What kind of bishounen do you drool over?

ukoku

This was supposed to be a girls-only topic...unless you guys wanna join too :D

Well,I used to like bishounen who smile a lot, but are actually hiding their sorrow deep inside ,untill Ukoku came into my life, now I like manipulative men who don't seem to care about others, and don't hide anything ((Directly the opposite :therock: ))

Has anyone ever started a thread like this???I don't really know

Well this looks like a fun little topic! I find myself attracted to bishies who are completely opposite of the guys I am attracted to in real life. Well, mostly different than the guys I have been attracted to in real life. I think I like these guys because they are dangerous bad boys where in real life I am married to, well, the guy you take home to meet the parents. I also think that liking anime bad boys is much safer than liking a bad boy in real life. Those ones in real life are trouble and will leave you only with a broken heart. Anime bad boys you can dream about and they don't break your heart! Now here is a couple of examples of the guys I like.

Genjo Sanzo from Saiyuki: Tall thin blonde. He smokes too much, drinks too much and has a terribly negative attitude to top it off.

Eiri Yuki from Gravitation: Tall thin blonde. He smokes too much, drinks too much and has a terribly negative attitude to top it off.

Hmm, I sense a pattern here. What can I say, I love those tall thin blonde bishies with bad attitudes. I really think they just need the right girl to come along. I think I can handle that job. ;)

Well, thinking rationally, I can't really say that I drool over bishounen, but there are boys in anime that I would prefer as far as their personality. :smirk:

Touma Seguchi from Gravitation - He's serious and quiet, takes some time to think before he acts. And he did support (or maybe it's just me) Eiri and Shuichi before Eiri...well...hit some complications. And c'mon, he's in Nittle Grasper!

Shuuichi Minamino a.k.a Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho - He's also serious and quiet. Very wise for his human age of fifteen, he is a strategist. He's a loyal friend, a loving son (he was willing to give up his soul so that his mother could recover from her sickness), and supports his teammates up until the very end.

Ryuichi Sakuma from Gravitation - Backing away from the serious boys, you've gotta love this little freak of nature. He has a lovely voice, and he's not a stuck-up celebrity. And, I just love the fact that he did everything in his power to make Shuichi work harder and feel better. He supported a rival band, and it's cute how childish he can be, yet when it comes to his music, he's very serious.

So I guess I just prefer serious, down-to-earth guys. Too bad I don't really know of any around here... :twitch:

Personally, I'm rather partial to the playful, quirky type. Of course, I also have a soft spot for homocidal maniacs. Give me an attractive male character who neatly integrates those two qualities, and we're good to go. Split personalities also help.

Seishirou Sakurazuka, from Tokyo Babylon and X TV, is the quintessential example of a lovable psychopath. He's heartless, cruel and thoroughly enigmatic, yet possesses a peculiarly flippant sense of humor. Plus, you gotta love the
one-eyed,
cigarette-toting look--and don't forget his signature sunglasses. Very stylish.

Johan Liebert, from Monster, has a kind of angelic (but not effeminate) beauty. What's really cool is that most of Monster's character are very ordinary-looking or else flat-out ugly; think double chins, bulbuous noses, overly rotund waists, sunken eyes, hideous facial hair and so forth. While Johan wouldn't necessarily stand out in a cast packed with bishounen, in Monster his appearance has the same kind of impact--on the other characters and on the viewer--that it would carry in real life. Besides, Johan is the original evil genius, and one of the best anime villains ever. He's not really "quirky," per se, but he does seem to like being subtly theatrical.

Similar bishounen include Okita Souji from Peacemaker Kurogane and Dio Eraclea from Last Exile.

Oh, and Eiri Yuki is definitely one of my all-time favorite male characters, but Panda already covered him. I'll post some more later. This is a fun topic, and I'm glad that it's managed to attract high-quality replies. :)

Panda likes Sanzo???Prepare to get attacked by a mob of angry rampaging fangirls...
Here are the other bishounen I like, besides Ukoku
Cho Hakkai from Saiyuki:Always smiling, the self-appointed "nanny" of the Sanzo-ikkou, has killed 1000 demons and half a village, gorged out his own right eye, has a badass demon side...yup, that's Hakkai for ya
Okita Souji from Peacemaker:Who cares if he's girly???I love his demon side and his PIG!!!!
Nii Jie Ni from SaiyukiHe's Ukoku...enough said
Toshizo Hijikata from Peacemaker:I really don't know why I like him...I just do
The Comedic Trio from Peacemaker:Oh come on!How could you not love the Comedic Trio, Shinpatchi, Heisuke and Sanosuke???
Goujin from Saiyuki Gaiden:Now known as Hakuryu!!!I like Goujin because he's strict, just like Hijikata(so THAT'S why I like Hijikata-sama)
Hibiki Ryouga from Ranma1/2:He's so cute!!!Expecially when he's P-chan(I have this thing about pigs)
Fong Mu Tsu from Ranma1/2:I am NOT going to call him Mousse!!!I like him because of his hair, his duck form and his *very* poor eyesight
Seta Soujirou from Ruruoni Kenshin:He smiles so much , but don't underestimate him, his Shukuchi kicks ***!

I like many types of bishounen, but Ukoku is still my favourite
edit:my reasons for liking those bishounen are too short...

N/A

I'm a straight guy and I intend to stay that way.

I'm just coming in here to say that I hate the pathetic super-romantic bishounens like Mamoru (Tuxedo Mask) and that blond guy from Silent Mobius.

I also hate it when they make guy characters that have almost limitless coolness potential and turn them stupid by making them look like girls. Sesshomaru is a good example of this.

Bloodseeker, I'm also pretty straight, and I understand your concern.
But remember who the series is directed to. Remember who the characters were made for.

Tuxedo Mask wasn't ment to be appealing to you, but to girls. XP

It's apparently trend in Anime that the most attractive guys are the most effeminate. That's why a lot of a Bishounen/J-Rockers look like girls.

I'm not sure why that's popular? Can anybody explain that?
I was always partial to the quiet, friendly, powerful type. Like this guy. He's the best bishi ever. ^^

hey.. he's pretty effeminate too...

Welp, I'm a gay guy. I'm not terribly attracted to pretty-boys...I like guys with masculine looks and/or attitude, and who are really cool people to boot. (I also tend to seek out guys who are like me in a way.)

Therefore it should not surprise you that I drool over...

Sensui, Itsulki, Yûsuke (YYH)

Roy Mustang (FMA)

I used to have a massive thing for #17 from DBZ...hehe.

However, I'm more into looking at real-life men than drawings of them.

Reminds me of a new trend that I've been hearing about over in Japan. I keep on hearing that in some parts, its become the new fashion for guys to dress like girls. Come on guys, have you no pride?! Retain your masculinity, for Christ's sake!

Oh! This is a fun thread! Who doesn't like bishies? :D

My list of favorites would have to be:

Fai D. Flowright and Kurogane from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. They are so funny with each other! (I have the manga..)

Syaoran from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and Card Captors. It's so sweet how he will do anything for Sakura! *sigh*

Inuyasha from you-know-where. I have a tendency to fall for the bad boys in manga usually, and Inuyasha is just awesome. :love2:

Miroku from Inuyasha. Ok, I do occasionally fall for the perv, but Miroku's an exception. ;)

Shuichi from Gravitation. When Shuichi
gets raped in book 6, I nearly cried! I yelled out, "Poor Shuichi-kun!!"
Shuichi's great!

Kamui from X/1999. Face it, he's the all-around angsty pretty boy. What's not to love??

Even though, I haven't seen Fruits Basket (though I pretty much know the basics) I have to say I like Kyou. He reminds me of Inuyasha. heh heh.

I guess I have a broad range of bishies, huh?

EDIT: I forgot Wolfwood from Trigun! My poor Wolfwood, he's so unloved..
When he died, it ruined my day. How come my favorite character has to die??
meh.

Indeed he is. :animesmil

I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but I'm a fan of androgyny. In real life, I tend to be drawn toward uber pretty-boys, and particularly in anime artwork I think that stylization toward femininity is a whole lot more attractive than the opposite. It just holds a strong aesthetic appeal that I very much prefer to the traditional masculine look (although that can work well too).

This is especially true for 2-D art, i.e. manga & anime; I don't need flat drawings to be sexy in a very primal or earthy sense, but I do want them to be beautiful. And combining the loveliest qualities of feminine & masculine beauty means that you're getting the best of both worlds--which, of course, generally turns out better in art than in everyday life.

Right now I'm really digging Akira Touya from Hikaru no Go (the most addictive shounen anime ever!). His rivalry with Hikaru is perhaps the main driving force for the show, and he's also a very charismatic, talented and admirable character. Plus I absolutely love his character design. Those eyes!

I love the kind, caring, smiling, sweet type of guy in anime/mangas. Like... Eichi from FMwS. Just seeing them happy all the time, and always there when they're needed... It's so sweet~ <3 "The type of guy that would make you feel safe if you're with them" is a good way to describe it. :) FMwS readers will know what I'm talking about. >P

I also like the short-tempered guys too. Like Kyo from Fruits Basket. It's those ones that seem all angry on the outside but inside, they're actually very kind.

Truth being though, I don't really "drool" over the guys. O.o They're just my favourites. ^^;

I like different types of guys, but I have 2 faves.

Sesshomaru from Inuyasha, becase I just love him, he keeps his emotions inside. And he protects those few he cares for.

Ed from FMA, because he's funny!! But he can also be serious when its necessary.

And they're both adorable.....lol .

The bishies I like have varying personalities, except from one constant trait that I always look for--concern, even if it is hidden, for other people. Such examples are:

1. Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket
2. Loki from Matantei Loki Ragnarok
3. Larva from Vampire Princess Miyu
4. Inuyasha from Inuyasha
5. Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho
6. Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin
7. Chrno from Chrno Crusade
8. Yukito, Touya, and Syaoran from Card Captor Sakura

The bishonen I love with my heart and soul is Yuki Sohma. He has been through a rough time and he is always caring and nice to people. He is very mature for his age. He is also excellent in sports which is always a plus and he is a brain too so I love him.

Well, this can be fun!

Cho Hakkai from Gensoumaden Saiyuki : He's friendly, he's caring, he's always smiling, but can kick butt!

Seta Soujiro from Rurouni Kenshin : Same like Cho Hakkai! Outside, he may seem innocent, but he can kick butt with his sword! He's so cute! He can be paired up with Kaoru if Kenshin's not around! :animesmil

Yamato "Matt" Ishida from Digimon 01 : He's like a rebel, a quiet loner that cares deeply for his friends and for his little brother. Frankly, he's so cool! I especially like it when he was the lead singer and guitarist of his band.

Kenshin Himara from Rurouni Kenshin : Seriously, he's soooo cool! He can be friendly and kind, but can get serious when its necessary! :animesmil

I know many others, but this is all I can think of! ^_^

I tend to fall for the guy with a bad past and turns our to be somewhat of a gentleman; calm and caring, but knows how to kick some *** when he gets really pissed. My best example: Soichiro Arima from Kare Kano. *sigh* That's defiatly something I want. XD
Another is Akito Hayama from Kodocha... well, okay, he's more on the rough and perverted side. But he can be a real gentleman and be kind when he needs and wants to be.
Those are my main ones... OH MY GOSH! I almost forgot Toya from Ceres: Celestial Legend. Lol.

Oh my. I guess Kazuya Minekura was wrong. Looks like Sha Gojyo ain't much of a ladies' man after all.

Why this crimson-haired, chain-smoking rogue? I've a thing for men with vices. Gambling, smoking, drinking, you name it, he's into it. He's a very naughty fellow, the only character I know who cracks vulgar jokes while fighting 40-foot high shikigamis. Everytime he makes an unexpected appearance, he strikes a pose and says something casual. It's as if nothing, not gods nor vicious demons, can remove him from his zone. [STRIKE]Anything he does, he does for coolness' sake.[/STRIKE] No, looking cool is second nature to him.

Which reminds me of another character who falls into this category: Onizuka Eikichi (nijuuni-sai!). Effortless cool, baby.
