Well, it screwed my game up on the SNES, and i'm pretty sure they fixed it for the PSX. You can try though, just take your memory card out.

hmm, what i don't understand is why they don't make the thing about the WEAPONs more clear, don't you think that Square would atleast know about the confusion?

I think that Square knows about it, but I'm not so sure that they'll do anything about it. I've never known Square to clear up confusion of their stories (well, outside of finding hints in the game, that is). I think they'd rather just let the people who are playing the game figure it out for themselves.

Okay, I'm going to TRY to explain this without me getting confused on this. Please do correct me if I am wrong...

Aeris & Sephiroth Related?
--WARNING: SPOILERS--
Okay... we have:
Hojo and what's-his-name-science-guy(w-h-n-s-g) that married Melfina.
Sephiroth being Hojo's son and all, with Lucrecia as the mother.
Aeris is w-h-n-s-g and Melfina's daughter, right? Well, it was covered in "gotta read between the lines" that Hojo and w-h-n-s-g might have been related, so in that theory...

My theory is that Hojo was actually informed of Aeris's birth because of family ties or whatever. So he took it to his advantage to breed with Melfina AND Lucrecia to make the bloodline more prominent.

-Sephiroth Story
Hojo(I think) claimed that he bred with Vincent's girl Lucrecia and injected her baby with JENOVA's Cells. The baby was born to be none other than Sephiroth.

-Aeris Story
W-h-n-s-g and Melfina had a daughter to be Aeris, the final remaining Cetra.

-How they come together
Hojo busted in and took Melfina and Aeris. Hojo did something with Melfina, but the results were not made known. So in my twisted mind, what if... Just what if Melfina was forced to marry Hojo, but later killed by JENOVA... that would make Aeris Sephiroth's aunt or something of the other.

I dunno, if someone can explain it better than please do so... I got confused again!!!

Okay, allow me to say WTF!

Why would you think that Aeris and Sephiroth was related?

Also, it isnt Melfina. Its Ifalna. And Aeris' father's name is Gast.

And Hojo had "To turn a stone or two" (thats what he said) to find out about Aeris. He didnt find out by some "family tie". Gast and Ifalna ran away from Shinra for a reason.

Then Ifalna and Aeris was taken to be experimented on and they escaped, Ifalna died during the process.

- - - - -

Anyways, I have my own theory that Hojo planned on breeding Aeris and Sephiroth to create an even stronger being. Could someone tell me if that is what Hojo really intended becuase I havent played it in a long time.

If not, Who agrees with me?

Watch your spoilers.

Well, Hojo wanted to start with Aeris and Red Xiii first--remember, that's when you find the both of them in ShinRa HQ. (I just realized that "ShinRa" could be a double god meaning; "shin"=god, "Ra"=sun god.) I even thought there was a hint of Hojo thinking about trying to breed with Aeris himself some day...except for the notion (to me) that he would never lower himself to common emotions and passions. (I'm mostly convinced that Hojo is
Sephiroth's father
, but not fully--just 'cause Hojo said so doesn't mean it's true.)

And even if Hojo's twisted mind never got around to putting Aeris and Sephiroth together, I'm sure JENOVA would have driven Sephiroth to.
No, wait, I take that back, because the soul purpose of JENOVA's race was to kill all of the Cetras. Making a half n half would result in someone powerful, but also someone that wanted to kill themselves, if you see what I mean. You think Seph went crazy...
OK, someone try to 1oo% convince me that Hojo is
Sephiroth's father.
When I get back from work, I am going to present my theory on that.

Ok, I thought I screwed up in my theory somewhere... oh well... But if Sephi... wait... Hojo might just be
the Sephi Clone's Father
in a weird kind of way. And sorry for the errors on the names... I haven't played FF7 in a good two weeks and I never really did remember those names... But yes, I do see what you are saying Ginny. I can't wait to hear your theory on this. ^^;

Spoilers below.

I always thought that either Hojo or Vincent was Sephiroth's father. It would have to be one or the other, wouldn't it? I'm a little fuzzy on this, as I haven't played FF7 in a while, but I thought that Lucrecia left Vincent to marry Hojo, or something to that effect.

Yeah, it does make sense that Hojo would think of putting Aeris and Sephiroth together. But I strongly doubt that he himself would want to be the father of her child.

Is it possible to know with certainty if either Hojo or Vincent is Sephiroth's father?

Ok, as for Hojo being Sephiroth's dad, that is true. He said so, and Vincent's and Lucretia's flash back show it the same way.

As for weapon, I spent like 5 min to make a little page with pics directly from the American version's cg videos. I hope you like them:
http://www.angelfire.com/droid/expertgamer234/ff.html

I'm going to edit this post and add the pictures after this line:

------------------------------------------------------------
Pictures of each flying away, the first 4 are in some sort of beams. (5 weapons, 2 pictures of the last one)

I'd like to raise the "Did Sephiroth kill President Shinra?" topic.

I'd say no. If you hear Palmer's description "Man in a black cape." Just like the rest of the world. Their talking about the Black Capes, the followers of Sephiroth. If you also remember,
Masamune was buried in Cloud's body. You don't know what happens to it. He may have just left it there, he may have dropped it.
I suggest you don't leave up to assumption.

Anyway, that's enough from me.

Okay, maybe Sephiroth didn't need them, but there has to be some purpose to their existance in the game, they wouldn't JUST stick in a load of Black Capes.

Oh, and one Sephiroth Clone made it to the Reunion. That was
Cloud
Hence, the famous line,
You are just a puppet.
I do think that the Black Capes must have had some purpose.

However, keep in mind that a lot of things in Final Fantasy VII seemingly have no purpose (i.e. the Tissues and the 1/35 Soldiers).

Anyway, if Sephiroth didn't kill the President, and none of the Black Capes did either, who did?

Ok, the only suspects are Sephiroth (real, Sephiroth (clone/black cape person gone all the way), or Jenova. Since the sword was there, it could not have been Jenova. Because the real Sephiroth is in the Northern Crater, it is obviously a clone.

By the way, the black cape people are either clones or ex-soldiers from Shinra. Basically the process for each is the same (Cloud himself says that after he and Tifa fell in the lifestream), but that doesn't matter. They should both be considered Sephiroth clones.

Thus, it was a Sephiroth clone. The same clone who got the black materia and killed Aeris. That is not THE Sephiroth, because Cloud said that the one they had been following all this time was not the real Sephiroth, but the real one is just ahead (Northern Crater)

Any other questions?

Hmm.... I thought it was
Jenova
that
killed Aeris,
since you had to fight her right afterwards.

Or it could be just me. But that was definitely the impression I got from playing the game (and thinking about it afterwards).

I humbly apologize if I'm completely wrong-headed.

Yeah I always thought that the Sephiroth you are chasing the whole game is just
Jenova disguised as Sephiroth.
I'd always gotten the impression that the Sephiroth clone that you're chasing is summoning the pieces of Jenova, or something like that, for you to fight while it makes its getaway. Because don't you actually see one of the pieces at the same time as the Seph clone aboard the Shinra boat, out of battle before you fight it?

And about the whole "Who killed President Shinra?" thing, I've always thought it was the same clone that you're chasing the whole first half of the game. From its actions and speech, I'd have to assume it's being controlled by the real Sephiroth/Jenova, though. I don't think the Seph clone you chase is the same thing as the black cape guys you see in Nibelheim and the Whirlwind Maze.

Well, someone who seems to have figured out a bit more than the others. So far every "plot hole" and "theory" seems like fact to me. I've played through this game over 10 times at least, and so I know it in and out.

Like I said before, if you have any questions ask them. I am pretty much an expert at Final Fantasy.

I've got a question for you all. In the near beginning of the game you come across the man with #2 on his arm, presumably the second clone. He has a tiny little house and I remember that Aeris tells you to help heal him. Is there anything that happens with this character? They make it seem kinda important, like you are supposed to do something but can't. Is this just a dead end?
