Make your own motivation poster! (56k warning! Image heavy!)

Mine is probably happiness or love. I have been in the very worst of situations and have still come out of it smiling. I just got broken up with by somebody who hit on other girls and probably would have cheated on me... and I still want to be friends with him. I can't hate anybody - I don't have it in me. Something is always always ALWAYS making me smile... I unintentionally make the best out of every situation. It's quite fascinating... I'm sad a lot, but I'm happier even more.

I've forgotten my own name before. I merged my frist and last name to write "Martolins". That was pretty interesting. Sometimes I forget how to swallow. THAT'S NOT FUN!!!!! Also, there's this movie - I don't know what it's called - but for the longest time I called it "Kotex" (that's what I thought it was!!!!). Then I found out that Kotexes are tampons... oops. I ALWAYS forget how old I am. That's because I'm younger than everyone else in my grade. And one time, I sincerely thought that I was a guy. But I was sleep-deprived & the logic made sense... it's a long story. But since then, I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN!!!!!

What skills do you have or what are you best known for?
pooperson replied to orbindo's topic in General Discussion
What am I known for? What skills do I have? That's an interesting question... 'Round these parts, I am known for a few things... - The girl who knows the Bible front and back. This is at church... I have always seemed to excel in that stuff... - "The loud one". My mom went to a band meeting and when asked by a group of moms who her child was, they all said, "Oh, Marta... EVERYONE knows Marta..." & another mom said, "Well, she's not exactly the quietest girl..." - "The good little Christian girl". Yep. That's pretty self-explanatory. In my school's band, I am the "most Christian" girl, according to some. I find that to be fascinating... - "THE BAND NERRRRRRD". In my school, I'm up there on the list of Ultimate Band Nerds. I am after school every day for band something-or-another. Plus, this summer, I have practiced my trumpet twice a day every day. - "That really good trumpet player". This I guess goes under "skills"... SKILLS. - Being smart, I guess. People seem to think that I am really smart. - Being a really good Christian, according to peoplel. A lot of folks think I don't ever do anything wrong... they're not quite right, but okay. - Playing the trumpet and other instruments. If I do say so myself, I pretty much rock at music. I am really good at the trumpet, and I tought myself the saxophone in about a week. I'm also figuring out clarinet, trombone, & guitar. Plus, I know piano. =] -
Stuff you found funny that no one else understood?
pooperson replied to Doublehex's topic in General Discussion
Haha... okay, here we go. I was in a math class this year where my teacher told a lot of jokes. However, she would just splice them in with normal conversation, and it was SO funny. Unfortunately, I would ALWAYS be the only one to hear them! Gah! And now I can't even think of them! Except for one time when she accidentally said "erotic" instead of "irrational"... omg, that was FUNNY. But anyway, it's just stuff like that. Oh yeah, and Snakes on a Plane. NONE of my friends is going to see it [except my brother and his friends who are also my friends i guess] so I'm the only one REALLY REALLY EXCITED about it! Edit-- Oh yeah, and WEEBL is AMAZING!!!! We have a picture of him on our wall... http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/fanart/images/yourcountryneedspiesmall.jpg -
I took Tae Kwon Do for a few years, and I loved it. I quite unfortunately had to quit though because it was expensive, and I didn't have the time for it. :( But anyway, I got up to be a recommended black belt... I WILL EDIT THIS LATER. Okay. I'm back. So I became a recommended black belt, and one month before my black belt testing, I had to quit. However, the experiences there were timeless. I had known my instructor long before I joined because my brother had been in it for several years before I. So he already knew a lot about me because I had spent a lot of time there before I joined. Once I did join though, he taught me invaluable lessons. For example, one particular day sticks out in my mind. We were sparring on a Wednesday night, and I believe I was fighting my own brother. Well, as I said, he had about 5 or 6 more years of experience, not to mention he was taller, stronger, and a higher belt than I, so I hated sparring him. Well, basically, I got the wind knocked out of me and got hurt pretty badly, and I started crying and freaking out. I sat down to take my gear off, and Mr. Brochin (my instructor) told me I needed to finish the fight. Oh man, I was pissed off at him. I started taking my gear off, and he told me that I was going to finish. So I did, and I got hurt, and I cried. I didn't understand why he was making me do that until several years later. Now I know that he was toughening me up to be a stronger and better person. So join Tae Kwon Do. It's good for you.

Well, my brother, who is standing behind me, would like to add this: "I want a ham & cheese sammich!" *Cough. So anyway, as for me? I want support from my friends regarding a decision I'm making about a relationship. I like this guy, and he likes me, so we're dating. However, his reputation is... not good. Like, he's cheated and whatnot. But that was a long time ago, and I'm smart enough to not get hurt. Unfortunately, I'm not getting any support from anybody, and that's all I want. Edit -- Well, I got what I wanted for the most part... unfortunately, my own brother does not support me... :(

Otaku Is A Child Predator's Heaven (PG Thread)
pooperson replied to Pagan's topic in General Discussion
I find Otaku to be much safer than Myspace. The people on Otaku don't give too much information, and there aren't pictures of them with hardly any clothes on. On MySpace, however, it is much easier to track someone down, I believe... -
You today compared to you a year ago
pooperson replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
1. Last year, I had one job. Now I have two. 2. Last year, I was beginning to fall in love with someone. Now I am beginning to fall out of "whatever" with someone. 3. Last year, I was very in touch with God & my religion. Now, I still am, but it is to a smaller extent. 4. Last year, I loved my church and everything about it. Now, I have several problems with how things are run. 5. Last year, I didn't have a MySpace. Now, I do. 6. Last year, I had one crappy trumpet. Now, I have 2 crappy trumpets. And a VERY nice one. 7. Last year, I played on a 5C. Now, I play on a 3C & am moving to a 1 1/2C. That's not a big deal unless you play the trumpet. 8. Last year, I could play 2 instruments. Now, I can play 4. 9. Last year, I owned 2 instruments. Now, I own 7. 10. Last year, things were starting to get rocky between my BFF & me. Now, things are just fine. 11. Last year, I didn't care what people thought about me - appearance-wise. Now, I care slightly. 12. Last year, I was very sure of everything. Now, I am very unsure of everything. -

Do you chose to fight or not fight and whats the after math of it.
pooperson replied to a topic in General Discussion
You mean physical fights? I don't do those - it's really usually not worth it. But sometimes it's tempting... As for fighting for what I believe? Yeah, I do that. I can get really angry when I'm debating or arguing, especially when it involves dissing on someone I love. -
Well, I am 15 years old and am going to be a Junior in High School, whereas most Juniors are 16 or even 17 (as my 2 best friends are). However, I think I act like a 17-year old. I didn't go to Kindergarten, so when I was little, all of my friends were older. Plus, I grew up in the church, basically, and I learned my morals well. Therefore, I dressed modestly - for the most part - and I know when enough is enough, behavior-wise. I'm not trying to sound full of myself, but I am more mature than my 17-year old best friend (she admits it), and physically, I think I look 16 or 17 as well.
Just wondering, but in general how important is a girl's virginity to a guy?
That should have been on my list. It's incredibly important to me because it's a LOT less pressure, and I can relate to him more.

Maybe I'm not describing my perfect one for marriage, but this is my description of want I want in a high school relationship. - He must be older. I'm young for my grade, so he either has to be in my grade or above it. - Band. This is optional, I guess. I would *prefer* that he be in band class. - Smart. Or at least not really, really stupid. Gah! I would hate being the smart one in the relationship! - Nice, obviously. Need I explain? Mean guys are jerks. - Not preppy. I don't want him poppin his collar and doing crap like that. That's retarded. - He has to like my friends. I'm not saying he has to be friends with them, but he still has to like them. - He needs to give his 100%. I don't want someone who doesn't get something done! - It needs to be 50/50 emotional/physical. - He can't cheat on me. That would break my heart and shatter it into pieces.

OtakuBoards reminds me of my friend Kirsten. Now, none of you know Kirsten - obviously. She is much like me - hates anime & manga & anything related to it. However, Otaku reminds me of her because of this thread. You see, one time she and I were up at 1:30 making a recording on my computer. It was just us being stupid basically, and at one point, we started singing a song by Billy Gilman [The Snake Song], and she said "This reminds me of the Backstreet Boys!" But then, as we started to list reason that they were different, we realized that Billy Gilman and the Backstreet Boys are really nothing alike. So this is how Otaku reminds me of Kirsten... Otaku Otaku Lounge This thread Association Association [Billy Gilman --> Backstreet Boys] Kirsten! So basically, I associate association with Kirsten, and since I associate this thread [part of Otaku] with association, I associate Kirsten with Otaku! Did that make sense?

Why do you do what you do? How does it affect you?
...Im revoking your 100 OtakuBucks for your post. Numero Uno: Nothing is proven fact. *puts up Flamewalls* Nii-ban: Anyone can think in any way. It all depends on what they have learned. It is not musicians who think unlike others. It is people within the said mindset who become musicians. It is the way they find they express themselves. Number Three: NO 2 MUSICIANS ARE THE SAME. Musicians are only different from others in the fact that they are musicians, meaning every clich (sp?) s different from every other and every person is different because when you get right down to it, no two thought processes look alike. In the immortal words of Bill Engvall, here's your sign.
Number 1 - Ok, you got me there. I don't want to be all philosophical here - it's not worth it. Ni-ban TO san-ban [hai, nihongo o hanase] - Go here. and here. The first is a WebMD which talks about how practicing a musical instrument can alter the habits of someone. Then this WebMD article talks about the brains of musicians and how they form differently. The second is a study on how the brain can "change". There is one quote I would like to mention if you choose to not read the article.
A comparison of musicians versus nonplayers (sic) brains via magnetic resonance imaging showed a 5 percent greater volume in the musicians' cerebellums, ascribed to adaptations in the brain's structure resulting from intensive musical training and practice.
There's my proof. My personal reason for believing this is because it was proven to me. In band class, we are required to play complex pieces where there is more than one melody, harmony, etc. In one piece, there was an exciting, fast-paced melody being played along with - at the same time, mind you - the tune of "I am Jesus' Little Lamb" - a softer, sadder tune. Pieces like this force you to listen to what's going on around you and be more aware. This applies also in real life. If you have played a piece like that, it trains your mind to be more aware to EVERYTHING. That's all for now. -

pooperson replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
I am a musician. Therefore, I see things "differently" from other people... it's a proven fact that musicians basically don't think the same way as non-musicians. So I have found myself finding the beauty in life, just as I would find the beauty in a song. I look for the major and minor chords, the melodies, the soft voices... just as in life, I look for the good in people, positive physical features, etc. Also, I have taken a liking to photography and taking pictures & enhancing them. Bringing out beauty - once again. It's just what I do. -
When I was young, I had a variety of dreams. Here are the ones that first come to mind... 1 - I wanted to be in the Bible. Yes, the Bible - right after Revelations. So for the longest time, I tried to be as good as I could so that someone could write the "Marta" book and put it in the Bible. I was sure it would happen, too. 2 - I wanted to be taller than my brother. Since he was the older one and got all those benefits, I wanted to be bigger. 3 - I wanted to start a clothing company with hand-made clothes. Keep in mind this is age 8. 4 - I wanted to sing professionally. The results... 1 - I figured out that I couldn't be in the Bible ( :( ), but I did continue to grow immensly in my faith. 2 - Hahaha. After time, I didn't get taller than my brother, but we're close now. He's almost 18 and I'm almost 16, and I'm still growing, and he might be, too. He's I think a little under 6' or so, and I'm 5'8"ish. 3 - My friends and I actually started to accomplish our clothing line. We sewed a BUNCH of clothes, but we never sold them. How sad. 4 - I did not end up pursuing a singing carreer, but instead I found the trumpet, and I have been working at that ever since. I practice for an hour every day, and I'm doing every band extra curric I can. I guess that's my new goal. My other new goal is to help people I don't know/people that don't know me. That one's spontaneous - I can't really prep for it. But it's going well so far ;)
-
Coincidence - I am doing the same thing this summer. It's ridiculus what some of these kids do... so my rules? 1 - It's a sidewalk, not a siderun. I say that every single day to these kids, and they STILL don't get it! 2 - NO means NO, so stop asking. I encounter that problem a lot. 3 - Don't talk about eating mice's eyes at the lunch table. That's just sick. 4 - "Clean up" means what it sounds like. No one gets that either. 5 - Basically, just shut up & pay attention please (&thankyou!)
TPBM likes quesadillas.
FALSE. NO WAY. Mexican food = the grossest. TPBM has troubles typing "TPBM".
Oh the joys of having a big brother....
Everything that Panda said applies to me as well. I too have an older brother (by 1 year, 11 months, & 10 days), and when we were kids, I was the tomboy in our neighborhood. We fought a lot and didn't even talk really until this year in high school - his junior year & my sophomore. I guess it was when he got his liscence that we started hanging out, but now we go out for lunch, coffee, ice cream, whatever a lot, and sometimes we just drive around. And now he's enlisted in the USAF [air force]. He lives in a year & a week. Holy crap... He's going to be a linguist. He'll be enlisted for 20 years. Yep. That's my story about Aleks & me.
-Are you male or female? -Where do ya hail from, stranger? -How old are you? -Do you have siblings?
I am a female from the giant cornfield that is Indiana, USA. I am 15 years old, 16 in October [[very excited about that!!!!!!!!!!!]]. I have one brother who is 17 [18 in November]. As for other information? I am deeply devoted to music. I play the trumpet in the highest band at my school and am in Marching Band, Trumpet Choir, Brass Choir, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and Pit Orchestra. My 2nd instrument is the saxophone, and I'm teaching myself the trombone and the guitar. I love to shop at Kohl's and eat at Steak'N'Shake with my friends. I have 2 jobs. One is just a summer job at a day camp, and the other one is at a party supply store. Any other questions? Just ask.

I guess the title is self-explanatory. What do you think about those kids with the following description?: - Girl pants. TIGHT girl pants (**shudder**) - Black make-up - "No one understands me" - Hair in face, covering one eye - obsessed with taking pictures of themselves - the color BLACK. - etc. you know what i'm talking about. edit --- do you believe they fit that description? is it just a fashion trend or is it feelings? are you "emo"? etc...

i really like bands like DC Talk, Superchick, and Switchfoot -- all mainstream I guess (only DC Talk is secular now... grrr...) but on the opposite end, i also really like P!ATD (or Panic! At The Disco) because their music is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus, their lyrics are really poetic, and even if I don't agree with them, they still get serious props for creativity. Same with FOB (Fall Out Boy). But Toby Keith is good, too!
