You and I both know the question, even though it has technically[/i'] not been asked.
No, Adahn. For the last time I'm not going to tell you what I'm wearing right now.
Tut tut, I'm no martyr. Honestly, i don't know why i try.
? I just asked you to explain your point of view clearer. Something broader than a couple of sentences, lol. Similar to what Adahn did in the opening post, Drix's post(s) or Gavin's response to my post. Like, before you say you don't know why you try maybe you could try a bit more first?
So what do you think about this?[/size']
I think they will have to do much work to catch up to my nearly 4,000 posts. Ho ho ho~
If you pardon Death Knight's ad hominem arguments for a moment.
Uh oh, the all seeing eye of Drix has cast it's gaze upon me.
Also, @ Boo: I read it. It isn't an explanation.
Then perhaps you could explain in more depth why you state everything is everyone's fault. We could be misunderstanding or harping on you for false reasons. Just that one statement: EVERYTHING is EVERYONE'S fault doesn't tell the full story but it's loud enough to draw our attention.
To Boo: I'm not just using quotes and lines to sound cool. I honestly trust that opinion i stated and stand by it until you can somehow provide me significant evidence otherwise. Isn't that what a debate is all about? Not just calling me an idiot but actully backing it up?
You trust the opinion that the entire scope of humanity is at fault for opinions held by parts of itself? Seriously?
-
why not?
Because the stupidity of that statement invalidates it. That's just how it goes I'm afraid.
And why are such brief, offtopic posts allowed so often? Mine included.
Funnily enough it's because God hates you.
Anyway, I have to say something that I always wanted to say... why do people have to go around and diss the Christians, huh?[/SIZE']
I'm not! I tolerate Christians all the time, I am the most tolerant person on Earth. I have so many Christian friends and they are really great people. I can't say I really like that they are Christian.. I mean, it goes against what I believe in so I pray for them. But I'm definitely not intolerant of their choices! I just wish they weren't what they are, but that doesn't mean I shun them or anything. Love and forgiveness right? I forgive you for being a Christian

The politics of a nation can be manhandled by the "majority" and I believe that even the majority can come to a wrong consensus as a collective and that they, unfortunately, often do. I do not hold anything against Roman Catholics or their demographic majority in Ireland but just because there are a bunch of people with one opinion doesn't make that opinion more valid once you step outside of the stupid Democratic "We're a huge group of people! That makes this decision a good one!" viewpoint. Grant them that freedom. If God cannot embrace as much liberty as man can then, well. The children have surpassed their father.

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2006 (Nominations Thread)
DeathKnight replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
What is it? Why is it nifty? When crime rears it's ugly head, when the world is threatened, when the very nations we live in face the gravest of times there is but one Team who will rise to the challenge and fight for what is right, good and lawful. The Super Otaku Force is not that team. However, it did play a big role in making sure that a cell phone thief did not go unpunished and made the world a better place. -
My Valentine this year is my girlfriend, surprise! I'm hoping to take her out to dinner, maybe buy her a little gift (I'm looking for a specific book that is out of print and annoyingly elusive), some flowers. Typical enough I guess, lol. BTW 2007DigitalDude, The13thHomie you guys need to switch up font colors or something. You guys are like evil twins.
Eh, what I am called and what I am are 2 very different things.
So you can be melodramatic and self-centered at once under this plan? I dig it.

"I love you, Walter..." Sarah said, turning her back to the man. "I.. love you too, you saucy sea wench! ARR!" Walter removed the smoking pipe from his mouth, and kissed her passionately on the lips. "Oh, what will ever become of us?" "We can make our life together, on the sea!"

"But there is a problem my love.." Walter said and returned to puffing on his pipe, the smoke clouding his face from her vision. "What dearest? What is it?" "I.. I am already married to Shy!" The audible gasp that followed pierced into the room and left a cold silent vacuum in it's place. ~-~ :D Anyway, yes I've humored myself. Carry on.

Band: Jesu Why?: I think it's a very serene and artistic image. A bit gloomy perhaps, but it's not as garish or egotistical as some of the Album artwork I see. It's message, if it has one, could be complex but the image they use is very poignantly simple if that is the case. The photography involved is very skillful.

Name: Dr. Turghun Almas. Age: Recently turned 30. Gender: Male. Nationality: Uyghur Muslim. Rank: Captain. Appearance: A worn face greets you as you look upon Dr. Almas. He looks to be in good shape from his physique and you gauge his height, comparing his to your own, and guess he must be at least 6'3". His black hair is tied back into a ponytail and his goatee is trimmed neatly into shape giving him a clean appearance. Yet, a scar goes down left cheek to his chin giving him a rougher edge. His eyes are colored azure and draw you in with their depth. You notice he's out of his uniform and wearing a typical outfit focusing on comfort and modesty more than any of the flashier attire the Europeans or Americans offer- a pair of slacks and a button up white shirt today. He still wears his combat boots and there are scuff marks on them from constant use. Personality: Dr. Almas is a soft spoken, lighthearted, hard working individual. He enjoys staying behind the scenes and letting others steal the spotlight, finding more satisfaction from real work than fame. He has a deep empathy, care and concern for others mental and physical wellbeing well suited for a Doctor and a mentor or friend. He acts as a mediator of sorts between his shipmates on the Crusade VII due to his timid and diplomatic nature. A bookworm, he houses a large library of paperback literature even as paper becomes an increasingly unpopular medium of distribution. He enjoys reading and socializing on his times off, often drinking moderately during either. He has served well in the military, showing confident leadership under fire and excelling in keeping other Knights and their pilots serviceable which has earned him the nickname 'Doc' among the team. As a Doc he is extremely skilled and enjoys his job greatly, finding healing the bodies and minds of man or machine a tiresome if rewarding work. Chosen ?Knight? module/description: Khan (Support). Constructed with rear battle support in mind the Khan is a modestly powerfully attack and defense craft on it's own until you begin comparing it to the combat-purpose Knights around it. Comparatively this Knight's damage output is significantly less, but more mobile as it's primary armament is mine deployment system on it's left shoulder that releases smart, potent anti-material mines [ammunition is rather plentiful as they are relatively small for the amount of 'umph' in them] built to explode entirely or directionally as needed. Their detonation systems and make up are known only to Doc and his superiors. Their fuel supply is significant enough that they can chase towards or deploy to any area directed by the systems on board the Khan. Opposite to the mine launcher is the Khan's utility arm, a technological wonder that is multi faceted and can open up to reveal a myriad of tools and instruments necessary for accurate, quick repairs either pinpoint or large scale to get any Knight back in working order be it problems mechanically, electronically or otherwise. Berserk mode: Horde - The Khan unleashes a torrent of nanobots into space, enough to cover a dozen or more Knights. These nanobots have a friendly detection system so that they do repairs on allies and shred into enemies. Indeed, the small robots can cause a lot of damage to internal systems within a minute chewing into wiring, electronics and eventually the pilot itself. Unfortunately they have a 'lifespan' that causes them to cease function within five to ten minutes. Special ability: Empathy- The Doc has an almost uncanny ability to read into people's motives, ambitions, emotions and almost anything else about them to a level bordering on mystifying. He is an expert negotiator, diplomat and orator. He seems aware of the situations between people, casual or political, well before others but, due to his quiet attitude, keeps most of his findings to himself unless asked. Weapons: The Doc uses a gas-operated vortex ring gun which produces a high-speed vortex ring. It can knock down a 170lb man from 25 meters away with great force, usually stunning or incapacitating the target from the blow. The rate of fire is about one shot every five seconds. The gun itself is the size of submachine gun so it isn't too unwieldy. Bio/Snippet: I was born to a pair of Uyghurs who are more boring than I can describe in words. My father was an Engineer on board Ark Asia, he handled the maintenance on the massive networks that interconnect.. everything. You can't take a dump on Ark Asia without the authorities knowing about how much water was used when you flushed, how much toilet paper you used, how long it took. Call it a remanent of the Autocrat days that preceded the Flight from Earth. It's a wonder crime manages to exist at all but with all those eyes they just seem to have become more blind to what lingers in the cracks of their vision. Anyway, my parents. My father was a competent enough engineer.. made enough money to start a family. Big plans, big plans he had for his family. So it began with me and.. it ended with me. He forgot one crucial thing- it takes two to tango. My mother was in the Navy and didn't really want any more kids to bother her Military Career. She's uh, something. Well I mean, she does something. She doesn't really tell me what she does for the Ark Asian military, I think it's classified. I don't need to know apparently. They were good enough parents, they treated me well. My mom was a bit of a twit sometimes but I can't really complain. My dad was mainly quietly loving- kind of detached, I guess the fourth gens are a bit dreary overall for some reason. Well, onto the main event: me. Ever since I was a child I wanted to be a doctor. It was because of that plague. The plague.. you know, the pandemic that washed across the world in the 3010s? Killed millions? Toppled a couple of governments? All that noise? When I studied that I was fascinated by every little piece of it, I wanted to understand and know it. Maybe try to cure it. Apparently that was different or off since, you know, plagues aren't really as interesting to my peers as they are to me even now so as a kid you can imagine I was very, very popular. Anyway, that coursework on the plague as a kid in school set me on the path to being a Doctor. There's plenty of ways to get medical training- Could enter the civvie field but the Navy yells at you the most to join up. Recruitment just isn't what it used to be. My mother, rest her soul, yelled at me to join the Navy and eventually I did. I trained well enough. The decided I had some skill at medicine and put me through some of the better courses they can offer to make me a Doctor-doctor. It was years of work, I graduated real early from secondary education at the age of 14 and it took me eight bloody years of tertiary education to get this Doctor title I haul around. It wasn't all that bad really. Other courses involved general military stuff- piloting [ships and Knights], leadership studies, military science, military history and otherwise. I was selected at 22 to be the Medical officer on the Crusade VII. I had plenty of credentials and officer training, so I was CaptainDoctorBoywonder of the etc.; etc. it was bland then and it's bland now. You think the thing isn't constructed now, it was worse looking years back. Injuries were either work accidents, military accidents or damn sabotage attacks. It was a real maelstrom of weird, serious and tragic injuries. The most medicine this ship hands out though then and now deals with birth control. Mandatory military thing. I wouldn't trust half these teenagers either if I were them. Can find them lurking in unfinished corridors even if you're damn well blindfolded. Increases morale real quick though, haha. Anyway, this lasted for about a year until they decided I needed more work to do and asked me to do some work for the VII Knights Team as well. That became my permanent job pretty quickly and I've been doing work as the Support Knight for the Team ever since, I moonlight sometimes as a consultant for the Medical staff on the Crusade VII when they have a tough case to crack. Who are my coworkers? They are everyone and anyone. Young prodigies, people more my age, anything in between. Heh, I even know a telekinetic. Ever seen something hover in front of your eyes and move across the room? It's a neat trick. They are a good bunch though and I keep their bodies and their machines running full steam. How else would they run amuck?
I give everyone the benefit of the doubt even if it is my own government. :p
That's good because the government gives you the benefit of the doubt back all the time. The mutual trust and respect between both parties is inspiring.
If you find me so obnoxious, there's an "ignore" button for a reason.
Alternatively there is the possibility I might have a point here, something to offer you about how you present your points of views and how it is perceived by the masses you are so addicted to dreaming aloud to. There is that chance ever so slight as it may be, lol.
I never said any of you were dim bulbs, by the way. You all are so beautiful, and have so much potential, even if it isn't same to every unique individual. SO go out there. Do what you can do. Change the world. I trust you, and I'm here in kindness anytime.
That's how it sounds at times when you declare yourself to be a dreamer as if no one else here really dreams at all about things comparatively. Some probably lack the desire to speak aloud about it, others might not have the linguistic capability to and who knows why else all of us aren't appearing as you do. There are many good people here like you said, many smart people and I believe them to hold much potential.
-
True punishment is living within the boundaries of your body and sitting in a cell mulling over what you've done.
Not to be argumentative but Saddam wasn't really repenting in earnest as a captive for any 'crimes' he was charged with committing. He was gardening, he was fed, a doctor was checking on him regularly, he smoked cigars. It was restrictive and wildly different from the life as an autocrat he was living but by no means was he 'suffering' emotionally or physically during incarceration for what he had done. And Mitch, enough man. You aren't a dreamer. You aren't a radical. You aren't a philosopher. You aren't the messiah. You are smart, you can write, you can think outside the box and all of that is admirable but you are far too preachy, far too addicted to perching yourself on a soapbox pretending to preach to the masses a vision that you are so, so sure that only you can see and yet in that you remain blind. You are very intelligent but all of us aren't dull, dim bulbs in comparison. Plus you can't sing like Lennon. :P

Let's Abolish Profanity in Adventure Square/Reform thread
I think that good roleplayers will always be good roleplayers. If a restriction is set, good roleplayers will be able to tell good stories without throwing around swear words constantly or fluffing up their writing with detailed sex scenes. If you look at most of the RPs in that area, these things could be removed and the stories would read better.
Granted. I just have the opinion that most of the current RPers that are extremely active aren't "good roleplayers" and that instituting this change won't do much to improve the quality of the actually stories themselves as the creators are as poor as their creations are. I don't enjoy needless sex or violence, I'm following you there. I just hold the current active userbase in the RP forums with little respect except for a few here and there no matter what kind of adult content they're throwing around.
Furthermore, I think that the rating system is really cumbersome. It's obvious by some of the replies in here that it's not clear and it's not really user-friendly. We're also relying on members' discretion which is obviously not such a hot idea judging by the rated M Yu-Gi-Oh RPGs we have. We also have people rating RPGs as "mature" because they're afraid [/I'] of getting moderated. The rating system is counterproductive; it intimidates some and results in a lot of hassle when threads have to be closed because of people who forget to include ratings. I don't think this is a desirable system based on these problems.
It is a cumbersome system and I know that I personally started putting M-SLV as a just in case measure so my entire RP doesn't get shut down due to the whim of one of my players wanting to **** someone else.
This reboot idea is something that Shy and I have been discussing for the past two days and it has matured into what it has--an area for games, stories and RPGs. I think that the overall tone should be simple, fun and inclusive instead of a bunch of needless profanity.
Don't presume that I don't like the idea. Anything that would even possibly improve that area I'd love to see tried out.
So, you can oversimplify anything and make it look dumb but if you look at the bigger picture here, it makes sense.
It does. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. -

So the theory is that the piss poor roleplayers we have making their shoddy little crudheaps full of unnecessary cursing/sexuality/violence will find the path to being good roleplayers by washing their mouth out with soap? Or am I not following this correctly. -
