Miyamoto has really used the power of the Gamecube to it's full potential. Everything in these pictures are fully rendered, you can see it in the second to last picture, the one with the grass; every blade of grass is rendered.

That's the thing...the still shots just don't how how gorgeous it really looks...

You need to see it in motion. The animation is incredible. :)

Holy Smokes! Link's face looks much more better from the last time I saw him, and look at the environment he's in, it looks amazing.

Ah... and then theres Fox and his impressive looking furs, just beautiful.

Wario World looks really interesting, its about time he had his own game on a console, makes me wonder if Wario is really the one who disguised as Mario in Mario Sunshine...

Whoa this is just to much and this is only just the beginning of E3, like always Nintendo is just full of great surprises.:)

Holy geez...James, you have really done it with those pics...I drooled and made the crapet wet..

I change my mind about Zelda Gamecube. Those are awsome.

Star Fox looks great.

Mario Sunsine is wicked.

Wario Land is sweet.

I love my Gamecube*runs and hugs it*

sorry I don't wear hats. While I think most of us you didn't like him cel shading it never doubted that the graphics where going to be good. We just liked the more realisitc kind better. Yes they do look nice but I would have prefered the orignal demo he showed.

This is what Zelda is all about.

The images I've provided are the essence of the Zelda series.

They are like A Link to the Past but in 3D...and the sheer personality of the environments is incredible...this game is going to suck you in like no other Zelda game has.

The more realistic game wouldn't have been as good because when you are focusing on realism, you can't create any "non realistic" situations, with regard to physics/controls etc etc...

This style allows for so much more flexibility.

If you're an old school Zelda fan, I don't see how you can't like this style.

The only word that can describe how I feel about those pics begins with "own" and ends with "nage".

And people, if you haven't, go watch the trailers at Nintendo's official e3 page (e3.nintendo.com).

You can only give a valid opinion of a cel-shaded game if you've seen it in motion, trust me on this. The visuals are, as James once said, orgasm inducing.

Well considering i'm 14 I don't think I'm an old school fan lol. But could you please explain what you mean by non realistic situations. I can't think of any off the top of my head that where ever in the other games. And I will buy this game and I'm sure I will love it like I have every other game but the other one just looked so damn cool!

Never doubted Zelda (Celda), and no, I never doubted Miyamoto either. Nintendo rules, and the games just blow everything I have seen in a while out of the water. I first heard about Wario World a while ago, and those images just knocked me out when I saw them.

I can not wait to get ahold of those games, but mostly, I am looking forward to Zelda. Even getting pushed back, I will definitely wait for it. Keep those great pics coming James.

Indeed. :)

If anyone wants to see more, I highly recommend downloading the official trailers. The sound quality is great and the video quality is awesome as well.

Visit http://e3.nintendo.com for more.

I recommend getting the Mario Sunshine and Zelda trailers...both of them blew me away (Mario Sunshine is now up there with Zelda as my most wanted game...the trailer will stun you).

Sorry this may not be right but I remember reading issue three of CUBE magazine and the fur effect was in the screenshots. And the caption underneath was about how this effect so far only appeared in cutscenes not "in real time". If youve found this information and it will be used please tell me where !!!! Because so far I dont think it is being used in real time!!!

I'm not interested in this Zelda game's gfx. I'm more concerned about the gameplay and story. The only thing I know is that Link is out to save his sister. I don't have a gamecube (yet at least) but the only game that has my attention a bit is Metroid Prime. We haven't had a Metroid game in a while and I wanna try this game out. I like how its a 1st person shooter but I wanna see what else we're in store for.

I very much agree with everything that you just said, and am behind you all the way. The Zelda screenshots, though better than what was originally planned out, leave me wanting more. Sure, they are great for cel-shaded, but am positive that GameCube has the potential to create this game, realistic or no realistic environment, in 3 dimensional polygon graphics (think an advanced version of the Nintendo 64 Zeldas visual-wise) without changing the surface of the game, including that of the fun factor, gameplay, and atmosphere in general. But then, the graphics arn't the only thing I'm worried about. In fact, the graphics I just proposed are nice, but not necessary. What I really want from the newest Zelda game is a great story line and gameplay that can't be rivaled. I want it to stay close to the designs of the previous games, but not be limited to, and introduce new features, like how Link must save his sister. Which makes us wonder, will it even be called Zelda? And if so, why?

I have to hand it to you James, those pictures taken of the newest Star Fox games are enough to grap anyone's attention. Even the Wario game looks impressive in it's GameCube package. But that's the thing with still frames, it doesn't portray the way the game opperates, which can be very misleading to a game that has good visual effects, but bad gameplay. I plan to download the trailers for a better feel to each atmosphere, and I recommend that everyone does the same. Other-wise, you would be merely basing your opinions of the games on their visuals, and cannot truly call yourself a gamer. Oh well, your choice.

The game is in poligons. And you are doing the right thing by downloading the trailers, since an opinion on a cel-shaded game can't be valid unless after you've seen the game in motion.
I have yet to see someone not be impressed by the Lava Monster in the video...

And it would be nice to see another realistic Zelda game, but I just can't picture this one without cel-shading. Maybe in a later game...

Oh yeah, of course the GameCube is capable of creating the game with a more "traditional" look. But, the unique new cel-shaded look ain't half bad. I bet that the lava monster scene that Smokey Joe mentioned wouldn't look nearly as impressive with "regular" polygonal graphics."

Miyamoto just wanted to give us something different, that's all. Looking at Link's newest adventure sure won't be boring. The lighting effects are second to none. Very impressive stuff. Plus, if you're a Zelda fan, you'll love the more "old school" look.

Ha, Like I mentioned earlier, I'm more satisfied with this look than Mario Sunshine's ho-hum appearance.

Yeah, gameplay is very important. But, you don't need to worry about it. The game is very similar to the N64 titles. The inventory setup is even similar. Just take a look at the top right of the screen shots. Furthermore, I read before that elements of stealth have been thrown in.

Miyamoto is always very reliable with his projects in terms of providing a gameplay experience like no other. I'm not really impressed with the whole saving his sister bit though. It's just like saving Zelda, but it's a different female. Why not something more original? (rhetorical question)

I won't talk about the GCN Zelda game here, because I've already talked about it in the E3 thread in the Zelda Forum... But I will talk about the other games...

First off, Super Mario Sunshine... In my oppinion, this game is looking great... It looks like they've added a lot more gameplay elements to it than I had originally thought, especially with the different uses of the water tank. That extra little boost in your jump, by squirting water down in midair, looks like it will be very useful. It also looks like there will be lots of places to use the Wall Kick, which is my favorite move in Super Mario 64 (I love that maze in Rainbow Ride). For a little while I was afraid that this game would be really similiar to Super Mario 64, but it's looking like it will be different enough that it won't be practically the same thing, while remaining close enough to have that special "Mario game feel" to it. ...One thing I just can't get used to, though, is Mario's short-sleave shirt... It just doesn't look right... :twitch:

Next up, Star Fox Adventures... Hopefully it won't be delayed again, LOL... This game just keeps looking better and better everytime I see it! I know graphics don't really matter all that much, but dang! Those fur effects are so dang good! (Oh, and the last I heard, it was going to be real time, not just it cut-scenes). As for the rest of the game, it's also looking good. This is actually something I've wanted for awhile now... A mix between a Zelda type game, and a Star Fox type game... I've played Star Fox 64, and I liked it, but a whole game of the space shooter missions is too much for me. A good adventure/RPG game with space shooter levels mixed in would be perfect, and that's what this game is! I'm looking forward to it a lot, if not as much as Zelda, Mario, and Metroid...

Last but hopefully not least, Wario World... Although I haven't played the Game Boy games much, I kind of got the feel of them... I played Wario Land II some, and it was fun. A little too easy, in my oppinion, but fun. If this game is like a 3D version of the Game Boy games, I'll most likely enjoy it. From the trailer it looked a lot like the game Boy games in 3D, so I don't think it's going to be too different, but we'll just have to wait and see. The graphics looked nice and smooth, just like Super Mario Sunshine, and the animation was just as good. It looked like there were large indoor areas, which I like, and also large outdoor areas, which are even better! Exploring is one of my favorite parts in 3D platformers, so I really like huge areas to wander around in. Also, it looked like there was a wide variety of moves, such as spinning an enemy around by its feet, into other enemies. I've always wanted to do that, LOL.

Yes, well, I would have written realistic, but it would have looked quite strange in the fact that I already wrote "realistic" twice a few words back, and I hoped people would understand what I ment when I said "polygons." And, in case they didn't, I even wrote "(think an advanced version of the Nintendo 64 Zeldas visual-wise)." I'm sorry if I confused you in any way.

Yes, heh, I thought the same thing when I first heard about it. I merely wanted to present an example, which I hope they expand with extras more than that. I have high hopes for this game, and hope that Miyamoto doesn't let me and the rest of the world down.
