I want to see a connection between Buffy and Angel (the shows, not the characters) about this whole end-of-the-world jazz. On one show, Lorne and Cordy are predicting the end of the world. On the other show, Willow is afraid of the Earth itself and every demon keeps saying "from beneath it devoures." If these two are connected, that'd be kool. If they aren't, then you gotta wonder which show will face the end of the world first. And Sere, I agree that Fred and Gunn are a little too sex-crazed. The worst part is that it came out of nowhere. The two of them never even shook hands, suddenly they're climbing in bed at least twice every episode.
Originally posted by shadowdramon Am I the only person here that can tolerate the dub? I hate Serena's voice, but the dub is unfortunately the only version I have seen and I didn't even notice any of the cuts. In fact, I didn't know they were that bad until I read about them in Wizard's Anime Invasion.
That's the thing about Sailormoon. Aside from leaving out like 3 full episodes, nobody notices cuts made to the dub unless they look back and forth between versions. The only changes they really make are to the dialogue (which I don't really like) and the character names (which I don't mind).
Originally posted by AnimeGurl Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus are cousins, but ur right, looks like if they are. Always together.
Big Dub Edit In the manga and original Japanese version of the anime, Neptune and Uranus aren't related. They never come right out and say they're homosexual, either. That's just something that you conclude on your own. The dubbed English version decided to change the dialogue so that they kept calling each other cousins... But you probably already knew that and I misunderstood what you were saying. I'm just not sure.

I stopped reading comics when I was around 11 years old, and even then I never really read DC comics. Justice League inspired me to go online and read about different DC superheroes (the different Green Lanterns confused me for a while). I really like the JL cartoon and I can't wait to see how far it goes. It's the Warner Bros best animated series (although I wish they would dip into the lives of each of their secret identities now and then).

I want to know what Wesley was thinking. "Hmm... I'm getting all of these visions in my dreams about Angel killing his son. At least that's what I interpret them as. Maybe I should kidnap Connor and not tell Angel and expect there not to be any consequences."

Now I'm having giddy childhood flashbacks of Ducktales and Chin n' Dale :D I loved those shows. No other animated series by Disney was even close to their greatness (take that, Tale Spin). I can still hear the Ducktales theme song in my head. :) People constantly say that Disney's animated films are "anime-inspired" or soem jazz like that. Disney has always been good at background art. Look at Alice in Wonderland (which was re-released in theatres in the 70s and advertised to stoners because the colors were trippier than a Jimmi Hendrix song) and Snow White. Disney was a pioneer in complex backgrounds. Plus they get a lot of their stuff animated in Japan.
Originally posted by Mystic's Knight Endymion, actually that was very rude and a waste of post.
I said I wasn't trying to be rude, dagnabbit!! :flaming: How does someone say they're not trying to be rude and somebody interprets what they said as being very rude? Why didn't I just say "Hey moron!"? Oh, I know! Maybe It's because I wasn't trying to be rude! I'm sorry if you think I'm an inconsiderate a-hole after I specifically said I didn't want to be rude, but I tell people I don't want to come off as rude for a very good reason! Anyway... Anyway, Valen (the person I was addressing) I'm sorry if my post came off as rude. I didn't mean to offend you. I just thought I'd let you know that a few other people talked about that earlier, just in case you missed it. Sorry. :) -
Maybe it's a spiritual thing. Like all of their souls are supposed to be drawn to one another, with Tenchi being the glue that holds them. And Kiyone never really showed that much affection toward Tenchi. Besides, how many young guys do they even know? Ryoko might have killed a few and Kiyone & Mihoshi probably works with some. Ayeka and Sasami probably don't get out much, and Washu is probably just a pedphile(sp?) :p

I've never seen Sailor Stars. No American company is even willing to subtitle it and I don't believe in buying fansubs. Anyway, I think S was the best season. It had that whole "end of the world" thing going on with Sailor Saturn and Mistress 9. And I won't even bother with the dub voices, except to say that Serena's first voice for the first 5 or so episodes was the best one.

Yeah, they're ruining a lot of their movies by making sequals. It's really annoying. I refuse to watch any of them unless my little sister wants to. I like the Aladdin movies and Lion King, and the animated 101 Dalmations is one of my favorites. I used to be a Disney-head when I was younger. I kinda got bored with Disney, but then I got back into it again. One of my favorite shows is Disney's "House of Mouse." Gotta love the new "Goofy" cartoons they show. I can't stand any of the original movies on the Disney Channel. They recycle actors constantly (like that guy from "Smart House" & "Luck of the Irish" and that girl from "Halloween Town" & "Quints.") Disney Channel's original TV series are kool, though. I like "Kim Possible" (yep, Ron's the best character) "Even Stevens" and "Proud Family."
Originally posted by Valen And contrary to popular belief, they don't worship the devil like all these "goth" people think (no offense if you are goth)... they don't even believe in Satan... But that's beside the point... No, I just think the dialogue can be stupid at times. I've never even seen Ultraman in Japanese and I can't read lips in Japanese. In one episode, I specifically heard someone mock how one of the characters looks. If they originally made fun of their looks in the Japanese version, that's fine. If the dialogue was added in on FOX's version just for the fun of it, that's wrong. I'm not a purist. I can't stand those people at times. It's always petty stuff like "they mixed up the L and the R in someone's name" or "they pronounced Sakura wrong" or "I don't expect the original Japanese voice actor to learn English, but they ought to find someone who sounds exactly like them for that character who only appears in 3 episodes."

The logo reminds me more of a 1960's sitcom than a Hanna Barbara cartoon. Like something you'd see on Nick-at-Nite or TV Land. If it's an extra "pay" channel, then there should be nothing to worry about for anyone (unless you hate all dubs in general) and we don't even know for sure whether they'll show subtitles or not.

India.Arie is a good singer and she's very down to Earth for a famous R&B singer, but maybe she's a little too down to Earth. Like almost all good singers, she talks about how her fame doesn't matter and she would give it all up in a second just to be happy, but then she gets to the point where she turns into Snow White (only, you know, black and without the dwarves). She's almost like Gaia from the cartoon Captain Planet. In her latest video... -She looks in the mirror and her soul glows through her body -She walks out her door and a hummingbird gives her a flower, which she puts in her hair -Her guitar is designed with flowers and butterflies and lady bugs. -She plays the guitar in a field of dandilions -She gets interviewed on a talk show, where she stops the conversation to stare at a lady bug on her finger I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, but it's almost disturbing. I mean, the hummingbird was taking it a little too far.

I've thought about it, and I've noticed some bands and groups and such that change their sound a little bit from album to album, but how do we always know they did it for money? What if an artist changes their sound just because they want to do something different? (There are some people who call this "growth") Let's say my dad finally gave me those guitar lessons I asked for a year ago and I become a really good accoustic guitarist. My first album sounds something like The Monkees, but then my second album sounds more like Nelly Furtado (yes, she plays the guitar) because I'm into both types of music. What does that mean to my fans? I'm not saying all bands do this, I'm just theorising that a few of them might.
Originally posted by Justin Well, I won't lose much sleep over someone burning it; but I think that if they hate America so much, why don't they just leave.
That's one thing I never understood about flag burning. The US isn't totalitarian (or whatever the word is). If you don't like the country, go. Nobody's holding you back. And I guess I agree that if you cut out the stars, it's not the US flag anymore. But then you'd have to cut up the US flag to do that, which introduces you to the second edge of the sword. And Gokents... what's wrong with Hippies? Sure, all a lot of them did was smoke herb and have polygamous rabbit-like sex all day, but some of them had a purpose. A few were pacifists with a cause; it was just overshadowed by their tendancy to ignore most forms of authority. A case of good intentions with bad follow-through.

I didn't watch Angel at first (a show with Wesley, Cordy, and Angel in it? Like I'd ever watch that!) but then I guess i got into it soon after Fred joined the cast. I liked how they made their personalities likeable on this show. Angel wasn't just Buffy's extremely quiet vampire boyfriend (plus they got rid of those purple lips of his. No other vampire had purple lips except for him). He had a sense of humor, which wasn't there before. They gave Cordy a sense of priority and an important role, while still keeping her "I like shopping" side present. They gave Wesley a back-bone and he suddenly knew how to fight. He had to be the most annoying character when he was on "Buffy" for half a season. "Angel" made him less annoying. Now he's annoying again... I like Lorn (is that his name?). He's a demon who doesn't care he's a demon. The guy just wants to perform, but they keep dragging him into battles for no reason... Fred and Gunn are good characters (although a little easy to figure out). I'll admit that their romance caught me totally off-guard. But it brought out a less-shy side of Fred, which was good. What's her full name, anyway? Winfred, right?

"Pump up the power!" "Let's kick some giga butt!" "Surf's Up!" Now that I think about it, Super Human Samurai was one damn cheesy show. I still liked it, though. :) Anyway, I am a little curious as to what the dialogue is really like on Ultraman. I actually think it's the most off-dubbed show on FOX. I'm actually surprised they were allowed to alter the dialogue like that. I mean, giving stupid dialogue to anime characters is one thing, but to mock a real-life actor...? That's a bit much.

I got tired of Cow & Chicken and I never liked the Eds. Courage is a good show. It's not so much scary as it is wEiRd. It's sorta like "Tales from the Crypt" without being as funny. And I'd say Courage was purple, but more on the blue side than pink.

If we want to debate over hair color, why not talk about how Bulma's hair changes frequently between purple, blue, aqua, and green? And let's not forget how Vegeta's hair went from brown to black. So yeah. It's a really light purple.

How I wish I lived in the UK... Considering all of the mature anime they put out, I'm sure they'd dedicate an hour to their kid-friendly anime instead. And I'm not putting my hopes up for an anime network. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

#1 What I don't understand is why some Christians don't agree with other religions. Buddhism, for example, has certain sects that believe in Jesus. (I think) Some Buddhists believe that Jesus was a buddha (a, not "the"). He was at peace with himself and his surroundings, he was very enlightened. Someone said that Wicca promotes God. So what's the big deal here? If a Wiccan believes in God, promotes God, and doesn't try to harm anyone, then why is Wicca so wrong? So what some of you are saying is that even if you believe in the same God and lead a good life, it's completely invalid if you're doing it a different way. By this logic, a Catholic, a Baptist, and a Lutheran can be good friends all of their lives, but only one is getting into heaven because he was the only "full" Christian. It doesn't make sense. I don't accept that. That's just not one of my beliefs. #2 I have nothing against Wiccans. Frankly, I used to be a little scared of them, but now I realize it's the Warlocks I don't like (although I'd never want to get on their bad sides). I knew there were good Wiccans out there, but this thread cleared a few things up for me. (A religion without Satan? I'd probably join in if I wasn't already saved and scared of using real magic/magick. I'll stick with my "pick a card" trick all the same) #3 Yeah, go ahead and build a time machine. It probably won't work, but if it does, remember these words... "If you ever find yourself hurled back in time, don't touch anything! The slightest change can alter the future in ways you can't even imagine." also... "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads." -My favorite quote from "Back to the Future." :)
