Um...I'm kinda new here since I wanna be able to conversate with people about anime and such at school. So call me Miko and if you want a real name, message me. :)
You came to the right place then. -
And Lunox, yes, they hate homosexuality, and my dad is a bible-thumper. It sucks. As for the violence thing, there was quite a bit of hurt involving a metal-lined belt, but that was purely discipline, sooo...
Things like that tend to make me really ashamed of my fellow Christians. Seems like everytime I want to let everyone know that we are not all homophobic bigots somebody displays just the opposite. It is beyond frustrating. :animeangr Sorry, I'm ranting now. I hope things get better for you at home soon.
Unfortunately, I've yet to find that comforting anime (probably because of my lack of taste and pickiness) when I'm dealing with stress. The closest thing to comforting was Moribito because of its serene look. I'd like to continue watching this since it became a top favorite after seeing the first 5 episodes, but since the time slot changed on adult swim I haven't been able to watch it anymore. Now when it comes to anger... Black Lagoon seems to calm me down quite a bit. As evil and demented as it sound, the level of violence and agression in this does wonders for my anger. Samurai X - Trust and Betrayal is another that I'd say does the trick for me as well. Death Note does a little bit as well. "coughs"
Those would have a lot of cathartic potential.

Times are stressful for a lot of people these days, me included but sometimes we can find comfort in odd places. I remember not too long ago I went into work one morning only to be inform that I had been let go. Angry and stressed out I walked back home but picked up my mail along the way. That day I had received a volume of Lucky Star from Netflix so I popped it in once I got home. By the time that hour and 40 minutes were over my mood had greatly improved and things seemed not so bad. It became my comfort anime. So I ask you, do you have a comfort anime?
I've had a soft spot for the Nirvash ever since I watched Eureka Seven. You can't tell me you wouldn't hop into an air surfing mecha if you had the chance.
I agree, can't beat a surfing mech. I also like the fact that the Nirvash is not all machine but kind of alive. -
Gaming Villains you can't help but like -- Video Game edition
I thought of another villian that I liked in a video game. Seymour Guado from Final Fantasy X. He was never an easy foe to beat because of his stupid immunities. I loved that he was so smug no matter what the situation...even if he was losing. He made it seem like he was the best darn thing to happen to Spira. He also had super cool hair....which was awesome. Wish I had hair like that.
I loved how he seemed like a pretty reasonable guy up until you find out his plan to save the world involved
killing ever last living thing.
-
Which Japanese singers or bands would you like to come see?
pax et agape replied to Nowy67's topic in Noosphere
No possible way I could go there but two of my favorites that come to mind are Tsu Shi Ma Mi Rei and Sambomaster. -
You know, it's been a long time since I've done anything for Halloween. The last time I remember doing anything was in college when I borrowed my dormmate's wooden broadsword and walked around campus challenging the little trick-or-treaters to duels. Fun, but a totally unplanned thing.

Gaming I need help in finding a free downloadable Anti-Virus website
pax et agape replied to Vigilance's topic in Noosphere
I have Avira myself and I hear AVG is good as well. If you go to http://www.download.com you can check out those and others and download from a guaranteed spyware clean site. They also have helpful reviews as well. -
Watches do more that just tell time and the date many of them also control giant robots (Giant Robo and Big O) If you're a loser, on your way to a new school or new town and happen to met an attractive female and end up in an embarrassing situation, rest assured this girl will fall in love with you. Not only that but it's a safe bet you will meet several more girls will show up most likely, the popular girl in school (if in school) a tomboy, a dizzy and a girl several years younger than you but your heart will always belong to the first girl (any harem series) This is something I've been wondering, why is it always the first girl the main character in harem shows always ends up with?
I can think of only one exception. In Shuffle the guy doesn't end up with the first girl. Then again, he was also popular from the start.
i usually go with dubs, but thats just because i usually see a show in english first. it bothers my friends that i wait for the english episodes of bleach to come out, cause theyre way ahead of me. i just cant bring myself to watch with the japanese voices
I find myself in a similar position but since I don't have cable I have to wait for the DVDs to come out on netflix. As such I haven't even finished the Bount arc yet.
Can't believe I forgot about this one. Yeah, most of the time if the fanservice is in small doses I can usually just brush it to the side. But if it's something that's going to be thrown in my face every minute it'll kill the series for me.
That's mine also. When there is gratuitous nudity and the like for no purpose other than fan service it can ruin an otherwise great show.
I thought masturbation could get you pregnant O_O This. I had also heard when I was a young'n that carrots were good for your eyes. Naturally, I used to try to shove carrots into my eyes so that I could see better. Hmm. I also thought a million dollars wasn't very much money... like, at all. I was also convinced that music could never make any kind of mathematical sense. Being a music major has ruined that sense of ignorance for me....... entirely.
Maybe that's why I didn't stick to my music major. Just couldn't handle the math. Then I tried audio engineering and discovered it was all physics. No wonder I ended up with a degree in religion. I remember when I was young I though Marylin Manson was a woman.
I never did get around to posting my cosplay pics from Anime Evolution back in June, so here they are! I'm really happy with how our costumes turned out =) Myself as Link and my friend Gil as Tetra. Well this picture is about a year old but I don't really have anything more recent (it's one of the better pictures of me too). What do you think?:animeshy: -
Well since almost all of my anime comes from Netflix I doubt any of it is unlicensed but two of my old favorites come to mind: Pani Poni Dash and Genshiken. Of course for all I know they could be wildly popular and I'd be oblivious to it.
Oh, and let me add Midori Days and Kamichu to the list.
I love Ouran!

Ouran is probably one of the best high school comedy animes I have come across. Even though it is technically shojo I think there is something here for everyone.

Unless the voice acting is really bad (see Love Hina) I typically go for dubs. When it is in my own native language I can better pick up on things like emotional inflection, timing, and intent. Also, there has been an ever increasing number of American voice actors that I have grown to greatly respect for their acting chops. That being said, when I have a DVD with both I will often go back and rewatch it with the original voices to see that actor's performance as well. So really, I get something out of both.
I've owned the movie for a while now. I wasn't pleasantly surprised by how good it was, since I'd already heard plenty of positive feedback. I like the characters, and it's a pretty simple, and heartwarming story, with a solid ending. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase. It's kinda funny though, on the day I bought this film, my friend ended up buying it for me as well and presented it to me on the same night. Simultaneous face palm.
That is quite the coincidence. Did you keep both of them?
-
I saw that movie a couple months ago. I didn't have huge expectations but I ended up really liking it. Like you said, it went in a pretty different direction than I expected it to. A very nice turn on a tried and true formula.

I can only think of one game that has put me on the verge of tears. That would be Persona 4. If you've played the game you might guess that this happened when
Nanako died
. That really pulled at the heart strings and stuck with me for a long time.
