1. Settlers of Catan is where it's at. I've played several games IRL and have found a neat java version of it that I play when there's no one IRL nerdy enough to play with me. I really enjoy the game although it is heavily influenced by the luck of dice rolls. I recommend people try it out, it's simple to understand and a great lot of fun.
 2.
Am I suddenly that stupid?
If that were the case you would be blessed. The reality is that you have been at that level of stupidity for a lengthy amount of time. I can only make assumptions off of your statements. If you want to appear smarter, word things more intelligently. Talk about obvious.
 3. Religions throughout the ages reflected the thoughts and concepts of the time. There is no Jehovah, no Odin, no Ahura Mazda without prophets, without people, without human imagination and thought. "Bettering ourselves" is vague at best, lol. Bettering yourself doing what? Learning? Learning academics? Learning the heart and soul of civilizations throughout time? The latter is comprised of many things often the largest of which was their religion of choice. Humanity has many attributes beyond science, beyond self indulgent betterment of itself. It has a soul, it has emotion and these emotions change how people believe. What they hope for, what their God looked like, who s/he killed, who she saved. What good would it do? Proving the existence of metaphysical creatures with omnipotent powers who may or may not have sired our race through evolution? Do I have to answer the effect that would have on people? On scientific theories, on religious thought. Who says that if God exists it is the Abrahamic God? What of the Dharmic religions? Of all the forgotten Gods laying in ruins across the globe that at one time were the heroes and villains of societies? You are such an average person DigitalBoy and try very hard on these boards to be some kind of artist, some kind of theologian or philosopher when you are nothing of the sort. Do you mean to? I don't know, it's just sounds so shallow. You have a fine mind but you are not a great thinker or even a mediocre one. Your posts reek of trying too hard, of attempting too much to come off as something you aren't. Tinged with pseudo intellectualism and yet you still let off the aura of a stereotypical, angry teenager who has very much left to learn before he can sit with the adults and speak without drawing laughter. Don't reply with "that's your opinion" or "who cares". As a matter of fact, don't reply to this at all. Spare me the burden of having to read a response written by you at all. Go do all your little cliches. Go debate for amusement, go hate humanity, go discredit religions, go hate opinionated people, go hate society. Make it into a ****ing coming of age story and sell it to Hollywood for all I care. Just expect once in awhile that someone will snap at you for being such an annoying little dog. Just don't talk about time wasted.
 4.
1. White People[/B']. Some of yall are okay, but as a whole, I just can't stand white people. Our race is a bastard. I mean seriously, while a lot of us here on OB belong to the cool part of white people, that's only a tiny fragment of white people as a whole, especially in the US. White people as a whole need to get their act together.
"Some of yall are okay, but as a whole"? Either you dislike all of us or come to the true and better realization that within any race and within our species as a whole there are good and bad apples. We could take this a step further and maybe attempt to have you come to a realization that races as a whole are becoming increasingly irrelevant. It is not as if they act as a coherant whole especially in multi cultural countries like the United States.
5. Opinionated people/people with strong beliefs[/B']. Oh god. If I have to get into another arguement over something as trivial as the existence of god, I might just smack somebody.
As trivial as the possible existence of a sentient, spiritual diety or set of dieties that may or may not have had a hand in creating all of existence as we know it? Are you trying to be funny or are you just absent minded and stupid?
9. Society[/B']. Everything about it. If I could remake it, it would be unlike anything we could see.
If you could remake it every pro from your point of view would have two or three cons, lol.
 5. I was fired at the very start of V6 if I remember right.
 6. Coolest song of this week is Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story by Jedi Mind Tricks. The song is divided into two parts. The first verse is the told from the point of view of a soldier fighting in Saigon and starts to doubt the point of the war after watching atrocities taking place. The second verse is supposedly a true story about the rapper's father. It's his story in Vietnam and has no happy ending.
 7.
But I mean, I didn't expect anyone to remember me, let alone all my RPGs, my history as a mod, haha.
You're like classic OtakuBoardia goodness Connor. No one could forget you. Good to see you man.
 8. Hey guys I'm just here to tell you Dead killed me and not to suspect him, alright? Later.
 9.
It is amazing. Just because we don't have some Manifest Destiny-esque desire to put our finger into everybody else's pie (like a certain country I could name, but won't) doesn't make that any less true. Canada is a virtual paradise - try and live here before you talk ****.
Canada does not have the capability to have "Manifest-Destiny' esque desires as Russia, China or the United States do. Your statements are very holier-than-thou but do not confuse your lack of meddling in the international arena with the capability to do so. It is not as if you hold immense power and in a gesture of generosity, goodwill and peace you do not wield it aggressively. I would imagine, as happens with any country that gains such power, you would find the actions of your country slipping into what America is doing in the Mideast or what China is doing in Africa.
Yea. You're right. We should totally, like, pick up our guns and go and, oh, I don't know, invade some poor country. Maybe piss off a few religionuts and disregard the UN, act like a bunch of teenage kids with firecrackers, that'd make us cool, right? No one will mess with us because we don't give them any reason too, genius. I can't see any problem with that.
Again, do you have the capability to do any of these sarcastic suggestions? lol. No, no you do not. If given the power and influence of the countries listed above the actions of Canada would fall into the vein of what all borderline superpowers or superpowers do. The international actions of Canada are influenced by what she can do with what is provided her.
Er? You really don't understand anything about politics or warfare, do you?
Do you?
 10.
Ooh sly shot there Ken, though you would have a point were it not for the fact that up until about two years ago I had a family of very nice JWs living only a mile or two away, became quite friendly with them and actually took the time to discuss the differences between our respective religions.
Fantastic, but tolerating most of a person's religious practices doesn't mean you round up last I checked lol. Granted it doesn't mean you round down either.
Where is the tolerance there ?
Do you attach persistence or a steadfast attitude with intolerance? I can't say that it absolutely isn't intolerance or absolutely is, it all depends on the person we are talking about and their actions. From what you say I'd say their persistence was passionate but not touched with negative intentions.
 11. I agree with Gavin as I have an expierence with people not tolerating religious beliefs and practices. I was a Jehovah's Witness until I was fourteen and dealt with a great lot of ignorant persecution and intolerance. Usually what JW's do is incorrectly perceived as strange or extremely preachy without much tolerance or acceptance of their beliefs and what they do. It's difficult to overcome the fact that for a few minutes out of your morning someone would dare speak to you about their religious faith and come back several times in an attempt to reach you and, from their point of view, save your soul. Such devotion to their religion, such a sacrifice of their own time as to go out door to door spreading how they feel about God is hard to realize and respect. Researching them takes time but there are many works taking a critical look at their practices and beliefs so that you can avoid coming off as ignorant or intolerable. Not all is rosey and sweet about the faith, and there are plenty of points you can disagree on as to their dogma or actions but tolerance does not always equate to agreement of opinions. However, it's good to know there is someone else on this board who is tolerant and respectful of religion. Kudos.
 12. I'm not too big of a fan of people are are so dedicated to a musical genre they forget that music existed before metal/rap/pop/country/otherwise and that a single genre is not automatically superior to all others. I also don't like Scandinavian Metal. Fans of this genre seems to forget certain things like heaviness is not equated to quality. Neither are guitar solos in these brand of metal particularly stunning or awe inducing. There are good songs within this genre but the fans ruin any enjoyment I could take away from them. Pre-teens and young teenagers who live in middle class suburbia attempting to convince me they can identify with popular songs dealing with such diverse situations as: hos, pimped out cars, drug dealing, living in the ghetto, sexing it up 24/7. Bad movies people flock to see. Going to rottentomatoes.com and seeing the box office list can really depress me. Don't make them money! That movie sucked! Go see 300, that's at least fun in a mediocre way! I really dislike people who walk into conversations and start to pick apart everything else other people are saying. It's like they just don't have any manners or something. They just walk up and are like "blablabla" and I'm like "Blablabla!" and it just goes downhill from there dudes.
(I'm probably gonna get lynched for this one but...) I hate Americans. Or at least the vision the media provides of them. Especially pig-headed 'God's Gift' type people. For all the Americans who aren't like that, you have my sympathy. Of course saying that, the way Blair's going the British aren't looking too hot either. ¬_¬"
"All the Americans who aren't like that" is a majority of the population and, no, we don't really care for sympathy when there isn't much wrong with us as people.
I mean helloooo.
I mean, helllooooo, oversimplification of complex socio-politics. Helllllloooo.
To further add to what I said earlier, I really hate the way that Americans butcher our words. Aluminium. Say it with me now people: Al-u-min-i-um! Aluminium! Gah! It makes my blood run cold when I hear an American say it. *Shivers at the thought*
I really hate the way British people butcher American english. I mean, I understand that there are regional dialects of languages and all that noise but, seriously, Britain isn't that far away from America. Lazy.
 13. Yeah I mean.. you should have thought that through a bit. What were you going to say when you turned them in? "Here's some evidence we broke the law, see ya."
 14. I suppose the melodramatic anger I'm seeing here is because Recca made an attack on a group of people naively without recognizing there being a larger story behind the situation that exists. I'd like to imagine the prior statement stirs an epiphany in select posters in this thread and I don't need to say more. :p Hanabishi Recca, I don't really understand your situation fully but I hope you work it out. Like others I disagree with your generalizations about overweight people. Granted, gluttony can be a cause of obesity but there are other issues that can be at work. My father, for example, takes an anticonvulsant medication that causes weight gain. So, just take into consideration the causes of obesity can vary. Personally I'd make it a goal to spit on landmarks more than people because that sounds cooler to me. Spit on the Empire State Building, Sears Tower, Golden Gate Bridge, Brandenburg Gate, Hagia Sophia, Angkor Wat, Taj Mahal, Saint Basil's Cathedral, Taipei 101 and many more I can't think of, lol. For the purposes of this thread we'll say I end up spitting on tourists across the world.
 15. Yeah, where do you think your character is during all of this? You can have her doing whatever you wish. You're a good RPer as are everyone who joined so you guys will have no problem following the overarching plot, heh. So just whatever you want.
 16. Hello, welcome to the underground post for The Great Tribulation. Ask any questions you've got here or make changes to your character if you'd like. I'll be posting information here about the RP some of it more important than the rest, lol. Critical Information General setting- The setting of this RP is an alternate Earth set in the Renaissance. The technology of the era will readily present itself within the RP. I intend to have it have overtones of clockpunk. Current chapter - Sedition The flames of revolution have erupted across the refugee camp. The "Maggiore" has overthrown the Doge and installed himself as leader of the Milano refugees. With the backing of the civilian population Army posts across the camp have been attacked by well armed, motivated militia men who fight with hellish devotion to the glimmer of hope the Maggiore offers- a surprise attack on a German border post. The coup is complete and the Maggiore is preparing to move the refugees north towards Ticino [modern day southern Switzerland]... Optional Information Countries: Italian Empire- The unified states of Italia have been ruled by a Doge for two hundred years. Backed by the German Federation, the Most Serene Republic of Venice had unified the various city states of Italy into one contingent Empire. These ties to Germania have remained strong up until the Scourge's arrival. This Germania-Italia alliance has two main foes- the French and the Muslims. Wars have been fought with each numerous times. Venice's strong roots in trade remained in the political structure of Italy. It was gifted with one of the most impressive fleets to sail the Mediterranean Sea. Connected even to the Kievan Principality in the Black Sea, there were few places that Italia could not sail to. Recently an explorer from Genoa had returned from places in the far West that had great promise for exploration. Unfortunately the Scourge's arrival left much of the Navy's splendor upon the ocean's bottom and it's glory seems firmly rooted in the past. It's army is technologically mediocre but makes up for this with a strong focus on the training quality of it's troops more than it's arms. The tactics, morale and the command structure of the Italian Army were considered outstanding if not revolutionary. It has fought in intense wars with the Caliphate demons of the East a number of times to a standstill, even outnumbered by their hordes. Currently the Empire has all but ceased to exist.

Pieces of tile fell from the roof and shattered below. Fedele held his ears tightly as he leaned against the wall. The tremors almost knocked him off his feet. Plumes of smoke poured out from the windows swallowing him whole. Within the world of gray Fedele coughed and hacked, stumbling out of the cloud. He waved his arms in front of him trying to make the smoke disperse. That had been a bit larger of an explosion than he wanted. He blinked several times trying to calm his stinging eyes. "Fedele!" Fedele glanced up to the voice. A large group of men jogged towards him from a nearby burning tower. It was a motley group of civilians- bakers, merchants, a few farmers. The one who had addressed him had a broad smile across his face. "How was it?" Fedele called out. "Easy. The cowards folded almost immediately. These weapons we borrowed from the Armory are being wasted in their hands." The burly man said. Various heads from the crowd behind him nodded in agreement. "The coup is a resounding success." Fedele looked across the landscape of the refugee camp. Most of the army's buildings he could see were being consumed by flames. "We'll be moving out to attack the border post into Ticino." The man said. "The Maggiore will have the civilians.. well, the ones who aren't fighting.. follow. It should be a days walk to Ticino." "Alright. Where is our rendezvous going to be?" "The former Doge's magnificent tent." He said mockingly. "It's opulence should have some comforts of home, perhaps we're lucky." "Alright I'll see you there." The man nodded and took off through the maze of tents towards the center of the camp. Fedele rubbed his forehead trying to rid himself of a dull pain. "Ugh. What is to become of us?"
 18. Alright we'll start this with us four. I've had worse lol. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to a good rp.
 19. Our variety of English is pretty awesome. In conclusion, gtfo.

Both are by Dead Can Dance and are very beautiful songs. I'd recommend to any who enjoy these songs to pick up some music from Dead Can Dance.. all of their songs are good.
 21. First of all, did you have unprotected sex or did a condom break? Or did some other bad luck hit you? If you had unprotected sex then, uh, I mean this is why everyone tells you not to. Even with condoms there is a slim chance that you can get a girl pregnant with improper use, you know? If she is then is she going to get an abortion? Adoption? Since you are 17 I presume she is young too so I doubt that you guys could support a child. Your parents will weigh in on this as well. You have a few options so you'll have to make a decision, one that will probably be influenced heavily by your parents. If she isn't then if you have sex again do so safely. I don't know if NIKI is naive or religious (maybe both) but if you make the choice to have sex then you make that choice, I don't have any reason to say it's "wrong" but there are risks involved with unprotected sex. With protection those risks are dramatically lessened. Breaking it to your parents.. I have no idea. If you have an open, honest relationship with your parents then I guess just be honest. I don't know your situation with them. It will be difficult no matter what though. I'd say in general that teen pregnancy is usually a negative thing but there are, of course, exceptions to that.
 22. lol. 156 views and two sign ups. I don't bite. ~-~ Name: Fedele Luzio Gender: Male Age: 29. Appearance: Fedele is a tall, sturdy man with a messed clump of black hair atop his head and the purest of blue eyes. He has a rough appearance having a naturally mean looking face and a protruding chin. His face is riddled with pockmarks and seems permanently stained with a dirt. The uniform he once wore was long since abandoned the only item from it he still wears being his protective goggles. Wrapped in a brown cloak, his underlying clothes are tattered civilian affairs that are light and offer little protection from the elements. He still carries his musket on his shoulder and spare cartridges rest in a bag hanging from around his hip. Profession: Fedele was an Imperial Soldier stationed Sicily along the southern coast of the isle. A strong and competent fighter, he was pursuing his martial career admirably. Skills: Fedele is trained to use swords and muskets with ruthless efficency. Prior to the Scourge the concept of a routing unit of the Italian Empire was unthinkable and his courage was more concrete than most though it has been recovering since escaping Sicily. He is extremely adept at organization and execution of plans although not of actually leading. Snippet: The March into the Sea Palermo, Sicily "Heave!" With a great collective tug the last full net of cargo was lifted into the carrack's hold. Lightning flashed overhead as the storm pounded the port with wind and rain. The moored ships rocked heavily to and fro with each surge of the ocean. I raised my hand to shield my eyes from the rain and peered out into the sea at the ships that had launched already. It was such a pitiable group of ships. Warships floated right next to fishing vessels or small trading ships. There was no hint of the glory of the Italian Navy. It had been replaced by this odd collection of whatever we had within Palermo. Their lanterns glowed hazily through the blanket of rain like ghosts in the night. Their haunting glimmer should have been the hope of escape for all of us but to me those yellow specters sent a chill down my spine. "Lazio! On deck!" I ran up the ramp watching my footing so as not to slip down to a watery grave. As my foot left the ramp and hit the deck the soldiers around me quickly hauled it on board behind me. The chaos aboard the ship left me momentarily dazed as it seemed to border on panic. Soldiers and seamen were scurrying everywhere around me across the deck. Their desperate anxiety was infectious and I felt my heart start to beat faster just watching them. With a lurching motion the ship began to drift and I realized I should move to position. I cautiously jogged to a spot along the ship's railing and brought my musket to the ready. "Musket men to defensive positions! All unnecessary personnel below deck! Brace for rough seas and stay alert!" The smoldering city of Palermo was letting out it's last, weak gasps of breath. The great walls that had impressed many for centuries had no garrison. Our remaining troops stood at the entrances of the port keeping the masses of refugees out as the Empire of Italy's best troops fled out to sea. 'It is impossible' it was said 'to save them'. So here I stand, saving myself like the others. I cannot remember when it was that I stopped paying attention to every tenet of the Oath I swore to the Doge- to protect the civilians more than myself, to fight with courage, to defend every parcel of land with drops of my own blood. Being cut off from Calabria was the final knife to our morale as a group but I still had believed at the time. "So when was it," I asked myself, "that I lost faith?" I heard yelling and a stampede of civilians came from one of the port entrances. Swarming the sporadic guards they desperately mobbed towards the ships that were still loading cargo. I watched a musket man lower his gun and squeeze the trigger. A young man at the front of the crowd dropped causing several of the people behind him to trip over his body. Ignoring them, the crowds behind crushed them underfoot and sent one of them tumbling into the stormy sea. He was alive.. I could hear him scream. Shots erupted from all across the dock. Dead bodies were either crushed under foot or shoved off into the sea. Some musket men then drew their swords. Others rushed onto their ships as the crews cast off and abandoned their remaining cargo. The ones who stood their ground bitterly fought and killed before inevitably being overrun. Their swords were stolen and the few unlucky ships remaining were stormed by the thousands of civilians still pouring into the port. More gunfire erupted as each ship desperately defended itself with little hope of survival. As we got farther away from the panic and bloodshed I held my head within my free hand trying to clear my mind. Another set of screams came from the direction of Palermo accompanied by the sound of earth crashing. I looked and there in the center of Palermo dozens of black shadow legs had shot out from within the Earth and rested upon the town. Raising itself up the legs connected to a huge bulbous mass that writhed and dripped a black ooze wherever it stood. It seemed to be taller than a mountain and stood over the city ominously like a spider. The docks had fallen quit for a moment but a primal, animalistic surge of panic roared to life within them. Shoving, pushing, murdering in desperation. Shooting out from the bulb came hundreds of arms at great speed. They struck with immense power into dozens of buildings. They recoiled back into the bulb almost instantly before shooting out again. The pace of the destruction was frantic and within half a minute of these the center of Palermo was simply piles of rubble. The spider lurched forward and slammed itself into the ground, it's black mass rolling across the rest of the town like an avalanche. It spilled down into the port and the piers, swallowing them whole. The last image I saw of Palermo was of the darkness. It retreated backwards and left upon the docks were endless piles of bones. The ships were left as floating wreckage. The darkness rose up and reformed into it's former shape. Upon the bulb an eye opened and stared at us, the last ship to escape it's grasp. It stared and it watched and I believe it narrowed angrily but I could not be sure since we were so far away by then. It watched us and I watched it until we could see each other no more. I shut my eyes. I could feel still feel it's gaze. I do not think that feeling will ever leave me.
 23.
Now that would truly awesome to have a katana in one hand and an AK-47 in the other.[/FONT']
Equally awesome is the fact both of those weapons require two hands to use well. Granted perhaps in this situation you, for some reason, have learned a one handed katana style that inexplicably involves using an assault rifle in the other hand and have some kind of inhumanly strong right arm to hold up the AK-47, steadily aim and fire it (without worrying about recoil) with one hand. In my next post I'll address the issues with: *Setting off atomic bombs near yourself *Imploding the entire known universe to win one fight *And offer some practical advice for starting fights with lawn gnomes or other random objects. And I guess my fantasy w.o.c. would be a bo staff. Beating people with sticks I can do already but I need to apply a bit of style to it for it to be cool.
 24.
Just another thing that happens.[/FONT']
How common or widespread a tragedy is does not make it any less tragic lol. "Oh, well, humans all die anyway" does not ease emotional suffering from the bereaved, those that valued them as important parts of their lives. The eventual breakdown of a human body brought on by accidents, time or otherwise is inevitable for all of us but there is more to death than just the body dying. A person is lost. An existence that was as vibrant as you are ceases to be, an existence that was loved by others. You don't have to remorse the myriads of other people dying or suffering across the planet though there's nothing wrong with trying to. A bit of an emotional reaction to an acquaintance or friend having someone close to them die is appropriate.
 25. Yes, it would probably be interesting if trimmed down into a more flowing song or poetic form. I like that idea. Originally this was just a rant more or less I wrote for a blog but I enjoyed what I said enough that I thought it was worth saying in other places, lol.
