Yeah but that's Finland. There's major differences that cause Finland to be like that. For example, citizens of the US don't wear the wooden shoes that the Finnish are used to.
That's major...not. The difference is that people want to be scared here. They want to know what's out there, so that they can feel protected. This is precisely why the only news I pay any attention to are Fark.com . If I ever have the news on, it usually gets turned off after a few minutes. I don't care how many people are killed in downtown Louisville. Just tell me about the newest products and let me get on with my life.

I don't plan to get it at all yet. All the games that I have seen were underwhelming at best. From what I've seen, most people choose the psp because it looks good or because Nintendo is kiddy, which are both horrible excuses to buy a system. Sure, it's pretty, but compared to DS and GBA, the quality just isn't there yet. THe way I see it, lot's of people that bought the XBOX for it's power will turn to psp. Within a few months there will be some quality software, but just not enough. Nintendo is going to laugh all the way to the bank.
Okay, I'm seeing now that the way I began this thread was not very well thought out, and I apologize for sounding a bit like a televangelist... that was completely unintentional. Of course I didn't mean that the old ways were better, with women and minorities of any kind being treated unfairly and suffering abuse (which they still do to only a slightly lesser degree-- it's not more open now, by the way, it's more hidden... and there's real danger in portraying it as something of the past, or even as something that is dwindling into non-existence, as it then becomes harder for people to believe that "it's still going on"... and people will stop taking action). What I had in mind when I said "moral decay" was the shift in attitudes toward life and other people... the utter apathy that I see all around me everyday. For example, it used to be that people were shocked and outraged by the violence in their communities-- now, they seem to just shrug and say "That's just the way it is...". It used to be that our prisons were full of men and women-- now they are filled with young boys and girls, as well. It seems that people are growing more and more isolated from one another and the bonds of humanity are breaking-- empathy has become a weakness and selfishness and materialism an ideal. Hard work is no longer embraced... and the quick-fix and convenient have become the standard. I see this apathy in myself a lot of the time-- when I'm walking down the street and I'm passing the crack dealers and the hookers, their presence doesn't seem to affect me any more than does some person with a business suit and a briefcase walking into a bank. It used to be that it was shocking and repellant to be exposed to that type of behavior, but now these things that should be socially unacceptable have become commonplace to the point of mass apathy. The general reaction is a shrug and "This doesn't involve me...so why should I care?" I believe that today, many more people than ever before have become egocentric, materialistic, and lacking in the desire for understanding. They are quicker to turn their backs on their neighbors in need, and would sooner buy a brand new SUV or a Rolex watch than to feed a hungry child. Crack whores, "deadbeat dads", 12 and 13 year old gangsta thugs packing tech 9's, half-naked little girls emmulating Brittany Spears-- these are the things that I'm referring to when I say moral decay. All of these things have become so commonplace that we barely even blink at them anymore. Progress has been made, I agree-- and "minorities" are a bit more accepted and, along with women, have more opportunities these days than ever before. But those freedoms were fought for-- by the people. Now that we have the freedom to be heard, we seem to be too self-involved to raise our voices... and we accept these things that should not be, even if they go against everything that we believe is right.
I'd like to see some statistics here. We've always had drugs, Whores, deadbeat dads, gangs, and sex symbols. How in the world do you know what it was like 50 years ago? I'd say that minorities are a lot more accepted. If you don't agree, I invite you to read(or watch) To Kill A Mockingbird. Please get back to me on that. When did we start to accept things we don't like? I've seen demonstrations about abortion and gay marriage lately in the hundreds of thousands. I think that people are more laid back to violence because that is the way it is. There's no point in getting all hyped up about it anymore, because it won't do you any good. So we should go back to having to fight for everything? Sure, our lives have gotten easier, but is that a bad thing? Is always having food right down the road incase we run out bad?
And to go to heaven you must read atleast a portion of the Quaran.
That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. What happens to babies that die young? Are they coondemed to hell for eternity? Also, wouldn't that mean Muhamed went to hell? He was illiterate, so he could never read the quran.
Speaking of moderation. Do you moderators out there think that my opinions are out of line or anything of the like? If this is the case I would like to be told. I respect your thoughts as well as the responsibility that has been given to you to keep these boards under control. Thank you for considering this.
I'd say your opinion on parenting was way out of line morally. No one here will ever discourage you from having or stating your own opinions, so long as you do so in a non-insulting manner, which I believe you have accomplished. None of the staff will reprimand you for throwing your opinion into a discussion.
School violence, neighborhood problems, acts of violence to or toward eachother and everyone else in or outside the home. I have advise for those who have children. If you love them and they know that you love them and how much you love them, then when they go somewhere(ANYWHERE) you should trust their judgement if a situation comes to rise. If you let them know your concern and show your trust in them every time they leave the house out of your care, then they will reflect on that and think of your concerns as well as what the right actions are to just about any situation. This and many other methods are good for the development of a human child and getting both parties to understand eachother's limits. Knowing these limits can be put to either person's advantage when the need arises (such as an act of violence, etc.). Love is truly the greatest strength anyone can possibly have. Fuel! Drive! Passion! No matter the explanation, LOVE cannot truly be fathomed in its entirety. Thus lies its true power. Note: ...
That would be horrible parenting. Just because you love them doesn't mean that you can just let them go do whatever they want. That excess freedom is what gets insecure people involved in drugs.
Having an open mind doesn't mean I have to pretend that other religions might be right. I don't think they are right, and try as you might, you won't convince me they are. Having an open mind means at least giving other religion's a chance. I will listen. I will hear what you have to say, and consider it. I might try to convince others, but as I said, I'm not holding a gun up to anyone's head.

Meanwhile, the greeks worshipped Zeus, Hera, Athena, Ares, Apollo, Demeter etc, just to name a few. These Gods are made up, they really are, believe me. What gave the greeks the right to simply assume that the Gods appeared out of chaos, and that the "fell in love" with eachother and had more baby Gods?
I rest my case.
But "converge" literally means that they touch. I'd also like to point out, that in the chapter this verse came from, God points out all the natural wonders in the world, stating how they are only possible because of him. There's nothing extraordinary about seas being seperated by land, so why would he bother to mention it? God is stating how seas actually touch each other but they don't mix.
I'm curious: How are they only possible because of him?

The ability to do so. If we can, then we most definately will do anything. You really need to have an open mind. I don't believe in god, but I don't put in every single religious debate "OMG!!! Atheism iz te only 1!!! All must B LIk Meh!!!" as you do with Islam. I let people have their own ideas. Some of my friends are Islamic, and they fast during Ramadan. It's what they want to do, so they do it without a word from me. Like I'll radically change their beliefs in 5 minutes.

Mario Party 2- Me and my cousins played the first at sleepovers all the time. We love it. I rented this one and couldn't believe it. Where were my goals? Where had all the minigames gone? I was so angry with Nintendo(I had no idea that Hudson Soft. made it at the time). Then I bought numbers 3 and 4, which shows how detered I can become (nil).

Oh please. Just because we don't think the same way we did in the fifties doesn't mean we have "moral decay". I would call this nice, healthy change. If the parents of seven year olds want to spend rediculous amounts of money on clothes, than so be it. Our economy needs every penny. If kids want to rebel, why the hell not? It's not going to destroy us all, they just want to be different. Power to 'em. I'd say the "cause" is we as a people becoming more of the "who cares" type. If someone is gay, no skin off my nose. Do we really need to look at acceptance in this much negative light? Isn't that what we strive for?
However, there is archealogical evidence of the flood.
There is archealogical evidence of A flood. Many areas flood, and I wouldn't be suprissed if each place had their own little flood. 2 flood in different places in a span of a few hundred years seems plausible, no?
[b']Meaning... religion.
Belief in god is much simpler than a religion.
-
Theism means "belief in god", as in Monotheism(belif in ONE god) or Polytheism(belief in MANY gods).
Obviously this isn't for me, it's for my huisband. He tried to join OB a few days ago but every time he tries to log in he can't. I was told to go here. Easily Dragon Warrior monsters. I have poured so much time into that game and have never stopped. The breeding system is so ingenious. It's like a more manageable human genome project.
I think the reason some people refuse to belive in God is because they don't want to be told what to do. If that's the only reason, then they are being quite cowardly for denying the truth just to legitimize their lifestyle. There are so many different religions out there, it makes you uneasy, and want to avoid it altogether. Some people use religion as an advantage to make money for themselves, or gain extra respect, or even be worshipped. The pharohs of Egypt weren't gods, and they were worshipped. In addition to that, the Egyptians made up all sorts fo gods and weird stories about them. But that religion was wrong. It was all made up. None of it was real. Why even consider religions that have made-up gods? Just for a second, lets pretend that God never sent down any books, and that the Torah, the Bible and the Quran never existed. Yet some of us will still assume that some sort of Creator exists, even though we don't know the Creator's name.
1.That's not the reason at all. I am a proof driven person, and "It just is" is not a good answer to anything, much less EVERYTHING. Also, the truth is not known, so Islam may or may not be the truth. 2. How do we know that your god isn't made up? We don't, so you have no right to denounce another religion. 3. We assume that when no other thing seems plausible. Yet we have another supported reason which may or may not be true. We don't know.

Oh, cry me a river. I'd say deathbug hit the nail on the head. If you don't like what you can watch on tv, buy some freaking dvds. The Excel saga, Evangelion, and Ranma are dvd only, and are some of the best. Also, you really ought to look deeper. Abenobashi and Avatar, as mentioned, are wonderful. Anime isn't dying, companies are destroying half of them by editing. It's their fault. If you don't want to buy dvds(or rent), then you are out of luck.

I haven't read one word of the book(though I plan to) and I already have proof that Creationism was altered by humans: We, or namely a few "Prophets", created the entire ideal. It formed in the minds of those that sought the "Why are we here" that we look for today and found no answer. I don't mean to be so blunt, but isn't it entirely possible that we are just here? That there is no real reason? Tell me this: If god is so all-powerful, why didn't he just speak to us all and not just 4 people?

I think it would slow me down. Even when reading something slow like Sand Land, I am only on a frame for a few seconds, and loading the frames would kill me. I doubt that they could show more than 2 frames at a time.

A few things: -There are TVs that can show 1000x1000 -The "Graphic might" of XBOX2 means what it can render altogether, not resolution by itself. Also, XBOX2 will be inferior to PS3. I personally dislike final fantasy, but I would love to see it on Revolution. Nintendo is the reason the game even came to America, and a decent chunk of the sales come from this region.

I'd say creation is outdated. Back when it was created, we had no idea where we came from. The technology being limited, the couldn't dig for past objects or date anything. They came to the conclusion that they were created, because they couldn't find out any other possible way. We have come across another way, thousands of years in the future, but most hold on to their beliefs. They want rock solid proof. The truth is, neither side has 100% proof. I believe in evolution bacuse we have some proof. Creationism seems to be geared towards simpler minded people. All it says is "God created everything." How? "He just did." Creationism has the potential to be completely right. It could also be little more than a fairy tale, passed down to give those that can't control their lives some reason for bad things happening. The reasons above are probably why many stick to creationism. "It's God's will" is a lot more appealing than "Life sucks. Get over it." The sad thing is, I know many people that grow up without a backbone because they believe so strongly that religion will give them all the answers. I dread to think how they will survive in the real world.

In reality, everything is a risk. Standing up is a risk, because you can fall down. Getting online is a risk because someone could put a virus on my computer. Eating is a risk, becaus eit may make me sick. I try not to think about most risks. There is a name for poeple that think about every risk they take: Paranoid. I don't want to be like that. I usually don't take big risks. One risk I'm really jumpy about is not going to college. Stand-up and web design are hard fields, but I'm trying to get a nice long head start.
Wow. I'm all happy and excited. I have DSL now!!!! (It's a big step up from AOL dial-up, okay? Let me bask in my glory, revel in my new connection speed. >O ) The thing is, my sister who hooked it all up also yelled at me for not having enough space on my hard drive left. I have about 15 GB total and only five left to store stuff. So she told me to get rid of some of my junk (image files, mostly. The MP3s are staying in there because they don't fit on a floppy. lol) or put it somewhere else. (she's also supposed to get us more memory, so I'll have even more. heh.) I don't have a CD burner, so I guess floppy disk is my storage tool of choice. Just out of curiosity, is there any better way to permanately store some of my image files and other stuff? I have no problem with floppy disks except for the fact that you need a LOT of them. I will use them, but was just wondering if you know of anything else (what that might be, don't ask me. I'm the computer idiot. lol.)
Simple: Get a CD burner. Here's a cheap one. Then you can store 700 megs for about a quarter. You can also spend the cash to get this Hard Drive. It's only $40 after rebate. Other than that, you can always get a web hosting account and use it as storage. I'd recomend Surpass.
