Asiaphilia, or Count to Ten Before You Post, Please.

I'm not Asian at all, and I agree with it. Not necessarily with people on Otaku but with a lot of people I know. That quote said a lot of what I feel. =] -

What year did you graduate from High School? I have not yet graduated but plan to in 2008. Yay Juniors!
What "clique" did you belong to? Band. Nerd. Hands down. I'm kind of friends with the outcasts... not emo or anything but just the weird kids. We all love each other a lot, and though we are not in the "popular" group, we are fine with that... but it's not like we wear our jeans up to our boobs and above our ankles or anything... we're not nerdy. Just weird. =]
Do you still remember your friends, do you still keep in touch? I suppose I'm not applicable yet.
What state/province/country did you graduate from? The Midwest.
Do you remember your high school enemy? I honestly don't really have one. However, the closest I do have to an enemy is the staff of our School Newspaper. It's incredibly liberal, unbalanced, & factually incorrect. I'm about to write in a complaint about it. :nope:
My room isn't painted at all. It's pure white, but the walls are so cluttered you can hardly tell! There are glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling as well as a "little red dot" so that when I look up I think of my best friend [[good memories with a little red dot on the ceiling in Gym class... :D ]]. It's also pretty big but very crowded. But that's just the way I like it! :D

Let's talk about sex (Mature please)
pooperson replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
They taught me almost nothing in school. I saw pictures of STD's [ew...] & I learned that abstinence is good. Most of what I've learned I have figured out from friends or the... *eyeroll*... internet. Therefore, I don't know that much. Slightly pathetic. But I choose virginity until I'm married [YAY ABSTINENCE!!!!!!!], & to me, that's what matters. -
Here's some questions: 1. Are you a band geek? 2. Do you play an instrument or instruments? 3. If so, what instrument or instruments do you play? 4. Do you play in your school band? 5. do you have your own band?
AAAAAH! I FREAKED OUT WHEN I SAW THIS FORUM!!!!!!! I've been thinking about posting this for some time... 1. YES YES YES YES YES. Although I prefer the term band nerd. 2. Yes. 3. Trumpet [[my main]], tenor saxophone [[my second]], piano, a little trombone [[teaching myself]], a *tiny* bit of clarinet, & I want to learn the flute. 4. Yes. I'm in... ... concert band ... jazz band .. .pep band ... trumpet choir ... brass choir ... pit orchestra ... MARCHING BAND 5. I wish. In my school, I have hit the ultimate Band-Nerd-dom. I actually just got home from marching band when I read this. =]

I was on the phone with my mom a minute ago when I lost the Game. So I [[obviously]] said, "Dangit! I lost the Game!" ... "What game?" So I explained it to her. She -- like me -- hates the Game, too now. But that's all the fun in it!

Mystery of the living characters!
pooperson replied to YoukaiAlchemist's topic in General Discussion
Lately, I have heard of writers, one of whom is a close friend of mine, who see characters they write about actually alive in our world. Normally the characters are there only for a moment. Sometimes they actually say something (according to the guy that wrote Hellblazers, Jon Constantine actually told him that "The secret to magic is, Any ***** can do it.") of course the conversation could be made up. Regardless, I want to know what you all think. O.o What is causing these writers to see thier characters living and breathing in our world?
Possibly an overactive imagination. Dreams. Possession. Visions. Or perhaps insanity? Are you familiar with the term "psychosomatic"? That means thinking something, believing it, and thus making it happen. For example -- you don't want to go to school. Therefore, you make yourself sick by thinking about it, worrying, believing it, etc... until you finally become sick. Your friend could be actually thinking these characters are alive, believing it, "knowing" it, until he "sees"/"hears" one, when really, it is all mental. Just a thought. -
The Game is driving me mad. I swear, I might just shoot myself. But it as pretty facinating to see how often random things like that cross your mind. Well, not so much facinating as mind-numbingly annoying.
Yes, yes... that's how I felt when I first started playing the Game well over a year ago... I won for several months. But I was at work today, and, while filling up a balloon, I lost the Game. No one was in the store, my coworker was out to lunch, & my manager was in the back. So picture this: Noon. Tired taperson. Bright pink shirt. Orange balloon. Ugly Ribbon. "Crap. I just lost the freakin' game." Yep, that's how it went down.
But it as pretty facinating to see how often random things like that cross your mind. Well, not so much facinating as mind-numbingly annoying.
Haha... this is true.

[Lack of] Kindergarten - Not going to KDG results in everyone you tell saying, "You didn't go??? YOU MISSED PAJAMA DAY!!!!!!" 1st Grade - If you like a guy, don't do what Helga did in Hey, Arnold! 2nd Grade - No, your teacher does not hang students on the wall with her ring. AKA -- Rumors are stupid. 3rd Grade - If you make brownies on the first day, it's probably going to be a good year. 4th Grade - All Catholics + 1 Lutheran = An interesting Religion Class 5th Grade - If you don't like a school, drop out and homeschool! 6th Grade - Taking walks down the street is an appropriate gym class if you're homeschooled. 7th Grade - Obsessing over whether a guy likes you or not is like obsessing over how high a blade of grass has grown within the past HOUR. 8th Grade - Backstabbers don't make good friends. 9th Grade - You won't be sheltered your whole life. 10th Grade - It's OK to be human. Everyone makes mistakes.
There wasn't too many things that I remember about my sixth grade year. That year I was home schooled.
Me too! I was homeschooled for 6th grade... it was an... interesting... experience, to say at the least. I was very involved in Tae Kwon Do and in my church. I had a lot of friends, but not nearly as many as I do now. I do remember 9/11 occurred in 6th grade. That was quite a day for me -- I had to watch the news for 8 hours and write an essay on it. Not so fun. But otherwise? I remember it was a good year but completely boring since my friends were all in public school.
Yes! Hair! My hair is probably the best guy hair around here. I always keep it clean (Because I hate greasy hair. Mother Charged with Rape of daughter PG-13 rating
pooperson replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Everything about that is just sick. I honestly can not believe it. How can they possibly only give him UP TO four years for that??? That's ridiculous!!!!!! That completely makes me sick to my stomache... I can't believe there are people running around our country with a record like that... -
Okay, so these past few weeks I have been talking to my friends a lot about hair. That would make sense -- I'm almost 16 years old, I'm female... it's a common topic. However, my usual topic of conversation pertaining to hair is not how long someone spent straightening theirs or what kind of shampoo they use... My normal conversation follows the question: "What color is your hair?" Yes. I get asked that. EVERY SINGLE DAY. And you see my avatar in the corner... you can't really tell what color it is. So my questions for you are these: 1 ~ What is your NATURAL hair color/colors? 2 ~ Have you ever dyed your hair? If so, what color[s]? 3A ~ If you have, do you regret it? Has it damaged your hair? 3B ~ If you haven't, do you want to? 4 ~ Are you satisfied with your current hair color? 5 ~ What is your favorite style for your hair? [[long, short, bangs, etc]] 6 ~ What kind of hair do you like in the opposite sex? Here are my answers: 1 ~ It changes on its own. I was looking through old pictures today, and it was originally blonde, but it has wavered between blonde & brown. 2 ~ Yes. Too many times to count. The first time, I highlighted it light blonde. From there, it became several shades of brown or blonde. 3 ~ Sometimes I regret it. But for now, I like it because it truly is an undistinguishable color, and that's pretty cool! 4 ~ For the most part. It's reddish now, which is pretty cool. It matches the clothes I wear [[earth tones]]. 5 ~ I like my hair long, no bangs. I like to straighten it sometimes, but when I let the wind do its work, my hair is curly-ish. I like that, too. 6 ~ I like for boys' hair to be medium length or short, and preferably blonde or brown. Ironically, I don't like it when they dye it. Your answers, please?
I've decided to not take part in The Game. This means that I can safely think about the game without having to worry about losing or spammy posts. This ultimately makes me a winner in anyone's eyes. I'd also like to mention that once my friend and I started a round of The Game and we both completely forgot about it so it kind of.. died. I hope the same thing, for OB's sake, happens to this thread. There is no Game.
This reminds me very much so of 1984 by George Orwell. You can SAY that something did not happen, but it still happened. Unless you can SAY it & CONVINCE it to everyone around you that it did not happen. However, on Otaku, I believe that you can not convince EVERYONE anything. Therefore, in an ignorant mindset, there is no Game. But to everyone else who chooses to face reality, the Game is still there [[and continues to haunt and plague you until you swear to all things good and right that you will kill the creator of the Game.]] ...unless, of course, you actually enjoy the Game. And capitalizing the word "Game" makes me think of it as a cult... Oh, and I just lost the Game.
I'm 5'8" and weigh at like 114lb, I dont know if that's a bad thing though, my parents always ask me " Leon are you anorexic?" I end up screaming at them for bringing that subject up, I swear I'm not anorexic, but they dont belive me. I think the clincal depression has something to do with it. I try to bring my weight up by eating junk food, that doesnt work seriously, I ate alot of unhealthly stuff, during school and, I only went up two pounds, then dropped those two pounds during my Phys Ed final. The doctors say I have a very high motabolism, I dont know if that factors into weight or not. In my honest opinon, I have no problem with my weight, I honestly dont see what's wrong with the picture. - Fury
I also get the whole "Are you anorexic?" bit. From EVERYONE. I mean, wow. It's really really really irritating after a while! I mean, if I stand from the side & lift up my arms, I DO look anorexic... but I eat SOOOOOOOOOOO much food that it's CRAZY! My dad worries about how much I eat... and my friends worry about how small I am. GUH! I get the worst of both worlds...

I hate the game. I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I HATE it! A few clarinets at my school made me start playing it about a year ago... Grrr....
-
5'9" [and growing... ack!] and about 135. I used to hate it. I was used to being 120, and I wanted to stay that way. Even thought 135 isn't that much, it still seems like a ton to me. But I'm just like any other insecure, mid-teenage girl: I always think I'm fat. Truth is, I'm one of the skinniest people I know, but I don't see it; everyone else does. That's hard to deal with because I don't always feel good enough, but if I want to lose weight, everyone tells me I'm crazy. It's hard to get a grip on reality sometimes... but life is still good. :D
What do you know about your name? What language did it come from, what does it mean? Also, does this name meaning fit your personality at all? I suppose that is the purpose of this thread. Tell whatever you know. And maybe there is a certain name's history that caught your interest, feel free to discuss that as well.
My name is Marta. Martha without the H. It is originated from several languages, but the one I choose to explain with is Latvian. Latvia is in Baltic Europe, North of Lithuania & West of Russia, and my dad's whole side of the family is from there. But I digress. "Marta" can come from two sources -- Martha or Mara. Martha means "lady", & Mara means "bitter". Opposite-like, huh? Well, to be quite honest, I believe that my name itself does fit me. I mean, c'mon. "Marta" is a pretty weird name -- pretty uncommon. As am I. I honestly can not think of ANYBODY like me, personality-wise. As for the meanings? I do believe they fit me, to an extent. I have a hard time trusting people & am sometimes cynical [[bitter]], but I like to dress up & be classy [[lady]]. That's about all!
