1. I have to agree with Lalaith Ril, Peace is a pointless goal to achieve. There is no way we can attain peace without spilling too much blood. I'm also reminded of Emperor Dornkirk from Escaflowne, he worked for a "perfect world" his perfect world in the end turned out to be the senseless fighting between allies simply because they wished it upon themselves, even friends turned on each other and killed. YOu see, some people wish for peace, but for every one person that wishes for peace there are 5 more that want fighting, who live for it, who enjoy it. So total pacifism is not attainible on this plain of reality. If it were we would not have things like Columbine, 9/11/01, or the mass killings that go on in Israel and Palastine. I also must say that total peace would be ruined by some other threat. So total peace is a dream, its utterly hopeless to maintain, eventually that peace would be shattered and ruined and we would have to face the harsh realities of life.
2. I stood with the other three pilots staring at this large white ship which was named the "Epsilon". For a Pegasus 2 Class ship it was very large but yet sleek, I guess it was big to me seeing as how the gundams were loaded into the hangar in the standing position and there was still a good 50 feet to spare. While we were standing there gawking a man about 5'9" or so walked up to us. "Good day all four of you. I'm Captain Kolvasky, I'll be commanding you." He stuck his hand out and shook hands with all four of us. His accent did catch me off guard, a little on the slovic side but not to bad. He seemed cool enough. After the pleasantries were over we all walked into the ship's corridors and up to the main bridge. Along the way Captain Klovasky told us what we would be doing as our first mission. It would be to go out into space to Space Colony 3 and to patrol to see if any enemy Mobile suits would make a sneak attack. If anything they would try and take over the colony closest to the moon. While we were standing on the bridge I looked out viewing the conveyor belts hauling things in to load us up on supplies and other things. I also noticed spare gundam parts being hauled in too. Maybe, later on we might get upgrades, "Wishful thinking." I thought as I rolled my eyes. After touring the bridge Captain Kolvasky showed us our quarters and then said we were free to roam around the ship but once we took off to report to the bridge. Well I took this opprotunity to head for the mess hall and get some food, I hadn't eaten any breakfast and I was about to die from hunger. As the automatic doors opened with a whoosh I looked around and saw none of the others, I guess they went off somewhere else for the time being. I walked up to the line and grabbed a tray and got some food for my lunch. I then took up a seat and started to dig in. The food was delicious, especially for the chili they were serving. At least I was able to calm my evil hunger. After wolfing down my lunch I headed for my quarters; as I entered I flicked on the lights and just went to my bed and collapsed down into it and just fell asleep. I didn't even hear the captain's announcment. Frank had to come in and wake me up and I hauled my sorry butt up to the bridge where Captain Kolvasky looked at me with a stern eye. I guess I'd pissed him off by falling asleep but I really didn't care. I just wanted to hear what we had to do. That's when he started to brief us on our mission. "Once we reach Colony 3 we'll launch all of you in your gundams. You will then proceed to patrol the entire perimeter of the colony until the Epsilon is finished recieving the last of our supplies. Understood?" He looked at us, almost as if daring us to answer wrongly. "Good. Now, we're currently reaching the last layer of the atmosphere so I sugguest you get into your pilot suits and get down to your gundams now." And with that we went back to our quarters to change; I'd changed in a hurry and bolted down to the gundam hangar. I wanted to run some pre-launch checks, and to just be around the NT-04. I then noticed that the others were down in the hangar too. "Well so much for being early." I thought as I walked out on the catwalk and opened the gundam's cockpit and started running some tests.
3. Name: Sephiroth Age: Unknown Height: Unknown Weapon: Masamune Bio: Ever since being defeated by Cloud Strife and his friends Sephiroth lay dead within the lifestream, well he was supposedly dead but his body was still intact but yet he was not within his body but after laying dormant for what seemed like ages the one winged angel has been resurrected anew but with a different agenda this time. 4. No, my paragraph was not about Mobile Suits in real life. But this is getting of the topic anyways. I'm trying to mention the differences of the UC and Alternate Universe timelines not if it would be practical for gundams to be made in real life.
5. No, my post was in response to you saying that the Milltary usage of the gundams was wrong. Actually I was correct. The gundams were made by the Earth Federal Forces for millitary usage, they were made in direct response to the Zeon threat, then followed the RGM-79 GM. So the gundams played a very important roll in that series. I will admit though that for Gundam wing the gundams were not ment for millitary usage but they were more of an army of their own so that's understandable.
6. Actually in the UC timeline the gundams like I said, were either produced in small numbers or only one kind was made and variations were made after or before it. Take for example the RX-79 Ground Type Gundam. That was somewhat mass produced, there were several squadrons of them stationed out in the Asian area during the One Year War. Also, there were several different RX-78 gundams, but during the colony invasion they were destroyed because they weren't fully assmbeled and were easy prey. But in Gundam Wing, Gundainium is supposedly indestructable and therefore costs a lot more money than that of Titainium. I will agree with you about the colonies revolting etc. is a common theme for ALL of the gundam series, but that is due to the fact that the man who created the original mobile suit gundam would not let other gundam series creators stray to far off from his idea. I know G-Gundam appears to be an exception but, when Neo Japan had taken the Devil Gundam back to the colony and it took over Rain and then took control of the entire colony Ulube declared that Neo Japan was revolting and taking full control of all of the colonies. So basically in the end it was like all of the other gundam series. But there is one major difference between the UC and Alternate Universes besides the gundams. Newtypes, sure Gundam X mentions them but its a very pale impersonation of the UC Newtypes. The UC Newtypes are the next step in human evolution which was theorized by Zeon Zum Deikun who said that space emigration would be the cause of this evolution. While my information on Gundam X is very limited I know that Newtypes were involved in the story line, I believe the main Newtype was a girl named Tifa.
7. I sat between Joe and Noyade as we sat celebrating our victory. Although I must admit, my heart had been pumping like crazy and I thought that it would never stop but it did after I managed to pry myself from the NT-04's cockpit and walked/stumbled to the mess hall. While we had been sitting in the mess hall I noticed that everything seemed really empty, but I decided to not pay attention and just continue chatting away with my friends, that was until Joe fell asleep and landed on my shoulder. I shook her awake and we then decided to turn in for the night. The next day our instructors never showed up, instead General Kamiya showed up and told us to meet him in the briefing room. The four of us, tired, hungry, and not in the worlds best of moods because of not getting some breakfast walked into the briefing room. Kamiya looked at us with some great pride and whatever else giddy emotions he had at that moment, really I could care less I just wanted some food. Well, if I'd eaten I would have probably vomited it when I heard what the dear general had to say. "The brass and I have come to the conclusion that you don't need anymore training and have therefore decided that you will now be fully combat ready." This obviously didn't go over well with Frank seeing as how he jmped up and yelled. "But General! We haven't been fully trained!! How can we be considered fully combat ready???!!! We haven't even..." "That's enough Mr. Bruam. I'm fully aware that your training isn't comeplete, but the I have no say-so over what the higher-ups say. You're going to be assigned to the Epsilon, its a Pegasus 2 class cruiser. Its got the most advanced weaponry, armoring, etc. on it. You'll also be serving under Captian Kolvasky, he's just been assigned to the Epsilon as well, the crew is the best of the best and I believe you will be ready for this. You're uniforms etc have been packed already and are in transport to the Epsilon which is currently in hangar 3 so you'll get to see this ship while in dry dock. Also the gundams are being moved there too. Good luck to all of you." And with that he saluted us all and we saluted back and we then turned and left for Hangar 3 to the Epsilon which would now become our home I guess. I wasn't really ready for this big of a change but heck I can't complain, at least we didn't have to deal with anymore stupid training.
8. Blaz I hate to sound rude or anything but you double posted. Please use the edit button at the bottom of your posts if you forgot to add anything. And there isn't a series called 0087, there are 0080 and 0083.
9. Yup, Jackal Paladin is in there. But with a different name, but I must say this set does look like it could start giving us more varity of decks. Like LOD did with some boosters with Warriors and Dragons. This might help with fire and some other decks. I don't know I'm just rabmling because this set looks impressive to me.
10. Black Luster and Magician of Black Chaos might be released as promo cards seeing as how they are only Ultra or Super rare cards from the premium packs in Japan.
11. Actually, the only real series that is connected to each other is the Universal Century time line. That's The original Mobile Suit Gundam, 0080 War in the Pocket, 0083 Stardust Memory, Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, Formula 91 Gundam which is a movie production, and Victory Gundam. The rest are of Alternate Universes. Really if you want my opinion I'd say get the Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy. Its three boxes that have a holographic wrapping on it. I have the movies on VHS O_o.
12. I hate to say this but this is a favorite thread and this usually ends up with nothing but spam.
13. That was a college marching band that was featured in the movie "Drumline", and yes a lot of instructors can seem to be mean, but that's because they have high expectations from you the band member. If you just joined to goof off and chit chat with your friends then you should find another class. And there are instructors that are laid back and just want you to have fun with the band. I'm in a band that's kind of in between, my band instructor can come off as grouchy and stuff but that's when we have something major like a big concert and we aren't doing as good as we should be doing. But we do march, we've marched in the American Royal Parade and a few others too, but we don't go to competitions.
14. I stood up from the table and stretched my body and looked back at Joe with a sheepish grin. "Well, I'm gonna go on ahead to bed, I'll see you tomorrow morning. Heh." And with an acknowledging grunt, yes a grunt. Well, more like a snort from Joe I turned and headed out the door and back to my quarters. As the doors slid open with a whoosh I noticed only Frank was there and he had his face buried in a book. This was strange, I looked at Frank inquisitively. "Where's Noyade?" He looked up from his book with a look that simply said. "I don't know and right now don't bother me." So I backed out the door and started walking around the halls wondering where the heck he went. I finally decided to take a peek at the simulation room. To my surprise I found the door ajar but no lights on. I could hear faint explosions coming from a pod, I headed over to it and opened the door and there was Noyade panting heavily. He obviously had been in here for quite a while. "What are you doing here so late??" He glared back up at me with determination. "So I can hone my techniques."I snorted in amusement and pulled him out of the pod. "Well hone your techniques later. We have to be ready for tomorrow." With that we headed out and back to our quarters and fell asleep. The next day the three of us awoke to the wonderful sound of an airhorn. I grabbed my pillow and was about to fling it at the instructor but it wasn't the guy, it was another man. "All right, get into your pilot suits. You'll be practicing with some basic Mobile Suits, they're right below the gundams but mass produced so get ready to pilot these things." And with that he turned on his heels and walked out. The three of us changed into our pilot suits and headed out with our helmets in hand. Our destination was the Mobile Suit hangar. The man looked at us and Joe as she came bounding up with her helmet hanging from her fingertips. He then cleared his throat. "Ahem. Well, this is going to be your training for usage on Mobile Suits. Now I'm sure you're all wondering why you all are here so fast. That's because you all did excellently on your simulations yesterday so you've been bumped up to working with real mobile suits. Now get your helmets on and we'll begin practicing out in the desert." With that we slipped on our helmets and climbed up the catwalks that ran parallel with the cockpits. After we had gotten in the doors slid shut and the view screens flickered to life. I saw the catwalks pull away and the Mobile Suits being lifted up, obviously we were on a mass lift that led out into somewhere. After the 3 minute wait we found ourselves standing in a canyon, our new instructor and his MS moved out so they faced us and then came over our viewers. "Okay, your mission is to pick me off. I'll be either trying to get you myself or running from you. You have 3 hours." As soon as he said that the 4 of us shot off in different directions and got ready for the war game to begin. I positioned my MS right on a cliff face in a classic sniper position. I was waiting for the instructor to show up. Suddenly I heard something behind me and I whirled around and saw the instructor's MS standing behind me. I drew my beam saber and charged. But he blocked and pushed me away with his foot. I fell back and pointed my rifle at him and fired. Of course I missed and hit a tree. But as he was about to aim for my head I saw another beam sizzle across the sky and hit him right in his arm that held the rifle. I then fired on his leg and he fell disabled. He came over our view screens. "Very good, that was only an hour into the training. Good job all of you. Now let's head back to base." So we re-grouped and headed back for the lift and were taken back down. We stepped out of the Mobile Suits and the instructor looked at all 4 of us and said. "Tomorrow you start practicing with the gundams. So celebrate and have some fun. You're almost there." And with that he turned and walked off. I looked at the others and grinned. "You guys wanna go into the city and have some fun?" I asked with some eager delight. Thankfully everyone nodded and we all said we'd meet at the hangar in 20 minutes. After getting ready within 20 minutes we were on our way into the city to go see a sci-fi flick and go to one of those 5 star resturants. Hopefully the base wouldn't miss us all that much. ******************************************** While the gundam pilots were heading for the city a ship entered the Earth's atmosphere, unfortunately this ship wasn't a normal ship. It had a secret. Five secrets to be more exact, five fifty-foot tall secrets to be exact. The reason this ship hadn't been stopped is because these secrets were inactive at the moment but once the ship landed outside the base these secrets would come forth and wreak havoc. The outer belly of the ship heated up and then it cooled as it finished entering the atmosphere. Meanwhile on the base's upper level the sensor station picked up nothing unusual, just a regular cargo ship coming in for landing to be checked. The Lt. alerted the inspection team to meet this ship and do their stuff. Inspector Bascht snorted in reply to the command and got in his jeep and drove off to meet the ship all he needed to do was get his team in and out with a routine inspection. But this wasn't routine because as soon as they neared the ship a huge Mobile Suit appeared and fired off its rifle. A pink beam and a bright flash of light was all Inspector Bascht saw from this as his body and the rest of the inspection team were incenerated in a mass explosion. As soon as the watch tower saw this they sounded the alarm and everyone got ready for a long battle. ****************************************************************** Well, the movie ended with us leaving in disgust because people were just being loud and rude. We stopped at the resturant and we recieved some of the crappiest service I'd ever seen, just because we were teens didn't mean that the jerks at the resturant had the right to treat us poorly. So we were heading back and just as we pulled into the base we saw mass explosions from the east section of the base. Then we saw it, it was a mobile suit, five of them to be exact!!! "HOLY CRAP!!!" I yelled in surprise. This was definetly not training because they fired on the watch tower. We needed our gundams and we needed them now!! "We need to get to our gundams." Frank hollored over the explosions. Joe threw the car into high gear and we screamed down into the underground tunnel and came to a screeching halt in the hangar and there stood our 4 gundams. I jumped out of the jeep, not caring if it was stopped or not and scrambled up the catwalk with the other three on my heels. Joe took Phoenix, Noyade took Reaper, Frank took Blade, and I took the NT-04. I literally jumped into the gundam and strapped in and the view screen was brought up and I opened a channel to the others. "Looks like this is gonna be fun guys. heh." "Yeah, sure...." Joe said rather sarcastically. Just then a young woman with black hair appeared, it was the woman that had briefed us about the gundams etc. "Okay, we're under attack so I hope you guys are ready for combat. Just stay on the lift and we'll lift you up to the main level." And with that all 4 of us were lifted up to the base's ground level where we saw the Mobile Suits attacking more buildings. I prepped the lock-on and fired off a shot at the lead suit. It fell easily, just then too my right I saw another fall to Joe's gundam, then a third to Frank's who was slicing like crazy, then the fourth fell easily because of Noyade's stealth. I then saw a fifth one running back to the ship, I charged with my beam saber but missed. The ship had taken off easily. I tried shooting it down but the rifle kept missing and Noyade and Joe's weapon's didn't want to try it yet. After the battle we retunred back to base and were greeted by the general who had a rather large grin on his face.
15. After our 7 hours of training the instructor let us out so we could get some rest and some food. I walked out of the simulator room happily. I'd managed to finally beat most of the simulations except one. It was a mission that dealt with enemy Mobile Suits had infiltrated a base in Europe. I'd managed to hold off most of them but after multiple fights the final Mobile Suit, a commander's one came out of nowhere. It was a Rig Contio and I about freaked out, those suits were supposedly indestructable. Well, it was time to test that claim out. I'd shot forward at the MS with my beam saber's tip dragging along on the ground kicking up dirt and making a nice trench along the way too. Obviously too slow of a move because the Contio brought up its beam saber in a blocking position and the two energy beams connected and I could feel the arm locking up. "All right you wanna go!?" I yelled out loud to no one. As soon as I said this I found my MS flying backwards onto my back into a bunch trees. I knew this wasn't real, but dammit this guy was gonna pay! I stood my MS up glared at the MS as it advanced more on me and this time unholstered my rifle into my left hand and readied the auto lock on. This time he would pay! I charged again and we connected sabers again but this time I pointed the rifle right at the cockpit and fired, except the round missed and I heard another energy beam crackling and I looked up and saw another beam saber piercing my Mobile Suit's upper chest, a good kill hit. The screen fizzled and the words "You Failed" appeared. But back to realality. I'd gone back to my quarters and changed into some regular clothes and headed for the mess hall to meet Joe. As I headed down the corridorr my mind seemed to wonder about the gundams. What would it be like to pilot them? How would we do? I had no idea to these questions. I really didn't care seeing as how I saw Joe sitting by a window with a mug of coffee in front of her, I headed over to a coffee pot and poured myself a steaming cup of the black liquid and walked over to where she was sitting and took a seat across from her.
16. Unfortunately Gundam Zeta will not air on Cartoon Network. It will be released in 2004 on DVD only. So I sugguest you start saving your money for the entire box set. But fear not, since the series will be released on DVD you get to hear unedited dialouge. Well, maybe. I just hope you do buy it seeing as how it was hailed as one of the best UC series when released.
17. Okay I know this will blow your mind but I'm going to post three decks. I'll have them color coded so you don't have to worry about mixing cards up. My Spellcaster deck. 18. Does anyone have any good ideas for a machine/Gradius deck? I've been tinkering around with one but I don't know if its very good at all.
19. Okay here it is the list. I. Forbidden Cards You CANNOT use any of the following cards in the Deck or Side Deck: No restrictions, to be announced. II. I mean I've seen people with 3 in their decks. But now they can only have one! I was disappointed though that Last Turn wasn't restricted but I guess because of the situation you have to be in to activate it.
20. No it isn't Deathbug. Duelist Kingdom is Season 2 in Japan. Season 1 in Japan is based off the magna. Ask anyone with JP references they'll tell you the same thing. Season 1 never aired here because of the violence.
21. The manga is actually the basis for the show. So what we're reading right now is Season 1 which America never gets to see because it was dubbed to violent. So we started off with Season 2 which is Duelist Kingdom. So yes it is good to actually be able to read the magna without a lot of editing.
22. This needs to be in the card advice thread. Please, once again check current threads to see if they are cover a topic you are wondering about.
23. Vulcans are for medium range. The beam rifle is of a sinper design seeing as how its a prototype. Close range means up close and personal like beam sabers etc. The only thing remotely close to close range is the Guncannon's punches and kicks which we hardly see in the series.
24. Okay, this thread is about the differences between the UC or Universal Century timeline and the Alternate Universe timeline. Like Gundam X, G-Gundam, Gundam Wing, Turn A Gundam, and Gundam SEED. Okay to clarify some of the differences. The Universal Century timeline starts us off in the year UC 0079 when the Duchy of Zeon has declared war upon the Earth Federation. So its the opposite of Gundam Wing. Also, in the UC timeline colonies have been dropped onto Earth; right near the begining of the One Year War the Duchy of Zeon took a heavily populated colony and aimed it for the Federation's main base in South America, unfortunately it missed and hit Sydney Australia turning the city into a gulf and killing millions. Also later on in the year UC 0083 a man by the name of Anaval Gato successfully dropped another colony onto Earth. Except he hit the major agricultural area of Earth's food supply therefore inflicting some major damage. Another difference is the term "Newtype". A Newtype is a person with fast reaction time and some have even been able to communicate telepathically or to see the future. This was displayed with young Amuro Ray who evolved later into one. He is the pilot of the RX-78-2 gundam and while at first he and the gundam seem invincible Amuro's Newtype abilities become too great and the Gundam reacts very sluggishly to his reaction time so then the crew of the White Base put on a new thing called "Magnetic Coating." This causes less friction on the joints etc. Therefore allowing the gundam to manuver faster, this is later used on some other gundam models. As known on Gundam Wing, the gundams are the ultimate weapon and the metal they are made from is indestructable. Now, for the UC timeline the gundams are made of an alloy that is somewhat indestructable, but after wear a long battle the gundam needs to be repaired. Also the weaponry is very different. Buster Rifles are the big guns on Gundam Wing and some other series. But in the UC timeline the best weapons vary, some of the best known are Mega Particle Beam Cannons. This was then replaced with the system called Varible Speed Beam Rifle or VSBR. VSBR is very good seeing as how it runs off the Mobile Suit's generator and the pilot can choose the speed for the beam particle's speed. A slow speed results in a wide massive beam that is capable of destroying warships; faster speeds result in a finer mor concentrated beam which can peirce sheilds and armoring. Also some of the colony names; Colony names vary on the UC gundam series from Side to Frontier. Okay I'm going to show you two different Gundams. The first one is from the Universal Century timeline. Note how simple it looks, to millitristic right? No, it was made this way, its a ground type gundam. Well here it is for your own opinion. And here is the one from Gundam Wing. Now in my opinion I do believe it was made to look this way so as to catch your eye or to try and strike fear.. You be the judge.
25. The RX-77 Guncannon is from the Original Mobile Suit Gundam series or the movie trilogy. Its a Mobile Suit that was meant for long range combat as it has zero close range weapons, along with the Guntank those two are very dangerous when they are together. The Guncannon and Guntank are a very formiddible duo seeing as how they are able to pick off Mobile Suits with ease.
