1. Heh, we have a Queen, however not much goes on there. She's just a figurehead really. You're talking about wars and govornments and such? Well, if you had a king or queen like say 16th century England I think you'll find that there were a whole lot more wars and invasions. The ruling was based on the personality of the king/queen, depending on what said monarch liked to do. Today with govornment it's democratic (well, it's supposed to be ¬_¬) and is based on what a multitude of people think, thus making it more fair (supposedly ¬_¬)

3.
Originally posted by Juuthena Well, both of their jobs depend on each other, considering celebrities need media in order to be celebrities, and the paparazzi need stories and photos in order to sell their stories and photos. And though it's probably really annoying having people follow you everywhere, and take billions of pictures a day... celebrities need that media, good or bad, for more publicity. But then, alot of the paparazzi really should consider their limits, and respect the stars' private lives too. But either way, as long as the Orli pics and stories don't stop, Juu's happy. ^_^
Yeah, I guess the two kind of need eachother, however there are instances where the media goes too far. This is exactly the reason why the European Privacy Legislation was introduced, following the death of Princess Diana in a Parisian tunnel after being persued by paparatzzi on motorcycles. This shows how the media can go too far in the invasion of people's privacy. Sure some invasion is necessary for the development of such 'stars', however it is not right to have their lifes continuously splashed across pages of magazines and tv screens ever to the degredation of their own lives. There has to be a limit. If the celebrity does not want their lives invaded then it should be respected. Running around in someones garden with a long lense camera trying to catch pictures of them in their living room eating pizza is not acceptable behavior. Many of us would be arrested for even attempting it...what makes people who work from a newpaper any different?
4. Marcus turned sharply in the direction of the cry, starting slightly at the sight of the big cat ensnared with a panicked Kieran lying underneith it. Dashing over he brandished his sword and reached down to grab at the boy's shirt, hauling him to his feet. "Interesting trick." He glanced askance at the boy who was staring wide eyed at the beast tangled in the vines. The cat roared it's defiance, lashing at the vines with unsheathed claws, it's struggles loosening the vines with each movement. Stepping forward Marcus lowered his sword to the cat. Thrusting his blade forward he skewered the cat through the heart, ceasing it's enraged struggles "Sleep well," he murmered softly. Turning back to Kieran he patted him warmly on the shoulder with a gloved hand before passing him to join the others. Kieran blinked at the dead beast and watched the experience points add to Marcus' total. Frowning he stared at the numbers as they disappeared. Turning abruptly he watched Marcus saunter away. "Hey!!" He shouted angrily "You stole my points...again!" Marcus turned to look over his shoulder, a small smirk playing about his lips and winked. -------------------------------------------------- OOC: sorry baka, I said I wouldn't make fun of you...and I did. Sorry ^_~
5. Finally, someone who can write ****ing poetry! No offense to any of the other poets here but you're stuff just isn't my cup of tea, other than that one by Heaven's Cloud, but we'll not get into that ^_^. This is masterful work, remeniscient of poets such as de la mere and walt whitman, seriously, I thought noone wrote poetry like this any more. My friend calls the style 'Olde Tyme' but I love it and I love this. You're going in my green book of poems ^_^ be proud.
6. What wasn?t mine in the first place? ?I?m late! I?m late!? Damn straight I?m late, The world went on without me. I was thinking of the answer when The question ran right by me. I?m lost, I?ve lost All that I?ve lost, Though I never really had it, It ran away with the world one day Before I had time to grab it. My thoughts still shine But no longer mine, They belong to someone else now. Because I flinched my arm got pinched And I?ve awakened from this dream now. Because I denied What others tried I lost the chance prove it. It would be great, but I?m far too late, So all I?ve done is lose it.
7. Well James, I would like to put forward the trilogy of 'His Dark Materials' by Philip Pullman I shall talk to you about the first book, known in it's nation of origin as 'Northern Lights' but the US title is 'The Golden Compass' Now, this novel is a blend of fantasy and some scientific element, it's aimed more towards older teenagers, however it has been acclaimed as a great adult novel also. Easy reading, it's a wonderful tale that's gripping, humorous and totally enthralling. The central character is a young girl called Lyra she and her 'daemon' - (soulmates if you will, beings that can change shape at will until they and their host reach a certain age, whereby the daemon becomes fixed in one shape, supposedly to reflect the human's nature) - become caught up in a tale of vengence, subterfuge and entrapment. It is, as I have said, a wonderful tale, that introduces many characters that will become a part of your life. It continues in the second and third installments named 'The Subtle Knife' and 'The Amber Spyglass', all are masterpieces in themselves, however it took me a while to get into 'The Subtle Knife' (I was young at the time ^_~). I recommend all of Philip Pullman's books to anyone who will listen, and even those who don't.
8.
Originally posted by DeathBug I'm not actually taking it personally, because I'm an unbiased party. I'm just a bit exasperated with the attitude shown. It seems that some posters don't get that Leh has decided that Wicca is the belief system Leh wants to follow. That's not at all what this thread was about. seriously, the word "Christianity" shouldn't have come up because this wasn't meant to be a religious discussion; Leh was simply asking for help with a personal problem. Leh was not looking to be converted to another belief system, but apparently several people know what's better for Leh a lot more than Leh does.
okay, I don't want this to develop into an argument, cause it's Leh's thread and I don't want to hijack it as it were. Noone is trying to convert him, people are just trying to give advice in the best way they know how, and also trying to gauge how his folks'll react. Like James said, "it's just a question of how much you think you need to explain to those around you" If you really think you need to I'd say go for it and get it over with, they're gonna react the same way however you put it so you might as well put it to them as soon as you're ready, cos they'll never be ready.
9.
Originally posted by DeathBug My mom always told me that two things you never discuss in casual conversation are religion and politics, and now I can see why: everyone has different views on them, and theyall believe strongly in these views.
I hear that, religious conversations never end well. However, sometimes things need to be discussed, and it doesn't do to "get your knickers in a twist" over other peoples advice DeathBug, you're taking it like it's personal. Anyway, Leh, buddy, I think that, if you're totally sure on this (as with any religion DB ¬_¬) you should tell your parents. I wonder why people need to know these things, it really isn't important to anyone else but you (I don't mean that in a derogatory way) people believe different things. but if you feel that you really feel you should tell your parents then the best way to go about it is to start a conversation about religion in general, then state "this is what I believe" or something along those lines. They might not like it at first, but acceptance grows, especially in a family (most of the time ^_~) I suppose you'd have to tell them sooner or later, what with all your religious parafenalia entering the house (if it's that strong of course cos I mean some religious people don't do anything other than pray etc without stuff). But I'm sure they'd notice sooner or later. I mean this post with the best and possibly useful intent so I'd appreciate noone picking at my post and complaining kay *smiles sweetly* ^_~
10.
Originally posted by Double_B_Daigo Okay, take this into hand. Say if you fell in love with a really cool good guy who worked to save the earth. What if that good guy just up for no reason turned evil and killed everyone without reason. That would get you extremely POed, wouldn't it? Its the same basis when some nerdy fan girl takes some one like the clearly straight Miroku and makes him up and fall in deep, gay love with InuYasha. It just truly disgusts me when some one has such false respect fore the hard working writers of the sereis chracter design. Hate me if you will, but i hate it.
Well, isn't writing any fanfiction just taking a new look at the show and exploring the possibilities using characters you know well. You coudl write a fanfiction dedicated to the idea that, for some reason, Vash decides to become evil. You can't bash that saying it would never happen because it might, ir in the writers imagination it could and would be an interesting idea to take hold of. The same could be said for relationships. It's just taking an idea and working with it. It's hard to see how people can get so offended by something that is merely words on a computer screen . I for one, if my work were to be published would be greatly honoured if someone where t create any type of fanfiction with it, yaoi or otherwise.

13. Xion from Bloody Roar and Viscious (sp?) from Cowboy Be-bop, then you can add Pegasus (minus the eye) to that, although his hair is a bit longer. From anime I'd say that quatre from gundam wing and Tohma from Gravitation look amazingly the same, although this has been noticed by many before. They even have the same voice actor.
14.
Originally posted by Skyrose Yeah, I went through a whole year of depression. It sucked. I think it's just a phase of everyone's life, where you start wanting more out of life, you think there's supposed to be more to it, and it gets you really frustrated. Looking back, that's what I think it was. And at least my dad agrees with me on that theory. I think you just have to wait it out. Depression is some kind of disease, and just like with any disease, you'll be perfectly fine if you can outlast it. Some people need meds, but others really just need to focus on themselves positively. That was my case, at least.
That's a wonderful defenition Sky. It gives hope to people, hope that you can outlast it if you stick it through. Thankyou. I also like Fall's point. Maybe it will get bored. After a while.
15.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka I used to do Chat RP, about 6 years ago actually. Well, I started six years ago. And yes, I went through Yahoo. But it was really REALLY fun because we had our own little group of friends, a "family" as we referred to ourselves as. And we were all married/dating/related or some other type of connection. We would create our own rooms just for RPing. We mostly met up in Pokemon:1 and then just ignored every person in the room that wasn't part of our group so it just SEEMED as though it was just us. Those were some of the best times of my life and I made SO MANY wonderful friends that I've basically lost touch with. There are a few that I still talk to, but those were definitley the good ol' days in my book.
Yes, I have to admit that those were golden times when I used to spend most of my time in that little community known as Ayenee. I still try to now, but not as much as I used to. I met so many wonderful people and as you said, I rarely stayed in touch with them. Shame really. Just out of curiousity...anyone who rped in yahoo chat rooms remember corvus_the_black_raven?
16. Marcus drew his rapier, the thin blade shining in the damp heat of the jungle. A sharp stilletto was clasped in his other hand, readied in a guard position. Grey eyes darted warily at the shadows racing deep within the foliage of the trees. "Come out, come out wherever you are," he murmured softly, stepping in a slow circle about the rest of his team. Long strands of hair drifted about his features, his ears hearing nothing but the sounds of the jungle and his own footsteps. "Maybe they ran away?" Kieran's small voice nervously broke the silence. "Shh." Marcus raised his blade to silence the young mage. A low growl drifted from the dense undergrowth. A feral grin spread slowly across Marcus' features. "Maybe not." The beast ripped through the grass and vines in a ferocious leap, a blood chilling roar piercing the air. Marcus yelled in defiance and lunged forward, tackling the beast in a deadly embrace, both crashing to the ground in a cloud of dust and blood. His rapier buried itself deep within the big cat's chest, blood spattering his face and clothes. He turned his head away from the beast's gaping maw, scant inches from his own face. The cat writhed in pain, howling it's agony as it's death throes became weaker and weaker. Finally it stilled and slumped across Marcus like a large fur rug. He winced as he tried to shift the weight pinning him to the ground, pain lancing through his shoulder. "Ah, a little help?" Kieran looked down at him, a hurt expression on his face. "That one was mine...I said it was mine." He huffed slightly and turned away, intent on finding another. Marcus clenched his teeth and rolled out from under the animal. A hand waved into his vision, he looked up and found Lalo grinning at him, his hand offered. Marcus grasped the hand and hoisted himself up. "No worries Mac." Lalo clapped him jovialy on the back and hefted his mace back into battle. Marcus rolled his eyes and reached down to rip his blade from the dead carcass of the beast. Saluting it breifly he rushed to return to his companions.
17. The end is near, the die is cast, the battle?s finally won, The dust has settled, the scene is played, the final deed was done. The victor rises from this haze of a ghostly silent field, But who did fight, and who did win and who did finally yield? No witness can behold this sight, no living eyes may see, The barer of this laurel wreath, the crown of victory. For none are left to cheer or cry, there is no celebration, There?s no one here to curse and wail or dance in great elation. No bodies lie here, cold and still; there is no smell of death, There is no sound, there is no sight and nothing walks this earth. But the champion of this brutal war does stand here all alone, Weeping bloody tears of grief in guilt for life that?s gone. It wasn?t meant to go this way, this conflict was unplanned, They loved this life, they loved their home, they loved this glowing land. But all was lost, though one remained no side had truly won, This jewel was gone and would not shine, the shameful act was done. And now as chaos ruled once more, the task was undertaken, To restore the balance once beheld and the world once more awaken. Both shall work now side by side, this wrong they will set right, For the end has come but do not fear for day shall conquer night.
18. Aww, I love the rain, gimme the rain! I love it when it's thundering and there's lightning. I'm a sucker for storms. However, I don't like that really fine rain that soaks you as soon as you step out of the door, it's like really wet mist, spray ya know? I just like the sound of the rain on the roof and on my window. I especially like it when I'm in a car going somewhere and it's raining, even better when it's raining and it's dark.
19. Oh erinzyger, Tortodog isn't on your team, that's a typing error on the sign up sheet...isn't it? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Marcus blinked as his vision cleared from the teleportation spell, the sounds and smells of the jungle zone assaulting his senses. He wrinkled his nose and sniffed the air. Coughing at the acrid odour he looked around his person for the culprit. Looking down he made a face and lifted his boot. A thick brown substance coated the bottom half of his shoe. He placed his foot down and stood away from the mess, turning his eyes skyward with a sigh. "Just what I need." Kieran looked over to him, curious as to the commotion and choked as he saw the disgusted look and the pile of "mud" now indented with Marcus' footprint. Kieran turned away, his hand clasped over his mouth as he shook with barely surpressed laughter. Marcus narrowed his eyes and glared at the boy before glaring in turn at Joshua. "You did that on purpose!" He folded his arms across his chest and huffed, "I hate the jungle, it's all clammy and hot and..." he looked down at his foot again, "...disgusting." Joshua just cast him a withering glance and headed forward, the rest of AlphaDelta' in tow. "Stop being such a drama queen." Marcus made an expressed noise of indignance at Joshua's words before shaking his head and following, muttering choice words incoherently under his breath.
20. Marcus leant against the counter of the Prairie Sector Shop, a bored look etched across his features. A gloved hand rested on the hilt of a rapier, belted at his side as he glanced about the shelves that lined the store. He'd been in the Prairie Sector for three days now and hadn't met an opponent worth more than 100 points, thus resulting in a drastically reduced purse. He sighed and made a small noise of disgust, scratching his fingers against the wooden surface of the counter. "Can I help you?" He looked up at the sound of the voice and smiled to the female shopkeeper standing infront of him, her perky expression amusing him slightly. "Why yes," His voice was smooth and cultured, "I'd appreciate one of those pouches you have there and three healing potions, if at all possible." He gestured in the direction of his desired purchases and watched the asisstant hurry to gather his request. A small flash of green light distracted his attention from the counter as he turned his head to glance out of the window. He smirked as the door opened, revealing Joshua and Lalo as they entered the store. "It's about time you arrived. What's the matter, trouble with the natives?" His smile was playful as he jibed his friends, turning to lean his elbows against the counter, resting his back against the wooden edge. "Where are the others?" Joshua frowned as he looked around for his team. Marcus shrugged and returned his attention to his Kiyos, "Damned if I know."

Shifting across a never ending plane, No destination, No origin, The ever present design, The anger of the gods, It?s alive.
24. Just make sure to tell us when your fighting your debut, wouldn't want to miss that one for the world. Hey, one way of getting your career off the ground is to box in the Olympics. Then if you win you're just one step away from the big time. Of course you don't need that, I just thought it would be an interesting idea ^_^. "Yo, Aidrean!!! I did it!!"
25. Okay, I think it's right to post this here. If any of the mods want to relocate it it's fine with me. Anyway, everyone knows that you can RP on this board, right in the Adventure Arena or respective Battle Arena. Simple enough. This is what I like to call Board RP. Now I was wondering whether anyone has had any experience with Chat RP. What's people's thoughts on the differences, preferences and pro's and con's of each. I personally started the whole RP gig in chat rooms on Yahoo!, and I find the experience quite different from that of RPing in boards. For one thing, you have to wait long periods of time for a reply sometimes, whereas in chat the reply is instantaneous. That's just one of many. Any input?
