1.
Originally posted by Hells Fire Ok who would actually go to the movies to see a cat woman movie even though Halley Berry is fine. I know for one I wouldn't. Everyboby knows its all about the Caped Crusader and his Boy Wonder. Cat Woman is one of those every once and a while sidekicks like Aquaman or Supergirl.
No way, catwoman is one of the best characters in DC, seriously she rules. Aquaman has his own comic too, although I'd never actually bring myself to read it, he was never my thing. Anyway back to the plot. I'd love to know how they're going to pull this off, it has absolutely no connections to the original DC plot or character whatsoever. That costume is pathetic, they should at least try to make it true to the comics, I mean hey the ones she's wearing in the comics now is pretty cool I'd say. here's the only picture I could find What kind of fan is going to want to see this new shambles? Actually...I know what kind of fan would want to see this...
  2. Well, I'm British but when I was in the U.S on an exchange trip I found the homecoming dance the most boring thing on the planet. I was thinking, I got all dressed up for this?!

    Names
Originally posted by Valen I agree. I mean, look how many people have names strictly from DB/Z/GT and YuGiOh and Digimon. What happened to all the other good names, like characters from X/1999 or DPF? Oh, and Wrist Cutter... I am suprised you're not banned yet. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, but come on...
You can't ban wrist cutter he's a national treasure ^_~. Anyway, I think the fact that so many names have been used is testement to how popular OB is. Like the others have said it also get's new members to be more imaginative with their names. If someone was named Doukeshi03 however that would be strange, since that's me all over the web (I'm stuck in a rut like that).
  4. Well, I'm related to my dad, but only distantly. Let's see, I claim to be related to Lord Byron and incidently 57th cousin, twice removed of Tony Blair. Yeah I know, hard to believe isn't it ^_~. Nah, no famous blood in my family...that I know of.
  5.
Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth What is time in the eyes of the lord, and who are you to test him? Can you create the world ? ;) He may have done it purposefully, decidedly taking a determined amount of time... the ways of a being so omnipotent are incredible. God doesn't need magic, he's...well... all powerful :D! Just because our minds can't , nor ever will understand the method of God doesn't mean we should hold him in contempt. That's just foolish..
Well, yes that I understand. However, is blindly worshipping an all powerful being that you can only feel in your heart any less foolish? Yes, you have the right to pray for me because I am not christian and you think I'm going to hell. I also have the right to pray to this piece of blu tak stuck to the top of my computer. Are those two things any less foolish? I don't hold God in contempt, how can I if I don't believe in him. P.S if any of that sounded belittling or spiteful in any way i appologise.
  6.
Originally posted by GuardianStorm I think the only reason ppl made up Hell was to scare ppl into being Christian. Which, of course, was stupid and an idiodic thing to do in the first place. And I guess i believe that Jesus could have lived, but what does it matter now? I mean, he's dead, and God did say that he wasnt gonna do another flood and mess with man kind again. And if your wondering how a Wiccan knows this stuff, i went to a Christian church for about five years, then another for two. Then I finally found UUCG, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Gwinnett. Its a church for those who arent Christian. Not neccisarily Wiccan, though.
Actually I wasn't wondering how you know about christian things and you're a wiccan, I know about wiccan and christian things and I'm neither. Just because you're one religion doesn't make you ignorant to others. In fact it's a good thing for others to be wise in the way of other religions, it breeds tolerance. Anyway, so what you're saying is you believe that Jesus really existed but he wasn't the son of God, am I right? So do you believe in God as being the one true force, creating the universe etc etc etc?
  7.
Originally posted by Japan_86 First off, God didn't create magic. It also says in the bible that all witchcraft is bad and to refrain from it. You can only have one god. Either you believe only in Jesus or you don't. There are no buts about it. Like with Drix D'Zanth said. You can believe only in one god, not several. Lucifer was an angel of God, until he thought he was better and God banished him. Lucifer became Satan. The reason why voted, "bad," because it is bad. No matter how you put it, it is bad. To be a true Chirstian, you have believe only in Jesus. Not both Jesus and magic. If you participate in witchcraft, or you are a wiccan, you are a true christian. Sorry if I sounded mean and straight forward, but that how it goes. I hope that you guys will see that light someday.
Exactly. Believing in God and saying you're a Wiccan is like saying you're a christian but believe in the Hindu teachings. You could be a wiccan, whereby you cannot believe in jesus otherwise it is a complete contradiction. Or you could practice magic and be a christian but if you believe that then I'm afraid you're going to hell. If you believe that sort of thing of course.
  8. Dependance huh. Well...I'm almost 18 and this time next year I shall be in University, if everything goes well that is. I am stuck between the descision to either stay and go to University in my city (it have a wonderful course corresponding to what I want to do) or go away to a completely different university (which incidently also has a wonderful course). It's all so complicated really. I'm stuck between dependance and independance. of course if I stay here I can always be dependant...just in a different way.
  9.
Originally posted by GuardianStorm WoW. Thats so cool, Kitty and Valen! Samhain is great. We usually have a big ritual with ll our friends, then go trick-or-treating. or vice versa. Thanks for clearing up for me, AzureWolf. I dont think its good or bad, just the way things are. One otehr thing, if magic is so bad, why did God create it? Didnt He create everything? Anywho, for those of you who are Pagan/Wiccan, what is your fave holiday? Mine is Samhain, not just Halloween(or All Hallows Eve, as it was called origonally) because we do bonfires, cider, apples, songs. Its a lot of fun.
Well, Halloween was originally a pagan holiday anyway to celebrate the returning of dead souls for a time to be with their loved ones. Of course some of these spirits did cause a bit of bother but we don't worry about that sort of thing nowadays do we ^_~. On your God thing, technically wasn't witchcraft associated with Satan, and the worshipping thereof. So therefore God didn't create magic he created the angel Lucifer who then became Satan. Of course if you believe in other Gods and goddesses such as the more popular Hecate and Diana/Artemis (originally of Greek origins) then the God/Satan explanation becomes a little more difficult.
  10. I don't think I've ever heard the Mutton Birds version, though as you say it is very difficult to get hold of. I love the original song, primarily due to it's brilliant riffs and solos and the harmonising of the lyrics. Because of it's promotion of suicide people actually did try to get it banned because it was blamed for teenage self-inflicted injuries and suicides.
  11. OOC: Well then, welcom DuoMax ^_^, I'm sure it will be a pleasure rping with you. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Jerith's breathing became more erratic as he stood before his host, the unanswered question hanging between them like an open door. His chest heaved as wide eyes emplored to his host for mercy, stepping back he stumbled slightly and came to rest his back upon one of the wooden bed posts. "Please..." his voice was small and fragile like that of a lost child, "...no...I" His rattled speech was cut off by his host, a single finger raised to his lips in a gesture of silence. Swallowing hard, Jerith held his hand to his head and clenched his teeth in a small outward showing of heartwrenching fear. Why was this happening? He didn't want to die. His life may not be that wonderful at the moment but he didn't want to die. There was no option for him now. He could either die a painful death at the hands of a demon, his young life snuffed out like so many candles. Jerith raised his eyes but not his head to meet the calm gaze of the vampire before him, his hair hanging around his face like a wild man. Or...or he could join the Kindred as his host had said and live to see all of eternity. Sweat trailed down his face and created a light sheen upon his upper torso, small beads curving a path down his chest. Calming his fitful breathing he clenched his teeth and stood forward from the bed post. Raising his arm he placed his hand in that of his hosts, looking up at the pale features with stormy grey eyes. "Make me yours." His voice was strong as he held his gaze, his body trembling slightly as it sought to stop his mind from making a grave error. "Make me...Kindred."
  12. Okay, there have been several remakes of this classic song, most noteably by HIM and Apollo 440. I, however, have to maintain that the original by Blue Oyster Cult will always remain the best. What do you guys think. Which one is the best and do any of the others have merit?
  13.
Originally posted by maladjusted Hey, the whole womanizer thing could just be a cover-up, right? ^_~ Er...sorry. *wanders off* Just let 'em do whatever they want. If someone made the Gravitation guys striaght all of a sudden, I admit I would get a bit edgy, but I wouldn't say anything.
Hmm..I dunno, I think I'd read a fic that portrayed Yuki or Shuichi as straight (a) cause Yuki has shown that he is into women (I think) and primarily because I'd want to see how someone had written it. There are some pairings I admit I won't read because I don't want my perception of the show altered like that but mostly I'll read anything...other than brother/sister, brother/brother incest etc stuff...cause that just gives creepy images that I don't want to think about.
  14. Using Newspapers as an example: Bias is held in the media all the time. Sometimes it's actually deliberate, the views being edited by the owner of editor of the newspaper, or certain reporters with those views being deliberately hired for that specific purpose. However, these views or prejudices can also be unknown to the editor or reporters. This is because they would be of a certain denomination or come from a certain area where their upbringing and social lifestyle effects the way they see things. Therefore it is not always the complete fault of the newspaper for their views, it is simply sociological influence. I?m English so I wouldn?t know much about the Liberal or Conservative view on things but here there are several papers which are quite obviously for or against certain parties. This, I believe is a good thing, for the fact that you are able to choose which paper to read and which to support. I myself don?t read the paper for it?s political content, even though the one I read is Conservative over Labour.
  15. OOC: nope sorry, I was never into victorian novels. --------------------------------------------------- Jerith opened his eyes and rubbed his hand across his face, his vision bleary and hazy from the previous nights drunkeness. His dark hair fell about his shoulders, touseled and disheveled from his sleep. Jerith frowned as a look of confusion graced his features. Sleep or unconciousness? What exactly had happened last night? He blinked and yawned then sat up slowly within the confines of the elaborate and sumptuous bed that he found himself in. Silken drapes hung about the four poster bed, splendidly soft duvets and pillows ensconced him as if in a nest. Looking about the room he found a beautifully crafted fire place dominating the room, small flames dancing in an ardent display. Splendid paintings of divine angels and humble saints adorned the walls complemented by decadent gilted fixtures. Remebering the events of the previous night a look of dread passed across his face. Tossing the covers from him he found himself clad in a pair of thin green silken trousers and little else. his cloths were no where to be found and as he checked the handle on the only door to the room he found that he was, in fact, locked in. Panicking he pulled violently on the door, but to no avail. To his dismay, the windows, covered in heavey curtains were also locked, heavey iron bars crossing the glass. Finally, in an act of defeat he sat himself, dejected, on the side of the bed. Holding his head in his hands, his shoulders shook with barely surpressed sobs as cold fear started to grip his mind.
  16. You know people, there is a difference between Yaoi and Shounen-ai. yaoi does tend to focus on the more physical side of the relationship. DB, it's called FANfiction, if fans want to write cheap smut about the characters they like then they can...unless that fandom happens to be harry potter and then you may find youself on the recieving end of many threatening e-mails by JKR's editor. Anyway, I really can't say much that I haven't said before, however, it is their choice to change characters for their own enjoyment, writing it how they see it or want to see it. It just wouldn't be the same if they used their own characters and many do use normally gay characters. It's something you're going to have to put up with, so stop being so naive and go find some hetro fics to read, there's plenty out there.
  17.
Originally posted by Harry I've heard that it's so hard to get people fired that companies are reluctant to even hire anyone. That true?
Nope. In fact during my time at my current employment there have been five consecutive firings and they are still looking for people to employ and welcome them with open arms. We aren't all as law suit happy over here. Like I said, if you're fired there's a reason, it isn't difficult to fire someone if they're doing something wrong.
  18.
Originally posted by Harry Things work different here in America. We don't have the EU to make it nearly impossible to fire an employee.
Thus making it fairer for the employee so that they can't be fired if their manager is just having a bad day ^_~. If someone is fired it should be for the right reasons, not just for an isolated incident.
  19. *prays this doesn't get out of hand* Well, as mal said I guess it's just that most shounen-ai or yaoi programmes seem to be targeted at a primarily female audience. Because of this it is attractive because it shows, usually, a softer more sentimental side to males which women find attractive. That's my opinion.
  20.
Originally posted by Harry You can say that now, but when a boss fires you for telling an irrate customer to leave you wil change your mind. Think of it this way, you can walk into a store, purposely get into an arguement with the employee, and 9 times out of 10 the employee will be fired.
Wrong, the employee will recieve a warning, to just fire them without first giving them two verbal and one written warnings is against your basic working rights. Most arguments between customers and employees are usually polite and considerate on the side of the employee and irrational and abusive on the side of the customer. Also, the customer isn't always right. For instance, say if they were to take a price tag and put it on a more expensive product and then get into an argument with the cashier over it. The cashier would politely state that they are in fact in the wrong and that the product is not that price. The customer would then ask to see a manager. The manager would refuse said product to the customer because it has abviously been re-tagged. The customer can either leave gracefully or storm out like a drama queen. Trust me, I've seen it happen. I have also had abuse over it but *shrugs* I can smile and take it cause that's what I'm paid to do. In the end they don't get the product, I'm not the one who's nose is out of joint.
  21. Jerith frowned as he took in the scene before him, the naked girl, the dripping blood. It was frightening, horrifying and yet at the same time truly intoxicating. He could feel the strong hand of his host resting on his shoulder, holding him in place. He could not take his eyes from the events that where unfurling. His heart went out to the young woman who stood so enrapt upon the stage, her flesh quivering under the touch of the man so obviously the leader of this troupe. His words echoed about the room, filled with amusment but with subtle hint of warning. Jerith was filled with a deep anxiety, suddenly he didn't want to be here anymore. Glancing warily from exit to exit he squirmed slightly in his seat. His vision danced before him as he tried to shake off the alcohol. Feeling strong fingers on his shoulder once more he looked up into the face of his host, his eyes frightened.
  22.
Originally posted by Harry This post is appalling to me. I will respond to each one of these hideous atrocities. I don't come up to the cashier to have a friendly chat, I come to get my food, pay and leave. Why should I waste my time talking to someone who I will never talk to again? Everyone knows you don't care how my day is going, so why bother pretend? You should be paying more attention rather than talking to some cute boy you saw. All of the slow downs I've seen are 100% because of the cashiers. Maybe you'r the one that should hurry? What am I to lean on then? Did you think of me? I'm the costumer, so I'm always right. Don't make the effort then. Unless you're an awesome actor, I'm sure everyone can see through your insincere politeness. Everything is wrong about this. You hate it when we ignore you and hate it when we pay attention and compliment you? You're hard to please. Why would you want to be in a conversation with two people you don't know and if you're such a fast bagger, only last for a few minutes? It's actually quite easy to scam you Are you perfect? If not I will question all I want. I don't know what that means! Not for me! Yet you want to have a conversation with me... You wont' be operating at all if you don't hurry up. Overall I don't see how you even work as a cashier, I suggest you quit.
It's nice to know you have such toleration for other people. Both of you. I would hate to be served by a cashier like you Magdalena and I would hate to serve a customer like you Harry. Everyone has their own faults so rather than ***** about them and dwell on how awful people are try to remember that it's just as easy for you to be on the other side. Oh and by the way Harry, the customer isn't always right you aren't always blameless you know.
  23.
Originally posted by PoisonTongue How about this. Chill out. Relax. I've done the same thing you're doing now. Sure, it was boring, sure, some of the customers treat you like ****. But you know what? Who cares? It's a job. It's retail. It's SUPPOSED to suck ***. I say, accept the mediocrity or general acidity of your working environment, brighten up, learn to go with the flow. Make a conscious effort to have fun; the customers are obviously trying to be nice (they're looking at your name tag, calling you by name, for Chrissake). The least you can do is provide the same kind of warmth or at least attempt the same kind of warmth. There's a quote I'm looking for here...it goes something like, "Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% what you make of it." Listen to that. You can only change yourself. You can't change how other people act. Sure, life sucks. You know what Denis Leary says? "Life sucks. Get a helmet." You're not happy with yourself. THAT'S why you're miserable, not because of a rude customer. You said it yourself: "I hate people. With a passion." You're making yourself miserable. Those customers aren't making you miserable. You're miserable to begin with. Make a conscious effort to change, then you won't be bothered. I've worked retail/food services for 3 years or so. (I quit after finding a job working for a hospital.) I worked for Staples and Boston Market, undeniably two of the worst-run places for general employee happiness. I got frustrated there, oh hell, I did. But then I came to a realisation: This means jack ****. It's just a paycheck. Nothing to get worked up over. You know what I did after my realisation? I went home and played the following songs, in this order. 1) Let It Be. 2) Live and Let Die. 3) Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. 4) Good Riddance. 5) Bridge Over Troubled Water. 6) Free Bird. At that moment, I learned to control my feelings. Treating yourself like a computer is THE GREATEST thing you can ever accomplish. I've programmed myself into feeling relaxed, calm, easy-going, and care-free. When I'm feeling upset, this is what I do. Put my fingertips to my temples, close my eyes. Concentrate on visualizing my brain, isolating the upsetting material. I identify what it is, understand where it's coming from, log it, then send it to my Wastebasket. I proceed to empty the Wastebasket, delete my brain's cookies and temporary files, then clear my mental RAM. After this, I say to myself, "System restart in 3...2...1." You know what happens then? I open my eyes and am TOTALLY calm and relaxed. I even think about what was bothering me earlier, and it doesn't bother me. Do you realise what I did? I controlled my emotions. I controlled how I was feeling. I understood myself and understood how I work. That's what you need to do. Bitching and moaning doesn't help. You need to undertake a CONSCIOUS effort to relieve yourself of stress and unhappiness. Complaining is fine and all, but it will not help in the long run. Thanks, PoisonTongue
Wow...that is very helpful. I wouldn't have put you as someone who could control their emotions like that, but I guess appearences can be decieving.
  24. urm, wasn't it Thranduil who was Legolas' father Drix
  25. Yeah, I work at a clothing store. I primarily work on the shop floor but now and again I get called onto tills when it gets busy. The most annoything thing is when we're having a half price sale and someone has obviously put an item on a half-price rack. The customer then completely blows up in our face when it doesn't come up as half price. It's amazing, you can always tell when they've done it themselves because those who know it's genuine mistake will just go "oh, okay then I don't want it" whereas someone who has done it deliberately will go off on it and demand to see the manager. Okay I say, go see the manager...it get's them off my hands ^_^. Customers are all b*****s...everysingle one of them. I myself am also one, whenever I go shopping ^_^, it's a rule. We aggrivate you, and you aggrivate us...it's the circle of life.
