Alrighty then, if you actually sat through that, I apologize.
That's alright. Just don't let it happen again, kay?
Whoa, hold the phone. They are STILL going at the fillers?! Dang, it must be almost a year now since I've seen a Naruto episode... That's crazy.
Yeah, man. It's about a season+ of fillers by now and still going strong, lol. I think right now I'd like a really nice, quiet vacation somewhere to get away from the city. Maybe to some kind of a large national park or to the Gulf Coast for a weekend or so just to catch my breath a bit and relax. Just a little timeout before I get back into the game, you know?

Well if we are really going to resurrect cancer's thread I'd be glad to lend a hand as well. My graphical prowess is severely lacking in comparison to DW but I could lend a hand in other regards, lol.

I have numerous problems with songs reminding me of games. Usually when I play a console game I have some MP3s playing in the background and, inevitably, I'll get bored of changing what I'm listening to (I don't really enjoy making playlists) and one particular song will loop for, possibly, hours on end as I play the game, lol. Here's a small list that I can recall off the top of my head. Heaven Beside Me by Alice In Chains > Chrono Cross. Gravel Pit by Wu Tang Clan > Romance of the Three Kingdoms X. What Your Soul Sings by Massive Attack > Mario Kart: Double Dash! Dream a Dream by Captain Jack > Suikoden V. Raining Blood by Slayer > Growlanser Generations.
Some members, especially the newer ones, might be a little intimidated by older members or the mods and therefore be hesitant to ask for help.
To any and all afflicted by this shyness: Don't be. Most of us would be happy to help you make your RPG better in lieu of you just posting a steaming pile of garbage up that hurts us to look at. Not so much your typing or your spelling but the majority of you seem to have issues writing a coherent, "good" story in your opening posts- we can help you with that. We're all very nice, well-rounded individuals with little to no mental problems whatsoever so there's no need to fear us.
Agree? Disagree? Have a better idea?
This is a pretty good idea on paper. You just have to make it a reality in the proper fashion and I.. have no real opinion on how to do that at the moment, lol. Apologies. But it's a good thing we're making strides in this regard. It rakes at my mind in the night considering the colorless, bland world of the youth sitting at their computers typetypetyping away another RPG full of horrid typos and incorrect grammar. I toss and turn wondering to myself who can combat this scourge? What hero could defeat this disease afflicting the land and bring back the stringent order of good spelling and grammar that I remember from the golden days of yore, those days when one could run free without fear of 'tehs' and improper punctuation. Such a tumultuous time we live in, such horrors we must face. I hope we can rise to the challenge comrades.

In lieu of any pop I'd like to offer you something more sobering since I find that kind of music to be infinitely more tolerable than pop. The Delgados were an indie outfit out of Scotland that broke up in 2005. There sound is pretty similar to some of The Flaming Lip's albums which is, you know, positive, lol. I'd recommend you buy The Great Eastern and Hate both of which I got from Amazon.com for pretty cheap about half a year ago. That video sucks but the only full versions of the song on YT are AMVs, lol.
I'm not saying that Israel is targetting civilians, though it might be
I doubt it.
I'm just saying it is knowingly killing civilians. Its target is Hizbollah, but it knows civilians are in the region and bombs anyway without a single care. They give a "warning" for people to evacuate, but they bomb while people are evacuating and end up killing them. "Oh we tried our best" they think. Its because they don't give a damn about innocent Lebanese people.
Civilian casualties are inevitable when fighting in or bombing an urban environment. It has nothing to do about 'giving a damn', 'caring' or 'targeting'- it's simply part of urban warfare. Apathy is not the issue- if Israel wanted to lay waste to thousands of Lebanese civilians then they could have by now. It's just part of that type of war.
People are only supporting Israel because they are racist against arabs. The idea that anyone can support Israel after how many innocents it has killed, after how many people it has tortured and punished unfairly, shows just how skewed people morality is. You still think we're all terrorists and we all want to kill you. Grow up and start thinking for yourselves, and stop parroting your power hungry leaders.
Don't be ignorant.
An eye for an eye.
Makes the whole world blind.

Name: Arkadie Doroshenko. Age: 51. Nationality: Ukrainian born in Odessa, Ukraine. Faction: Hunters. Weapons/Items: Weapons- AN-94 Assault Rifle: The most modern assault rifle currently in the Russian Federation's inventory. Only elite military units and police forces have the rifle, it was difficult for Arkadie to obtain one though anything [or anyone] can be bought with the right sum of money- especially in Russia. This is his weapon of choice. Serrated combat knife: For those times when you just have to get up close and personal. Items- Arkadie's Truck: An old Studebaker US6. Sent to the Soviet Union during World War 2 via the Lend-Lease Act, this truck was a junkheap when Arkadie obtained it ('junkheap' being a little too generous). Carefully restored over a year or so during the 70's it is his main way of getting around. Rough and rugged it can take the most horrible of terrains. Cellphone: No description needed. Appearance: Speckled with gray hairs, black unkempt hair crowns his head messily going this way and that. He shaves once every few weeks, leaving him with a light beard most of the time. His clothing is just casual faire matched with a brown trenchcoat. He is tall and statuesque, his physique is very good for someone his age although he insists he's not that old yet. His eyes are a deep brown color. If you stare into them just long enough you can detect a bit of a lingering flame dancing within, waiting for the opportune time to flare up. Personality: Dry wit and sarcasm drips throughout his mind- much time has passed since he has fallen into cynicism and pessimism. By now it's infested everywhere within his mind. His bleak outlook is matched with an attention to duty and loyalty, doing what you have to do no matter what the consequences. A balanced mix of loathing and contentment keep him from teetering to far into depression or rapture and, perhaps, makes him a little dully stoic. He has a sense of humor, dark as it is, and makes use of it intermittently. His education in the Ukraine was good enough and he's well versed in Philosophy and Military Science from his time spent in Kiev University. Muttering nihilistic statements to himself as he drives is the most he does to give his current comrades any insight to his knowledge so most of them have no idea of his strengths in the two mentioned fields. Biography/Snippet: Recently recruited to the Hunter faction his past is something he keeps to himself. What is known from public records within the Ukraine and Russia is that he was a career soldier within the Red Army who retired after a long tour of duty in the Soviet-Afghanistan war after inheriting a large sum of money. His heritage has ties to an old Hunter family who were Cossacks within the Ukraine. With a new conflict brewing and manpower low, the Hunters sent him a letter detailing the situation at large and offering him a job. Listless with his semi-retired state, he agreed to join their faction. ~-~ Arkadie turned off his truck and opened the door. He glanced back inside and grabbed a few Czech Korunas before leaping out into the streets of Prague. Streetlights dotted the street, parting the darkness of the evening with their serene glow. The only glow Arkadie was interested in though was the sign right in front of him. Written in Czech it said, simply, "The Highlife Bar" and it was his destination of the moment. Swinging the door open he looked on into the semi-empty bar. A couple of men scattered here and there drinking to themselves but that was about it. 'How dull', he thought to himself as he entered. He walked up to the bar, his footsteps loud from the heavy boots he was wearing. He leaned on it and looked to the bartender who smiled at him and asked "What'll it be?" Arkadie responded and the bartender went off to get him his drink. He wryly smiled- his Czech was rusty but he was fairly certain he had ordered the right drink. Slavic languages were his forte having grown up in the Ukraine and he was confident in his mastery of them. The TV next to him blared out the local news, the anchor detailing a new series bizarre murders. If only they knew. If people were panicking now they'd run like the little roaches they are once they knew the truth. The bartender walked back and set the drink down in front of him. Arkadie lifted the glass up and muttered 'Here's to you, Beast' before taking a long sip of it. He sat the drink down and tilted his head to the side, sighing. It was the wrong drink.

I'd recommend Armor by John Steakley. This book is similar to Starship Troopers in tone but fixates itself on the psychological affects continuous warfare has on the main character, Felix as he continues to try to simply survive every battle he is forced into as dozens of his comrades around him are slaughtered. It's relentlessly morbid and violent, more than any of the dystopian novels listed in this thread but is surprisingly addictive from how well it's written and presented- you'll find it hard to stop reading if you can tolerate how bleak it gets at times.
I am about to turn 15 years old although many people think I'm older (I usually get 16-17) because I carry myself about in a somber/quiet demeanor. Personally I think the way I act can't be compared to any age group since often sobriety, maturity, and age have no correlation, but if I knew no better I'd think I was a very angsty college student given that I know so damn much about crap.
Why don't you ever display these somber, mature or intellectual tendencies on OtakuBoards then? Puzzling.
So if we'd have all said we act like ten year olds would that have been better?
I thought you were ten, Jaja..? :p Physically I look like a young adult which is.. what I am, lol. I'm turning eighteen next month so I have some time left to look a young adult. No rush, no rush. Mentally, well.. that's best left unconsidered. ;)

Chillax, Acheron. Contrary to what other's say the moderators here aren't Nazis too often. My first career choice was Architecture. How this died is pretty simple. I can't draw and I have a long, burning dislike of mathematics, lol. I just daydreamed about it for awhile and spent huge portions of my time studying architectural styles. So I leapt from architecture into the fast paced, whirlwind field of.. robotics? This fancy just happened to coincide with the first release of Lego's Mindstorm set that I got as a gift and.. promptly spent huge portions of my time on. Otherwise I settled into becoming a missionary or working at the New York headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses. This particular goal was slaughtered as my faith atrophied into agnosticism. Again, I spent an unhealthy amount of time studying the Bible and the dogma of the Church to the point that I often sputtered into tangents about religion with my bewildered schoolmates. A dream from my childhood that I still have now is that I'd enjoy adopting and raising a few children. I was adopted myself so I have a bias towards adoptee rights and adoption in general. I'm fairly certain I'll try to do this in the future. Pity the child I select, lol. ;) That's about all I can think of now. I'll expand on this later as my other dead and buried goals come back to me, lol.
Another goal I had: Grow boobs. XD Did I accomplish this? Why, yes. Yes I did.[/color']
Congratulations. :p

I find this topic amusing since Time magazine recently had an article called "The New Science of Siblings". It was a lengthy (8 pages of text- My post here does it no justice, lol) and interesting read. The run of it is that scientists have been mulling over what molds your personality as you age- how, after 10/20/40 years your personality evolves from it's basic framework you were given at birth. Parents/your environment are some of the greatest influential factors but the article describes how scientists are also starting to add siblings to the list of things that greatly influence your personality throughout childhood and beyond. It was in the July 10th issue so it should be in the Time.com archives by now if any of you are interested.

You Just Won "Insert Expensive Item Here"!
DeathKnight replied to Dhampir's topic in General Discussion
I presume they are all fake. If they aren't fake then they make you run around like a monkey doing mindless BS for some time before you get your "free" item. Although I could be persuaded to do tons of mindless BS for a "free" 360. :p -
The beast of a minigun awoke once more and churned out a stream of bullets. With an air of surprise to their arrival, Kaida dropped a dozen gang members within a few seconds as Aura surged forward up into the air. She sailed right into their ranks landing squarely on top of a shocked MS13 member, toppling him to the ground. "What a feisty woman." Kaida muttered amusedly to herself. "Kaida!" Mirror's voice came through the communicator somehow making it through the cacophony of gunfire and yells. Kaida glanced to the shiftling who pointed to the ring shaped machine and then to the vortex. She mouthed 'I've got your back' and held up an unimpressive little device. Kaida blinked at it, thinking of the wide array of armaments MS13 was using against her. "With that little Terran thing?" Kaida asked sarcastically, arching an eyebrow. Mirror tilted her head questioningly and tapped her ear. Kaida sighed murmuring 'nevermind' and nodded affirmatively to her. "Do not let me down.." She whispered. Between her and the impressive machine was a small army of angry, well-armed MS13 gunmen. Their confusion was wearing off and being replaced by conviction- they weren't going down without a fight. Aura was still in the thick of it. Her movements were simply mesmerizing. Shifting between the soldiers, deftly dodging bullets- she seemed untouchable as she moved, dancing and weaving as only a master martial artist could. Kaida jogged towards the machine blasting away gunman after gunman. It was a difficult environment to fight in as the scared, huddled mass of children was just a short distance away. There wasn't room for any error on her part. Still, she smiled as she looked at the machine. Destroying things seemed to amuse her the most in war. You can slaughter a dozen different types of fool but there is a unique show only a dying machine can produce. "I can hardly wait."
Now I don't really want to play the blind idealist here, but...
No Retri! Don't do it!
As countries become more industrialized (China, for example) the country becomes less and less destitute and more productive. The quality of life goes up with the economy
Well.. As China industrializes dissent has risen due to a rapidly deepening rich-poor divide which is going to be a big headache to even out due to it's sheer size in population and land area. In rural areas there have been violent demonstrations against industry to the point that a couple of dozen demonstrators were killed by police. Pollution has also ballooned due to industrialization. Addressing 'quality of life', air quality has taken a heavy toll all across Eastern China from it's industrialization which, obviously, creates an unhealthy environment for the common person to live in. The majority of China's cities are considered "polluted" and cancer/disease caused by the air pollution is one of the main causes of death in China. Most of China's rivers are also heavily polluted, 80 percent of them if I recall correctly. So you solve a few problems while unleashing several others. It's unfortunate but that's reality.
War is bad I know.
No, it isn't. War is one of our fortes, it's something humans do well. It's an art, it's something you practice and perform, something you dedicate yourself into learning. War brings advancement, it forces change, it forces progress. Controlled violence is one of the most potent forces humans have at their command.
Strap yourselves in, folks, this is gonna be a long one.
No Faster! Don't do it!
It might not be global worming. It could just be NATURE not human resources.
.... No, it IS being heavily influenced by human industry, lol. Nature has been raped over the past few centuries by humans, there can be no doubt about that.
And thus the world ends, not with a deafening boom but with endless consideration of the qualities necessary for our significant other.
Dun dun dun.
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket.
That's a great song, man. Props to you. My perfect girl would be someone imperfect, something human. She's flawed, yeah- maybe a little nuts or a little dramatic. Bad childhood or spoiled rich kid, something kind of offbeat. There's a few flaws in the diamond but it's still a diamond, right? Makes it interesting, makes her something to be explored. Something to be curious about. Someone that catches your interest as a person. Physically she'd not be a supermodel. She'd be cute or pretty, something I'm attracted to.
And[/i']?
lol. And... knowledge is power! Seriously though, that was just an FYI. Adding numerology to the picture doesn't do much for the validity of the scriptures. Just, you know, if you're ever on Jeopardy! and the answer is "This number is said to represent imperfection and humankind within the Bible" you know what to do.
Depends on how you define faith; to me, faith is when you believe in something that flys in the face of logic and evidence. Therefore I wouldn't call it 'faith.'
Then you're right by that definition.
-
Heh. You know what's 'ludicrous' to me? The thought that the world, the creatures and wonders on it, and the great societies upon it are all a product of a trillion and one chance.[/color']
And adding an invisible patriarchal deity guiding it all along certainly clears up the entire picture! Good thing we got that solved, phew.
'Laughable' is a word I'm quite fond of... I also find it helps me describe things I often laugh at. Unless I'm mistaken that is the definition of the word 'laughable.'
... Ah. 'Laughable' is a word I'm quite fond of, too... it helps me describe things that are.. laughable. When I laugh I look at the dictionary and ask myself 'Is there a word that can describe this situation' and.. thankfully, one word is there. That word is.. laughable.
The way I see it, if my opinion offends others than so be it. I won't censor my opinion just so that I don't offend other people. No matter how offensive my opinion may be to someone, it's my opinion and I'll express it. I feel that's how the world should work. There's to much political correctness and to little self-expression these days.
Why do you love to grandstand, Cygnus? Who you are, what you stand for, how much you do or don't care, your little spiel on your concepts of self-expression. How is that relevant to this topic? Should I give you a high five with a "Good job, buddy!"? I mean, just tell me what to do here man. I'm pretty lost.
I don't see how it was a metaphore. If it WAS a metaphore, I don't understand why it would be a metaphore - Why would one of the many authors say something occured in 6 days (i.e six cycles of the sun.) when it in fact occured in 6 billion years? I mean, that just plain doesn't make sense.
Well, the number seven crops up as a 'special' number several times throughout the Bible (and in several other religions). Symbolically, it has a special meaning just as the number 6 and 666 does.
Faith is something I could never understand, and most likely never will. I guess that's just me. I understand that the absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence, but I don't see absence of evidence as conclusive evidence of existence either.
You don't understand religious faith but faith itself is something you already have zealously embraced. You've simply placed it in a different concept.
Hmm... I understand where you're coming from, but wouldn't that mean that more or less everything in the bible is the same way? That everything was altered, eiter exaggerated or what-have-you? Wouldn't that mean that the very integrity of the religious text is suspect and therefore unreliable? That's what it seems like to me.
Personally I don't think you can take much in the Bible at face value. Even Christianity is shattered into numerous sects that all interpret it in vastly different ways. Plus, you don't really that to question the integrity of the religious text, do you? lol. It's been edited and literally manhandled for centuries to fit it's role as a spiritual text. I mean, the body of work that was classified as Apocrypha alone is pretty extensive.
Heh. And the re-telling of the flood story by several faiths kinda makes ya ponder if 'A Great Flood' really did occur sometime in history.
Yeah. There are several 'candidates' for it, if you will. The first one that comes to my mind is the Black Sea flooding. Basically it's the flood that turned the Black Sea from a large lake into the Sea we have today. The word flood doesn't do it much justice. It was one big ************.
I guess I do then.
Well, what do you want me to say? Intolerance festers across the Earth. It's depressing, it's bad, it's something that needs to be changed. Yet, I can't empathize with you or Gavin when you start bringing up Jay Leno, Letterman or the Da Vinchi Code, lol. This post was inspired by some idiot from an internet game, wasn't it? Comedians, a fiction book and some ignorant fool ranting? Is that.. it? Is that all? Intolerance can take many forms but the above don't strike me as being monstrous, evil examples of it. Why do I think Mormonism is an easy target? It's entire existence is a series of events that most people would find laughable. Why? It seems like a poorly conceived fairy tale to them, something funny and amusing but not much else. You have to deal with being a minority considered a joke. If it becomes more popular to make fun of Mormons? Well.. deal with it.
-
Erm, no it's not.
Then you have a pretty poor sense of humor.
I mean Christ is one third of the Holy Trinity so somehow claiming that he was a fraud should offend all Christians.
It shouldn't, really. I find it pitiable that what you consider the 'right' response is little more than a denomination-wide tantrum. I don't recall Jesus as that kind of person. I remember reading of his strength, his wit, his wisdom in the face of persecution. Many centuries later it seems all his self-proclaimed followers can do is ***** and moan.
However I still feel that religious people have a right to become offended when someone offends them, just as any one else has the right when they're insulted.
I doubt anyone disagrees with this. However the sensitivity of the church or it's church goers is often pretty high. How easily offended are you, Gavin? Or, more importantly to the topic, how easily offended is the Church?
(which leaves the question why do Jehova's Witnesses still recruit more followers when that amount has been full for a long time now).
It's pretty simple. Any Jehovah's (:p) Witness would have been able to answer that question for you.. and then they would promptly spin into a rant that involved giving you some literature. For the 144,000 they are granted the responsibility and position of being co-rulers of Earth with Jesus after Armageddon. For those not of the 144,000 they get to take care of Earth with the goal of keeping it paradisiac and perfect. Sickness will be no more, disease will be no more, war will be no more and they will live "forever". That's a pretty cut and dry, simplified version of the doctrine but it should give you some answers.

I have a really good friend who is eight or so years my senior. I've known him since I was a pretty young kid. I'm not sure how young I was at the time but he was into his teenage years. He had a pretty bad acne problem- it covered the majority of his face. I had absolutely no clue about acne or puberty or any of that jazz yet so, to his face, I asked "Did you fall in an ant pile or something?" Oh snap. I think that's pretty funny now but, man, that must have really made him feel like ****.
