Berserk

Yeah, one of the better animes I've seen. Good story, classic dark-ages setting, and giant sword swinging action.

The animation was good for it's time, as Otaku America has already gone through and explained for all of us. It's just like comparing Final Fantasy VII to X, VIIs polygon people were a hardcore breakthrough for RPGs for it's time. Think of the animation quality relevant to it's time.

This is my favorite anime/ manga of all time. I love the art work. I think it's original and unique. The sory is dark , just the way I like it.

I'm up to the part where Guts see's the God Hand for the first time, and the band of the hawk is murdered in front of his eyes. Anyone else here read the entire thing ?

I think Guts is the best anime character of all time. I don't think any anime character has it as bad as him. The **** that poor guy had to live through, is so ****** up.

I'm very interested in finding out about the Berserk Armor. Anyone have any pictures of this ?

I watched this anime series a few months ago, and just thought about it again when I saw the post about anime that needed continuation. Overall, the anime was pretty good, and unique. Unlike a lot of anime, it was very serious, grim, and not so sympathetic with the characters or focusing on sentimental things.

My thing with the Berserk ending was that it was so unpredictable-- basically left you at a cliffhanger. I don't think they'll make anymore episodes, and I think the series ended the way it did to make you go buy the manga and find out what's going to happen next. What do you think?

I got to read some of the manga continuing from the end of the t.v. series, and it's pretty shocking. But if any of you have read it, do you think it worth pursuing?

visualkei, I merged your thread with the official Berserk thread. Use the official anime thread whenever you talk about one specific anime. Official threads can be found in the Official Threads Directory. -r2
Honestly Berserk (*manga and anime) is probably one of my fave series out there. Its true the anime pretty much just drops you into the mix without a whole lot of information. But at the same time it drags you in feet first and you find yourself desperately seeking to find out why this stuff is happening and how it affects everyone. I know I'm not the only one who cried a few times watching this series or reading the manga. ^^

I have to say if you enjoyed the anime at all then you have to read the manga. It fills in so many blanks its not even funny. But honestly don't just start from where the anime left of. Start at the beginning and read the whole series. There are quite a few differences between the story if not the plot that will help you understand it all much better. Such as the addition of Puck the elf. (Oh for those who look at Puck and see a fairy technically in mythology elves and fairie were from the same family. Elves were known as the fair folk. They came in all kinds of shapes and sizes.)

As for the ending of the series...hmm don't expect that anytime soon. Berserk manga is still ongoing, in fact we're only part of the way through Volume 31 right now. Chances are the writer will keep this going for years yet. I certainly hope so at least, I just love this story!

But honestly the manga will not only help you appreciate the anime more it'll answer not just a few of the questions you probably had while watching it! ^^
I guess ill start off by saying this is truly my favorite anime of all time right now and thats pretty hard for me to say since i love Cowboy Bebop so much. Finally i found something that beat Cowboy Bebop for me which is Berserk.
Serious!!? I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop and I Cant get enough of it. I have seen Beserk in the shop and I have always considered watching it but now that someone who has the sense enough to enjoy Cowboy Bebop has recommended it i definately have to check it out. wicked :animenose

You know, when I first watched Berserk a couple of years ago and got to the ending, I was mad. I hated the way they let it end on a cliffhanger like that. But since going back and rewatching it I've definitely come to appreciate this series and now consider it to be one of my favorites.

I'd recommend to anyone who has watched the series to try out the manga. There is so much that was left out and lots of questions will be answered. I'm only on volume 8 so far, so I haven't caught up to the anime just yet, but I'm getting there. Still, even in the first story arc there is so much that was left out of the anime, so it's definitely worth checking out.

This is a very very good anime. I think the way they drew it and the still images are made very well. Anyways the whole anime is just basically made to describe the first 15 minutes of the first episode.

I don't want to be the bringer of bad news. But the creator of Berserk started making the anime a long time ago and eventually came out with the manga, after a while he came out with the series. Basically what I am trying to say is that he doesn't want to make a next series because he is too lazy to make it.

So if he is making it don't be expecting it anytime soon unless he deicdes to stop beeing lazy.

They are currently in the "Millenium Falcon Arc" in the "Chapter of Falconia". Think Han Solo is anywhere around? 8)

Ok, I checked out the first three episodes (I decided to check it out after Gavin suggested it), and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it just yet. On one hand I'm not really all that impressed with the fights since there's a lot of freeze-framing type stuff going on. After seeing so many fluid fights that deals with a samurai setting, I've become quite addicted to it, and tend to not like anything slow-ish. (But considering that everyone is in big ### armor, I should be a little more lenient) I've never been a fan of the Medieval times either. All this knight's stuff comes off as boring to me. (A Knight's Tale is bout the only thing I'd really watch these days... I was never a fan of King Arthur)

On the other hand, Griffith is quite the character. Tacticians are some of the best type of characters ever. I love seeing people using their heads. Gatsu's (really?) not a bad character either. A little rash, but still has that bad###ness to him that some other hotheaded characters tend to lack. (Seriously, how can people consider Naruto and Ichigo bad###?) I do hate this one character so far though. I can't remember his name, but
he picked a fight with Gatsu and is harboring hatred over him after he started the whole thing
.

Anyway, I'll continue on with this since I do find Griffith to be a very interesting character.

Corkus. Yeah the best he really manages is that eventually you won't instantly want Guts to bisect him the moment he shows up on screen.

When you're finished the anime Magus I'd highly advise you to read the manga, for a much more complete view of the story,

Yeah, so I've heard that the anime ended in quite the cliffhanger. Speaking of the manga, I did try to read it a while back, but had to stop because of some, um...
sexual thoughts roaming through the head. Causing some side effects and stuff... "coughs"
:animesmil :animeswea

Yeah that's going to happen, although the
butterfly/moth apostle
will cure you of that damn quick. All kidding aside though having watched the anime and then read the manga from the beginning (I'm normally lazy and just keep reading from where I've watched to) it does give you a much more complete version of the story because the anime really only picks two arcs and we never get to see
the Berserker armour
which is the epitome of badass.
