"How much?" Rouge asked, dishing the jewel over. The pawner's eyes widened. "I don't want it! Get out of here!" he exclaimed, shoving the jewel back at her. Rouge looked at the pawner oddly. "Why?" "That's the Lestra Ruby! That jewel is the copy of the Chaos Emerald, except it has a more powerful energy level." Rouge lifted her eyebrows. "And you won't take it why?" she asked oddly. "Because it's cursed!" "Cursed" " Those of evil will take the jewel of red." he recited "Huh?" "It's a prophecy that been around for ages!" "So, evil, huh?" she asked, studying the jewel more closely. The pawner didn't answer. He shoved her out of the store and locked the door. "Sheesh..."Rouge exclaimed, " I think I'll pay that Knuckles guy a visit. He must know about this jewel if her know about the emeralds..."

I have officialy found I reason why I like living in Arkansas: They let you get your permit at fourteen. I'm thirteen, so... :D I'm borrowing a driver's course manual at the moment, and reading up so I can get mine as soon as possible because 1) My mom's a bad driver and 2) My dad is an even worse driver.

John, calm down. I said it was a good poem, but you just admitted it: You write on the same themes, because it is what you know.

You asked me to come check this out? Out of your most recent three, I like the last one the best. You're lines are a bit confusing, and your choice of words isn't very broad, but they're still good, nonetheless.

Hmmm...I think your theme is getting repetitive, but a nice poem indeed.

The city had gone up in flames, and the screams of innocents filled the the night like thick icing. A figure, grabbing an innocent child, dragged the boy into an alley. Minutes later, it returned, angry. Figure... Mara tried to gaze closer...closer.... HUNTER! Mara shot up, screaming. Tears streamed quietly down her face, as she shook her head over and over. "He didn't understand," she said repeatedly to herself, "He didn't understand!" She hugged her knees to her chest and began to rock and mumble incoherantly. The shack she was in was dimly lit, for it was the time mages way. She found her way to the Forest of Time, and was residing with her best friend Wisteria. She threw on her dress, and silently crept to her friends hut. She shook the shoulders of her blonde friend, and Wisteria's violet eyes soon fluttered open. She poured out the story like a gushing river, going too fast or going too slow, slurring her words, and ringing with perfect clarity. She clutched at her kness the whole time though, shaking...shaking... "It'll be okay." Wisteria said. "But they're innocent!" she screamed. Wisteris shook her head. "As a time mage," Wisteria said, using a small glamour spell of the time mage to make her figure more imposing, "You must take and receive what is to come. It is either a village, or a whole land." Mara shook silently. "I-" "No," Wisteria said, readin her thoughts, "You cannot go back. You must stay." Mara nodded silently, tears streaming down her face.

Mara sighed, suddenly very tired. "A magical deversion barrier." she said simply, rainsing her hands towards the...whatever was up there. The door abruptly opened and she rushed in, the door claning shut behind her. She received the same lecture, except she took the green vial. Ah, you have chosen the magical complexity barrier. I do hope that you know your magic as well as your self.

Hmmm...we should consider that...Nah...no fun then...

Juu, that's not John. That's Mike, my older borhah! :D Nice, Juu! Great job! I like the short stanzas, and the choice of words was decent, but the emotion is what saved you from a really bad rating. :toothy: 7.5/10

So, we;ve decided to pick my post apart, eh? So be it...
Originally posted by Mnemolth Not really. :) For one thing, anime is really a subset of animation. For another, what I wanted to convey was not so much that you HAVE to like both, but that you SHOULD respect both.
You're right about anime being a subset, or product, of animation, which I stated below. But although you can give some credit for animation for starting anime, it hardly gets the crown. Anime is a genre unto itself, and basically developed itself, due to being so different to animation itself.
There is skill, artistry and depth in American animation. Sure there are formulaic plots and designs, but these exists in anime as well. Let's not forget all those still shots drifting across the screen, or all those giant-sized robots. ;)
Now why would we do that? :D
Hmm....I can understand that you like the anime 'style', but if you are saying that 'style' of drawing is more realistic than traditional american animation, I would have to disagree.
Back up. When did I say this? I just said that I like the more graceful approach of anime then animation.
A feature of anime are all those big eyes, I mean how many people IRL have such disproportionate eyes? And the hair? They seem to range the entire rainbow spectrum. And when the characters do something stupid/comical, the action and drawing is chaotic and lose all sense of realism. But it works. Why? Because it is highly stylised.
Yes, it is highly stylized, but you put words in my mouth. I never said that I though anime was more realistic, but it's okay. I agree that many of the features of anime isn't realistic, but honestly, do we have small black dots for eyes? Or big ovals? No. Do we have hair like card board? No.
Just as anime is stylised, so is american animation. Yet the example you've chosen is not really common. Superman uses a style similar to the popular Batman series, spawned I might add from the original Dark Knight reconstruction of Batman in the early 90s. It features great hulking jaws and huge chests and long drawn out shadows and personally I thought it worked well with Batman, the 'angular' nature suited the comic hero, but it probably doesn't do as well for Superman.
I agree completely, and I respect the nature of the shows that you provided as exmaples, but that doesn't mean I have to be a fan of them. And yes, Juu. I did type all of that myself. Alrighty, Def_Kun's turn....
Originally posted by Def_Kun K I really don't know if this is true. I just heard this from one of the speakers in one of our anime club gatherings. He said that American superheroes like Batman and Superman are quite handsome over there in Japan. Since most of what they see are anime style drawings, a man with a square jaw and muscular brute is considered a hottie fellow.
I must say that he may be right, but I consider him more opinionated than correct.

Mara stood over Serenol, smiling gently as she stood up. She hasitly grabbed a piece of paper, tears falling onto the parchment as she scribbled hastily. She bit at her quill anxiously, looking for the words she hoped that would make the love of her life and very being understand. She slipped the parchment into his clasped hand, smiled, and brushed her lips slowly against his. She stood erect, and strode out of the temple without a thought. Hunter, You must understand, love, what I am to do. I must got to the Forest of Time, to beseech their powers to aid me in this time of uncertainty of myself. I ask you to not follow me, for I will lose what little resolve I have and crumble in you arms. I need you to undertsand that I am doing this to see if I am of worth to you; so I ask again, do not follow me. I won't be long. With All My Love, Mara

OOC: I said nothing! I only implied. ------------------------------------------ Mara shuddered as familiar feelings fluttered into her body, and she fell at the force. She hit the ground, unconcious, her mind swimming in oblivion. "Why" "Why what?" "Why would let an inexperienced mortal take on the rites chronos order" "I...didn't." "Be it so, Mara." "Father, it's so hard." "I know." "I need you here." "You know very well that will never happen. I am with you mentally dear. I am your dreams. I show you what is to pass. You have seen each of the warrior's fate, for I have shown them to you." "I...don't want to see them anymore." "You would foresware the Sight?" Mara gasped, and shot up faster than a bullet, feeling surrounded by the paved hallway. She was trapped. "I don't know what I wasnt, father." she whispered, tears brushing softly against her lashes.
Originally posted by BabyGirl Perhaps then you can you explain the reason we have yet to have a female president?
Sure. There have been women who ran for presidency in the past. Some have failed, and some haven't. There may have not been a female president in America, but there have been plenty female leaders of other countries. :p
That, ma'am, is obvious ^_~ Just don't let feminism carry you too far...people get really annoyed by it :cross:
And you know what's funny? Interesting indeed. A very thoughtful insight. However, what the impression you are leaving me is simply "I like both anime and animation, and if you were more open-minded, you would too." Now I have nothing against animation other than anime, but I prefer anime to western animation, etc. I like the graceful deftness that can be portrayed in anime, and I hate the way animation tries to portray it. Why, you may ask? Alright, here's two feminine examples. I grew up on Sailor Moon before I moved onto more mature animes. When Sailor Moon is transforming, they have a sequence wgere she twirls, and her long hair twirls with her. I was, and still am, bewitched how it looks so real. Here's the example of why I don't like western portraits of "grace". Take a Disney Classic, "Sleeping Beauty". If you look at Auroa, the main charcter, her body is angualr, her eyes tiny, and her hair like a stiff bored. Are real people's hair like stiff boards? No. Here's two more example of why I prefer anime to western animation. They are based on the masculine side of animation, so just sit back for me, okay? Take Superman. He's very angular and big, a hulking figure who looks like an abnormal freak. Put a regular shirt on him, and he looks freakishly large. Alright, moving to Parn, from Record of Loddess War. He thin, yet athletic. Put a regualr shirt on him, and he'd look to be physically active, and not like the chunk your local mountain was missing. I do appreciate animation, seeing how it started it all, but I prefer anime's more graceful lines, to the western "angular" view that seems to be instilled in all that you see.
Originally posted by Baby Kiwi Women do not want power the same way that men do.
Who says? A lot of women want power, and through the ages, have had power. How do you know what kind of power all women want? You can't really speak for all of us chicks; just yourself and those you know. I think it is quite possible for women to want power the same way men do. Also, talking about how ALL women solve their problems was just a bunch of steroe-typing. Men also talk and try to comprimise too. Anyway, just my opinion; don't shoot me. (If you're thinking I'm a feminist, you're darn right I am. :D)
