What is the most weird thing an old guy ever told you, or did? I guess the most weird thing ann old guy did when i was there was when one tried to start a conversation. Id dont remember much of it, cos i was trying to get rid of him. Ive edited this to say 'weird' instead of 'pathetic' cos i think pathetic is just a bit mean

Things your city/state probably doesn't want to be known for...

I live in Stoke on trent, England. Its the hometown of robbie williams, which is good. Its also the home town of the captain of the titanic. which would be nice if you ignore what happened to the ship. -

As i have said, I am doing a degree in physics and biochemistry, so rationality is just what i do. thinking rationally, it makes sense that an all controlling god should betold of to people so that those who convey the message of god are ultimately in control. If they choose to say that god gives them absolute decision on what happens, then they cangrow to blieve in their superiority over god. They convey messages to the masses, it is gods will, they say. Over time (what, 5000 years at least) this becomes diluted somewhat, and even those in control forget that this was ultimately the aim of introducing a religion. HOWEVER I also realise that some pretty weird stuff happens for there to be no god. Not just in our lives, but in science aswell. There is a fundamental rule that you cannot possibly measure anything to a high degree of accuracy without altering the system, which creates an large uncertainty in another measurable value. On its own this is common sense, even if you use light to find the speed of something, the speed will change slightly, though it is only affected dramatically if a high level of accuracy is measured. However this allows energy to be 'borrowed' for a certain amount of time as long as it is 'paid back' after a certain time. We can not do this, but somehow nature can. It is the reason that radioactivity occurs. Where does this energy come from, if it wasnt there before? We do not know. This is just one of the many odd things about quantum physics, which shows that there are some things that we just cant know.

I prefer the 'warm' range, but being in the uk we more often get the 'cold wet and cloudy' range

OK Ill explain the concept of what im saying. Anti matter is the opposite of matter. If you mix equal amounts of matter and antimatter, they are converted to energy. It is believed that antimatter moves through time in the reverse way that we do, ie from future to past. Antimatter is acted on by gravity in the same way as us- we know that anyway. What im saying is i think that if youlooked at antimatter in the same time direction that it goes through (future to past) then gravity acts in the same way, and in the same direction. In other words, gravity is an attraction force even if you look at it backwards. Confused?

18, male I live in the UK 1- I live in the uk and i understand that you have an issue with gun control 2- I think you shouldnt need more laws to prevent minors getting weapons, but I know that even with the toughest laws, there will always be someone who gets away with breaking them. 3- Unfortunately not. Guns are useful safety measures. Psychos are killers. 4- If there were no guns there would only be something else, less dangerous maybe, but not necessarily more peacful. 5- d. Allowing people to get a permit at the age of 18 wont solve the problem. An 18 year old with a gun is as dangerous as a 2 year old or 13 year old with a gun. However much caution is used in storing guns, there is always the odd corrupt employee who can pass them on. Unfortunately the only solution is to find out who the madmen are before they do the damage, which is near impossible.

Ive thought hard about this and i reckon that my rule of gravity working in forwards and reverse also applies to any force in general. When i say 'my rule' I do not actually claim to be the first to think of it, i just claim to have thought of it. Would you like a disclaimer with that?

I keep getting strange dreams where someone decides to start a fight, and no matter how hard I throw a punch or kick, it always hits like a pillow and i can't hurt the guy. Have you ever had a dream where you realise that youre dreaming and you can do whatever you want. Theyre cool. Just after I wrote that I looked down the page and saw that some of you have had them, but I dont wake up after I realise Im dreaming, I lose control after a couple of minutes and kind of stop realising im in a dream.

A thought occured to me the other day. Before I tell you what it was, I just want to say that I dont think about this stuff all the time, but occasionally it just 'occurs' to me, cos I am doing physics at degree level. I was thinking about antimatter, which apparently goes the time in the opposite direction, and I thought- how does gravity affect antimatter? After A lot of thought I realised that it is affected in exactly the same way as us. I will explain- If you are left a mile above the earth to fall (unlucky guy) and someone measures the speed you go down at, you see a constant increase in speed, until the big moment where you cease to be a person as such. In this time, you go from a LOWER speed to a HIGHER speed, downwards, so you are accelerating downwards (if youre lost, give up now). If you look at this in reverse, you start at a high speed and slow down, but UPWARDS, so you still accelerate down. There you go. If you move backwards through time, gravity affects you as if you went forward. Anyone who understands this, thank god youre out there.
Originally posted by Gee-enki Dama What can go up a chimney down, but not down a chimney up? Romeo and Juliet are dead on the floor. Around them is glass and water and the windows flap in the stormy winds. Outside, it is raining heavilly. How did Romeo and Juliet die? A man is found hung from a rafter in an 11ft room with a pudlle of water on the floor. the rope is only 3 ft long. There is no trace of a ladder. How did the man hang himself? A man is heading straight towards the centre of a field, and knows very well that he is going to die, and cannot stop the fact that he will. Why? Classicly easy ones :)
1- an umbrella 2- firstly id like to say that WINDOWS do not flap, curtains do. They died cos the glass from the window killed them 3- the guy stood on a lot of ice 4- the guy is FALLING towards the centre of a field. My riddle- What has four legs but doesnt know it?
