Originally posted by Justin I STILL go back and forth between the two. I enjoy silence and solitude but, I find it hard to obtain sometimes. I have many aquaintances and only a few friends. The first being what most people call 'friends' and the second being what most call 'close friends.'
Yep. That's it exactly. I've had six close friends in my life. I'm still in touch with only two of them... "Michelle" "Mike" and "Jenny" I knew at my old grade school. After I switched schools, though, I lost track of them shortly. "Michelle" moved out of state, and we were pen pals for a while, but that died out pretty quick. "Carrie" and I never saw each other after I switched schools. I saw her at once, just two years later, and she had no clue who I was. "Mike" got leukemia in second grade. One of my very few true regrets is that I never managed to keep in touch with him. I would give anything to know how he is now, or if he's even alive... "Christa" I've known ever since I could remember. But she bgan having family problems and pulled away. She came to stay with us the summer I was in sixth grade, after she'd attempted suicide. Even then, she wasn't the same goofy girl I had been best friends with when we were little. She was living in my house, and I didn't even know her. "Mary" and I were each other's only friends for about six years. I don't know if we just pulled together because there was no one else, or what. We go to different high schools now, but still see eachother at Youth Group on Sundays. That's about it. And I now have a totally awesome friend we'll call "Jenny." She's helped me through some awful stuff, and is a fun, wonderful, goofy girl. At school I've got a crew of loose friends and maybe one or two potential "close friends." Takes me a long while to really trust anybody anymore. Sometimes I wish it didn't. I've hurt a lot of people, just because I couldn't bring myself to trust them...

No, I'm afraid I didn't see it. I shall have to see if and when it is airing again in my area...

LoL, are you serious? He's Dr. Seuss, only the best children's author ever. [Don't suppose I'[m biased, do you?] Wrote The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hears a Who!, The Butter Battle Book, The Lorax, Yertle the Turtle... ::continues rattling off titles::
Originally posted by BabyGirl :twitch: Someone please strip these people of their Star Wars Fanatic titles...! Heh, nah, just kidding. Though I still can't understand how you'd dislike TESB...it's the motional core and turning point for the entire Star Wars universe. I can't begin to express my immense passion for this excellent second installment...
heh. I hardly claim to be a fanatic. I love the first three (second three?) movies, but I just never really got into any of the books...not for lack of trying, but they just never "clicked" for me. Empire Strikes Back is my favorite movie, however. The emotions run very deep, it always intrigued me...

What do you find so mindboggling about the opposite sex?
Originally posted by \?~NoodleZ~?/ We aren't saying that every girl is like that because every girl isn't like that Cera. Like you. I mean some girls are, they think that you have to pay for everything and some people will say that is being a gentlemen but why waste your money when there is a very high chance that they will just dump you after the date?
Heh. I'm not saying that I feel you've generalized all girls....I'm just commenting that if those are the awful impressions you get, you must know some real jerks. ;) Leastaways in my opinion. Heh, anyway. -
Money's important. In our society, you can't get along without it. Food, clothes, rent, taxes, whatever. But hey--some of the best things are free, or cost very little. Check out the 'favorite things' thread. ]

Please, don't do anything drastic. You're having a hell of a time right now, but I have every confidence that you'll pull through. Don't worry about God damning you. When I see people worrying about things like this--it sometimes makes me think James has got the right of things. Religion is crazy. But that's definitely NOT the important thing here. Hey--what the little kids learn in Sunday School holds true. God loves ya. Unconditionally. No matter what. If that's not something you want to hear about right now, that's okay. Even if you don't realize it, you do have people who care about you. You can pull through this. Life's rough--you're having a worse time than a lot of people--but please don't give up. If you want to talk, you can reach me on AIM or Yahoo at cynic042.

heh... So I never talk on the phone.... I'm not selfish.... I don't feel that I am irrational..... I don't get into enemy/friend relationships with other people... Gee. You guys must know some pretty rotten girls, if those are the impressions you get. -
Sooner or later, I'm going to have to write a science fiction/fantasy story or school. (Hasn't been assigned yet, but it's coming up...) Unfortunately, most of the items in my "To Write" box have a firm basis in reality. Anyone have any sci-fi ideas to get me started? Your help would be much appreciated.

It's a cute story, Blanko, and I like it--but could you change it to size one, or do something to make it a bit shorter? It's a bit long

SSJ5 Vegeta, I just want to say that your post made me really happy. What a great thing, to read about other people's little joys in life! I especially liked the bit about the skittles. I love:

waking up in the middle of the night and listening to a thunderstorm ouside. Sometimes I'll drag my great big blanket over to the window and watch the lightning...
Curling up in my giant warm sleeping bag and slowly falling asleep
Running for the sake of running! Sometimes I'll just take off and run down to the lakefront and spend time alone with the lake....
Waking up early on summer mornings and going outside barefoot
Finding spiderwebs full of dew in the grass
Coming home from the library with a backpack full of books to read
Just listening to people talk, and having them make me laugh
Finding the perfect bargain at a rummage sale
Going outside during/just after a snow storm, when everything's silent and white and the air is so full of quiet and sleepiness!
playing a difficult piece of music perfectly for the first time
::grins:: There's really so much stuff that I love!
Originally posted by Shyguy Back during World War 2 Geisel worked on some propaganda cartoons for the government. They were about how normal Americans could find out if their fellow neighbors were German spies. I wasa lucky enough to see one of them during an animation festival I went to a few months ago... it was very weird to see Dr. Seuss making war cartoons, but it was before he even started writing children's books.
Mulberry street was published before that, I believe...wasn't it? [I should know this stuff, I'm doing a paper on him...] Yeah, there's a collection of his political cartoons called Seuss Goes to War. Muchly cool.
