1. He will be truly missed. I am going to share some of my memories of Johnny. I remember watching the Tonight Show back in the day and loving it when he did his "Karnac the Magnificent" segment. He would dress up as this cheesy fortune teller and hold envelopes up to his forehead that "had been sealed in a mayonaise jar" in some guy's yard. He would say the punchline then open the envelope for the joke. It was always funny! I also remember the last show he hosted. Bette Midler was the musical guest and it was just a really touching scene. They shot part of the segment over her shoulder towards him at his desk. Both were misty-eyed. At the end she ran off stage since she didn't want to cry infront of everyone. It was really hard not to be emotional watching that last show. Johnny will be missed and never forgotten.
2. I believe that Robotech is my all time favorite anime. When I was younger I would watch Robotech and be captivated by the idea of my "Knight in shining Veritech" swooping down to rescue me from danger. Just the way Rick would rescue Lisa. Lisa was a very strong female character with a sucessful career. I loved seeing a female character that wasn't completely helpless and dependant on a man. I wanted to be that independant and successful in my career. I know at times Lisa did act a bit "weak", but that just made her more realistic. You can be strong, yet vulnerable. Robotech was the first animated programming I saw on TV here in the States that showed an "adult" story line. Death, war, love and interracial relationships...it had it all. It didn't sugar coat the story line since kids were going to see it. It was nice to finally have something that didn't talk down to us. It continues to be my all time favorite since it holds a lot of nostagic sentiments for me.
3. Worst Roomie:Picolette Chardin II from Ranma 1/2. I've mentioned in the past that this particular character makes me ill. Literally. When I saw the episode with Picolette it really grossed me out when he would use his huge mouth and long tongue to eat large quantities of food. At one point girl Ranma ends up waking up in the morning in the guy's mouth! That is just nasty! Plus, if this guy was going to be your roommate and you had to split the cost of groceries you would go broke! There is no way I would even want to be in a room with Mr. Big Mouth! Best Roomie:Chiyo Mihama and Tadakichi-san from Azumanga Daioh. She is so cute! Very intelligent and self sufficient she would be an excellent choice for a roommate. She could even bring Mr. Tadakichi with her to stay with us. They are both so well mannered it would be a pleasure to have Chiyo-chan and Tadakichi-san has my roommates. At least she doesn't have crazy huge anime hair that will end up clogging up the shower drain!
4.
I fall off things a lot, I guess.
We must be related Sara because gravity has never been my friend. I have fallen off of so many things and broken bones. Playground equipment, vehicles, down stairs...heck, I tripped into a sunken living room and smacked my head into a coffee table once! That was only one step down yet I managed to fall into the room. I am truly talented. As for being rescued I have one story that fits this requirement. The funny thing is that it has nothing to do with falling down. How odd. I am going to use some spoiler tags since the accident is a bit, well, gross in a bloody way. With that said, let's continue on. When I was 3 years old I got my right index finger stuck in the gears of some farm equipment. My older brother was playing around the equipment and touching the gears as they turned. I, being the tomboy I was, knew if he could do it I could do it too. No, I was wrong. I got my finger caught in the gears and ended up stuck. I was strong enough to keep my hand from being pulled in but not strong enough to pull my finger out. My dad came to my rescue. He got my hand unstuck from the gears.
My entire index finger had the appearance of bloody ground beef. The bones in my finger were all broken and sticking out all over. I remember looking at my finger nail as it fell off.
My dad grabbed me, my brother and mom and rushed to the hospital. I remember my mom telling me on the car ride to the hospital as she held my hand wrapped in a green bath towel that she had just washed that towel. At the time I thought I was in BIG trouble for messing the towel up and I apologized. Looking back at it now I realize she was probably saying that so she would stay calm. My dad is the one who saved me. My biggest regret about that entire event is not having to have my finger amputated but when I found out that my dad still has nightmares about the accident. That really breaks my heart. No matter how much I try to convince him that it is ok and that I am fine he still feels bad since he was suppose to be watching us and I got hurt. I have no problems typing, writing or using chopsticks. The only long term "problem" I have is dealing with that "extra" finger on all my right hand gloves!
5. Truly amazing! I love how you have this great juxtaposition with violence and comedy. Just the right amount of both. I am looking forward to reading more.
6. Reality TV scares me. I don't think I am that much of an attention seeker to do the crazy thing you see on those shows. Plus, I really am not that exciting of a person to watch. Unless my life is already being filmed like The Truman Show and all you people out there are watching me as I type this! Curse you reality TV!! Because of you people will watch anything nowadays!! ::shakes fist in the air:: Now If I were to be on any "real life" show the only one I would like to be on is "Emergency Vets" on Animal Planet. At least there I know I could handle the crazy things that happen! Did your dog eat your stash of pot? No problem! Did it eat your box of tampons? No problem again! This I can handle, and in fact have while working at a vet clinic. I wouldn't want to be on any other reality/game show type program. You aren't going to get me to eat a bucket full of rotten fish covered in flies while having fire ants swarming around my feet. No way. Gross things dealing with pets I can handle. Gross things with people or food is out of the question.
7. I am a child of the 80's since I was born in the later part of the 70's. I did most of my growing up in the 80's, but the 90's had many memorable moments for me. I traveled around the country with a Drum and Bugle Corps, graduated high school, attended/ graduated from college and got married all in the 90's. It was a very busy time for me. It's strange to think I started out the 90's in school and finished it being married with a career. So much can happen in your life in the span of just 10 years! I feel that I spent that decade becoming an adult. The 80's were fun and really was my childhood whereas the 90's were the big turning point for me. Watching that show on VH1 on the 90's really makes me realize how much stuff happened in my life during that decade. One great memory the show reminded me of was the Nelsons! I was thinking how one of my friends was totally in love with the Nelson twins in the early 90's. We would listen to their album on the bus while going to marching band competitions. As the VH1 program went on I started to recognize music from when I was in college and then when I was getting married! All I can say is- how time flies!
8. My grandfather was an award-winning published Senryu author in Japan. His name was Takeji Minegishi but went by the pen name Fujio Minegishi. He got the pen name by taking my grandma's name, Fuji, and making it masculine by adding the "o" at the end. He has several books published in Japan. His work was also used in a book of different Senryu's pieces that they translated into English. I can't remember the title of that book, I will have to check with my mom to find out. His last book was at the publisher when he past away in 1986, so it wasn't released until 2 weeks after his death. The front of the book has a couple of pictures of my grandparents. One with them in my grandma's flower garden the other in their home. I do have a copy of this book which is very special to me.
9. I have quite a few different collections in the works right now. It's funny, I don't think I would have thought about all the odds and ends I am collecting if it weren't for this thread! Most interesting indeed. Pandas: I know, what a shocker to all of you, I have a panda collection. If it has a panda on it then I will buy it. Clothing, toys, food packaging, watches, stickers, cards, rubber stamps, books, bookmarks, music boxes, jewerly, buttons, cell phone covers, purses, pens, note pads, keychains and much much more. I keep most of my collection confined to one room, but if you look around my house you are bound to find at least one (if not more) panda in every room. If it has a panda on it, I need to have it. Hakata Dolls: These dolls are made in Japan and are the kind you just look at through a glass case and that is about it. I get one every year for Christmas as a gift for myself. Currently I have 11 of them. If only I had a ton of money, the one I want to get is the Japanese traditional bride doll and last time I price checked it I believe it was over $2000. Needless to say, this one won't be joining my collection anytime soon. Anime Cels: Another one of my collections that I can only add new additions too when I have some spare cash. I have cels from Macross, Mospeada, Ranma 1/2 and Love Hina. I would love to buy more cels and at anime conventions if there is someone selling cels, I will be there looking though the books wishing I could buy them all. There is just something really cool about owning a piece of the actual production of my favorite animes. Whenever I see the episode with my cel I think "I own that!". What can I say, I am an Otaku.
10. Box sets are great, I love being able to watch an entire season of a program, or the entire series, all at once. Nothing like a good marathon of a great show! I have dozens of anime box sets but I am going to limit my list to my non-anime boxed sets. CSI: (DVD) I have both Vegas and Miami. I am collecting them as they are being released for sale. I love this show. I love watching the way the characters solve these interesting crimes. I think the graphic nature of the show lends more realism to the series. Absolutely love this show. Twin Peaks: (VHS) Some of you guys may be too young to remember this bizarre TV show from the early 90's. It is the brain child of director David Lynch (Wild at Heart, Lost Highway). It takes place in a little town in Washington state. In one episode they actually mention the name of my little Washington hometown! A mix of a murder mystery and the supernatural. This show is a cult classic. It's a bit off the beaten path. Monty Python's Flying Circus:(VHS) Ask me about any Python skit and I can probably quote it to you. For fellow Python fans you can understand the great joy a marathon of episodes can do for you. Absolutely great comedy, I never get tired of it. "Dinsdale?!" Edit: Note to Tony, Robotech is now being shown on the Anime Network. Of course the Anime Network is not readly available to the masses. As for Twin Peaks, I have never seen it on tv since the original airing back in the early 90's. Glad to find another Twin Peaks fan! ^_^
11.
Yeah, I am guessing there's just innocence behind it, but all I'm saying is that I'm surprised a kid would have that sticker in the first place. You wouldn't find it in a an everyday department store would you?
It is a bit of a shock to the system to think of someone so young with something associated with something so adult. Just walking around a mall there are many things that are suprising to see. Such as baby doll t-shirts for girls that say things like "Porn Star" on them. If you have ever been in those Gift shops in the mall you can find all kinds of adult marketed merchandise like t-shirts (Playboy, alcohol slogans and the like), jewerly and keychains. Whenever I am walking by one of those stores in the mall they seem to be over flowing with giggly pre-teens. The kid could have gotten it from a big brother or an older kid in the neighborhood. In our day and age who knows if the kid really knows what that bunny stands for.
12. Most discussion like this one have been posted in the Art Studio versus the Otaku Lounge. Because of that I am going to move this thread to that forum. It is very similar to the "Current Desktop" thread so this may get locked or merged with that existing thread. I will leave it to the moderators of this forum to decide. Now on topic I would first like to say congrats on finding your background image! To answer your question I am currently using an Alex Row from Last Exile background wallpaper I made myself. I did submit it to the wallpaper section of theOtaku. If you wanted to view it click here. I actually think I might be changing it soon. Alex is so dark and brooding I think it is time for something a bit more cheerful.
13. Dreams are really weird. I wish there was a way to record them so you could share them with friends. Here are a couple of dreams that has stuck with me. In the dream I was holding an infant. I have no idea who this baby is or why I have it. I am walking down the street. I end up going into a grocery store feeling very sad. I get to the frozen food section that has those long waist high tub-like freezers. The kind you have to reach down into to get your frozen food. The jazz band I was in during junior high was there having a "concert". They were playing the song "Traces" while set up near the freezers. As I get closer there are all these people wearing black and crying. I look into the freezer and there is some dead guy in the freezer! Apparently they were having a funeral in the frozen food section of the grocery store! That is when I woke up. I have no idea why I would dream of a funeral at a grocery store but every time I end up at that store I think of that dream. My next dream is a re-occurring dream I have been having since I was little. I know for sure I had this dream when I was in the second grade but that is as far back as I can date it. The dream is one in which when it starts I realize that it is the re-occurring dream. It is in a cepatone color. It's like that of a old brown and white "old west" photo. It starts out with me inside of an abandoned cabin. I am looking around for something. I am not sure what it is. While I am in there I see a figure walk by the window. I know this is the person I am searching for. I feel nervous and excited at the same time. I run outside trying to catch them. It is a tall man wearing a trench coat walking away from me. No matter how fast I try to run I can't catch this person. I have never seen their face or know why I need to catch this person. Each time when I am having this dream, even though I know it is the re-occurring dream, I can't get out of the rut that I seem to be stuck in when dreaming it. How frustrating.
14. Shinigami~Girl and kaisha please do not highjack a thread to have a conversation about anime characters. That would be best to PM this conversation or coninue it by starting a thread in the Anime Lounge. This thread is about wishes. I had to delete several of your responses since they are all off topic, thus considered spam. If you have any questions concerning this please feel free to PM me. ~Panda

16. Number one thing on my list is: Happy Birthday anatema!! May all your birthday wishes come true. You so rock. Now, as for getting on in years. I have 10 years on you, I am 29 with 30 right around the corner. When I was younger I felt the same way. I felt completely lost. Like a fish out of water. I didn't know for sure what I wanted to be when I "grew up". While all my other friends knew they were going to be doctors, teachers or lawyers I actually started college with no major in mind. Fate lead me to pursue a career in vet med. I always loved animals but never did I say I would make a career out of it. Owning pets yes, career no. After I got out of college and into my career I thought I had it all figured out. Huzzah! I had life by the horns! I was totally in control. Then I got sick and ended up back to where I was when I started college. Back to being completely lost. What made this time worse was I now have a mortgage to pay! Oh bother. But you know, I am ok with that. I know some how things will work out just like they did when I was younger. Things may be tough but making it through all those tough times is what makes us who we are. Riding this crazy roller coaster is what life is all about. Ups, downs, twists and turns...enjoy the ride. And like a roller coaster sometimes life pukes on us. You may not like it but you are going to have to deal with it. I guess at this point in my crazy life I am right in between. I don't feel completely lost and frantic or like things are smooth sailing. You on the other hand have already been taking life by the horns anatema. There is nothing life can throw at you that you can't handle. There is no way you will end up "amounting to nothing". You have already been working, going to school and caring for yourself for years. This shows you are a determined and responsible person. That is something no one can take away from you. Age for me really doesn't play a factor in how I feel life is going. No matter what your age, if you have the right attitude you will find success in life. I think experiences shape more of my feelings about life than any of my birthdays ever have. I also feel that success in a career does not always translate to success in life. I think a blue collar worker who is happy and kind has a better life than a stressed-out mean white collar worker. I just take life as it comes, the good and the bad.
17. Here is my little list of manga! -Ranma 1/2: I have this manga in both English and Japanese. It was the very first manga I started to collect. I fell into this after a friend asked me if I like Genma in panda form. I had not heard of it so I started to collect the manga. It has a panda in it, it's gotta be good! I find many quotes from Genma that are priceless! I love Rumiko Takahashi's style and the story was pretty funny. I enjoyed it but it does seem to drag on a bit after a while. -Chobits: I loved this series. It is not super long like a Takahashi's series so I really enjoyed reading it. I decided to start reading it after seeing the anime. It was interesting to see how the manga and anime differed. I think I like the manga better than the anime in this case. -Saiyuki: As many of you know I am a big fan of Minekura's art style. I really enjoy this series for the art as well as the story line. I think the twist she gave this old story was an interesting one. Mixing modern comforts (ie jeep, cigarettes, guns) with the original story was great. This is the first series to bring out the "fan girl" part of my personality. -Peacemaker Kurogane: This is the very first manga I have ever read that when I initially saw one of the characters I was inspired to do some fan art. I love the character design and am looking forward to finishing this series. Plus, it has Saizo in it, how can you not love a manga with a cute little spunky pig! -Gravitation: This manga is one of my favorites. I love the story and the character design. It takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster. Everything from love and heart-break to giant mecha pandas and silly rock star costumes. It makes you laugh and cry. Absolutely wonderful series. -Kare Kano: Another manga I started reading after seeing the anime. I really enjoyed the manga since it went into more detail with each of the characters than the anime. I love character development and I feel that Kare Kano delivers this to the reader. I enjoy reading and re-reading this series. -Alice 19th: I fell into this anime after reading a preview manga. I thought the story sounded interesting and the art looked good. I am a fan of Fuushigi Yuugi by Yuu Watase so more by the same author I was willing to give a shot at. I took a chance and started to buy them. I enjoy the story and am still in the process of reading the series. So far, so good. -Battle Angel: Alita: I only have this one in Japanese. The art is great and I would like to get this in English. It should be interesting to see what kind of popularity this one gains after James Cameron releases his live action Battle Angel movie. -Naruto: What can I say. I had to start reading Naruto after seeing hundreds of cosplayers at anime cons. I love it. The characters are colorful and interesting. I love the personalities each character is given. I look forward to finishing this series.
18. Pencil boards are thin pieces of laminated plastic about 7" x 10", that are used by Japanese students in their notebooks for several reasons. They give them a rigid writing surface and keep their pen or pencil from going through the paper to the next page. They are also great collector's items. You can find them with different anime characters or designs on them. Hope that answers your question. Now I have a question to add to this thread so we can keep it open. Who here collects pencil boards and why did you start collecting them? What pencil boards do you have in your collection? I don't consider myself an avid collector but I do have quite a few Saiyuki pencil boards. I love Minekura's character designs so I just like looking at them. I have a few Fuushigi Yuugi pencil boards too, I got them since I love the character design and enjoy looking at them. It's like having an art book but a bit more portable. So, who collects pencil boards, why did you start and what is in your collection?
19.
I have a couple of situations I'd like to put to you all; -An older person trying to reach something on the top shelf in a store. -A woman/girl being harassed by a man who seems to be her boyfriend.
-An older person trying to reach something on the top shelf in a store. I would offer help. I am no the tallest but I can jump and climb! I am only 5'2" tall and my mom will always ask me to reach stuff for her because I am "so tall". What can I say, I come from a family of short people. -A woman/girl being harassed by a man who seems to be her boyfriend. That's a tough one. Many times there are couple who even when fighting will join sides to protect each other. It it turned into something physical then I would call the police and have them sort it out. Now for Lady_Rin's question about first aid/CPR training. I have been certified in CPR on adults and animals. I have never taken the infant CPR class which I really should go and take. My husband is an EMT and has all of his first aid/first responder certification. I have been very fortunate to never be put into the situation where someone needed my skills (human that is). I have done CPR on animals dozens of times. What I do know is that I don't know it all. First do no harm. I am not going to exceed my skill levels to help someone because it may cause more damage than good. My state does have a "Good Samaritan" Law but I am not going to test the limits of that. There was a case of a man who came across a single car accident on the highway. I don't remember all the details but here is what I do remember. The driver had been thrown clear (next part is graphic)
and he was folded in two at the legs, backwards. The good samaritan "unfolded" the driver since they couldn't stand to see him that way.
The driver lost use of his legs. The debate then turned into: "If he hadn't been moved would he still be able to walk?". I know I wouldn't want to deal with that guilt or doubt. Now, to help out those of you who may be having difficulties keeping track of the questions: -Lone toddler crying in a shopping mall. -First person at the scene of a car accident. -Person drowning. -Obviously upset person running down the street. -Injured animal. -Elderly person having trouble crossing a busy street. -Person shoplifting. -Smoke coming from the upper windows of an apartment building. -Drunk fumbling to get his car keys into the door of his car. -An older person trying to reach something on the top shelf in a store. -A woman/girl being harassed by a man who seems to be her boyfriend. And the separate questions of: -Have you ever been put into a similar situation? -Do you have CPR/First Aid training? -Does your area have a "Good Samaritan Law"? Hope I didn't miss anyones questions. If I did PM me and I will edit them in. ^_^

22. My life after high school has been a roller coaster. I graduated high school over 10 years ago and college shortly after that. I took classes at the local community college my entire Junior and Senior years in school instead of the classes at the high school. I got married in 1995 too. Thinking back to that time I remember having huge plans for what I would be doing. I figured that my husband and I would be in our careers, start our family when I was 26, have a couple of kids and we would live happily ever after. Needless to say life had different plans for us. I was 6 years into my career in veterinary medicine when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). I tried to continue working but soon the physical pain became too much for me to continue working. I had to leave the career I loved because of a disease that my own body was doing to itself. Also because of the medicine I have to take to control the disease and the disease itself, my husband and I decided it wouldn't be good for us to have kids. RA has been know to get twice as bad after a woman has a baby. If I can't even continue working how could I take care of a child? And if I get worse after having a baby I will probably not be able to take care of myself. The risk is too high. I had thought by this time in my life I would have 2 kids and a great career. In reality I am on disability with no kids. Hey, life is what you make it. I have always loved writing and now I have time to follow that passion. I am now in pursuit of my next career of freelance writing. The flexibility in my schedule gives me the opportunity to work when I feel good. There is always a silver lining. :D
23. I enjoy both reading manga and watching anime. I like comparing and contrasting the differences in the story lines and, at times, the personality of the characters. I find both have merit and I do enjoy both forms of media. For me my choice of which I prefer all depends on my mood at the time. I find that when I am reading a manga that is also in anime form, I end up "hearing" the voice of the character in the anime in my mind when I am reading. To me, it actually helps me enjoy the manga more. To answer Dagger's question. I buy my manga in bookstores and my DVDs I will purchase them where ever I can find them. Many times buying DVD's online will cost less than in a brick-and-mortar store. Manga I have found to cost the same amount no matter where you search. For that reason I see no point in having to wait for my manga fix when I can just go to the bookstore.
24. Well I am happy you guys enjoyed this post. It's been a while since I started a thread of my own. Your responses have been very interesting to read. I purposely left the situations vague so you can decide what the details would be. Like the drowning person. You can choose the age of the victim (adult, teenager or child) and the location (pool, canal, river, lake, ocean) of the drowning. I will leave the details to those responding. Since Drix requested a few more situations, I have added a few more in this post. Feel free to respond or add more situations to the thread. It has been great fun reading how everyone would react in these situations. -Elderly person having trouble crossing a busy street. -Person shoplifting. -Smoke coming from the upper windows of an apartment building. -Drunk fumbling to get his car keys into the door of his car. Now for my responses! -Elderly person having trouble crossing a busy street. I would offer to help them across the street. If they accept, I will assist. If they don't want my help I would leave them be. I have worked with many older people and some get very offended if you "pamper" them. -Person shoplifting. I would report them to the store staff. I was at a grocery store one evening when I see 2 kids near the coloring books and toys. They were shoving as much as they could grab down their pants and under their shirts! One of my friends was working there at the time and I went to him. I know the kids were taken to the office but other than that I don't know what all happened. -Smoke coming from the upper windows of an apartment building. I would call for help and let the professionals deal with it. I would end up causing more trouble than good if I tried to get involved. With my luck I would get everyone out of their apartments only to find out it would be someone burning their dinner on the top floor and it isn't a problem! -Drunk fumbling to get his car keys into the door of his car. I would call for help then try to stop them from getting into their car. If I didn't do anything I know I would totally regret it. They could end up hurting themselves or a bunch of other people. One time there was this guy who came into the vet clinic completely wasted. He actually tripped over this dog in the lobby and then CRAWLED out the front door. He was so drunk he couldn't even stand back up! He wasn't driving so we didn't call the police. Crazy isn't it! Literal fall down drunk. There you have it, my responses to the new questions. Have fun with this thread, feel free to add more situations for everyone.
25. In our day and age it seems like we are bombarded by "real" TV programming. Whether it be those caught on tape shows or reality TV programs. It seems we can't get enough of this voyeuristic habit of "just watching" events unfold. It's all the excitement of watching a "train wreck" without leaving the comfort of your living room sofa. Now what would you do if a situation occurred in front of you? Would you stop to help? Pretend it isn't going on and ignore it? Or would you just stand on the sidelines and watch it all unfold? I know much of a situation would depend on what was actually going on. I am going to list a few events and would like to know what you would do in that particular situation and why you would do the actions you decided upon. -Lone toddler crying in a shopping mall. -First person at the scene of a car accident. -Person drowning. -Obviously upset person running down the street. -Injured animal. The last part of my question is have you ever been in a situation where you had to make the decision of helping or not? What did you do and how did it turn out? Now to answer my own questions! -Lone toddler crying in a shopping mall. I would enter the nearest store and ask someone to call for mall security to help. I would then go out to the child and try to comfort them. I wouldn't try moving the kid since I would be afraid that people would think I am kidnapping the child and I am the reason the kid is crying! -First person at the scene of a car accident. I would first get on my cell phone and call for help. I would then go to see if there are injured people in the car. I would tell them help is on the way and not to worry. I would not move anyone unless let's say the car was on fire. I would stay with the people until help arrived. First do no harm. I wouldn't do anything to make the situation worse for those involved. -Person drowning. I would definitely call for help first. Then I would try to find something to the person to help get them out of the water without getting in the water myself. I am not a strong swimmer so there is no way I would jump in the water to help since all I would do is become a second drowning person! -Obviously upset person running down the street. I would call for the police from some place safe. I don't know if this person is the victim of a crime, insane or on drugs. There is no way I am going to take the chance of getting hurt by some crazy person! -Injured animal. This last one ties in with a real life situation I was involved in. I would definitely stop to help. One day when I was driving down the highway there was some traffic moving really slowly. I first thought maybe it was a stalled car since people were driving so slowly. As I got closer I notice there was a large group of kids watching from the housing area near the highway. I then had the terrible though a kid got hit on the highway! As I drove around I saw an injured Pit Bull on the road and 3 cars stopped with the drivers out looking at the dog. I pulled over to help. Apparently one of the drivers had hit the dog and her kids are in her car just screaming. I went over to examine the dog (who had no collar and tags) and she was a very sweet dog. The others who had stopped didn't want to touch her since she was a Pit Bull who, unfortunately, have a very bad reputation for being mean. One of the other drivers who stopped had a pick-up truck and I asked him to drive the dog to the veterinary clinic I worked at. I picked up the dog and put her in the back of the truck. She didn't even wimper, she was a tough cookie. Then the driver who hit the dog, the guy who has the dog and myself all go to the clinic. We patched the dog up who basically had some cuts but no broken bones. The woman who hit the dog was so happy I had stopped and her kids all gave me hugs. It was great. I am just glad the guy with the truck was willing to go out of his way to help. The end of the story is a good one too. After the dog was well enough to leave our care she went to the humane society and the woman who hit her adopted her! I have training dealing with injured animals so this was like a day in the office. It was pretty exciting to actually help "out in the field". This was definitely one of the highlights of my life. I really felt like I made a difference. Well, there you go, my responses to my own questions. Now I want to know what you would do? Would you help or will you just walk on by?
