What about Kiddy Grade? I haven't seen it, but it looks like it leans towards being yuri.
Haven't seen it either (not yet, anyway), but the official art is definitely suggestive...

Uta~Kata, another recent show directed by Keiji Gotoh, has very strong yuri and BL undertones--although the focus is more on the girls.

It might amuse (or horrify, I'm not sure) y'all to know that the director of Gundam Wing is working on a new series right now. It's called Cluster Edge, and while it's not outright BL, it's hysterically campy and silly. Nary a female character in sight. It's so funny how people always make comments like, "Oh, it's from the director of Gundam Wing, what did you expect?" when referring to how Cluster Edge turned out.

It's cool isn't, actually i just got the wild adapter artbook, it has some really good art work in it. I also didn't realize that i had gotten the Saiyuki artbook, it looks quite good but is it a yaoi or just that type of anime that people can make there own conclusion, a bit like get backer.

When i see get backer i could not believe how slahable it was, a people wonder why there so many yaoi doujinshi for it. :animesmil

I don't think that Wild Adapter is a straight up shonen-ai/yaoi manga. It has a definent plot, and the relationship with Kubota and Tokito is never outright stated. Besides, it's pretty obvious that Kubo-Chan has no interest in a relationship of any sort. He just...is.

It's more like Get Backers, for your example. People can draw their own conclusions from it, like people can draw their own conclusions for Saiyuki. I mean, there's never any relationship explicitly stated, but there's loads of shonen-ai fan fiction on it that it becomes a fact.

Oh! And, Duoikari, I envy you. WA and Saiyuki artbooks!!! :animestun I want one now! :animecry:

I agree with you. inuyasha and Shippo is just wrong. They both like girls. plus i can't help but think about Shippo as a child and Inu as a pedophile! Why do these people change characters in their fanfics? If they like the same sex fine-if not, please leave them alone!

Hello?! That's the whole point of fanfictions! You get to fiddle with the pre-existing world of a series/movie/anime/book etc. and make it whatever you want!

There's no restrictions, none. If you want a straight guy to become gay, you can do that in a fanfic. Same goes other way around.

If you want to add yourself (aka "Mary Sue") to the story, you can do that as well.

Nobody is forcing you, kuroinuyoukai, to read any fanfics if you don't like them, but frankly you have no right to dictate what people can write and what they can't.

Different people like different things, that's the most essential thing to learn when dealing with other people. When the preferences are according to the laws, there are no rights or wrongs.

Besides, when I first saw Inuyasha, I was 100% sure he was a girl. ;P

wow, fellow Yaoi fans ^_^ I love yaoi/shounen-ai. Personally I love most/all, I'm not too fussed really (and people, loving Yaoi doesn't mean you're gay or whatever, pfft. Though I'm bi, lol). Some of my favourite pairings are Joey/Yugi, Kaiba/Yugi, Yuki/Shuichi, Fierce Diety/Link, Zoro/Sanji, Marius/Armand... meh, I'm just a Slasher :)

I love yaoi!! in fact....id go so far as to say im obsessed with it :animeswea I have so many favourite yaoi pairings  banxginji shigurexayame sephyxcloud renoxrufus seiferxzell .....the list goes on and on. im really not too fussy with the pairings, i dont like incest much its...creepy, im ok with shota but i dont read it much. I agree that a ridiculousy girlie uke is a bit, well, redundant but it can be kinda cute (yamixyugi) in VERY small doses. As u can plainly see from this post im mad bout yaoi :animesmil
So exactly what makes a genre about hooking up two girls so much worse than a genre about hooking up two guys?
Really. The hypocrisy in that is just flabbergasting. It's bad enough when yuri-loving males whine and moan about BL... :animesigh

I mean, it isn't as though you have to totally love both yuri & BL if you like one of them, but it's only fair to accord the opposite genre (and its fans) at least a minimum level of respect.

On that note, I'm going to go watch My-Otome and revel in the all-new, yuri-rific Chie. Thanks, Sunrise, for transforming my favorite My-HiME character into such a cool and dashing ladykiller. (Plus, she's voiced by Mitsuki Saiga!) :animesmil

My thoughts exactly, perhaps some homophobic people are just scared of their own sexuality  anyhow, it's all fun for me, so long as it isn't a crap story or picture, I like good quality stuff, but yeah, I'm more of a Yaoi fan, lol, and I don't mind a bit of hentai.

Hello to everyone *waves* I myself love yaoi, shounen-ai, and watch some hentai, like Twilight of the Dark Master, and Devil Lady. But i believe that you can not change human nature, if they choose to be gay let them be gay, you can't cry over split milk. I'm a little okay with yuri, i don't read it much (even thou i'm straight) but i believe that a person shouldn't be narrow minded, and read mulitple things even if it's not to their liking.
But, to the point. The only thing that i really didn't care for was how they made Shuichi look more like a chick in the anime. Now i personaly think that the manga was ten times better than the anime (because they cut alot things out...like always).

^ Yeah, considering that you're just dealing with characters of another gender. Heck, edit a few parts in a yaoi fanfic and you can make yourself a nice yuri story.

...Not that...I've done that...or anything. ;)

I have nothing against yuri...it actually can make for some interesting fanfiction. As for actual series, this is where it gets tricky.

I don't have the cashflow to buy DVDs consistantly, so anime series is out (And I wanted to see Noir soo much! :animecry: ). But, if anyone knows of any manga that has yuri in it, I'm not opposed to checking it out. :catgirl:

Hello everyone,
I'm a yaoi fan too, although not
too obsessed. At least I don't think
I am. (By the way I am a girl)
I think my favorite yaoi anime/manga
would have to be Gravitation.
But also Legal Drug, Hand's Off
and Fake aren't that bad either.

I never said that i hated yuri :animeswea but again as other have said it does not appeal to me, i like to see men, men! :catgirl: . But i have read a few hentai's and a few hentai fanfics, mostly about Ed and winry and one about quatre and relena :animedepr , i stopped read the quatre and relena one, it got to... much. But the only real hentai ones that i have read, well looked at cos they were in japanese was a Duo and Heero one and i know what your thinking. Duo is a girl, but there are some circles out there that draw Heero, Quatre and Duo as women, there for making them a hentai. I also read one about trowa and Wufei, this one was by a different circle and wufei was a women, but he was dressed up as a pikaku and she got sick and trowa took her to see an evil doctor sally. :animestun .

As for series i just managed to get boku no sexual harassment no 1 and it's not too bad, at least not as bad as sensenive pornagraphy, that was extremely bad. I don't know if anyone has seen SP but i would not recomemend it, it's just like two ones shot that have been put together.

Oh and for one that want a really good yaoi manga to read i would recomend No money, it is really really fanastic!! :catgirl:

But that's the whole point of Sensitive Pornograph. It's just straight-up BL porn (as the name suggests, amusingly enough). It's sort of amazing that it managed to have anything resembling a plot in the first place. And it was a short OVA, not a series, so I don't really understand why being composed of two one-shots is inherently a bad thing. Not that I especially liked it myself. I do want to see Legend of the Blue Wolves eventually, though. :p

People who enjoy BL/yuri-ish comedy should get a kick out of Doki Doki School Hours (Sensei no Ojikan), which will start coming out in early November. Nothing much really happens in the show, but it's decently amusing and follows the same sort of pattern as Azumanga Daioh. One of the male students has a huge crush on his classmate, and one of the female students has a suspiciously adoring attitude toward Mika-sensei, the female teacher. The latter makes me uncomfortable, due to Mika-sensei's blatantly loli-esque character design, but whatever. Both obsessions are played for laughs.

hmm iv only seen one OVA...well i think it was an OVA at any rate, it was called Level C, it was full of cliches and almost completely plotless but i liked it all the same, it was really cute :catgirl:
Doki Doki? hehe that sounds really adorable lol I might look into that :p Iv never seen yuri on screen before, it may be an interesting experience :) though i find with yuri fanfiction i hafta stop reading after a point.....but then again it was a R rated :animestun so yeah ill check it out :p
This is gonna make me sound so stupid but whats BL? its not a term that i can remember coming acoss :animeswea

BL stands for boys' love. The term encompasses everything from barely-there shounen-ai to hardcore yaoi.

Doki Doki School Hours isn't really representative of standard yuri, mainly because the teacher looks like an elementary-schooler (despite being 27), and there are a lot of jokes about that. I'd point you toward Azumanga Daioh (with Kaorin's thing for Sakaki) for a somewhat better portayal of that kind of one-sided yuri.

Actually, if you're interested in a "gentler," non-explicit form of yuri, you should try Maria-sama ga Miteru (and the second season, Maria-sama ga Miteru ~ Haru). This series is a great example of yuri aimed at females--although in fact, it's so borderline that by turning your head and squinting, you could probably avoid seeing the yuri altogether.

The relationships are treated seriously and with delicacy, and the art is beautiful. I really hated episode 1 when I first watched it, but a member here convinced me to reconsider the show, and it's definitely very enjoyable once you adjust to its pace and slightly more old-fashioned approach.

Bl= boy love and don't worry a lot of people ask what it is, cos a lot of people don't know.

I've heard of level C but i've never watched it. Actually i just watched the Sukisko OVA, which is the 13th episode, where all the characters go to the hot spring
I think Sukisko, Gravatition and FAKE are the top OVA out there, oh and loveless even though i haven't seen it yet, i personally think Sukisko and FAKE are two best out of them all especiallly Sukisko :animesmil

I feel like I'm becoming OB's designated Sukisho hater, haha. But after a certain point I just couldn't enjoy it.

The OVA actually left me outraged. Oh, it's not explicit fanservice of the sort that you would find in Girls Bravo or whatever, but it's not like the term refers solely to nudity. The fact is, the entire OVA is just pointless fanservice. It brings a whole new meaning to the idea of "yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi." And it (plus a lot of other stuff that went on in the actual show, but I digress) made me feel like a total fool for daring to think/hope that Sukisho was supposed to have any kind of emotional significance.

I'm not complaining about the crack!humor found early on in the show--it worked then, just as some of the more dramatic parts worked fairly well later on. But from my perspective, the whimpering final episode (and then the OVA) completely spit in the face of anyone who tried to see Sukisho in the best possible light and take its serious parts... well, seriously. If that's what the show ultimately was going to amount to, they shouldn't have bothered with the melodrama in the first place.

I just found it vaguely insulting. It almost came across as if the writers were snickering to themselves about how little it takes to please BL fans.

I can understand what you mean here. When i watched Level C i really did find it hard to follow the 'plot' sometimes, it got so random and it didnt flow whatsoever. It was almost as if the writers had told the animators to throw in lots of nakedness so they wouldnt hafta think bout connecting scenes to much :( As if naked men (though that is a plus :p ) is good enough for yaoi fans!
Saying that i did like it but i couldnt watch it again without risk of getting highly confused.
