Although I doubt that switching Raiden for Snake/Pliskin would make MGS2 a better game overall, it would seriously ease the pain of playing as that half-witted gimp.

My set up goes a little like... SNES: 8 games. Obviously none of them can touch Super Mario World or Super Metroid. PlayStation: Hmmm, I honestly can't remember how many games I have, but I have a crap load, trust me on that one. I think that Final Fantasy VII fits under the category of the few games that I've played over and over again. PlayStation 2: Piece of garbage, if you ask me. Again, dunno how many games I have, and don't really care. I'm not really sure whether I care that I don't even know where they are at the moment. :animeswea SP: My baby. Nothing will come between me and me SP. Nothing. I've got so many games for it, and the beauty part is that I've played each game more than once over, and I still have them all!!!1 GameCube: Only games to remain are Metroid Prime 2, Animal Crossing, and Paper Mario 2. I find the Cube quite boring nowadays, I dunno why, though. I should be playing Metroid Prime 2 again, really, on hard mode, but I really can't be bothered.

There aren't many mecha games that I've played for me to make a judgement on which one is my favourite, but I think ZOE deserves a mention here. The controls were a little jagged at first, but I soon got used to them after replaying many areas seeing as I was lost for the most part of the game, heh. What particularly makes ZOE stand out though, is the camera angles. They were never jerky, and neither did they ever just completely screw me over, by which I mean weren't set out of proportion when it came to head-on battles. I dunno what else I can say, because it was years ago since I last played the game. Some of the Gundam games are pretty decent, though I prefer them as fighters for some strange reason.

I never really played Rival Schools properly, you know. There was the one time when the newsagent across the road from my old school had it on an old arcade cabinet, where I managed to catch a tiny glimpse of it, and also the other time when I played the demo on the Japanese version of Pocket Fighters, but that's it. Anyway, heard the game's terrible as a fighter, though the idea is pretty cool after all. I mean, promoting gang and school rivalry is always the right way to go. Eh, kids!? :stupid:

Gaming Whats the score? (proffesional opinion)
BlueYoshi replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
Metal Gear Solid 3: 9/10 Gameplay: As far as 2005 goes, MGS3 has been the best game I've played so far. The controls are extremely user-friendly (even though it took me ages to learn how to grab an enemy without immediately slitting his throat), and are very easy to adapt to from a pick-up-and-play point of view, unlike Splinter Cell. The only problem I'd say I had with the controls was the first person targeting. I didn't like having to hold down L1, R1, and Square at the same time, because it felt a little bit too congested, but hey, I got used to it. Graphics: The graphics are a-okay if you ask me. They look stunning, and you're able to play through with them without the fear of glitches. The environment and terrain look top-notch, and objects and animals were easily distinguishable from each other, like the trees with vines that you're able to climb, for example. However, I always had the problem with walls, and which ones I could "slouch" against. I couldn't get my finger around which direction I'd end up facing, or whether or not it would affect my camouflage percentage. Though that was mostly in the jungle, indoors seemed perfectly fine. And before I forget, character designs rock, too. Amen. Sound: Very repetitive, but then again, who cares? The rustling of bushes when you walk through them sound almost life-like, and they're in proportion, too, so when you run through the bushes instead of walk or creep, for example, you can expect a louder, more noticeable noise. Gunshots; RPGs going off; SAAs spinning, breaking, and juggling... it's like you're actually in the game with them. :animestun Result: :D;):p:cool::catgirl::animeswea:animesmil: :animenose :D:animeshy: -
Just a little tip: Most of the paths blocked off by Denzium usually lead to upgrades and expansions, so if I were you, I'd take a mental (or written ;)) note of all the locations you've spotted so far, 'cause you could end up a very rich man, if you know what I mean.

Hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, the most annoying video game character ever is Blathers from Animal Crossing. He talks so much about himself and that crappy two-bit museum whenever you chat to him. Even if it's a small thing, he'll take forever to get off your case. If you do approach him for the reason of contributing something to the museum, then you're in for a long, one-sided conversation. Along with his boring dialogue, comes his stupid catch phrase which just bites the bullet... "But I digress". What really gets me though, is that if you've already contributed quite a lot of bugs and fossils and whatnot to the museum, then a lot of what Blathers will say has most likely been said by him before, like his facts about mosquitoes; I found that interesting at first, but having to put up with it over and over was just horrible. Perhaps if he said something different each time then it wouldn't be half as bad, and half as boring. ..."But I digress".

Surely a few of you will remember this one. I bought the game shortly after I got my first PlayStation, and I immediately fell in love with it. For it's time, it was a great platformer, especially that it was when to world was starting to adjust to 3D platformers, though that pretty much contradicts why Pandemonium was so notorious in the first place -- poorly designed levels which never brought out the best of the 3D platformer. But, that never bothered me one bit. There were two characters to play with: some girl, and a clown/jester type of person. I remember the jester being utterly and absolutely useless, having only a roll attack to help you out, as opposed to the girl's double-jump ability, which is like a godsend. I only ever used the jester when I wanted some variation, you know, so I wasn't being such a cheap bastard. There was a sequel, too, aptly titled Pandemonium 2. From what I played on the demo version, it's not as good as the first, but still fun. Anyone care to elaborate on that one?

It's not just violence that's the problem, as well. Hitman 2 was banned over here because it showed contempt towards the British Sikh community, as one of the missions in the game was based in India. Really though, I thought the ban was ridiculous; there are many games which give off this sort of vibe to Arab and middle eastern cultures, yet there's no need for those games to get banned. In fact, Hitman 2 involved a mission in Nuristan, where the bystanders were clearly Muslim, and the actual Athan (prayer) was recited every now and then. Seriously, there was no real disrespect towards the Sikhs though. All you pretty much did was shoot men who wore turbans. You didn't have to trash the temples, or piss in their holy water. Manhunt was also banned here in the UK. Apparently, some kid killed his schoolmate by bashing him one on the head with a hammer, and told the officials that Manhunt had influenced him, thus causing the ban. Banning a game due to directly one person's actions is a bit extreme, I think, but from another perspective, it shows that the government is doing what they can in order to prevent anything like so happening again. Heh, if they're going to ban Manhunt, however, they may as well ban every other violent game, because it's more than just the title name that does the damage.
-
I never got to play the sequel, either. It's supposed to be better from what I know, though I could be wrong judging by how developers have a tendency to turn something good into one of the worst things on the planet. Good game though, I'd pick it up if I saw it. Can't be too expensive at this time.

Hmmm, I dunno, really. I don't think it was a certain game that got me into gaming all together. My first major console was the SNES, with my first game being Super Mario World, though as great a game that was, it wasn't "the one" that got me into this mess. I'd played many games previously before that though, many Atari games which were plain shite, but fun, but fun nonetheless. Robocop is the only one that stands out. When gaming went to the next generation after that (you know, like PlayStation and DreamCast), I only started to recognise the older more nostalgic systems and got into them. Some were good, some were crap. Perhaps if I had played those older games back in the day when I was wearing nappies, it would've changed my mind for the future, and I wouldn't be here making this post. Oooo... eerie.

According to the many reviews I've read on this game, it's suppose to be the same thing. Personally, that's how I feel about it, and I pretty much gave up hope for Tenchu after Tenchu 3, because it was so poor. I think the ability to move bodies and that could be kinda interesting though, because it would probably mean that the stages and environments you play in would have to be slightly enhanced in order to effectively pull it off. I can't really see you effectively hiding any bodies in the previous Tenchu games, as opposed to MGS, where you have small gaps, niches, and dark corners to do what you want.
I doubt that anyone, no matter what they say, will play a game that isn't fun. No matter how good a game looks, if it's not fun...chances are, you won't play it. Simple as that.
I guess I'm an exception, then. With Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, I played them purley and solely for the storyline. No lie. I guess I was curious to see how the game played as well, overall, but for the most part, it was definitely the stroyline. It's obvious to tell by the way I played both games, anyway, because instead of taking my time with them and playing through everything that the new systems had to offer, I rather rushed through them very impatiently, only stopping to actually see the cut scenes and whatnot. Man, they're so great.

"Yeah, so you got that exam on Friday?" asked Brother. "Yeah," replied Kas. "You studied at all, dude?" asked Brother. "Don't be daft... I've done some revision, of course," answered Kas. "Worried?" asked Brother. "A little," replied Kas. "Good," replied Brother. "The opportunity cost of me writing this story is me not revising," explained Kas.

Fox and the dino side-effect are sentenced to exile for being "different".
-
That's a good point. Regardless of who will be directing MGS4, and who will be in charge of the mechanics, it'll be interesting to see how the gameplay is adjusted so as it'd be just as revelling as MGS3's overall camouflage system, particularly in modern times. I usually find MGS a lot more fun to play without the radar, so MGS3 not having one at all doesn't really make it a bigger deal for me.

When going for endings, it's your item percentage rate that counts, and not your scans. To get the third ending, I think you need 80% of the items. I got 86% and it showed
Samus in her blue spandex, outside of her Power Suit.
Not only that, but you get the
Monster Image Gallery
, as well.

Bah, I'm gonna have to go along side Morpheus and say that my all time favourite is Nintendo. The stuff they come out with is gold. Pure gold. Not only that, but Nintendo have applied some of the most unique concepts in their games, like Mario being a plumber, and Donkey Kong being a... monkey, except he doesn't seem so stupid when you look at him nowadays. Aside from all the sugar-coating and whatnot though, Nintendo really have changed throughout the years. Mario's transition from 2D to 3D was an amazing step for the company, even if some of those titles didn't work out (Sunshine and Mario Versus Donkey Kong ). Not only that, but two of my favourite game franchise series are home to Nintendo as well, being Metroid and Zelda. Those are two of the few series of games that tend to get better with each release, in my eyes. There are other companies, too, though I doubt that I'd ever love them more than I do Nintendo. Capcom comes to mind, as does Rare, and so does Enix, heh. I know that other companies exist, too, but it seems that some of them tend to spark up a decent enough game once every two or three titles. Now, I will end this ghastly fan-boyish post before I get jumped.

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty: Nominations (2004)
BlueYoshi replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
What is it? Play It [Forum] Why is it Nifty? It's what brought me here, and is why I'm still here. Without the main-stay members who post there, then Play It would just be a n00b's nesting ground where all you'd probably see is "53P|-|iR0Th ownz0rz j0000z", like in most other message boards. Play It nerds = sexy. Love ya all. What is it? ScirosDarkblade [Member] Why is it Nifty? I dunno why, but I have this image in my head that Sciros is like the bad-guy of OtakuBoards. I might get slapped for that, since he's such an avid Batman fan, but eh. Anyway, I think he's kickass for all the discussion he's created within Play It, alongside many other forums across OB (even the Art Studio, dammit!). Kudos. What is it? Alan [Member] Why is it Nifty? When I first came to Otakuboards he was known as CrH, or Criminally Random Hero, and that's exactly what he is... dunno about the hero part though. :drunk: He was the first guy ever to chat to me via AIM, and has proved to be a great guy, and a great friend. It's a shame that I don't get the time capacity to use AIM anymore. Sad. What is it? Plumber Bros Inc. [Member] Why is it Nifty? Because it's the only RPG to have ever sparked my interest during my time here (except for Paranoia; if only the sign-ups lasted a few nights longer. Damn you, damn you all). Kickass RP though; very innovative. I know I'd be willing to post there if it ever did come back. Or, who am I kidding, I ain't clicked on the Arena in ages. It is still called the Arena, right?... right? What is it? Turdle [Member] Why is it Nifty? Because, that IT got me my badass Metroid banner. Rock on. What is it? Play It Staff (Desbreko and Shinmaru) [Members] Why is it Nifty? These two dudes maintain law and order in the crazy world of Play It, and aren't so stuck up about their jobs, either. I mean, the way that Shinmaru takes the piss out of those stupid dumbass threads that make little to no sense in neuron capacity is -- what's the word -- ah, yes, funny. Desbreko, you ******* rule, too. What is it? Hevn [Member] Why is it Nifty? She registered in the same month as me, so therefore she rocks. No, what I mean to say is that by DEFAULT she rocks. Well, it's typical of me to leave these things to the last minute, so to everything that I missed out, I had my chance and blew it. -
Nintendo DS isn't a GameBoy, and neither is it a part of its product range. My purchase would definitely go to the GBA2. I love handheld gaming, and I think that some of the best games ever have been released for the GBA, not to mention the GameBoy. Hopefully, Nintendo will get it 100% the first time round, because having to get a GBA and then an SP really peeved me off. So, I'm really routing for the next generation of handheld systems. As for the platforms, my reaction towards them are a bit "eh". I mean, I'm expecting great things, but like the current systems out now, I can only say that the number of great games are limited between them. Perhaps time could change my mind though.
Alternatively, just take a gander at this[/url'], and be glad her that fictional-character-fetish isn't nearly as bad. That guy's site is freaking scary.
Okaaaaaaaaay. Weirdos like that should just be... shot. Anyways, my advice to you, whoever you may be, is to copy this "Bakura" in every possible way.

What OB members do you know, or would you like to meet in real life?
BlueYoshi replied to Boo's topic in General Discussion
I've made two posts here and I still haven't made my list. Oh well, just goes to show. Anyway, here we have it: Alan: He's an internet nerd and one hell of a sarcasm clown. Believe me, this guy's sarcasm will have you ripping the hair on your head from your roots. Plus he's the first person to have ever contact me via AIM. Whoopdy-doo! Hevn: See above. ~_^ Shinmaru: Funny guy, with his Simpsons/Futurama/Family Guy humour and all. He always seems to have a comment for everything, too, so meeting him would be pretty cool. But then again, I'd probably end up losing years off my life. DDG: I've never actually chatted to you before, but by reading through your posts and myO entries, I can tell that you'd be someone I'd definitely like to meet. Pokenerd. ;) Siren: Well, you're an all-out intelligent guy, who are the type of guys I generally like to hang out with anyway. So there's no mystery as to why I'd wanna meet you. I really can't be arsed to write anymore, but others on my list include Zidargh, Juuthena, and ScirosDarkblade. Sorry that you had to be in the "short short-list", but I've just received some really bad news. Don't worry though, I don't think of you in any way less than I do the others. ~_^ Ciao for now. -
Hmm, makes sense. I never really noticed that the games had a coherent storyline like that; with the pairs and all. I haven't played FSA enough to tell, but TMC plays so much like TWW, except that it's in a totally different perspective. Though, I don't see how that could have any effect on the story line, heh.
-
I will be 18 tomorow. I'm not an anime person, nor do I really like it. What sparks my interest are video games. Not only do I love playing them, but I love evaluating them and keeping up with the latest news in the industry... you know, kinda like gossip, except it's for nerds. :D

BlueYoshi replied to Boo's topic in General Discussion
He's Bombu now. Tell him to stop changing his name! :D
I was on a Metroid high when I decided to change it again, and now I'm not. I'm an idiot. :( School is both the barrier and the borderline that stops me from surfing OB as much as I used to, which is why I no longer get to do neat stuff like AIM, RPGs, and myOtaku. I just about manage to pop in here every now and then to make the odd post, and maybe an insult or two.
