sorry for shouting before I dont usually use caps lock but I felt it nessecary.
That's fine, lol. I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes. Listen to these fellows, they all care and are hoping for the best for you no matter what kind of situation you are in. My pessimism is miniscule when compared to all of this support.

The rest of the CD is a mirror of 'I'm So Sick'. Screamed lyrics detailing varying levels of angst and self-loathing/loathing of others matched with an aggressive musical score. I'm not sure about CD pricing in your area but it was only 9.99 here, lol. Picked it up on a whim- pretty good deal for an above-average CD.

If you could meet other OtakuBoards members, would you?
DeathKnight replied to a topic in General Discussion
Ignoring the logistical/timing problems involved for many of the members I doubt that I want to attend any party that you're at, Wizard. Your topics are funny in a purposely-nonsensical way but I still think I'd punch you in the face within moments of meeting you IRL. Cheers. -
I have an unhealthy attachment to Legend of Mana. I'm not sure if it's the sprite graphics, the humorous dialogue, the open character-creation, the combat system or what- it's just a ton of fun to play through to me. It's worth a quick spin if you want something amusing and genuinely entertaining. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the two Suikodens- Suikoden 2 specifically is usually considered to be one of the best RPGs on the PS1, rivaling that of CC/FF7. Unfortunately they are rare enough that I think Suikoden 2 is still worth about 30 bucks used if you're lucky, lol. I rarely care about graphical quality and I find some of the popular PS2's RPGs don't appeal to me as much from their dialogues/stories. They seem to be so heavily dripped in poorly-written/translated/voiced angst that I can't stomach more than an hour or two of their crappy stories in a sitting. Star Ocean 3 and Grandia 3 were particularly difficult to play, lol. FF10 was pretty bad too. Redeeming the PS2's RPG library are such jewels as Dragon Quest VIII, Growlanser Generations and Nocturne. Those are just great RPGs, period.

Do You Think About Your Generation's Future?
Uhm, of course there are bigger problems.[/COLOR']
I'm glad we agree, my orange-fonted friend. Actually someone like me who does care about politics and the well being of our society is a lot lot lot better than some random kid who doesn't care about anything except for his own self. He's content with the world because he lives in his own little world where life is fine and dandy. I realize the world needs to be fixed. I'm pretty sure i'd be a lot better in politics than him. Actually i'm 100% certain. And the fact that you said that is completely moronic and biased.
A politician is a form of leader. You show the intolerance and zealotry of a tyrant more than someone who could positively affect the world and make things better for our generation, the next and beyond. That is why you are not my choice for President. It's not a lack of care or a lack of intelligence. It's your personality, a personality that I'd rather not see with any considerable amount of power. I mean, that's all I can say from this thread. Maybe you're just really passionate about this topic and that's all. I would hope as much. -
Name: Tristan Crow. Species: Human. Class: Mercenary of many talents. Appearance: Is as attached. 6'2, average weight. Biography (Recent history): Tristan hauled himself up onto the river shore, water pouring off of him as he rose up. A cacophony of shouts and screams came from behind him. He sat down and looked to the ship he had been on just a few minutes prior. The night was lit up from the flames that consumed it. Screams continued to come from it as the bandits continued their assault, the flames spreading as if alive with bloodlust. Tristan shook his head knowing well that traveling with such high-class persons along this route was asking for trouble. He had hoped to meet a future client, someone of some importance. Instead, he was watching a band of brigands waylaying them from afar. With a sigh he stood and walked away from the river, leaving the ship and it's occupants to whatever fate had in store for them. Only fools fight for free, after all. That and his weapons were sitting on a short distance away within the distressed ship. He knew that they were already in the possession of some uncouth figure by now. Another sigh escaped his lips before he disappeared into the thick foliage. Tristan knew the surrounding area well enough to get to a road that lead to somewhere that had what he required- shelter, food and warmth. The Boar's Head Inn, to be precise. It was on route to his destination.. the latest conflict, a hotspot drawing in many of his profession. With little time to waste he continued down the road, disappearing into the night

Federally there is no 'official language' given, the de facto language is obviously English for business/political manners. Several states/territories have an official language. Interestingly New Mexico and Puerto Rico are both officially bilingual between Spanish and English. Of course to become a naturalized citizen you have to show fluency in English- writing, reading, etc.

As I said, this isn't an idealistic world where being a good samaritan to every single person is possible. In fact, after calling you all on your ethnocentric tendencies, I offered the opinion that it should be regulated, lol. Heavily, if necessary. Pragmatism before idealism. Just, be content with what you have. You don't have to be one of these illegal immigrants, you're somewhat better off.
Do you think it is a valid strategy?
If it works, it was. If it doesn't, it wasn't. I mean, that's the best answer I can think of, lol.
DO you think it will solve anything?
I think that it will have an affect on the outcome of the bill in question. I don't think the protests really presented a 'solution', just a rejection of the solution that has been given. There is little to make me believe that I can understand why illegal immigrants do as they do but there are ramifications to their actions. I will say that the [strike]ethnocentric pigs[/strike] people in this thread should feel contentment with their reasonably serene lives in the lower/upper middle class within their respective countries. The luck of many others seems to pale in comparison. It's too bad you can't just help everyone. The world isn't that simplistic, not that idealistic. Immigration needs to be regulated somehow but the regulations can't forget the foundation that the country was built upon, the ideas that we believe to be 'American' [or Western]- freedom, tolerance, acceptance and.. whatever else we spurt out as our own. Pessimistically, this seems like just the sort of problem for Democrats and Republicans to mishandle, lol.

Aruj chuckled at Iris and nodded, "I am content with the terms offered.. no further persuasion is needed. I will join your 'cause', Lady Duvall. I am sure I would wither in the face of your.. force, childe. That would be quite embarrassing for myself as you can imagine." His eyes twinkled ever so slightly before he continued, "The Infernal Aruj Zale is at your service, childe. Though, as comrades, you and your motley crew can call me Aruj." Really though, the pardon was worth it's weight in gold to him. The wolves of the Empire had been shadowing him for too long. As uninterested in political affairs as he was, this was more of a transaction- a trade, perhaps. There were equitable benefits for both parties.. the young Duvall acquires help she is sorely lacking and Aruj gets the peaceful anonymity he requires. Iris looked pleased. A grin upon her face, she gestured to the door, "Then I'm afraid you have to leave this cushy room, Aruj. You're a prisoner no more." "How disappointing." Aruj replied, stood and cracked his neck, "I was beginning to enjoy it's atmosphere."

Politics. Warning--Very Controversial and Sensitive

Do You Think About Your Generation's Future?
I worry that we won't find an energy system to replace oil, or find one equally as bad. I'm sure there are bigger problems than people who are content with their existence, hm?
I also believe that all of the people that don't care in my generation will go on to have nothing to do with politics, which is good.[/COLOR']
And someone like you going into politics is barely better.
2. Carelessness - Most people my age don't care, and I wish I had noticed Derald's post eearlier so I could have said, here's a prime example.
No.. his post is not a prime example of that, lol. His post is an example of someone who is content with existing, no matter what the environments around him are. He does not take for granted the snippet of time he has and values it greatly- he plans to spend it on learning new things, seeing new things and doing new things. It's not the same as trying to change the world for the 'better' but it's nothing to condemn him for, lol.
To answer the original question of the thread, I believe that it will go on as most generations before ours.
And the generations before ours have set the stage for what we have to work with and deal with. This isn't just our present- it's someone else's past. To make the world a better place doesn't require the majority of 'my' generation to be active world-changing people. It requires a small group of people who can lead and want to do so. I think we have that- even in this thread I'm sure there are a couple of would-be leaders. Now, will those leaders improve the situation of our country and affect the world? Hopefully. Until then we are, apparently, going down the dark and dreary road to apocalypse-esque situations. How scary. -
"This seems.. familiar." Familiar as his situation might have been, Aruj had to admit that his lodgings were a bit more comfortable than the last time around- I mean, for being a cell the room they had tossed him in was certainly less dank, dreary and foreboding than the one from last time. He sat in a wooden chair within the plain room, leaning back and staring to the ceiling as he waited patiently for whatever was to come. The metal handcuffs they had put on him lay in a heap on the floor- as much as he respected protocol he found the cuffs an unnecessary annoyance. Time continued to pass. Hopefully, they had considered his offer and were coming to tell him as much. Having evaded their capture for several years now they had proven to be irritatingly persistent and disruptive. Making this overture to the Empire in person was probably the worst idea he could have thought of but, really, it was a little late to have doubts. As he brooded on this his tattoos shifted color to a dark green and began to glow. A smile crept across his face.. the Imperials had arrived. Other magicians had been arriving and lodged in nearby buildings, buildings whose names did not include the word "Prison". Only Aruj had the luck of having this lofty 'room' as his own. A series of clicks came from the heavy, iron door as it's numerous locks came undone. It swung open hesitantly, letting out a horrendous creeeeak as it went. The door guard came in, his armor clanking as he walked, and stiffly stood straight up. "Presenting Lord Zagh, Lady Duvall and Master.." "Aaron Tellis." A voice responded impassively. "Tellis! I'm very sorry, Master Tellis." The door guard said to whomever it was. Aruj was still staring at the ceiling, listening to the amusing attention the guard was paying to the introductions. "Please, make your way inside milords and milady." "Yes, please come in.." Aruj said and leveled his head to look at his 'visitors'. A young woman and two men were there, looking uncomfortable at the door guards careful attention to introductions. Amusedly, he examined them- a childe of Terra, an Imperial and a Passerine mixed-blood. He looked to the young woman, "Lady Duvall, I presume. It's rare to see a childe such of yourself in these lands, hm? What brings you and this motley entourage to my humble skyward cell?"

Name: (The Infernal) Aruj Zale. Age: 67. Gender: Male. Race: Human. Physical Features: Has extensive and ornate runic tattoos scrawled across his arms/back. These tattoos react to the presence of other magicians by changing colors and becoming luminous. In the centre of these designs on his back is large tattoo of an open eye. Height: 6'3". Weight: 202 lbs . Eye Color: Hazel. Hair Color: Graying black. Place of Origin: Unknown. Implied to be from the White Fires Empire. Appearance: Tall and athletic, Aruj has managed to keep himself in good shape given his years. Long, unkempt and graying black hair crown his head and he always seem to have some sort of a beard having little time in his travels to keep chopping it off. He wears a simple white undershirt, brown vest and black pants that is covered by a crimson travelers cloak. Loyalty: Iris. Personality: Aruj seems aware of many things that others are not- about their environment, about themselves and about the world at large. He rarely mentions any of this to the person's involved unless asked and, even then, keeps several secrets. Wry and sarcastic, he enjoys caustic responses in conversations and can be pretty easy-going when wronged. In times of stress he maintains an air of indifference and tries to get the job done as best as possible. His morals are shaky at best given his history and he follows his version of a "thieves code". Seems very knowledgeable about topics that deal with the metaphysical. Magic Type: Powerful elementalist specializing in fire. Weapons: Himself. Fights unarmed and uses his elementalist abilities. Short History: Uninterested in revealing much about his past, the first mention of him in public records is in regards to the Ontos Order. Founded ten years ago, it was a fanatical organization zealously devoted to the study of all things metaphysical to the point that they had begun to tinker with the very darkest artifacts and spells they could find. Corrupted by something unknown, the members of the organization were driven into violent madness claiming allegiance to a Goddess of Wisdom, represented by a single wide open eye. Rampaging around the country side, they had destroyed several outlaying villages when the Empire responded with appropriate force and the conflict ended with a spectacular battle between magicians. Without their sanity, the members of the Ontos Order had no real sense of tactics in the battle and were by then completely berserk. Outnumbered, outmaneuvered and lost within their minds, the Ontos Order was destroyed. Victorious, the Empire's forces traveled to the former headquarters of the Order to try to salvage something from this horrible series of events. The research the Order had done could be salvaged and used. Upon arrival the Imperials found a mere smoldering ruin of the building and a single man, boredly sitting outside of the building. That man was Aruj Zale. Arrested, he refused to reveal much during his interrogation beyond the fact that "the Order had not understood Her teachings and fallen far in their attempts to." His reasons for destroying the research stemmed from the darkness that it had spawned- he couldn't allow it to fall into anyone else's hands. He was placed in a secure jail and remainded there for two days. On the second night, a massive explosion destroyed part of the prision and set the rest of it aflame. Escapees were everywhere and it was difficult for the situation to be brought under control by the Empire. In the end, only a handful of the inmates had successfully evaded capture and Aruj Zale was among those few. Sought by the authorities, Aruj Zale.. didn't seem to care, at first. He went back to wandering, seeming to be in pursuit of something or someone. But, the constant dogging of the authorities was irritating and disruptive to his life. Fed up with this, for the last few months he has offered his services to the Empire. His payment? An official pardon from the administration. He continues to wait for a reply.. ~-~ OOC: I took some liberties with the world you have provided. I hope that is alright.

Name: Murat Reis. Nick name: Amir. Age: 50[?]. Gender: Male. Side: Star Gazers. Personality: Bored and burdened with the wisdom that comes with age, Murat looks disinterested the majority of the time. He lacks energy in conversations, devoting his all to his work and the orders he is given. Pragmatic rather than idealistic, he holds very little interest in idealistic dreams that other's have. He avoids boasting about any of his actions and is a difficult person to engage in a meaningful debate with- he simply isn't interested. His loyalty is very solid and does care for his friends though it can be hard to tell sometimes. He has a sharp mind and can be, after some persuading, convinced into giving advice to those who want it. He is an ex-marine- the Helljumpers, the ones who stormed planets and ships with reckless abandon for the Empire's cause. His tactical mind is geared towards land based and ship interiors more than ship to ship battles because of this. He has a soft spot for kids and is presumed to have grown up children of his own somewhere. Appearance: Statuesque and tall, his height stops short of surpassing Captain Strange's- he is 6'3" at the most. His skin is dark and marred with a smattering of scars from various wartime wounds. His left arm was lost some time ago and was replaced by a cybernetic prosthetic. A healthy head of black hair and his long beard are left mostly unkempt. From birth he has had heterochromia- his left eye is dark green while his right eye is blue. There isn't much to say about his outfit as he just wears whatever casual clothing is available. Weapons: Cybernetic arm- The material used to craft it is unnervingly durable. It can stop blades and projectiles rather easily. Aside from this, it has augmented his strength to the point that his arm alone can deal significant damage to most anything in his path. Unfortunately, as it is as mechanical device, it has a very minute chance of breaking down internally or being disabled from various energy or EMP devices. Helljumper Training- Helljumpers received special training that focused on a small list of tasks usually relegated to special operations units. Explosives, electronics, computers and unarmed combat were the highlights of this training. His unarmed combat is nothing on par with the secret arts of the Captain but it is superior to most other military grade and special operations training that is given. Ability: An Apple a Day- He seems to have an abnormally strong immune system and heals a little too well. Technically speaking, he should have died on several occasions in the past but has overcome his wounds anomalously. Even his age is unknowable as records about him seem to be nonexistent beyond what the Imperial Military had on him. Flash back: -?? Years Ago- "We're getting slaughtered out there." I glanced towards the cockpit of the shuttle towards the too-young-to-be-there aide. Messy looking kid- probably having a bad day. I'd bet as much the entire Empire was pretty disgruntled at the moment. He transferred to my squad recently as some sort of assistant.. prolly some sick joke the Admiral found amusing. "Yeah." I replied half heartedly. "You know what that means." "Hmm?" He seemed ignorant of the tactics of the Admiral in charge of the operation. Ignorant and curious. He didn't really want to know about it but.. well, I'd be lying if I said I really cared at this point. "Our next orders will be something stupid and suicidal." I stated and gestured to the holographic battlefield map before me. "They'll shove the Marines down the throat of their flagship I'd guess. What is it, a carrier?" I squinted at the map and confirmed the icon that represented the enemy flagship. "Yeah, it's a carrier. Haha, that's a fun ride right there. All those anti-ship weapons going off, rocking the shuttle like a damn tempest. The fighters desperately trying to shoot you down before you inject the carrier with your load of Marines. Crawling into the ship with your weapon of choice out.. a knife, your fists, some type of energy weapon maybe. Hell, I knew a kid who always took a gun that fired bullets of all things. Always said he daydreamed of that one time when he might blow out something important and go one on one with the vacuum of space." The aide seemed unnerved at this point. I looked to him and smiled, "Welcome to the Helljumpers, son." "A.. pleasure, Mr. Reis." The aide was hesitant- yeah, he has no idea what he's been shoved into. "Please, just call me Amir. Everyone else does." I said as the computer in front of me began to beep. I typed in a few commands to bring up the written transmission. It took a few seconds to decrypt and I began to read it slowly. A smile crept over my face. "Alright." I spoke into my headset, "You get those orders, pilot?" "Yeah, Amir. I got them. This is going to be a fun ride." A voice replied. "What were our orders?" Again, the aide really didn't want to know.. but he seemed to realize as much this time. The shuttle rocked violently sending the aide tumbling to the floor. I smiled at him as he stood and pointed to the carrier's icon on the map. "There's our prize." -
"The plot thickens." Kaida said with a hint of sarcasm and a slight upturn of her lips- she was enjoying this somehow. The challenge, the mystery of it had her curiosity firmly focused on it. "This situation is getting more complicated, Aura." "The mission.. hm. It isn't so black and white anymore, is it?" Aura leaned against a nearby wall and looked to Kaida. "It's not just us versus the bad guys. These guys seem to have a less malicious motive behind their actions.. something that has driven them to such a desperate length." "Malicious or not we will follow the Arbiter's orders still." Kaida said and held her forehead as she continued speaking, "We are still too ignorant of the situation to do much else beyond being soldiers." "It's obvious we'll discover more about their plight, their 'situation'. What will happen then? What will you order us to do?" "Whatever I feel is the right course of action." Kaida's eyebrow arched and she shrugged, "What else is there to do?" "True enough." Aura responded and nodded to her. "I should check on Vin." Kaida murmured to herself and turned to the room. A few pieces of rubble were strewn about haphazardly around the furniture and equipment within. A quick search of the table turned up the com-link underneath some papers. She raised it to her mouth and spoke into it, "Vinovka." No response. Kaida furrowed her brow, "Vinovka, come in." "Yeah, sorry about that." Vinovka's voice came over the com. "I had a.. visitor. Ran off suddenly." Boredom was apparent in her voice as she continued, "I'm a bit disappointed." "You too? They're making a different move, then. Something aside from trying to kill us.. the hostages? Blast, are they going to do something to the kids?" Kaida stepped towards the new 'window' their opponent had made for the room and peered towards the warehouse. "Mirror, what's the situation?" Static came back over the com instead of the usual silence. Kaida lightly hit the malfunctioning device, "Worthless terran technology.." She muttered to herself. "The link going down.. you think that's a mere coincidence?" Aura tilted her head at Kaida. "No, I think not. Come on. We're going in." Kaida hoisted her mini-gun up, resting it on her shoulder. She nodded to Aura, "Let's go see what kind of trouble they are stirring up. Vinovka will come along soon enough. Any objections?" "I'm always up for waltzing into trouble, Kaida." Aura replied with a slight smile.
We use energies and stuff.
I'm sorry I keep hating on you but I found that one sentence to be strangely funny. :p Much respect of course.
I was raised Roman Catholic, and I go to church every Sunday. I am currently struggling to find what I believe in besides[/i'] God, and what I believe from the church. However, despite anything else I believe in, I believe in a higher being, in God, and I believe he is all knowing, and that he created everything.
What you must understand is that even with the presence of God[s] there are problems on Earth that seem to be unaffected by their will if they are affecting anything at all. Beyond spirituality there is what we see around us- the problems of our current world that we must expend effort into fixing ourselves. God[s] might have created us but we are the owners and caretakers of this planet [as bad as we are about it]- it even says that was our original purpose in Genesis. Believe in yourself and your fellow man. That's all I can see you having for sure at the moment, as unreliable as your fellow man may be. We have responsibilities whether or not our creators are Gods.
Apes into humans? Maybe. But what guided that process? Why do we still have Apes? Why didn't all the apes evolve with us?[/color']
I'm no expert but I believe there was a branching effect between what would eventually become us and our monkey relatives. Within our own genus there are several different species of homo but the only species that is not extinct is homo sapiens. I'm sure some egghead OBer could give you a short [strike]tangent[/strike] essay that would better answer your questions.
(I don't understand atheism or agnosticism either. It may be that I don't know enough about either, but if you don't believe in anything or think it's a big waste of time, then just say you have no religion. =P)
Gross oversimplification: Agnostics= Do not believe it is possible to prove or disprove/see/know about the existence of God[s] for various reasons. Atheists= Do not believe in God[s]. Just, there is a diversity amongst Agnostics and Atheists. The only thing that really unifies them as one are the basic thoughts above- beyond that they can be vastly different. Then there is nontheism which is kind of a blanket term for all of the above and more. If you really wanted to know more about them you should study them since the above is more so you kind of know what's up.
Perhaps if you had quoted her in context and in reply to Nomura's original post, things would've fallen more smoothly into place.
Perhaps if you'd shut the.. nah, just kidding. ;) I was being honest. I didn't see much difference between the points and tones of Nomura and renayiiq. Both were tangents that were (a wee bit) blind and emotional [one in admiration for her faith, the other being a reaction of anger]. I meant to offend, but only to make a point. Many pardons, I suppose. But, man, I thought you had my back! You fail me again, Retri. :(
Here are some thigns for you people to think about

Everything will eventually die. It might be now, or 1000 years from now.
If your a kid and you have a BF/GF, they aren't your only love.
Don't eat fried food, you might get a heart attack
those are some things to think about.
1. Alternatively, new things are always being created both animate and inanimate. Both now.. and, optimistically, 1k years from now. 2. If you are sure they are the love of your life make sure you hang onto them as tightly as possible. 3. Considering what you said in point 1, why does this matter?
 1. There are plenty of things that won't die. Such as an ideal or a principle.
The majority of the things created by man will eventually fall into a state of ruin/decay including ideals, principles, objects and the human body itself. They have to be recreated, repaired, replaced or disposed of.
God saves many people. The smart ones, know that God helped 'em and get saved soon afterwards.
I am glad you are confident in your chosen spirituality, however, as all of us were blessed/[cursed?] with free will, nobody here is required to agree with you. It is fortunate that they were not injured but I, myself, would not attribute it to any divine intervention. Individual humans are far too meaningless on the scale of things in my opinion.
I do listen to Rock, and small peices of rap, but that doesn't change my religion one bit, but I know someone will give a lecture on it.
If they lecture you about it, ignore them. I'm sure you are well enough aware of what you will allow yourself to listen to.
I'm sorry that Jesus died for us....Us being the creatures of today's society, and us being pretty much living a life full of all kinds of things that God doesn't like.
A truly wise parent is always content to see His children succeeding, even if they are taking paths contrary to what the parent intended. I'm sure an all knowing, all seeing being could probably get over his own petty ego and pride to be able to see the things humanity has achieved thusfar in a slightly chaotic world.
I feel really bad for Goths(etc) Most are beaten or set into a world of sadness...and they turn to Satan. That makes their life even worse, I think.
That's.. somewhat stupid.
Oh, so someone who is a Christian is smartER than me?
You are not really proving yourself to be the smarter person by going into a long tangent. Surely you realized that, yes?
No, the bible doesn't count as the "word of god."
In the religion she follows, it does. In your opinion, it doesn't. So, from her point of view, yes. She has a limited understanding of God and his laws based on what was passed down.
You are seriously a VERY stereotypical person.
That's.. Well, I mean. Not to be insulting but you aren't coming off as anything otherwise yourself.
You're very ignorant and stereotypican and stuck up. Just step off of your throne or pedestal or whatever you put yourself upon, take off the crown of victory, and wash your hands of yourself
:animeswea Again, Nomura and yourself seem to have much in common. Perhaps this thread about religion can avoid further pointless arguments between opinionated individuals and keep some sense of.. maturity/order/sense. Failing that I'd love to see a free-for-all deathmatch.
