Writing Today's Poem [M -- As a Precaution]
Doukeshi replied to Heaven's Cloud's topic in Creative Works
Do it like you really care, Like someone really wants you there, Like the sun still shines on luscious grass, Like the path's not lined with broken glass. Do it like there is no pain, Like you used to dance out in the rain, Like the wind still breaths across your face, Like life still smiles with loving grace. So, do it ?cause you feel it?s right, Because you haven?t lost the fight, Because the sun still shines on you, Because you love the things you do. Do it ?cause you know the tears, Because you know about the fears, Because you feel the strength inside, Because there is no need to hide. So show them that you?re not afraid, The debt you had has been repaid, You?re ready now to find your place, ?Cause life still smiles with loving grace. -
Gabriel looked up from the book he was reading, his glasses sliding halfway down his nose. Rolling his eyes slightly he exhaled a sigh of irritation before marking his place and setting the book down on the table he was sitting at and checked the text message that had just appeared on his phone, even though it was previously switched off. ALERT. REPORT TO OPERATION HQ. Gabriel grumbled and slipped his phone into the pocket of his coat before standing and heading towards the door. Grasping his cane from the stand near the exit he shook his head and left for the HQ, situated under the mall. Muttering under his breath he walked briskly towards his destination, "I've never going to finish that book...never."

No, I'm not a GC fan at all, in fact I find them quite irritating. One of my friends is obsessed with them and he seems to have converted a few of my other friends in the process. I do think Chris Rock put his finger on it...mediocre Green Day it is. However, having said that some of the songs are quite catchy, even though the voicalist's voice irritates me.
Originally posted by IloveBebop I'm just saying that i find those pairings a bit offensive. It's fine if it doesn't offend you. All that I made this thread for was the other people's opinion on this subject. You don't have to lecture me about it.
Oh, but that's where all the fun comes from ^_~
Originally posted by IloveBebop I find the Vash/Wolfwood, Kenshin/Sanosuke, and Hiei/Kurama pairings very offensive. Vash and Wolfwood are both obviously straight, Kenshin and Sanosuke are obviously straight, and Hiei and Kurama are just good friends. Why make jokes about them, it's stupid. The fans who write these may enjoy them, but it's at least a tiny bit offensive to most people who read them. If you saw the "Hiei in Kurama's pants" comic, some people might be offended by that, even though it's not yaoi. They'd find it offensive because it's about a made up fan character, Hiei, and Kurama in some weird sexual thing. It's very funny, but somewhere I'm also not amused. It's weird, so many feelings at the same time about one little comic.
Who says it's a joke? Most fanworks of the yaoi or shounen-ai persuasion are far from jokes. Just because something is found offensive by you is no reason for it to stop happening. I find excesive use of swearing offfensive but many movies have that in, doesn't mean that just because of me these should be banned. Sorry, but these are what some people enjoy reading and enjoy writing/drawing whatever...if you don't like it, don't read it.

If you could erase one human emotion..what would it be and why?
Doukeshi replied to Bishie's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to get rid of boredom, who needs boredom? Noone that's who. Of course Jealousy's no good either, but when you get bored things start to happen, anything can happen really. That's where mindless destruction comes from *nods* -
Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth GOOD JOB. You just displayed the theory of microevolution, while also leaving the debate as to whether the mechanisms of such are random (evolutionary) or driven by god is still up to debate.
No need to be sarcastic.
Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth I resent the fact that i share a different faith from evolution yet I am told like it is FACT and graded upon an modele entirely determinated by one's FAITH.
Maybe the point is that you are graded on the theory of evolution in biology because it links to the scientific practices of an "evolving world". Granted there is no proof to state whether or not this part of God's plan and whether or not God is directing it to a certain wish, however there is no proof to state otherwise. Therefore it is necessary for both to be taught with equal zeal. You are graded on your understanding of the concept of evolution, are you not also graded on you understanding of religious theory and the belief system that stems from that in Religious Studies? If you aren't then that is a shame that should be rectified within you schooling system Just because you choose not to believe in it doesn't mean it shouldn't be taught. Actually because you don't believe in it is the very reason why it should be taught.

Alright here goes... Accident Claims and firms who deal with them. How do you justify getting £5,000 just for falling over at work, seriously, it's getting ridiculous. Do you think that it's right for people to claim large sums of money for work related accidents or road accidents. Or better yet, suing. Don't you just love the lawsuit, it's going to get to the stage that you could sue me for bumping into you on the street. What are your views...all are welcome

Evolution is not a belief system, it's scientific and based on more fact than creationism. You have to be taught evolution in biology simply because it relates to every living organism on this planet. Let me point you to the evolution of moths in industrial London. Now, the original moths were brown and mottled, easily camoflauged against the trees and shrubs in the woodland areas surrounding London. However, once the industrial revolution started the trees were blackened with soot and waist from the chimenys of the ever growing factorys. Because of this the brown moths didn't survive because their comflauge didn't work. because of random mutation certain moths of the colony with darker markings survived, thus spurring on the creation of a new generation of entirely black moths...which, incidently, survived. Evolution in your back garden. Creationists are merely blind to scientific facts that have been discovered. How do you explain dinosaurs huh? However, there has been no proof either that the creation story is a myth, though why you deem this one fact and all the other creation stories myth is a mystery to me. To deny evolution to the public schooling system is merely denying pupils the chance to decide for themselves. Hell I had a science teacher who had to get someone else to come in and teach evolution cause he was firmly christian...he's a reverend now. Thats like saying not to teach astronomy 'cause it's blashphimous to the heavens. Pish.
Originally posted by MillieFan This heavily offends me too. I mean, I'm actually a fan of Legato/Knives and even some Legato/Midvalley yaoi, but like I said, Wolfwood/Vash makes me want to throw up. I mean, those characters are very likely heterosexual (at least in the anime, in that Vash is a flirt to the extent of being perverted and that Wolfwood was obviously involved with Milly to *some* extent) Not all shounen ai or even yaoi is necessarily porn, however the porn writing vastly outweighs the better stuff (i.e. in-character fics exploring serious if controversial/uncomfortable ideas, parody that's actually funny, serious relationships) and the yaoi fanart images are exclusively porn because they leave nothing to the imagination, leave nothing implied.
I still don't see why it's so offensive, however, we'll just leave that one be. Fanfiction, is fans writing what they would like to happen on the show that they know would never happen otherwise. It's developing new ideas and scenarios that the fans want to see with the characters that they know and love. On the topic of not being true to characters, hardly anyone can get characters completely as intended in fanfiction and, just because they are "obviously straight" in the manga/anime doesn't always make it so. I knew a guy that was the straightest guy you could know, he flirted, had girlfriends, watched porn etc and he turned out to be gay. On the fanfiction porn aspect. Porn is found in all fandoms whether or not they are yaoi/shounen-ai. You go out there and look for a Trowa/Catherine, or a Tamahome/Miaka fic your gonna find PWPs and NC-17s without even trying. I could name you many shounen-ai/yoai fics of great substance and story because that is what I look for. I don't go around looking for yaoi porn and then complaining that's all there is. On the fanart porn aspect. Exclusively? Hardly. If you go onto google and type in yaoi, or shounen-ai on the image section you will find more none porn images than actual porn images. Go on elfwood and do the same, there are wonderful yaoi images that have nothing pornographic in them. Like I said it all depends on what you're looking for. Here are some examples http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/fanq/k/i/kimberlyanne2/eva_fanart.jpg.html http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/fanq/m/e/meredithdillman2/duoheero_wc.jpg.html http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/fanq/m/i/mistyc2/02accending.jpg.html http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/fanq/m/i/mirana2/shinkaw.jpg.html I rest my case. This isn't just getting at you Millie ^_~ you just happened to be the most quotable.

Name: Gabriel Crane Codename: Warp Age: 27 Occupation: Writer Identity: He is estranged from his parents, they don't know about his abilities since they were late developing. He hides what he is from everyone around him, frightened of the truth. Legal status: Born in France, Citizen of the USA, no criminal record apart from a small run in with the french police in his late teens for theft Group Affiliation: Mutant Brigade. Operation Group #4: Solidarity. Eyes: and ever-shifting grey, like tumultuous storm clouds Strength Level: Physical strength of an athletic adult male Mutation Type: Object Manipulation (okay this has nothing to do with me kinda copying silent's power, all my mutant characters have this power...mine I say) Known superhuman power: Object manipulation e.g turning gass to solid, solid to liquid. He can change an object such as a ball into liquid...but once he solidifies it it won't be a ball anymore. To change something back to it's original form, or there abouts he would have to change into a plyable substance physically mould it himself. Identifying quote or Special quirk: Quotes poetry randomly in conversation, and of course in battle. Speaks with a slight French accent. Special limitations: as directed above Others: Gabriel only just discovered his powers in his late teens to early 20s, a late starter by most mutant standards. Hiding this new mutation from his family and friends he moved from his native France, where he lived with his english father, a colonel in the British army and his french mother, a writer for the local newspaper to take up residence in cleveland, ohio. In relative seclusion he writes novels and short stories, getting minimal acclaim for his work. He trains himself in many different fighting arts, not completely trusting those around him. Having suffered from a fractured leg early in his youth he continually walks around with a walking stick, although he no longer needs to use it. Hidden within the stick is a thin blade, such as those once used by wealthy men of the 19th century. He came across the notion of these teams from an article one day and, as if on a whim, decided to join. Appearance: Long, dark brown hair almost always tied back, Dark brown leather pants and black leather boots, a white shirt with a white vest undernieth, several leather bracelets on his right wrist and a simple silver watch on the other, silver wrings on the fingers, most notably the large thumb ring with a black onyx center (he made it himself). A silver cross adorns his neck along with a brown leather choker. All this is topped off with a a long black duster. The cane is simple black ebony with a silver butt and a silver hilt in the form of a perched raven.
Originally posted by SadClown Dante's Infurno isn't a biblical text, it's just a story.
Yes I know...I was just putting it forward as an idea...jeez try to help and you get hung.
Originally posted by Harry Dante's Inferno was written more than a thousand years after christ died IIRC so no that's not part of the bible. Also it was obviously taken from Greek mythology.
Obviously, I know it's not part of the bible but it is focused deep within Catholic dogma. Many parts of it are taken from seperate mythologies such as the furies, cerberus etc. I realise this. I was just putting this forward as where sadclown might have heard it from ^_~
-
Originally posted by SadClown I still don't agree. I don't remember the bible ever mentioning Satan having a dog, let alone a three headed one.
It depends, because doesn't it mention Cerberus somewhere in 'Dante's Inferno', yes that's it, Cerberus lives in the 3rd Circle of hell...the one that punishes the gluttonous. Anyway, onto the mythological creature thing. Well...let's see. I've always been keen on mythology, but I delve into the stories more than the actual beings that dwel within. Sure I know about them but I don't particularly love any of them. I probably did when I was younger...having a fascination with anything and everything back then. However if I must choose something, I go with the centaur. Yep, part human part horse (although if you go into books and games etc you can find that they can be part human part dragon too ^_^). Anyway, the star sign of sagittarius, the centaur. Wise, strong...almost always depicted in greek (and subsequently roman) mythologies as being the teacher. Proud beings and excellent hunters/marksmen. Not an amazing favourite, like I said I don't think I have any. But there's some info ^_~ P.S vampires rule too *chuckels*

Oh. My. God. I hate spiders. What do they need all those legs for anyway? I have no idea why I hate spiders, it's an irrational fear. The little ones I can cope with, and by little I mean about two to three millimetres in body width. I live in england so we don't really get all the big spiders like wolf spiders and such (thank god!). I hate it when your sitting around minding your own business and you turn your head to look directly at this spider sitting on your wall, just sitting there, twitching. Your begging it not to move as you get a glass and some paper (can't kill them you see, too much mess). The worst is when they run across the floor like a demented.....spider! Oh ho, dead ones...when you find a dead spider in a draw or something and it's lying on it's back with it's legs all curled in on itself *shudders* nasty nasty nasty. Speaking of which, I better go find that one that was nosing about the porch.

OOC: Okay this is my last post for a week because I'm going on vacation today and I won't be back until next saturday. You can control my character, I just don't wanna come back and find he's missing a limb or an eye or something lol ^_~. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Marcus ran his gloved fingers through his long hair, a small frown creasing his brow. Why would they put them. Joshua might be right, it might be because of the levels, but surely there were those in this game of a higher level than they? Surely. Ah well, at least it gave them something to do now, instead of wandering the many sectors of the game with little purpous other than to slay beasts and battle players. And what if Callipso were found? Would they go home, to a world they hadn't know for nigh on a year? Marcus shook his head and clasped the hilt of his rapier in a comforting gesture. The outside world. What had happened in a year? Who was President? Who was Prime Minister? What of war? Hell he'd missed the release of T3, something he'd been waiting to see for months before he'd got stuck in this place. Exhaling a soft sigh he turned to look at Joshua. "I Guess We're it."

These are good as poems go, but they seem to lack a correct sense of rhythm if you ask me. Need to flow a bit more. They have a good feel to them, just need a little tweaking is all, as will many things ^_^. Good start though.

Right, I know this is archived at Fanfiction.net but I try to get as much input as I can. So I figured if I was to get input from anywhere, it'd be here. ------------------------------------------------------- The moon was held high in the darkness, the night stars obscured by the intruding clouds that passed across the sky in hurried patterns. A soft breeze picked up, tugging at the leaves of trees and thin blades of grass that bowed in submissive compliance. What little light that filtered through the clouds shone meekly in a weak attempt to prove it?s worth, casting hazy shadows across a small path that trailed through the grass. A thin trail of smoke danced and swirled among the moving air as a shadowed figure leant absently against the fence that separated such nature from the progression of civilization. Small, shining embers fell softly from the cigarette held carelessly in the figure?s hand, only to be caught by a small current of air and flung into oblivion. What light there was glowing from the scattered ash disappeared with the wind. A soft sigh escaped the figures lips as golden eyes gazed longingly over the mantle of unblinking lights that shone below. The park behind the figure was lit only by a small amount of streetlamps, casting an orange glow over the darkened scenery. The noise of the far-off city streets seemed distant and surreal to the silent onlooker, becoming a soothing rhythm to his heavy laid thoughts. Closing his eyes briefly he bowed his head and let the cigarette fall from his fingers to hit the cold, hard pavement below the ridge on which he stood. Gripping the rail tightly in his right hand he turned to rest his back on the damp iron bars, leaning his head back to look up sorrowfully at the darkened sky. The sun had set on the figure many hours ago and what had initially been a short walk to clear his head had ended up being a long and contemplative brood, lasting a whole lot longer than he had originally intended. It was his own fault really; he shouldn?t have come past this place, this place of lingering memories and painful regrets. He smiled slightly in bitter wonderment how a small place of such lingering beauty and natural peace could hold such an angry and cynical mood. Even now, years after, it still clenched his heart to be here and yet he still kept coming back. He shook his head and clenched the iron rail in a spasm of frustrated energy, pounding his foot onto the dusty concrete in a fleeting moment of undeterred anger. Nothing seemed real anymore, the colours were dull and the light was dim, as if the whole world had suddenly fallen under a mist of haze and confusion. He did not want to be here, not here where everything held some memory that refused to be buried in the sand and forgotten. It was all fake to his eyes and the lack of reality almost sent him insane. Releasing his grip from the bar he hung his head and entwined his fingers in blonde strands of hair, now damp from the evening dew. He was getting a headache. Golden eyes peered out from between his fingers; his breath coming in harsh ragged gasps as he pressed the heels of his hands into his temples. ?What?what the hell do you want from me?? His voice echoed across the empty park, a lonely bird taking flight at the unexpected noise. ?Just leave me alone, just leave me alone!? His anger was directed at no one and nothing stood in his path to hear the frayed sentiments of a broken man. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and he stared wildly as tears threatened to slip from his eyes. He stumbled forward, away from the edge of the park and the view of the ever-wakeful city below. Hurrying along the path he hugged himself tightly and shook his head frantically as if to clear some haunting image from his mind. He muttered incoherent words from between clenched teeth as tears trailed a relentless path down his stricken face. Scuffing his feet across dirty tarmac he sought his way through the deserted streets towards his apartment, fumbling with the lock as he pressed his head against the cold metal of the door. A stray cat looked at him with fleeting interest, glowing eyes reflecting the dim street-lamps as it swept away into a side alley. Wrenching open the door he turned to look over his shoulder, his eyes red and swollen, to gaze at the rising moon. He curled his lip in bitter contempt and entered his home, slamming the door shut behind him. These violent swings in mood had now become commonplace for the novelist known as Yuki Eiri, ever since the lead singer of the band ?Bad Luck?, a one Shindou Shuichi, had deserted him. Nobody knew the reasons for this astonishing break-up and it had been tabloid news for weeks afterwards, the gossip of high street coffee bars and passing conversation. Everywhere he went the novelist was given sympathetic glances and mocking stares, the public divided over this most celebrity of incidents. That was then, however, almost two years ago, and ?Bad Luck? where now big news wherever they went. Of course Yuki Eiri was still a greatly accomplished romance novelist but he didn?t quite sell anymore, not like he used to. His work had lost all it?s spark it was said and he no longer captured the public?s imagination to such frenzy as it had once beheld. Only his most diehard fans still remained, while ?Bad Luck? toured the globe selling millions as they enraptured the world. Was he missed? Did the same grief that tore at Eiri?s mind touch the pink haired singer in the same crippling way? Did he think of him at all as he conquered the world with his music? Eiri hoped, with the last bit of his sanity that this was true, but he knew in his heart of hearts that it was just another lie and that all he ever had that was good in his life?was gone.

Secret of Mana has to be one of my all time favourite SNES games. My brother and I used to play it together all the time. Unless you're playing with someone else it's no fun to me. One of you is the boy and the other one is the sprite (you can be the girl but the sprite is better) and the team work you can do is awesome. We still haven't completed it though...we stopped playing it ages ago and now our SNES is one to the great game store in the sky *wipes away a tear* I have to agree with Ginny though, it is amazingly annoying when one of you computer controlled characters get's stuck. In my experience it's best just to get them killed and then revive them when something important happens (they don't get stuck if they're a ghost following you around heh)

That's great ^_^, thanks a lot

Right, I don't know whether this should go here, or in the Square forum...but here goes. I was wondering if anyone has the piano sheet music for the FFX theme. If so I was also wondering if they would post it for me. I have no idea whether this is considered spamming, if so I have no qualms about it being closed. Trial and error as they say.

I appologise BabyGirl. but that still doesn't give, what you call, cockroaches the right to do it now does it? I think they're called 'freelance'

I agree with the ratings ideas for the upcoming fanfiction section, although it's not so much the ratings that bother me (PG, PG-13, R NC-17 etc etc) more the lack of summaries that seem to adorn many websites. It isn't all that difficult to put a summary before a fic but many people just don't seem to do it. It makes it easier for people looking for things to read if they don't just have a title to go on. Therefore I suggest that, like archives such as Fanfiction.net, you put up guidlines such as 'Author, Title, Rating, Warnings, Summary etc) so people know what they're looking at. On the topic of the Kenshin and Big O ideas that really doesn't concern me since I don't usually frequent theotaku.com much, in comparison to the boards.
