1. Research Papers?? What?? Is this some thing that kids in america do that kids in the uk don't do... I mean, yes, I've heard of research papers, but the ones I'm thinking of, I won't have to do til I have a phD.... yes... it's official.. one day I will have a phD... hopefully in 6 years :drunk:
 2.
Originally posted by boris fame=every body loves you, aka bill gates
:twitch: :twitch:  everybody, eh? love, eh? heh.... I think not. though many people would die for his money. money.... bleh... I feel like writing something along the lines of 'If you had enough money you could fund a research project into making your brain feel happy at all times. there you go.... happiness'... but I'm not up to writing the details of this research project... and besides... the team would probably sabotage my head :drunk: ... but enough about scientific possibilities that we hope will never happen, I'll go back to the subject of money. Money can't buy everything... I come to that conclusion because we can't sell everything... like love, as many have said. You can't sell, for example "5 litres of pure love in a bottle" it doesn't work like that. So no. bleh... my brain is dying! help!
 3.
Originally posted by James *sigh* Panny Chan...this is when my disapproval of religion becomes very justified. But I won't talk about that now...as it's not appropriate.
hmmm.... I don't actually think religion is the problem, I think it's more the organisation, i'e' the church. They are the ones putting forward the 'God condemns homosexuals' and such ideas. My mum and dad are both religious (and christian) but beleive in no such thing. I'm not saying you're wrong to disapprove of religion, but I think religion itself isn't the problem in this case, the problem is those that represent it.
 4.
Originally posted by Sephiroth I've never really thought of the opposite sex as mind boggling, sure some can be cruel, mean, stuck up, etc. but then again, isn't it the same with some guys too?
Yeah, I'm cruel all the time  ... but.... a lesser cruel... the kind of cruel that feeds rabbits alcohol :drunk: ... I'm serious.. I did that..... after having my fair share of the stuff :drunk: . ANYWAY.... what I find most mind boggling about the opposite sex is... hmmmm *ponders* why must we find them so mind-boggling :drunk:

I mean, it leaves it all to the imagination, where the spaces may be :drunk: ... most people assume that it reads 'deu sex machina'... :drunk:
 6.
Originally posted by Panny Chan ;) So I'm kinda worried that God might have damned me or something.
Erm... I'm not religious... but my mum and dad are... and what they would say is 'God doesn't damn anyone'.. you see.. the only people who would damn you are those who fear what they don't understand.. the same christians that are so anti-homosexual.. but that's not what the religion is about, that's their personal beliefs. I know many christians who don't judge anyone to the same extent as those people.. That's what religion is truly about. And as for the people who make fun of you- ignore them. Soomer or later if they continue this way someone will stand up to them. ;)
 7. heh heh.... Turning up to lectures every so often, so everyone thinks 'Who's that guy?' nah... I'm not that bad, I just pretend to be ;) 1- Friends, whether in the real world or online 2- Having to run to catch the bus... I'm proud of the fact that it's never beaten me yet, despite ''starting'' at the same place :p 3- My ability to hit myself in the head with a bar, bleed, and still work the whole day, while also taking it in good humor :) (only did this once) bleh... there's more but I can't think of it right now...

 11. Well.. I go to Keele University, in the UK.. which, unlike American unis, doesn't do a 'major-minor' system, but instead you have the option to do a degree in two subjects.. for example, I am doing physics and biochemistry... also, if you only do one subject, you have to do additional modules in other subjects, relevant to that which you are doing. Such as, someone just doing physics will also do modules in Maths and Computing. Someone just doing biochemistry will also do modules in neuroscience, and biology. As far as I know, very few universties do this, but I prefer it to just doing one subject. ;)
 12. General Discussion! because I just prefer it! there is a reason but my brain is dead right now so it eludes me...

I just preordered my copy on saturday... but at GAME rather than HMV.... Also, I do not think that Tekken 4 is even out in Japan, much less where you live, making your information faulty.
If there was a problem with bringing this topic back, seph would've said so ;) . I suppose I did just make the thread for what people thought of those games, but recommending more does no one any harm. Also, Herman never said Tekken 4 was out yet for PS2 ;) just that it was a good game, and as seph said, it is in the arcades. Plus: Herman corrected himself and said he meant Tekken Tag Tournament, before you posted this ;) .

I know from experience...
apparantly there is.... seriously... I think it's called 'male stress disorder' or something very similar... I read it in a magazine.... a SCIENCE magazine.... I'll post the details tomorrow ;) oh yes, I have 'one of those days' all the time.... usually when I'm in work, or uni ;) EDIT: forget tomorrow, I found the article on the website... I was close: 'Irritable male syndrome'.... OK.... one word in three isn't bad  I'll just copy the article into a quote.
Hormone swings affect men too, suggests research 19:00 27 February 02 Exclusive from New Scientist Print Edition The newly recognised condition of irritable male syndrome plays havoc with male animals, temporarily turning confident, chest-beating Tarzans into withdrawn, grumpy wimps. And there's some evidence that irritable male syndrome, which is triggered by a sudden drop in testosterone, affects men as well as animals, says Gerald Lincoln of the Medical Research Council's Human Reproductive Sciences Unit in Edinburgh, Scotland. Photo: Getty Images The symptoms may resemble those of the so-called male menopause, but Lincoln believes the condition can affect men of any age when stress causes testosterone levels to plummet. If he's right, it's not just women who have their hormonal ups and downs. Lincoln first pinpointed the syndrome in Soay sheep. In the autumn, the rams' testosterone levels soar and they rut. In the winter, testosterone levels plummet and they lose interest in sex. High testosterone is supposed to mean more aggression. But the rams were more likely to injure themselves when testosterone was low. So Lincoln monitored the activity of eight rams, such as how often they struck out with their horns. As testosterone levels fell, the rams changed from competent males who addressed each other in a ritualistic fashion, to nervous, withdrawn animals that struck out irrationally, he says. Reindeer and elephants Red deer, reindeer, mouflon and Indian elephants also show clear signs of irritable male syndrome when testosterone levels fall off at the end of their breeding seasons, says Lincoln. "The mahouts sometimes starve the elephants after the musth, or tie them up to keep them under control." But what does this mean for people? Here the evidence is shaky, Lincoln admits. But it's clear that testosterone has a major impact on human behaviour. The brain is loaded with receptors for testosterone and its conversion products. What's more, Richard Anderson, also at Edinburgh, has found that when men who cannot produce testosterone come off hormone replacement therapy, they become irritable and depressed. Their mood improves when they resume treatment. Lincoln thinks that stresses such as bereavement, divorce or life-threatening illnesses could send testosterone levels plummeting. There are few human studies on stress and testosterone, he says, but numerous studies on animals, including primates, show that testosterone levels fall when stress sends corticosteroid levels skywards. Men behaving sadly "It's right on the money," says reproductive endocrinologist David Abbott of the Wisconsin Regional Primate Research Center in Madison. "Testosterone effects have been missed. When a bloke gets grumpy and irritable, [researchers] try and explain it only in terms of cortisol levels and depression. They ignore the fact that testosterone levels are probably falling too." But David Handelsman, an expert on male hormones at the University of Sydney, is more cautious. He says the changes in testosterone levels in normal adult men are far smaller than the dramatic swings seen in Soay rams, with one notable exception: levels fall by at least 90 per cent in men who undergo castration for advanced prostate cancer. "The wives notice it first," says Keen-Hun Tai of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne. "The men become more withdrawn, but more emotional. They laugh and cry more easily." Clearly, the jury's still out when it comes to people. But if irritable male syndrome does affect men, diagnosing it won't be easy. It's far from clear what normal testosterone levels are, while extra doses of the hormone may increase the risk of heart disease. But the syndrome could still be worth investigating. "Instead of putting stressed men on Prozac, a little testosterone may do the job," says Abbott.
20.
Originally posted by () Okay so I was thinking, people say aliens don't exist right? Right. Why? 'Cuz there's no oxygen/water on other planets. Ok... but, what if... Aliens don't NEED water and oxygen? Okay so you might be thinking He must be grade 1 or something ... I am NOT in grade 1...I'm saying:What if the aliens have a totally different evolution pattern in which they evolved to a state in wich they don't need water/oxygen? Ok I admit its pretty far out, but... who knows? :naughty:  So what do you think about my far out theory???
nope... I don't think you're grade 1.. firstly, there no actual proof your theory can't be true.. secondly... we don't call it grade 1 over here. :drunk: ... but yes... it is possible... or.. probably possible that aliens evolved not to need oxygen and water.. but that implies that they once did.. it's far more feasible that they never did need oxygen and water ;) ... Actually I saw a feature on TV once... a few years back, when they sent that rover to mars.. can't remember it's name, but there was a feature about the possibility of life on mars, and someone said 'I can imagine martians looking on earth saying "there can't be life there.. too much oxygen"'.. personally I think that it was tripe, but you never know....

 23. Bah! The first secret mission is bothering me... the one where you have to shoot the sin scissors at it's weak point and kill it in a single shot.... I can't do it :( ... sure, I can kill it.. but not in one shot... anyone here done it? how?.... bah... I've already finished mission 3 though, so I'll have to wait til the next difficulty level-- Legendary Dark Knight Mode:nervous: , or start a new game...
