I really like Insomniac, too. I bought Spyro 2 with PS1 and had a ball with it. I got all 3 RaC titles within a month of launch, and really liked the fact that they don't just try to be funny, they ARE funny. You don't see too many truly funny games anymore. Not since ToeJam and Earl.

Nintendo-What can I say? Nintendo has been a marvel. Zelda keeps my mind and fingers in check. Mario Kart let's me race my friends while attacking them at the same time. SSBM Let's me shoot people, and then punch them, kick them, slam them, burn them, and then throw them all in the same minute. Animal Crossing took the sims formula and took out all the boring stuff, like going to the bathroom or eating. Ghostbusters came to life in Luigi's Mansion. Star Fox gave me a near-perfect arcade shooter. Mario 64 took platforming to a whol new demension. Nintendo kept gaming alive. Rare-As screwed up as rare is now, It used to shine. Donkey Kong Country made 2 Megs seem like 2 Gigs. Goldeneye is still the best FPS of all time, and my cousins and I play 4-player deathmatch to this very day. Perfect Dark took the future and made it real. Enix-For creating the only game to ever hold my attention for 1,000 hours. Dragon Warrior Monsters.

Is it possible to put spoiler tags in my title? I tired and they came out in text.
A random mutation is very very rare. And so far there has been no random mutation that is beneficial to a creature.
No, they aren't. Conjoined twins is a mutation. Having 2 different color eyes is a mutation. Hemophillia, Cystic fibrosus, and all other genetic diseases are mutations. 1 man had a brain mutation that allowed him to remember everything encountered. Every word he read or heard and anything else was stored automatically. That is very beneficial. A mutation may affect nothing, but there are large amounts in society.

I got the only hard-a** at my local gamestop when I tried to buy the Excel Saga v1. The Excel saga is very retarded, but as said before, only 1 or 2 episodes are bad, not even on the one I wanted to buy. That reminds me, must buy v1...
There are no transitional forms between different species. Sure, there have been fossils of whale like creatures with legs found. But the transition has to be more gradual than that, one has to find many different fossils showing the gradual transition, not just one. These have yet to be found to this very day.
Exactly. 2 points: 1.We can't just dig up the whole freaking Earth. There will always be fossils we don't find. 2. Most organisms don't become fossils. There is a very delicate fossilization process that has to happen.
I'm not here to convert people, but I see so much evidence in my religion that God exists. He states things in the Quran that people would not have known back then, over 1400 years ago. God states that he created everything in pairs, such as sexual pairs and "that which you may not know of". Anything in particular come to mind? He also states that he "placed firmly embedded mountains on the earth, so it would not move under them". It was also not known back then that mountains kept the ground beneath them from moving.
Most mountains do move. In fact, they all do. All of the plates are shifting. The mountains make them move slower, But they don't keep them from moving at all.

Sciros, SMB3 was up against 2 more powerful systems(Turbo grafx and genesis) and still managed to be a best seller. Why does a character model affect the game so much? Billy hatcher was fun(though I didn't buy it)but the character sucked.
So successful they had to abandon it. Miyamoto is releasing the upcoming Zelda due to demand from fans! He basically said it himself that they wanted the grown up realistic Link back. Sure, Miyamoto delivered in terms of gameplay and level design, as he always does, but Wind Waker was *less* for his character design and ultimately I think he realized that.
Character design is not what was changed. The graphic style is what changed.
It is extreme, but it is not blindly irrational. I can understand it, in fact, because to me character design is paramount. If I don't like who I am playing as, I will dislike the game experience as a result. That is part of the reason I didn't like Metroid Prime (I hate Samus Aran). Seeing as the Wind Waker art style is what drove the character design to a degree, I can see blaming it for the issue.
I don't know what you're getting at. For the vast majority of MP, you don't even see Samus.
I disagree. Appreciating something means liking it to at least some degree and acknowledging that. If you can't bring yourself to like a game because it is painful to look at, then nobody should expect you to show appreciation for it. I can dismiss an entire game based on its visuals. I did that with Animal Crossing. The graphics killed it for me. I do the same with 90% of racing games that don't look as good as, say, PGR2 or Forza Motorsport. Visual appeal is not something that can be taken so lightly for many people. Graphics can sell a game, they can also do the opposite. Wind Waker did some things very *right* visually, but it did some things very *wrong* and hatred from some fans is the price it paid.
Wind waker was a success, you moron. You obviously don't play anything besides up to the date. Graphics don't sell a game anymore. Let's look at a prime example:Super mario bros 3. It wasn't much better looking than 1 or 2. But since it was fun, it went on to be the best selling game of all time. So what if a game doesn't look like PGR2. I played Enduro today. I have no Idea what the hell my car is. But it was fun. And that's all that matters. Did you buy Dead or alive volleyball? The graphics were awesome, Sciros.
Sure, Miyamoto delivered in terms of gameplay and level design...
What's the problem?
By the way, it's true that Wind Waker sold relatively well. But I think it would have sold far far better if it did not look the way it did (particularly Link, who really was the center of attention in the screenshots that annoyed people). Ocarina sold really fricking well, much better than Wind Waker. I think visuals made some of that difference.
1-5 copies max. OOT was the first 3-d zelda, and it was better and more fun than wind waker. That is why it sold well.

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty: Nominations (2004)
Morpheus replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
What is it?: Chabichou Why?: Her views have helped keep the debates going as everyone desperately tries to prove her wrong. What:Lore Why:Because she's freaking Sara...And gives me good laughs. She also Bans upon request...very nifty. What:Art by request Why:You don't have to do your own work. You can yell at others trying to do it for you. What:Chibihorsewoman Why:She keeps us going with the most useless topics imaginable in the Lounge... and then makes us want to talk about them. What:Miryoku Why:For sparking a discussion about homosexuality worth posting in. What:Newbies Why:For making useless threads to report. What:Agenda Riddle Why: Pure gold with a few members on simultaneously. Almost gets to be like IM. -
I believe in Evolution. Religion is the product of man, not vice-versa. It was made to explain the unexplainable(most of which has been explained today). I believe that we evolved from monkeies. As Sciros said, there is evidence to support this. All religion has is a book. A piece of paper that could have been written after you were born. Written by men. The idea that we were all created is preposterus. If god created us, Why would he fill us with so much doubt?

I like it, but the original is a lot better. I liked the carefree atmosphere more. They were just babies that didn't understand anything.

I will personally buy the new gameboy and Revolution. The others will depend. I'll like to see what Microsoft does with the fact that their only real advantage(Online) will be gone in this generation. PS3 will most definately be the only present under the tree if I decide on it, since the Cell will cost a pretty penny and then some. Phantom looks promising, but few details have been released by Infinium Labs. PSP has good things, but problems with the system itself will need to be fixed before I'm sold. What do you think.

Okay, there have been a few threads about members and whatnot, but I would like to know who is your favorite member on OB(please, no one you know in real life). My favorite is definately Lore. Sara seems to post what I would of said before I can say it plus something extra, and seems to poke fun at people whenever she can. I didn't choose her because she is a mod, but it helps that she doesn't explode on people when they break the rules(unlike some of the guys). And when people ask for things(including a recent banning), she does her best to help. That's why Lore is my favorite member.

How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?
Morpheus replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
Increasing the standard of living for an area is the only way to reduce the population level - increased standard of living means more education, more money, meaning they do not have as much inclination or reason to have many children. Excess children are born through ignorance, (lack of education) and through need of free labour. [/color']
China made a law, and it seemed to work. Are you saying that we make it so that when this happens again there won't be as many lives to be lost? That, my friend, is ignorance. For one, that plan won't work, as the need for labor will increase. And why not just hand out condoms? Wouldn't that solve the problem? -
How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?
Morpheus replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
And so, in conclusion, I don't believe the American government is at all interested in foreign affairs - just money, power, and keeping it.
So why did we invade Iraq and Afghanistan, or liberate South Korea, Kuwait, France, Belgium, Lexumburg, China, The Phillipines, etc., or lend 4 BILLION DOLLARS to foreign aid per year? We seem a tad interested.
For those who have read 1984, by another George, you will have probably realised that we are already caught in an "unwinnable war" (if that is a word). "War against terrorism" - it's not only unable to be won, it's a #'ing paradox!
We aren't trying to "win". If you have diabetes, you are not going to get rid of it, but you still fight. It's a hard fight(My friend "shadow" can't eat anything with even a trace of glucose. I seriously don't know her name, either) but you fight.
And perhaps we should have donated money BEFORE the tsunami, to raise the standard of living, so that there wouldn't be as many people there in the first place? It hit one of the most densely populated areas on the planet - perhaps not as many people would have died if that wasn't the case. And that IS something us toffynosed countries can help.
Hmmm...If we increase the standard of living, does that make them want to leave? If we make their lives better, they want to stay, so I don't see what you mean. -
Honestl people, if you actually read[/B'] your holy books, you will see how angry it makes God when people commit homosexual acts.
I don't have a holy book. I've read up on religion and belief that there is a higher being just doesn't do it for me. What are beliefs based on? That some dude born some mysterious way magically knows the word of god. Religion seems to lead to intolerence for the most part. And I'm tolerent of everything that's not stupid. This is not about marriage. All gay people want are BENEFITS. They want to be able to see each other in the hospital and get cheaper insurance. Why is that so wrong? I'd also like to say that I think homosexual intercourse is nasty. Do I think it is morally wrong? No. Why do I support their right to get married? Because I DON'T CARE. I see no problem with them being married, as it has no effect on me. Do I know who's gay and who's not? No. Do I care? No. I don't see where morals come into this. All they want is the same frickin' rights as Heterosexuals, so why is that a problem?
I think the Nintendo DS will fail. Nintendo has fallen of the radar and Sony and M$ have taken over for it. I just dont think that a nintendo product will sell well in America. It has a huge fanbase in Japan too, but not anymore in America. Once Nintendo faded, people moved on and I dont see any reason for them to come back to the DS. I think that if people want a handheld, they will turn to the PSP because Sony is still around and it is a name that people know and are familiar with, especially new gamers that werent here for the Nintendo days.
When did Nintendo fall of the radar? Last I checked, they were still in control of the market, with about a 69% share. Ds has sold 2.3 million units. Anyone that wasn't here for your "Nitendo days" will be too young for psp. Sony is still around, but not Nintendo? 21 million GBAs and about 10 million gamecubes have been sold. Compare that to about 14 million ps2s and 6 million XBOXs.

How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?

Just because we have a lot of money doesn't mean it all should go to charity. Yet again, we are at war. It costs money, too. And right now it is top priority. Seriously, $350 million isn't enough? I, personally, think someone like Bill Gates(46.6 billion), Warren Buffet(42.9), and Alice and Helen Walton(20 each) should step up and help. They already have more money than they can deal with. -
Another thing, not meaning to drag another Israel debate in here, but the U.S gives Israel around 16 million dollars a day.
I'd go a little farther and call that Impossible. The US spends 4 Billion on foreign aid per year. 16 million times 365 is...5.84 Billion. Uhhhh...no.
Then again, you shouldn't brag about how much your country helps others. It's not right to remind people of the favours you do for them. You help other countries because it is the right thing to do, and it is an obligation. Yes, it is an obligation for everyone[/I'] to help those in need, regardless of how far they are from you. If you are capable of helping, then help.
When did we start bragging? I hate how foreigners view foreign aid. It always says, "Spain offered _____, France offered _______, The US ONLY offered _____." It's like our aid doesn't matter unless it's some crazy amount. WE ARE NOT MADE OF MONEY. WE DO NOT HAVE MAGICAL BAGS OF CASH. We are currently in recession, and we need our money. We are fighting a war. We have sent choppers, money, food, blankets, and other things, but it's never enough. We will always look at our problems first. You don't see the victims complaining. When they see food and blankets falling from the sky, all they see is a miracle. Why is it we get criticism from nations with smaller donations than ours? -
Since when does inside which borders you live in effect where a vast majority stands and acts on moral issues as 'big' as what's right and wrong? Whoa, so because it doesn't benefit us, 155,000+ human beings, something I'd expect has more importance than a nationality, it shouldn't be taken into consideration as much as something that happened to people who happen to reside on the same patch of land? I think you need to look at this from another point of view. Imagine if this happened in America. I bet my life that we wouldn't expect the other countries to sit there and let us starve because their own affairs are 'more important' to them. We're talking about people dying because of a natural disaster. Not a war. A war is based on politics, politicians, close-mindedness, military, and unfortunately, civillians. A natural disaster HAPPENS, yet people are dead. This wasn't between the countries hit and a nation, it was between human beings and the force of nature. Human beings need to help human beings. You can't put this on a 'list' with matters that involve a nations benefit. It hit regardless of nationality, and Americans died there too, as well as from other nations. I'll just refer to my edit: Also, I assume that means that the next time America is in desperate need of international help, countries like Sri Lanka should send the amount one good house costs there? .......Riiiiiiiiiiight. That's like saying only the strong and able should survive because of this. We can let the elderly who are homeless and hungry starve and die, right? By the only footage of American support news channels were showing, they just threw the boxes off helicopters and men ran below to catch boxes and run off with them. Maybe I missed something more formal, then. I'll just pretend the war on Iraq never happened.
It's not about nationality. If you and someone you barely know are shot in the arm, you adress your own wound first and provide as much care as you can for it first. Saddam has been hostile to us for 30 years and invaded Kuwait. We had a reason to invade. Survivors caught the boxes and rushed to feed their families...but that's not good enough, is it? Do you actually think News channels can get everything on tape? We are sort of...not letting the victims starve. You know those boxes you talked about, the ones that say "food", it really is food. It won't benefit us one bit, yet we send aid. That shows our generousity. Our yearly aid budget is 4 billion. We can't just make money out of thin air. It doesn't matter how many died or who died. We sent a ton of aid, but florida is more important to us. On a worldwide scale Asia's disaster is, but to America, America is more important. -
How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?
Morpheus replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
Well, let's see. 20 people, give or take, were killed by the hurricanes in Florida. 155,000 people, give or take, were killed by the tsunami + aftershocks. Hmm. I wonder which calls for more attention? Your right, the disaster in Asia deserves more attention, but when did it become our sole problem to deal with? We are sending 1/3 of the money we sent to Florida there. That money will never benefit America. The 1 Billion for Florida did. The world is now giving around a billion, and it's not going to benefit us one bit. Florida was more important to us because it is a part of us. 1 billion is 1/1,000 of our total national budget for the whole year. \What ever happened to the quote 'It's the thought that counts'? Not to mention, Sri Lanka was most definitely not the only country hit by the tsunamis. Here's a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/allurepink/tsunamimap.jpg]map[/ur] in case. It was an example. Most of the other countries are poor, too. I don't think that should call for hurling boxes out of a helicopter like the people have some sort of terrible contagious disease. Sure, there's a ton of people in need, and I'm not expecting them to prance door-to-door with provisions, but it doesn't exactly go to show the best amount of sympathy to feed them like dolphins. So now we must deliver the boxes by land instead of air? We get the boxes where we need to faster. It could take an hour to drop 50 boxes by air, or deliver 5 by truck. Who cares how they get there, as long as they do? Since when is America that 'saviour'? Then shouldn't America be deprived of its 300 or-so weapons as well? If that's the case, then I'll say all's fair. Since when did America threaten to attack someone out of hostility? -
After the tsunami hit, world leaders rushed to help after the disaster. What does our dearly beloved president do? He resumes with his Christmas vacation. And then what? He proposes 20 MILLION. That's just about enough to buy a really nice house in Palo Alto. While, on the other hand, individual organizations in Europe alone are able to raise 70 million, and even a country as small as South Korea proposes 30 million - 10 million more than the United States. And yet, after the hurricanes hit Florida, Bush proposed 2 billion?
It's a little bit different. We were the ONLY ones going to pay for Florida. When was the last time we got aid from another country?
That's just about enough to buy a really nice house in Palo Alto.
And about a million in Sri Lanka. You see, Sri Lanka is one of the poorest countries in the world, and their money is borderline worthless. Everything is very cheap there.
And I'm not too happy about the way they're distributing the food, as shown on CNN. Tossing boxes of food like mardi gras beads out of a helicopter doesn't seem like the best way to distribute food to people who are homeless after a disaster.
But it is the most efficient. With thousands of tons of food going to the people, we simply can't hand deliver the food to everyone. That would cost money and manpower, and since we have most of our resources in Iraq, Kosovo, Chechnia, etc. it is impossible.
But I don't understand why the US is so concerned with such small countries having weapons of mass destruction. After all, which country owns the most?
It doesn't matter who has the most. You could have 100 AK47s with 500-round canisters all around, but if a child has one with 5 bullets, you will still take it from him. Even if we have more, that doesn't make theirs any less deadly. -
