I am scared of very few things... but here they are: 1. The movie Signs. It was the scene at the birthday party
when the alien shows up
and also when the bird
falls in the middle of flying because of hitting the force field and dies
that really scare me. From the time I saw it until now, I still can't think about it. Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT movie... but scary as ****. 2. The freezer in the back of the restaurant that I work at. It's very dimly lit, and the door shuts on its own. Whenever I food run, I have to go back there to get celery, carrots, mayo, fruit, and coleslaw... and I hate it! The first few times I went in there, I thought it locked itself, and I cried. I was so scared of it and still am. Eventually I noticed a huge sign that says "YOU ARE NOT LOCKED IN" that gives instructions in case someone locks you in... how comforting. To make it better, my boss always jokes about locking me in, and he makes me go back there as many times as possible. Grr... 3. Getting fat. I'm scared to death of it... that's the one thing that could make me feel incredibly inadequate. [thread=56510]Click here for more information on this...[/thread] I feel I've already posted enough about that one... guh. edit -- i'll edit this later to revise my answers to fit the female criteria.
The Game "Because I hate it. Everyone hates it, yet no one could stay away from it. It is 10 pages of "The Game" stories and even some posts simply saying, "Oh ****, I just lost it". How this thread did not get locked is beside me. But the point is, it brought about one common thing for everyone to be ****ed off at, and it is a truly entertaining thread to read when I'm bored." - taperson
Oo, that makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside! Congratulations to everybody deemed nifty! =]
Well to tell you the truth the laws are getting tighter. Some people wanted the law of now smoking or I think it was no drinking in a bar. When I heard that it made no sense at all even though I'm against drinking and drugs I still think drinking should be allowed in a bar. If not then why do we even have a bar in the first palce.
Oh my. I think you may be confused. I work in a sports bar. AKA - Bar + Family Dining. Smoking IS allowed in the bar area but only because of our high ventilation system. Otherwise, smoking is banned in public places, especially restaurants, in the city of Indianapolis. I think what people want is for there to be no SMOKING in a bar setting, not drinking. There is no way that people could get rid of drinking in a restaurant that sell alcohol, let alone a bar. However, these people don't understand that honestly, from the non-smoking section, you can even tell anyone is lit up. Ahh, it's so beautiful.

I personally like Dragon Warrior. This is because of, first and foremost, Slackers in Slacks. That is the second most amazing comic I have ever seen, the first being, of course, Toothpaste for Dinner. Ahh, TPFD. But I digress. Also, he was the first from the OB to add me on - gasp! - Myspace!, and I thought that was pretty nifty. Plus, his photoshoppiness and humor never fails to amuse me. =]

Let me start this thread out with a basic background of myself. I am a sixteen year-old female, 5'10"-11"ish, approximately 140 pounds. The last couple of months have been pretty difficult for me because right before I turned 16, none of my old clothes fit anymore, and I gained a lot of weight. I have almost no fat, and my BMI is 20.2, but my self image/self esteem dropped to an extreme low. At that point I considered anorexia, which my friend had struggled with two years prior. However, I knew that it wasn't healthy, so instead, I would just eat and feel like crap. It was like I would eat and then just FEEL the fat, even though there was none. One of my friends defines it as having an "anorexic mindset", which is basically what it is. This has been continuous, and the struggle with it has been awful. I tried telling my parents, but my dad didn't seem to hear me, I guess. My mom just told me, "You're not fat", and stopped it there. When I told my brother, he didn't know what to say but in later arguments used it against me. The only people I can even feel to trust are my ex-boyfriend and ONE of my best friends because she struggled with anorexia, bulimia, and still struggles with a self image problem. What I want to know from you guys is this: First of all, have you yourself ever struggled with a self image/esteem problem? In other words, have you ever seen yourself as too fat/ugly/etc until it got to the point that you obsessed over it? Have you ever known someone go through this? Feel free to share stories. Second of all, do you have any advice for overcoming it? Did you tell your parents [and if you did, HOW]? What steps did you take to overcome this? Thanks, guys! =] Just a note, having a low self image is a SELF thing. It has nothing to do with how people see you but with how you see yourself.

Mmm, work. I love work. Work work work. Basically, I'm a workaholic. I love my job. I love my old jobs. I love my bosses. Etc. Anyway, I am a hostess/busser/food-runner at Casler's Kitchen and Bar. It's a sports bar - I'd say a mix between O'Charlie's and B-Dub's. As a hostess, I greet people, hear about how they love the fire and I have "the best seat in the house", I ask them smoking or non, I explain to them why we have a smoking area, I take them to their tables, I hear them complain, I take them to another table, and then I tell them to drive safely. It's a good time. Lots of complaining from not only the customers but also from the waiters and waitresses. Guh. But whatever... it's a decent job. As a busser, I just clean. Clean, clean, clean. No human interaction. It basically sucks. On a busy night, I clean quickly. On a slow night, I clean slowly. As a food-runner, I get to take food to people's tables. It's my favorite job because it's a lot of fun. It helps me get to know the menu, and I get to prepare the food a little bit... not a lot. Just a little bit. It's an exciting job, but if I don't get it right, I'm in a lot of trouble. Guh. I never saw myself working in food. Ever. But I love this job! \ When I was little, I wanted to be a lawyer. I still do a little bit. I think it'd be a lot of fun... but I can only imagine messing up. I could never forgive myself. Anyway, I also wanted to be an artist, which is a little more true to what I plan to be now. I am going to go to [hopefully] Butler University and major in Music Education. Basically, I'm going to be a band director, and it's going to rock. =]

"The Angry Food Runner" * Do you have a job? If so, where and what do you do? I work at the lovely Casler's Kitchen and Bar. It's not a chain, just one restaurant. It's basically a sports bar... a mix between O'Charlie's and B-Dub's. I work as a hostess, busser, and food runner... whichever one they need that day. As a hostess, I have to seat people and make sure that everything is working out okay. As a busser, I have to be the b**** and let everyone walk all over me as I clean their tables. And as a food runner, I get to deal with crappy customers who got chips instead of fries and want their napkins and want them NOW. It's a good time... but it makes my arms hurt. :] * If you were an assistant of Donald Trump, what would your job be? I would totally do all those little random jobs. I'd clean the bathrooms in the Tower, I'd sweep the floors, and I'd make the coffee! But those would be my day jobs... at night I would play my trumpet oh-so-melodiously at all those fancy parties he goes to! It'd be a good time, lemme tell ya. * How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Too bad they can't... BUT... a woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Would you spend $1,000 on anime figurienes? OR Would you spend $200 on a prostitute?
200 on the prostitute, hands down. I hate anime... please don't kill me. I would just take the prostitute out to dinner. Haha. Would YOU rather... Hide a terrible secret from those closest to you and therefore have to lie constantly... OR Have that same terrible secret accidentally published on every web site known to man but never have to lie about it ??

I basically completely agree with you as well... Survey time: *First of all, I'd like to ask how old are you? I am the beautiful age of 16. *How would you say you feel about abstinence? (A. Excellent, B. Good, C. Fair, D. Poor) A -- Excellent! *And how many times have you been in a situation where you had to make a decision to abstain from sexual activity or not? (It's cool to estimate.) Never *How many relationships have you been in? (A numerical estimation is cool here too.) 1.5 *How often would you say you see public displays of affection? Every single day. *When you see these public displays of affection would you say you're offended in any way? Not often. *Would public displays of affection be alright for you to show? For me?? I don't do ANYTHING in public besides hand-holding or hugging, unless it's just around friends. *How far would you say is too far for a public display of affection? (A. Kissing, B. Hugging, C. Other. If other, could you provide me with a short explanation of what you consider too far?) C... heavy making out is too far. *In your opinion have school dances become too sexual? Yes/No. No. *At what age do you think that dating should begin? (Like, a real age not "Whenever!") 14-15. AKA, freshman year [9th grade] in high school. Thank you in advance to anyone who does the survey too. :) You're welcome! =]

The OtaKuties- Critiques/Betting Thread [E]
taperson: You didn't put much to your answers, either, and it's a shame.
Eek, I know... I haven't been on OB much. Things have been busy with work, so I did them in a rush. -
Eek! I totally forgot about this. How hot is that?? There. It's from band camp this summer. By the way, the pants say "Not A Nacho Band"... it's a long story. EDIT -- AAH! I forgot to do the questions!! If you could combine two animals, what would they be, and why? I would definitely combine a fish and a bird. I love both of those animals, and they're both very pretty. I think that together they could make a superanimalbirdfish, which would just be pretty awesome! If you had to film an action movie, what location in the world would you think would suit the most exciting action scene ever? (In other words, where would you film it?) I would totally film it on top of my roof. I have a pretty exciting roof, ya know. Of course it would be difficult, what with all the cameras and whatnot, but it would allow for a pretty awesome setting. I have pretty trees in my backyard, too, so you could see those! Let's say you ruled a country. Whether your economy prospers or not is up to you. In otherwords, you can be a harsh ruler to your people or a kind one. But what of food? Do you vary in vegetation and agriculture? Do you have a large marketing system? Perhaps some world wide food industries were founded in your nation. The question is, how do you run your country's food situation following those guidelines? This takes more thought, folks. You can choose to make your food of plenty or not. What's it going to be? Oh, of course my country will produce lots of food. I'll set up acres and acres of broccoli fields. Eventually, some scientist will invent a super broccoli, which will just rake in the cash flow to my country. We would be "Martaland - Home of the Huge Broccoli". It would be absolutely remarkable. We would also grow chicken because that same scientist would learn how to. Then we'd be known for the organic chicken. Basically, we would prosper highly because all of the vegetarians in the world would order from "Marta's Chicken and Broccoli Corp.", and my entire country would be rich.

I am here because I googled something, and it led me to this site. I liked what I saw, so I joined. I stayed because I still like what I see. The people here are FAN-tastic, and the topics are usually interesting. This one is, ironically, slightly lacking in the "interest" category, simply because no one is really answering the question...
i. In democracy, the majority rules. ii. Popular kids are the ones that get Candygrams. iii. Popular kids are, by definition, the majority. iv. Candygrams rule. v. QED.
Therefore, NIKI [and no offense to anyone], but it seems like the OB might not be the best place to ask. From what I have read in previous forums, the people here don't seem to be the "popular" type. Because of that, I would say that most people here would "personally" say no but, as Raiyuu said, "technically" say yes. I really hope that came out in words as well as it did in my head.
Now that I've got your attention, I will do my best to make this thread live up to its title. The reason, of course, is that what you see here is leading up to a question, and this little introduction is a part of the process of being asked this particular question. That first sentence, then, is valid so long as I do type the words you have been led to believe will appear. Unfortunately, I will not do this. You and I both know the question, even though it has technically not been asked.
So what, exactly, is the point of this thread? To which of your statements or "questions" am I supposed to reply? Or am I to simply comment on your post?

I can play almost any musical instrument... if it's a band instrument. Like, band. The class. Yeah. I can't play the guitar [but I love it!] or the drums [but they're so sexy!], nor can I sing [but I love to!]. Therefore, I am not in a band. I do perform, however, in the jazz band, pep band, pit orchestra, marching band, two concert bands, etc, on the trumpet [AKA the best instrument ever]. The only music I write is instrumental, and it's not that wonderful. I plan on majoring in Music Education at Butler University in Indianapolis. So basically, music is my passion, my life, my everything. But no, I'm not in a band, so to speak =].

This week it is definitely "American Pie" by Don McLean. It's an amazing song with the most beautiful lyrics. It portrays the popular culture of the 60's and 70's in an incredible way!

=] I am a good musician. Music is basically my absolute passion, and - unlike most people I know - I actually understand its concepts [scales, key sigs, dynamics, etc], and I actually apply the methods I learn. Unfortunately, I'm not that great of a player, but I am good at picking up different instruments and learning them to an extent. The trumpet is my main instrument, and though I love it, I don't have the range I could... but that's why I'm majoring in Music Ed and not Performance. I'm also pretty smart I guess. I have a 3.7something GPA, and considering my school has the hardest grading school in the state, that's pretty good. I also got a 221 on the PSAT's and a 2020 on the SAT's, which I will soon be retaking to raise my score. =[ Eek. I procrastinate way too much. I mean, homework-done-the-class-before kind of procrastination... Yuck. I'm also quite shy, as I learned this weekend, but only around people I don't know. I guess that's what shyness is. Anyway, I'm so awkward with small-talk and conversations with people I don't know... it's just weird. Ugh.

It's a nice "bright side" to what was once a really depressing holiday. Oh, how I love Singles Awareness Day...

Oh my... I used to love Haiku... I remember on May 7th, 2005, I wrote an entire post on my xanga out of haikus... there were about 15 of them. Of course, it was in honor of Haiku Day. Here's the only one I've been in love with recently:
Haikus are easy But sometimes they don't make sense Refrigerator
It's humorous, you know it. I like them, however, because they are [usually] pretty deep, meaningful, or descriptive. Plus, to me, they're easier to comprehend than "abababab" poetry. edit -- Oh, and NIKI... your second one isn't quite a haiku. The 2nd line has 2 too many syllables.

I am not at all a quote kind of person. However, there is one that has absolutely shaped my life.
Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart." - Anne Frank
Anne Frank expressed my thoughts completely -- although there are people who seem like they have absolutely no good in, they do. Somewhere. I believe in hope in all people, even when they've hurt me or others. I guess that's why this quote is my sig. :D

Who has the coolest song on their Myspace profile?
pooperson replied to Jakehammaren's topic in Noosphere
I had an awesome Indie song, but it got deleted by the artist. =[ Then I switched it to "American Pie", basically the best song in the entire history of songs.. Click here for the awesome song... -
I got creative -- me with my hobby. 1. What's your favorite hobby? I love - more than anything - music. I play a few different instruments, my main being the trumpet, in band class at school, and I'm highly involved in all the "musical extracurrics" -- pep band, jazz band, marching band, etc. However, I don't just limit myself to "band" music -- I love all kinds of music. I'm very open-minded about what I listen to, and there is no specific genre that I always favor [although I do tend to enjoy all country songs]. Oh, and the song playing in the picture is "Better Days (And The Bottom Drops Out" by Citezin King. Aside from music, I love - of course - hanging out with my best friend. This usually involves going to a store or cheap restaurant, taking pictures, and basically making fools out of ourselves. She is amazing, and I love spending time with her. My other hobby is photography. Pictures contain so much beauty, and I love the creativity I can show by taking pictures. 2. What do you think your best personality trait would be? I am very optimistic and believe that out of all the bad that happens, some good happens as well. I almost always have a smile on my face, even when things are really horrible. If there's one thing I always try to do, it's to help people see all the beauty in life and to realize that love is the answer.
