1. Not sure if it's considered a dish/course or not but I would have said alcohol, lol. Alcoholic beverages have been made by humans since the dawn of our very first civilizations and even before that, into pre-historic times. It provided needed nutrients and calories beyond being just a thirst quencher or social lubricant. Next time you have some fish, have a beer with it. Consider it a compromise. :P
 2.
I know it's a hard thing to stop, but generally, I don't see much of an effort to stop it.[/color']
If given the authority, what actions would you take to 'stop it'? Question can be answered by anyone interested in doing so, my curiosity was just piqued.
 3.
Liek omg. Ur so prettyful. ^^;;
Aleia, you are totally fired.
zomfgiamanegro?!?!11
The true identity of my greatest foe is revealed!! Shock!
 4. "Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature such as self preservation?" - 1952 internal CIA memo. Project MKULTRA was a broad CIA program that began in response to reports that POWs within Korea were becoming unwilling experiments in mind control. The CIA, inspired by this, sought to develop the same capabilities and sought to create some kind of truth serum or mind control device to aid interrogation or international espionage. MKULTRA spawned out of this first program which was codenamed Project BLUEBIRD. MKULTRA was more sinister and larger than it's parent project- MKULTRA was more of an umbrella name for 150 or so subprojects all dealing with mind control methods. The method they used at the time they called narco hypnosis- they blended LSD and other psycho-active drugs with psychological or hypnotic methods to literally and simply tinker with the victim's brain, trying to get them to 'snap' enough that they would answer any question or follow orders willingly. Some people were simply fed LSD for two months straight, some were locked in sensory deprivation chambers while on LSD. The head of the project, Dr. Sidney Gottlieb, started using LSD heavily himself and took extensive notation of his reactions to it. Eventually experimentation began to take place on unwilling and completely unknowing people of the general population- normal US citizens who had no idea they were being experimented on. Eventually in the early 1970's a revelation came about and that's.. pretty boring. Unfortunately a couple of years prior to the revelation, almost every document pertaining to MKULTRA was destroyed on the orders of then-director Richard Helms. Most of what we know about MKULTRA comes from misfiles and foreign sources. The scope of the illegality, beyond what I've said above (which is just a glimpse of some of the things that were done) cannot be known. As to the success of mind control and all that the official CIA statement is that nothing much successful came of it. Since most of the records are destroyed there's no way to confirm that. Statements to reporters by former higher ups in the CIA say otherwise and state that, even as the revelation to the American public happened, narco hypnosis had run dry and that the CIA was turning to psycho electronics (a stupid sounding term if I say so myself- basically they turned from chemically induced methods to electronic ones, e.g.: electromagnetic waves, implants, etc.) to achieve it's goal. Anything regarding those programs is completely locked down and classified. The latter part about psycho electronics is heavily implied from documentation released during MK ULTRA's revelation but not provable so you can ignore that if you want. Everything about MK ULTRA is 100 percent proven but probably just the tip of the iceberg. The extent of the illegal, sadistic things that were done can never be known. Sources for this: Aside from obvious links to wikipedia information at this website is interesting. There are several books written on it (all good reads) and a website with declassified documents on it.
 5.
Time doesn't heal cancer or AIDS.
Swing and a miss. A+ for effort. There's alot of ways people will tell you to deal with someone you know dying. For me, just giving myself a little time to grieve was good enough. Try to move on and you eventually will be able to. My personal experiences with deaths all include an experience at their funeral. They can be pretty boring if it's someone you didn't know that well- you're mainly there to pay respect, not weep and moan and holler. But if it's someone you really loved, someone you really cared for sitting in the casket motionless then it's much more memorable and a bit surreal.
 6.
You all were so much sexier in my mind.[/color']
Oh? In your mind? Do you daydream about us often? I'm touched.
 7. My avatar is of Coco Yagami one of the primary characters from the visual novel Ever17 which was a pretty awesome game with a superb story. She is pretty cute so that's how she became my avatar- no deep meanings there. My signature's banner is from a photograph taken in 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad. Stalingrad is one of the most important battles of the last century to me and I found the picture to be, historical connotations aside, rather poignant considering the wasteland and destruction behind the soldiers. The quotation is part of Puck's ending speech to the audience during A Midsummer Night's Dream. The link changes pretty regularly and right now points to a favorite song and music video of mine. It ends with some Legionnaire's related stuff and a link to myo.
 8. My main 'look' is termed: casual bored. I don't really mess with my hair or spend too much thought deciding what to wear for the day unless I'm going to some kind of formal/special social event (job interview, date, etc.). I don't think you're vain, lol. There are plenty of people who are more narcissistic about themselves. Showing off a haircut is pretty low on my "You might have an ego" scale. I took some pictures with my two year old webcam just now. Pardon the quality. Last one is pretty large, lol. Was taken like a month ago with a much better camera than my webcam.
 9.
I'm starting to think that nobody here really knows anything about what they're talking about, especially those in the pretend philosophers club.
That's pretty much what OB is all about! Pretend philosophers and pretend scientists calling out other pretend philosophers and pretend scientists on their pretend theories, hypothesis and opinions in a constant struggle for pretend dominance or pretend glory. And you happen to be part of this show, Padre Smurf. Great, eh? Still, I agree with you the most in this thread. Fasterisk' and the others opinions are fun to read but not really going anywhere logical or realistic, lol. The deaf woman story was a nice touch though.
 10.
Oh I'm sure when men see women with curves the first thing that comes to their minds is childbearing. :animeswea
No, not to their minds. To their primal subconscious [you have one, for reals]. First thing that comes to their minds is probably something like: ":animenose"
Indeed. Too many people are all obsessed about how they look or about how other people perceive them.
Difference between basic hygiene/a reasonable appearance and looking/smelling like a homeless person. So, no. It's not a shame. It's a shame there are people on either extreme: people like you and people who primp themselves up, becoming far too concerned with their own appearance and other's.
 11. That guy was awesome. He had a good heart even if he was a little hyperactive and eccentric. Wanted to help the environment out too which is always awesome. I feel bad for Terri and his son, I hope they get over this alright. RIP.
 12.
... it made me very, very sad.
*starts up some group therapy* So.. tell me you guys, how are you feeling? OB is back, I know, but I know we all went through some tough times the last twenty four hours. Just.. don't hold back, let it out. Let the healing begin.
 13.
I would just like everyone to know that John either called the wrong school, or he is lying about calling in the first place.
Super Otaku Force... assemble!
I would also like to point out that I am clever enough to cover my tracks, otherwise I would never have made this thread.
But not clever enough to discern that this entire topic is a very stupid and pointless exercise. And, from what Retri said you're not very clever in covering your tracks either.
I never said that I was going to keep the phone. My full intent was to be charitable about the whole thing anyway, but only to those who deserve it.
No it wasn't, lol. The implication was obvious- you were trying to crack the phone and make it yours. You even justified your actions by saying the true owner is someone who has it coming to him. It's too late to try to convince us that you're being charitable with it.
And lastly, I would like to say that John, you are so screwed. Rats are at the bottom of the chain in my book, but definitely at the top of my black list. You are ******d.
Where are bumbling, clueless theives on these lists?
 14.
Most of the reason I took the time to do all that was because it was entertaining.
That was my point, yes. :p It entertained me.
 15.
Pretty much, that's karma coming back to bite you in the arse, DaSilva.
It's not karma when people who can't mind their own business forcefully get themselves involved. Or is it? Maybe it is. Still what John did is pretty amusing. DaSilva, you're pretty dull in the head to have come here and started a topic like this. That's what is biting you in the *** right now- your lack of forethought that, hey, maybe I shouldn't start a conversation about the phone I stole with dozens of people. Duh.
But that's awesome.
Totally awesome, dude. We could start our own OtakuBoards task force just wtfpwning crime. I nominate John for Captain. Call ourselves the Super Otaku Force.
 16.
Indeed, but it doesn't mean it's any more of a disaster than any of the other natural disasters that happen elsewhere in the world, and I don't see why it deserves a special moment.
No it's not about being any more of a disaster. It's about you lessening it in comparison to other disasters faced by people across the globe. 80 percent of a major port city was flooded. Hundreds of miles of constant devastation and destruction. Hundreds dead and an ineffective response by what is constantly referred to as the 'sole superpower' on the planet. It was important, more than for the just the suffering, damaged property and otherwise. It also showed how horribly inefficient and bumbling America's bureaucracy can be in times of dire need, when it's own citizens are trapped and need help. If you don't want to agree with me, don't. It's obvious that one year later the victims are still struggling and that the ramifications from it are being felt in the Gulf Coast region while the political fallout from it is still going on at a national level. People have lost trust in the government across America, trust that they are well protected against these kinds of disaster. I'd say that after considering all of the above it's somewhat noteworthy. Wouldn't you agree?
 17. Alright. All of you are accepted. We will get underway within a few days. Thank you for your interest in this and I hope we put on a good show.
 18.
Not at all. All I'm saying is that, as far as hurricanes go, Katrina/Rita was nothing special, and I don't see why there needs to be a special memorial for it whereas worse Hurricanes in South America or Indonesia only get a passing "In Other News" report on Faux News.
There needs to be a special moment for it because it was a large-scale natural disaster that destroyed a huge portion of the Gulf Coast and killed almost two thousand people. The cost in property makes it the costliest hurricane that has formed in the Atlantic thus far. The suffering involved does not lessen with airtime and should not be ignored for being looped on the major news networks. A well publicized disaster is still a disaster.
 19.
... and think about why I'm saying what I'm saying.
It's hard to garner much care for what you're saying when I find 'heads responses to be harmless. Unnecessary as his rambling and carrying on is, his posts are an amusing read.
 20.
...where bigger hurricanes kill more people and do more damage all the time during Hurricane Season.
So your reasoning is that the amount of misery is what matters and not the fact that there is misery in the first place?
 21.
KreeeeeeeePOW.[/color']
That's not really the onomatopoeia I would have used. More like crrrrreeaaakkkkkk..FWWSSH.
I'll never understand what's so complicated about it at all.
That which is not witnessed to exist but presumed to exist either A.) Like, DUH, totally still exists or B.) Man, it just might not exist as there is no one to witness it's existence and presumptions based on science are a LITTLE TOO LOGICAL FOR ME, bruh. Dude, God is totally going to have an opinion on this subject.
 22. Anastasia Tomorrow's sun comes A thousand little tears rind open It can help you feel If you want to feel Close your eyes with mine slowly I will save you dear Come fly with me there Our place amongst the nightmares We can die as one When the sun comes anew They will all be very surprised When we rise again Like the phoenix bird Fire shining radiantly Let us fly as one. -K.

 24.
Also, BlueEyedAngle, what the ****? That was a ****ing dick move you little ****. Posting about us on your little PrussianBlue message board without even telling us because we'd so thoroughly refuted any and all points you've made since joining? Wow. I was being civil before but wow... What a **** prick.
No, you're the prick. Calm down and don't be a little twit about something so insignificant.
 25.
Is this the government you're talking about or the population in general? I understand and agree that there's been a negetive attitude towards outsiders, in Japan a very long time. However, I have associated myself with a few good folks in Japan over the internet and they seem somewhat distraught over the fact that the government has created this aura of hatred towards people who enter their country.
I'm not intimately familiar with it but I know that there are some places in Japan that have a strictly no-korean or no-foreigner policy as to who can come into their establishments or businesses so that implies that at least some portion of the general population is racist. Otherwise the general population is probably just unfamiliar with foreigners since they make up such a small portion of their population.
