We only approve about 40% of all art submitted (the best 40%)... There are a lot of reasons involved for rejecting submissions, too much white space, wrong category, me not being in a good mood, looks too good to be true, etc. Don't be discouraged though.

We think we fixed the problem. Enjoy. -
Itz ze Germanz! No, sorry, ze Quiz Generator!

Yeah, we figured out what was wrong, very long quizzes don't get past step 6 because the variables are transmitted through the URL. Maximus, who did the generator, said it'd take him a minute to fix by transmitting variables through a different method. A programmers' minute though often takes a few days though :-P. -
Yeah, we'll get a feature like that eventually, I agree it's a good one and one I designed long ago, when I first conceived of the idea of a quiz manager.

Very strange error you're getting...Can you email me at my velegant address: Adam at Velegant.com taking me step-by-step through what you typed in? I need to replicate the error, since we've tested this pretty hard and haven't had any problems. Has anyone else had any problems? Thanks, -Adam -
You have to visit your manager and tell each result to display before it'll be on your main page...by default saved results are only visible from your backroom

Hello, I'm going to officially launch Project Triple Innovation within 1-2 days, but I wanted to exclusively give you OB'ers a first glance... ...and selfishly test things out before unleashing everything upon our massive newsletter/main site. Please type out all responses + feedback + bugs + suggestions here. Let's go! (1) Introducing a high-tech new Guru All guru quizzes have now been integrated with our main database of anime. This lets you sort quizzes on a number of criteria. You can also rate quizzes on how accurate they area and save quizzes... Click: http://guru.theotaku.com/index.php But how can you save quizzes? (2) Introducing myOtaku's new quiz manager This innovative little feature lets you store all your quiz results (from Guru and any other site) in a handy format. (We take a lot of quizzes - this lets us collect the results we get easily.) Saving quiz results from a Guru test is 100% dynamic. You can just click the 'save' button after taking a test. Saving quiz results from other sites is a bit more tedious - too bad for them. The neatest part about this feature is that at any time you can select up to 3 quiz results to feature on your site's main page. Each result gets framed and thrown up instantly - no coding required. Click: http://www.myotaku.com/account/manager (3) And the final part of our hefty P.T.I... We really wanted to make it so fans could submit online quizzes - to add a new portfolio item to your site and to get new visitors. But there was really nothing online that would allow people with no programming knowledge to accomplish this. That's why we developed our own technology (thanks to Maximus for this) and produced our own first-of-its-kind quiz generator. You don't have to use this generator for Guru - its output works like a charm on any site. So the question became - how do we distribute this highly cool script? Well to answer that, we also wanted to, on the side, to produce an HTML tutorial that would interactively teach people HTML so that they wouldn't screw up their myO sites... For these two very ambitious features, we needed a new site. And so we created one. Enter FounderWeb.com - a resource site that's launching with the world's first user-friendly quiz generator script AND an interactive HTML tutorial. Play away with all this stuff....remember to post all feedback here. It would be an absolute mess to find a bug a week after launching it to all our myO members... Best, -Adam

I upped the url max length to 75 characters. Try again...

thanks for the heads-up...fixed.

I might raise the filesize minimum a little in the future. However, it's not difficult to optimize JPG images if you spend the time learning how. And the select category thing is definitely very important - before it, about 10% of all art submissions were categorized wrong (which was a huge pain for me).

Ah, I see what's going on here Dan. Basically, our posting system is setup to translate line breaks as tags - this is to make things more visual for users. Thus, when you format HTML code with lots of spaces, it has the side-effect of adding a tag for each space. Thus, your table code has like a zillion tags, which created that great gap.

To be on the main page, you must have a certain number of total votes. This is to keep the list pretty stable, as people with a small number of votes tend to wildly change their rating.

problem solved, thread closed.

Hehe, chalk this one up not to advanced programming problems, but to me forgetting to change the link to the color chooser after uploading. Should work now. ^_^
-
Also, tell me if the color chooser works on our greeting card site. This'll help me isolate the problem... Here's a quick link: http://greetings.theotaku.com/card.cgi?action=ecard&link=Inuyasha&image=BeBrave.jpg

Please post here if the "color chooser" pop up window in our myOtaku style editor either works or doesn't work for you. Also include what version/type of browser you're using. I'm currently investigating this... Thanks,

We'll eventually have a wallpapers site on theOtaku...It's something I've always had in my head, just so much else to do before...

Once James IM'ed me and I uncontrollably kissed my computer's monitor... Does that count? My first was only nice for the feeling afterward, not during. I wish I had been a bit more smooth though, I was your classic fumbling ultra-nervous guy. Wow, I can't believe so many years have gone by since...

I don't see any need for DHTML. For scrollbars, just use CSS. It's extremely easy. Here's a useful link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/samples/author/dhtml/refs/scrollbarColor.htm Is there anything else you want to do with DHTML? It's kind of a balancing act for us...making myOtaku customizable enough for more advanced users and simple enough for people with no web experience.

I showed this thread to Mars and he said he'll take care of it. He's just extremely busy, so it might take some time. He's currently editing some really sloppy old code and mixing things around at the fan art site.

Backing up or inserting posts between posts is fantastically difficult...I don't think we could ever offer that capability.

Shinji, I fixed it for you...The HTML was a mess - you should be more careful with that. For future reference, the bottom of your table was:

Don't worry - account activation isn't necessary anymore, that's just a bit of text we forgot to remove. Just remember your password, remember to set your cookies, type out your username/pass exactly (case sensitive) and give it a try. if not, then use the 'reset pass' feature.
