found out the nature of the piece I kind of urked a bit. i'm not sure why, it may be my natural response to things my morals deem as 'dirty', but after finding out what it was... i didn't see it in the same light. I originally thought it was a digitally minipualted photo/painting framed. But when I found out I decided it was just not my kind of art. My kind of art is... paintings and screen-prints. Not urine-soaked statues. I don't know it it deserves to be in a museum though, I wouldn't go that far. It just crosses my moralistic line so I really don't think very highly of it. Art can cross any boundaries it wants and still be art. it doesn't mean it has to appeal to me, nor does it have to appeal to anyone. Art is what the individual thinks it is, so if the creator thinks its art, so be it. There is a German man (yes, its always the Germans) who 'plastecizes' dead bodies, chops them up and poses them. This same man did a public autopsy as performance art. Like people say, whatever spins your wheels...
14. The first time I heard Linkin Park I was completely rapt with them. And then I moved to a place where you couldn't get commercial radio and started listening to Triple J (alternorock). Then we moved back into commercial radio land again *shudder* and i was shocked to find the songs sounding ALMOST exactly the same. My problem with them is two fold. They are repitive. One can predict the flow of their songs before you hear the second bar. And that is usually shout, whisper, sing, shout whisper etc. Secondly, they have been classed as nu metal, of which there is many bands that do it much better. Korn, for example, uses the shout etc. format but just by listening to the first few bars its flipping hard to pick one song from the next. Like Mitch said, Linkin Park aint bad, there just not as good as a lot of stuff out there. Post Script: I liked them once. Honest. :)
15. Music is me. Without music I am nothing. Even though I can't sing for crap, without the ability I would go mad. A similar side effect would result from deafness. Many things about music appeal to me but the strongest thing is the ability to get lost in it, to escape on a well-played riff or melody. I concentrate better when listening to music, and I feel better also, and except for some genres, all music appeals to and enlightens me. I guess what I'm trying (albeit badly) to say, is music is the glue that holds my life together. my earliest and fondest memories are of music.
16. My favourite character, from any book EVER is, as said somewhere before in this thread (Christ I have a bad memory) is LeStat de Lioncourt. Why? Because he is the shiz. No, thats not why. Its because he has it all. The arrogance of a true anti-hero coupled with the occasional glimpse of softness and otherworldly powers. Second favourite is Takeo from Across the nightingale Floor. He is just REALLY cool. And his morals are incredible (proof of this: he lives in a japanese style honour bound society and refuses to kill people even though it is a mandate of his clan, thus risking losing his honour). He also has otherworldly powers, which just makes him cooler. Final favourite is Garion from the epic (epic=twelve books) Belgariad. He is so inocent yet so powerful at the same time. And his development throughout the books is satisfying and funny.
17. I heard, nay, read, an interview ehere he boasted about prison time. BAH! It was later revealed the most he'd done was three moths (or something equally crap) in juvi. Its as big a gimmick as his ego. I don't really like him and never will, and for him to do what he did at the Grammy's was plain crap. Their is so much good hip-hop and rap music out there, but fools like this ruin the general view for everyone.
18.
Originally posted by mangagod Ooh now see here. I got no will I'm locked up all day and only get out for a few hours at night. Night time is noo cool :) it really is. And I hate to ba a party pooper. But I think there is no point to life if we die any ways. As I say " The liveing envi the dead, Till thier dead them selfs. Then they envi the liveing. I mean how else do I explane zombies fanitisam, With eating liveing flesh of other humans? Well this should awncer some questions and start some new ones. But I hate starting something cause it always ends. Eventuly it all will end and when that day comes I'll be on my high horse. I'll be lookin down on the little people runing in fear of the apoculips. Ooc: please excuse my slopy and missspelled scinteces I have barly any time on-line.
... *sigh* What a depressing way to view the world. My belief si that we come to Earth to have as many soul-enrichening experiences before we die, spend some time in the afterlife, then come back and try to cram in a few more experiences needed for soul development. The notion that there is no point to life is incredibly stupid in my opinion, and it scares me anyone thinks that way at all.
19. Grammar. I'm sure its a good story but reading it was so flipping difficult because it hasn't even got the bare minimum when it comes to grrammatical requirements. You have some full stops, granted, but its incredibly hard to read otherwise. Mayhap you could run it through word and let spell checker fix it for you then post it again.
20. When did this go from a discussion on System of a Down to the merits of Korn and genre stomping? To me, System of a Down is NOT nu metal. Korn is. Its all in the subject matter. Korn =Whiney shout/whisper lyrics SOAD = Socially Conscious(sp?) lyrics Korn = Heavy sound warping (not all the time but you know) SOAD = Mainly instruments, not many effects Korn = Sold out SOAD = Yet to That's about all I can think of considering I've only been awake half an hour, but they're all relevant. Korn, and nu metal as a whole, is about an entirely different thing to whatever SOAD is (I hesistantly place them in rock). And I am a fan of Korn. So :P I'm not showing a one sided view.
21.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Record of the Year went to Coldplay, Album of the year went to Outkast... can someone tell me what the hell the difference between the usage of the words Album and Record?
Well, mayhap they were reffering to the wildly successful but undoubtedly rare 'Clocks Remix'? Maybe. The way I see it though it just seems like another way to waste another twenty minutes of air time, even if both of them deserved to win something. Evanescence winning Best New Artist is just another one of the quirks of the music industry, as even if they're not new when they get a breakout hit they are bandied around as 'new'. Another example would be when Triple M (in Australia) started proclaiming Something for Kate a great new band, even though they'd been around for thirteen years. 50 Cent not winning anything completes me somehow... I find him loud and obnoxious, and hate his 'rapping' especially that P.I.M.P song. Anyway, I hate 50 Cent, nuff said. Finally, my thoughts on Beyonce sweep? Sex appeal. The song Crazy in Love is just dripping with it. Nuf said.
22. "You are a fool Mekaryu," A-Jay said as he began to walk away, taking the rough direction the eagle had. "Humans are not beneath us, they could be our greatest allies if we merely respected them." He turned to look back. "Already I have seen their power, staves that shoot lightning." Mekaryu spat at the ground. "What would you know Ice Giant? Holed up in your palace for centuries? You never know what they may do!" A-Jay shrugged. "It is your choice, but if you make the wrong decision, the results could be terrible." He turned his back on the group. "will anyone else follow?" he asked as he started to walk.
23. I love System of A Down, they are completely awesome *smacks self in head for sounding n00bish* But I hated Toxicity. The only song I liked on it was that 'Why Cry When Angels Deserve to Die' song. i much prefer Steal This Album, because its so fast paced and fun. (And it has my favourite song of all time on it - Chic n Stu)
24. My favourite shirt is dead. It had a close up of viscious looking teeth on the front and 'Killer' writte in blood-like writing, then when one saw the back you would see it was really a chahoua (sp?). If I could get a shirt made custom it would simply have 'Criminally Insane' In big letters on the back. I want to get a cap like that too...
25. OOC: This is where he finally gets to the others... ------------- A-Jay was caught in a bind. He sent out a call for the other Titans to help but none answered. He must've woken earlier than his brethren. With a sigh he said, "Leave now humans, lest I grant ye an early grave." "Never!" boomed the man through the microphone. "Now hand over the sword!" A-Jay sighed once more. "I warned ye." At once a solid wall of ice appeared before him, at least three metres thick and as clear as glass. The soldiers immediately fired at it, leaving it dented with thousands of small holes, but few reach through and fewer still could travel further than an inch once broken through. Calmly removing his coat and shirt A-Jay then sapped the strength out of half of the soldiers, his muscles swelling to gargantuan proportions. Unable to take in any more of their energy he smashed through the ice wall, letting the remaining soldier's bullets wound him again and again, until he was amongst their ranks, tearing them apart piece with blade and fist. He had killed at least twenty before the remainder retreated. It was then he picked up a tingling. Another Titan. He recognized it as the wind element of Anima, and it had appeared suddenly, as if it had been a light switch. Expelling the excess energy he got dressed and started walking in the direction of the woman, the bullets that had pierced his flesh dropping out of the air when his muscles became to small to accommodate them all. Though he foresaw it as a great journey, he knew his ancient body could easily endure such a distance. Travelling through the air by freezing water vapour where it was he made short work of the trip. And it was there he, standing high above the ground on a rapidly melting platform of ice, he saw Anima, being hounded by that fool Mekaryu. He had never liked Mekaryu. He leapt off his platform and landed with an Earth-shuddering thump. The other Titans turned to see the intruder but he made no sound. "Bah!" Mekaryu said, "Its just the idiot A-Jay! Explain yourself Anima!" A-Jay sincerely felt like beating that man.
