Well, in that case I will apoligize. simply said.... I am sorry. Although, now I want some serious talk from veggy, cause this is all very not cool of someone to do. so... seph you better speak up and soon. Although, because I am honest as often as possible, I must say I am still skeptical.

I was just now thinking and looking at alot of the other post here. And well, if we are gonna consider the cartoons we watched as kids, long before we knew them as anime, as the beginings of when we started watching anime; then I think I would have to say I started when I was about 6 years old. Watching ronin warriors, transformers and robotech. That would mean Ive been watching for about 15 years now and my taste in anime hasnt changed much at all. But I still sorta think that watching robotech as a kid for any of us, isnt really the start of our anime watching. I would say the begining would have to be the first time you watched and were conscience of the fact that it was a foreign cartoon refered to as anime, and not a mainstream part of american society. But like I said, when our anime love started is completly up to the person posting. If you think watching sailor moon as a little kid or macross in second grade is the begining, then thats just what it is. Plus the topic is really about when your love for anime first developed. So if it was with robotech in '86, then thats when you first got in. How ever you look at it. I think its funny to see how everyone got into it. Especially anyone who started with the pokemon, sailormoon, dbz, trio. Those are probally responsible for getting more people into anime than any others. Except maybe macross. But either way, I find it funny cause I got into anime on none of those three. Does that make me odd or rare? I doubt it, but I personally want to know what got rick hunter into the anime scene. Was it the old school cartoons like robotech, long before we had ever heard the word "anime"? Well, we'll see, hopefully.

Well, I wish you good luck. I moved away from my home town after I had graduated from highschool. But I didnt move to go to another school. So I had a really hard time meeting people, which I still havent done. So, since your still in some sort of high schoool/ middle school, I think that you shouldnt have too hard a time. Just remember to be yourself and not to be scared cause theres nothing to be afraid of. Good luck.

I have most of my friends through situations like the above mentioned events. Although, I dont have any friends any more, so... I think this is a good thread topic though. I tend to be the guy who is one of the first to go and talk with the new guy, so I always end up being suprised to find out about things like stuff we have in common. I always end up befriending the people who are unknown wealths of good conversation. Most of the time, if they dont like anime, they end up liking it after hanging out with me. I also should mention that I got into anime long before I ever knew about dbz, with that in mind, a little asian freshman in one of my classes that I befriended introduced me to dbz and since then I was hooked. For that, I will always remember him.

Well although I think this topic has come up before. I love the topic. I consciencly got into anime when my cousin came to my house for thanksgiving, 7 years ago as of this thanksgiving. On a side note: I used to be a big pot head and the first time I got high, was the same night that I watched anime for the first time, on thanksgiving night. I watched two movies, the macross movie, rick hunter could remind me of its name.(it was awesome) And the original vampire hunter d. (also a classic) Ever since, I was into it super hardcore. I said consciencly into anime because I am not counting the stuff I watched as a kid, like any robotech or ronin warriors, which was long before I was aware of the idea of "anime." back then, it was just cartoons.

I used to like rage, until I thought about how the lead singer, de la rosa, supports the ideas of che gavera (sp?) you know, the communist revolutionary from mexico. I dont like hipocrites that sell their crap in a free market and then act like that culture is the horrible oppressors, all the while supporting communist. Thats just me though.

Well, like I mentioned above. It was someone elses story. Not exactly historical fact. I did say someone was gonna have a hard time with it. I know its not a hot topic. I also know what the english did to the native americans. (eventually it became an entire nation of people) I hope you guys can manage the story part with a grain of salt. The points we made about the celebration were basically the same, althought thinking back, I do see myself leaving out the exact words of "thanks" which is rediculous. Any way, its about thanks. I gotta say though, I can see a moral delemma with being part native american.

Well in honor of enigma and other people on the boards who are not American, I will give the idea behind thanks giving. (Im sure someone's gonna have a field day with this.) Thanksgiving is supposed to be based around the story of the first group of english settlers that kept a settlement alive to be the begins of America. Story is that sometime into the first settlers stay, after the point where women had been brought to the colony. The Europeans (Im gonna call 'em euros) It was the worst winter yet, and those winters were killing off bad numbers in a small population. Things were at their bleakest when the indians befriended the settlers taught them about growing vegetables of the area. (corn and pumpkin amongst other things.) Used all of the vegetables and turkeys and what not. And had "a wonderful feast, all together." (thats my quick way to say it, theres nothing offical.) The settlers managed after that day and made it through the winter, eventually growing to become America. Thats it. The idea of being with friends and family and enjoy the bounty of life. One day every year. I think its the last thursday of every november. In cultural terms its closer to a winter harvest feast. That being the time before winter when cultures of colder areas tend to down size their live stock to do many beneficial actions, including gaining wieght, to prepare for the winter.

I think thanksgiving is good just because it slows us down and allows the luckiest of us who can be with thier loved ones. I also like the board games thing I read above. (forget who, but good call) Since this thread is up, that means we on the boads noticed thanksgiving, even when the stores and commercials didn't. Theirs gonna be a little football on t.v. but thats about all. The money just isn't in thanksgiving like it is in christmas. But those of us on the boards noticed and seem to enjoy it. That said, I hope you all have a nice holiday. Plus its not international.

I know this had to have been noticed by those who dont like the original db. It is with out a doubt one of the better fights to go down so far on what toonami has showed of the dragonball series. "the strong ones." that was a great ep. So what I want to talk about here is what everyone thought of the most recent dragonball eps. to air and what everyone thinks of the more action packed dragonball stuff that is from later on in the series. so... what do you guys think?

I was never really into nofx, but then my cousin came down and made me listen to them. He had his punk in drublic cd. It was great but I didnt realize it until way later. He played his fav. song on the disc and it was scratched. He said he was so dissapionted and gave it to me before he left. Somehow the next day the disc played fine and now years and years later, I still have it and its one of my favs. I like nofx alot. they rock.

Has anybody else seen this show. Its a late night deal that is just horrid in a jerry springer way. Its all about people who cheat on their "companions." Im sorta suprised that this stuff is out there, but its what happens. Heres the deal. The "investigators" of the show follow the "suspect" around and spy on them cheating. It almost shows you how low people are getting to be these days. I just couldnt stand it, in fact, I didnt even catch it first. My brother showed it to me and its just horrible but like I said... in a springer way. Damn this show is scandalus. **** man, its just rediculus. But addictive in a sick way.

Well actually I think its more than corprate america. See, the way I figure it, its the people. Corprate america will put out christina agulleira for gods sake. With that kind of filthy crap, its obvious that the people who complain are the ones calling the shots on what are acceptable. I would say this is just what happens when objects (cartoons) cross cultural barriers. But still, its pushed by the corps. and so... welcome to corprate america.

YUP! This last ep was really a good one. I love seeing the relationship with kogome develop. I almost like the relationship development more than the action... almost. This show is great but I really need to see more. I kinda just wish they would skip out on the filler eps and move to all of the major stuff. But unlike dbz this show has wonderful filler eps. I wish I had been recording this from the begining. I guess Im gonna start. out of curiosity, does anyone know how long cn plans to show inu yasha before doing eps. they have already shown?

I love those daft punk videos. Theirrrrr grreatttt! As for the rest I dont really know much. But judging by mody and daft, I can assume anything else mentioned is of the same genre and hence I say this... I am a fan of all music, but I tend to prefer the kind of music where people play actual instruments like guitars, pianos, violins and anything else thats not electronic. Of course, thats just me.

I can understand this feeling. Its hard to deal with, I know. But the only thing you can do that would be positive, would be to let it out. After doing that, its time to start with the justifications of why its better for you to move on. Even if you dont really feel it, you need to pretend to believe it. Just tell yourself whatever nessecary to get away from it, and always do your best to keep occupied. Most of all, dont kidd yourself, its best to start with moving on whether or not you understand the events that have already taken place. I'm not saying to ignore the past for good, but for the time being, its not a bad idea. I hope you can get over this quickly. I know you can get over it. But I am hoping for your sake, its quickly and not like some of the horrible events so many of us experience. good luck.

Hey hey hey! Amazingly enough, my struggle came to an end tonight. I think Ive gotten myself a girlfriend. After a night of slowly drinking and still keeping sobriety, the girl from my above post and myself sorta made it obvious that we liked each other "like that." So now I can give you the little advice thats possible, also the advice I hoped I would be able to give. I can say this, besides anything I mentioned before... little things like how she would say to me "I'm glad you called" but she said it more than once through out the night. Subtle comments about being an interesting person or a good person. Any little stuff like that, blent in with the occasional obvious flirt or comment about "sexual tension." I would say any of that is a good sign. But since I have gathered you are a girl wondering about a guy, I would say that he will come out and say it eventually. Unfortuantly if hes anything like most of the guys like myself and a couple others on the boards, it will be said at either a bad time or way too late. I hope things work out for you.

Im under this sort of stress right now. I dont know whether or not this girl likes me and shes not making it obvious at all. I dont really know exactly what to do, so Im just gonna keep going on with my life the way I was before she went out with me. (wensday) I really dont know what to do or think but oh well. Ill come back if I have any luck. But so far all of the interaction between her and I is border line obvious flirting and just friends. I guess when I say it like that, it sounds pretty bad. But there are some things I wouldnt be able to explain. Like I said we'll just see. As for you and your questions about how to tell. I would say the best give away is the failed "I gotta tell you something move." If he goes to tell you something, ends up in an uncomfortable silence, and says something completely unrealated to anything, thats your sign. The part he was gonna say but didnt, was "I like you."

I gotta say that the way zero listed recommended games was awesome. good job, zero. I would in that case I would like to iterate the game Socom: navy seals. For me its hard like no other, but if you can deal with socom, it's the best "modern tactical combat" game. I did notice that the thread mentioned fighting and whatnot but I just thought I would say my personal recomendation.

Now that is the kind of discussion I was hoping for. Thanks seph nin. I was hoping to learn about its overall quality and what not. It seems to me this thread is gettin it done. It did take some time for people to come and get involved but I would say its picking up a bit. I am wondering though, is this game worth getting in comparison to all of the new age 3d fighters. Also, is it as "action packed" as the marvel v capcom stuff. See, I really like the snk charactors, I think they make the perfect complement to the capcom line up.

I woulnt mention anything people have already mentioned. so... If would ever be intrested in a flight sim/ arcade style piloting game. I would give Ace Combat 4 a try. Its the best piloting game out there. I would also suggest good old tony pro skater 4. Highest level of thps yet. But Im sure it will be no time before they release number 5. I will say that although the tekken games are great, if your not a die hard fan, but something else. I rented tekken 4 and beat it with every player during that one rental. Its just not all that great unless you have dozens and dozens of friends to challenge you. I hear lord of the rings 2 towers is awesome. I may get it. And dynasty warriors 3 is supposed to be awesome. I would suggest socom: navy seals, but the game, although really awesome for the genre, is just lacking in its perception of realism and overall playability. Its fun and if you want to play a good game on a broad band internet connection, its a great team shooter. But for the single player, its only so good. I own it, but sorta wish I didnt, or just wish I could beat it on this new difficulty... anyways. I also suggest splinter cell or metal gear solid substance. They both look to be great covert action games. Good luck on your quest. I know finding the right game is really hard but the really important piece of advice I could give at this point is one thing. Rent first.

What I wonder about is why everyone always picks these little asian fellas for roles/charactors that are like 6 foot tall and with pasty white skin. Im not saying everyone should be white or anything so silly, just that I think type casting is good for this rather than the other casting. (dont remember the name) Its good to have someone to look like the charactor, we can have them learn the karate and what not later on. Shoot its not like keanu reeves was a karate boy before the matrix. But they sure made him into one bad dude. I think the fella that played bruce lee in the movie "dragon" would be good for the law part. Lei wouldnt be bad with jet li in the role. But for jin, I would have to pick a dark haired westrener. Maybe keanu, but he would never do the role. So I would say someone thats an unknown little name guy who looks the part. The rock was a good call for king. The rest are all not too hard.
