1.
Almost all the other gundam serris had a episode called: "It is called gundam"
Uh no o_O... The first episode of Gundam SEED was entitled "A False Piece", (atleast that was teh fansub translation) nowhere was there anything remotely similar to "it is called Gundam". And while SEED starts out as a mixture of various Gundam series (it mainly borrows off of the Original Series and follows more or less the same plot line with a few interesting twists and turns here and there) it changes and continues to get better as it progresses up until around episode 34 or so o_O when blankety blank happens and while the series remains interesting there is something very ironic that occurs and that kind of kills the momentum and "realism" factor of the entire series . Anyway obvious influences in the mecha designs will also become apparent such as how the GINNs & DINNs are based off the original Zakus/Zaku IIs, etc. etc.
2. Double posting isn't allowed in this forum so I advise you to delete your second post before a moderator does =O. Anyway i'm assuming you download anime if you've already seen all of Gundam SEED and Naruto (or you import/buy HK DVDs) correct? Hmmm... Well one anime that has everything you listed below from the emotional scene to the easy to relate to characters to the medievel setting is Escaflowne, best of all (atleast in my opinion ) it has a good dosage of mecha thrown into the mix as well. Escaflowne is really one of my favorite animes probably second to Rurouni Kenshin. It's got a kind of weird story at the start but it really grows into a great thing. The action scenes in it are also nicely done and the mecha designs are quite original. Since it might be hard to find this anime on the internet i'd reccomend buying it instead. Yeah you may not want to fork over all the money for the box set, so you could always go with the Visions of Escaflowne movie =). You should also check out some of the Macross series, a good starter would be Macross Plus. Then if you find you like that alot and are able to bare horrid old school animation check out the original macross series. Cowboy Bebop isnt on your list either so you might want to give that a shot, and one anime i'm particular fond of is Full Metal Alchemist :p. Although if your looking for something similar in theme to Rurouni Kenshin look at PeaceMaker Kurogane.
3. Thank you for all the compliments =)
Oh BTW, do you script your website layouts too? Or do you just make the layout?
Normally I do script all my layouts because when I tell other people to they don't put the time or effort or just don't know/figure out how to script the layout EXACTLY how I want it to be . Although my scripting skills do blow and I use frontpage for everything x__X. And Baron thanks for pointing out those errors =P, I'll fix those at a later date. I figure i'll just finish one layout then worry about the other. As for the "www" that's more of just to take up a little bit of room before the words that read "unrealplaneet". The way I kind of see it is the ".net" kind of unbalances the text, so in order to equal the equation you put "www" before and ".net" after. Errr... I hope you understood that because i'm not sure if I did . *last thing FMA does roX0rxz*
4. While I got bored of my Full Metal Alchemist layout and have put it on hold, I started working on a layout for a Unreal Tournament clan my friend was going to start... Only now he's not sure if he want's to start it. So if that's the case i'll change the layout into an anime layout and give it to someone else . I actually like the layout itself it's dark and spacy unlike most of my other layouts, and while I'm not a big fan of UT i'd have to say the UT layout looks better than the anime version because the stock image has more of a gritty space feel and looks better with the planet. Anyway since i'm only going to get about 1 reply what's the point in going on :p? Here are the two layouts --->
5. Typography is my favorite thing to do  but that's besides the point... Basically I don't like the layout your using alot of different fonts and not achieving much with them. On top of that your content space is quite small =\. The layout just kind of sits there as well there's not much to marvel at =O. That doesn't mean you need to add some fancy banner it just means you need to do something attractive throughout the layout. Something that makes it unique yet easy on the eyes, and easy to navigate! :p
6. I reccomend trying the planet tutorial as well, whiel I just started tooling with it and am trying to figure out ways to make it better/different from the tutorial i've been able to incorporate the planet and my own starfield into this one layout i'm making for a Unreal Tournament Clan.
7. If there was more color and blending those big white stars and their surrounding glow could pass as a good nebula for a space piece =O. Really yeah less big stars more little stars, and make your image bigger =\. It's hard to critique something so small =O! Also you might find it easier to make a larger space image because space is one big place and atleast I have found rather than confine it to something small the bigger you make it the more natural the piece feels =).
8. The Initial D OSTs contains some amazing pieces of music and atleast in my book ranks as the king of anime OSTs =), (and among those top OSTs the Kenshin soundtrack would be there as well >_>). While I could go on and on about that, some other songs from animes that I really like and reccomend you download are "Barairo no Sekai" by Pierrot (from the Getbackers Anime, 2nd opening) and"Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line" (I forget who it's by but it's the opening to Chrno Crusade. And as if none of you could see this coming I am starting to like the Full Metal Alchemist soundtrack more and more o_O. While originally many of the songs came off as too tacky and generic for my tastes the more I listen to them the more i'm liking them rather than hating them. I'll post the name of the 3rd opening once I find out what it is because that's another song I reccomend you all download x_X... Eh but first i gotta find it myself >__>'' *edit* song name = "Undo" by Cool Joke.
9. Oy thanks for the compliments. As for Edward's hair yeah your right I probably should take off the black outline the biggest thing with that though is that, that would require me to re-crop the image from the original scan that I have (not a very hard task because most of the BG on the original image is an off white ). Basically when I went through and cropped out the image I did it very sloppily and then by using the stroke blending mode I made it so that everything was "stroked" inside by 1 thus providing a nice black outline for the image :P. Anyway while I continue to work on this here's another signature I made for myself. Yes the stock is of Edward-kun from Full Metal Alchemist... again x_X... *the image was created mostly with custom brushes and the eraser tool*
10. Hmmm while once again I like the fact that your 3D actually has a defined shape and isn't just random abstract. Your 2D leaves ALOT to be desired =\. Mainly the orange bar that runs across the bottom and all that microtype turn me off x_X. Also your starfield could use some work =P. Try using the starfield and planet tutorial found on the following website to jazz up your 2D and give it a more spacey feel ---> http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tutorials.html
11.
With graphics/designment I think its more likely practice than talent, since you just need a good program and thats it.
That's not the least bit true. You need more than a "good program" to be good at web designing. It really depends on white type of computer graphics your talking about some require more practice than they do talent while others it's the opposite. Take Digital Painting for example just having a good programming and practicing won't neccessarily make you good at it. What I can say atleast in most digital art rather than practicing alot or being talented you need to be creative and see things before they are finished. And KAOS work on your grammar bud o_O;
12. A talking cat now that was odd -_o... Odd and something that i'm not really liking... I mean talking Dolphin in robotic suit find I can dig that x_X... But a talking cat is just plain weird. Why do I have a feeling that nothing more than a medicore reason as to why the cat can talk will be explained either -__-? Either way I just don't see the point of a talking cat... Anyway while I agree with you that it is anyone's guess who the main antagonist is going to end up being it most likely will not be the shady fellow who purchased the desiccant. I find it kind of odd though how besides the fact that Gram and Vess are somehow related and sooner or later will have an encounter with one another we really are given no ideas as to what is going to happen next in the series -_o. I hope they present us with sometype of problem soon just for the sake of progressing the main storyline. Then again it will probably take a few more episodes of building up characters and character relationships before anything major happens in the big scheme of things . And oh yeah i'd also haveto second the theory about Yagami's dark/tragic past :P. I'm also wondering if there is a hidden meaning behind him being called "Yagami the Reaper" because from the way he's acted so far (to Gram and the others) he doesn't seem like a pyscho killing obsessed guy. Although there was the one part in the first episode where he admitted that he doesn't know how to hold back, yet that still doesn't really make him deserving of the name "Reaper" which atleast in my mind has a sort of evil-pyscho notation that goes along with it. Last thing though... Why did they have to name Gram's Round Buckler "Hope" couldn't it have a pimped name like Yagami's Round Buckler "Wing of Samurai" (*** How do you highlight the text to hide potential spoilers? ***) Type [spoiler*]text
, but without the asterisk. ~Dagger~
13. While I do enjoy sitting at home and doing nothing I figured it's time I post something that i'm working on x__X... It'll probably end up being a piece I never finish but whoopie it's Spring Break so who cares . Anyway the image is of a layout I am creating for a Full Metal Alchemist (Anime + Manga series) website. Basically while there's no really graphical inspiration for it I plan on running it somewhat like MAHQ where I give an episode by episode summary + analysis/opinion of the series. I've always found those kind of reviews more helpful and enjoyable for people looking to get into a series or people who like a series but just need some clarification of what's really going on. The layout itself is far from done, but the "grass" was made using the standard grass brushes that come with photoshop 7.0. As for the clouds (I hope they look like clouds x_X) I airbrushed those in then smeared them around with the smudge tool. I'll most likely end up going back to the text and changing it around a bit (or atleast tinker with the outline and really at the current moment the rest of the layout is up in the air =P. I have no idea what i'm going to do with the center piece and whether or not I am even going to keep that weird side bar. Anyway comments and criticism and cookies if you please :p...
14.
...Secondly we have Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta which was made a year after the original Gundam Series was released... it is being released directly onto DVD, at least what I have gathered from www.mahq.net I think its a good move to directly release this series on DVD because if it were to air on CN at all it would have to air on Adult Swim. And finally the creme de la creme, Mobile Suit Gundam Formula 91 is a full length movie that will be released in theaters and then onto DVD, Formula 91 is another UC gundam movie that was very popular and was next to last of the UC timeline gundam sagas, it was later followed by the 51-51 (not sure) episode series Victory Gundam.
I'd have to agree i've only seen up to episode 23 of Z-Gundam (I was downloading it but originally stopped because downloading it off of Kazaa was too much of a hastle and buying the DVDs will probably end up being more conveniant) but if they were to show it on CN and what not they'd have to totally destroy it -_o... Yeah we've all read about how it's one of the more darker Gundam series but it's also one of the more complex series as well =O. I really don't think i'll be able to live with any type of dubbing though when there's that much emotion in one anime it's usually hard for these american voice actors to hit the nail on the head. As for Gundam F91 i've downloaded a music video with clips from it andplayed a couple of SNES rom based games back in the day, and it seemed "pretty okay" but most Gundam movies tend to be lacking in one way or another =\. It'll still be nice to finally see the whole thing in re-tooled animation =)! And yeah V-Gundam was 51 episodes and I think it's starting to be (re?)released in the fansub community now -_o... Not sure but i've seen links for it on AnimeSuki.
15. Yes random... But cool =O! Especially the Dolphin that was in the robotic suit... Well wait that was the beginning -_o... Anyway it'll be interesting to see what role the dolphin plays in the series, i'm guessing it'll end up being more of a PenPen comic relief character.
The government pilots look somewhat older, especially Vestemona. I have to admit, I'm hoping that she doesn't become any kind of primary love interest.... she's just a bit too disagreeable for my tastes.
I'd have to agree her attitude was just -_o "blah". I was kind of surprised that Captain (Rich? Was it) let her push him around without much of a fight. If this ends up being like most mecha series Vestemona will probably get some sort of punishment from her superiors =P. Most likely though I just have a feeling that, this one incident will probably be forgotten and the series will move on... Also with the Pirates being the good guys and the government being the "bad guys" while that seems true right now (and probably is) really after episode one were kind of left wondering... why? The pirates intentions are never really explained and the government/military doesn't seem to be especially cruel or mean... Considering the fact they were giving out food to the workers =P. Most likely the terraforming of Mars has something to do with a military hidden agenda or something -_o... Or atleast that's what i'm speculating... Also what was up with that one really pale looking chick in the Aurora o_O? Looked like a fish lady or something x_X.
16. I just downloaded and finished watching Kenran Butousai episode #1 today ^_^. The series really has alot going for it and it's nice to see some mecha battles without the big lasers for a change. I really liked the way how Gram ended up in his Round Buckler it brought back memories of one of the first animes I ever saw called "Ninja Robots". Yagami also seems to be your typical bad_***** which is cool =P. Really the biggest problem I had with the series after the first episode were the opening and ending themes I don't really think they set a tone for what the first episode brought to the table :P. I also found it a little odd how we were thrust right into the thick of things, yes it's nice in someways but it also seemed a little rushed =\. Anyway this is a nice anime series and the CG in it isn't bad so I think i'll continue watching this baby and see how it plays out =).
17. Nope hate to dissapoint you Tom "Chrno Crusade" is in no way whatsoever related to "Chrono Trigger". There is a Chrono Trigger OVA that is being subbed though -_O or atleast it was being subbed the last time i checked. I never bothered to check it to AnimeSuki.com and search in their fansub database for the Chrono Trigger OVA and you'll find a link to groups subbing it from there.
18.
Episode 1 follows a typical trajectory. Through no fault of his own, Gram--a seemingly ordinary teenager--ends up caught in the midst of an epic battle and must fight to save his life. Yet few similar anime, except perhaps Full Metal Panic, bother to explain why a regular boy would make such a brilliant mecha pilot. Kenran does this while hinting at mysteries yet to be revealed.
*Reffering to part in bold* Actually most pure mecha series do try to explain why the pilot is good at piloting his mecha most of the time it originally comes across as they are just "gifted" people then later on in the series we find out why they are really the way they are :P. Take Amuro Ray and Kira Yamato from the Gundam Series for example. But anyway... I actually have never heard of this series -_o... Who's it being subbed by? I'll give it a try afterall If it's a mecha series i have to give it a go x___X...
19.
It'll be changed to Chrono Crusade, haha
Has that been released in an official press release yet -_o? Because if so then that totally sucks the cock. I did manage to catch the first few episodes of Chrno Crusade and was instantly drawn in the Opening with the song "Pleasure Line" was really well done -_o. And the series itself had alot going for it, in some ways it also reminded me of the first anime I ever saw Tekkaman Blade. While I did like the series alot though i'm not so sure i'm going to download it now that it has been licensed I did that with the final episodes of Gundam SEED -_o but considering there were only about 3-4 eps left out of the total 50 that is kind of understandable >___>. Anyway it's probably best to just wait for the series to be released officially now =\.
20.
Well I dunno what happened to my ArgolisDragon account, but why isn't the same action being taken against Deathbug. He's going around acting like a hotshot and yet while someone is screwing around with my account, Deathbug is just ignored. Figures this place has a staff that relies on favoritism to make their decisions. Anyway, I didn't flame him, I posted my opinion.
Shut up. Thank you. Anyway... I just recently saw an episode of Duel Masters (something I will never do again)... and While it is not a "cheap imitation of Yu-Gi-Oh" it is a horrible anime series. From what i've read the game was originally played just like Magic the Gathering and then was switched over to this "Duel Masters" format therefore how can it be a copy of of Yu-Gi-Oh -_o... Both series revolve around card games, have horrible animation, voice-acting on par with a 1st grade play, etc., etc. now that doesn't make one series a copy off of the other :P. Both games are still played differently and both games require a different mind set and different strategies to play properly. Yet despite a similarity between the name "Duel Monsters" and "Duel masters" I really can't see what other relevant similarities you all are drawing :P. So what the guys have spikey hair... So does just about every other anime character out there -_o. Oh yes I should mention though part of the reason why I dislike Duel Masters is because from the one episode I saw I was unable to really figure out how the game worked -___- because of that I honestly don't see this series lasting that long in the U.S. while the card game will probably become another trend just like Yu-Gi-Oh.
21. The best Co-Op military FPS is definatly BF 1942. While I personally prefer Counter-Strike because of the dated graphics and gameplay engine there are really just too many things that can go wrong in CS... That's kind of besides the point but the truth is in CS while if your playing against a group of good players Teamwork is needed you can stilll find a way to get by without it if you have a "super 1337" player on your team :P. Also the amount of teamwork you use is somewhat limited because of the limited terrain in Counter-Strike. "Everyone Rush Right", "Cover Me" and a few more familiar phrases are all your really going to hear. Never the less it's a great game that will keep you entertained for months x__X.
22. Mmmmm... so many good games =). The Legend of Zelda and Duck Hunt obviousley rank among the top of my list, the Duck Tales and Chip and Dale games were also pretty entertaining =). But nothing beats the greatness of Contra my friends and I used to spend hours playing Contra and surprisingly it never got old -_o. The original Contra is alot better than the newer ones so for anyone who plans on playing Contra try playing the original then moving on up so you get a better appreciation of what the game is really about.
23. Mmmmm live action goodness... wait did i say goodness -_o I meant horror... Just look at (Gundam) G-Savior a CG and Live-Action mix =O... horrific results... all though there is a live action Initial D movie in the works ^_^ I honestly hope that it doesn't turn out all that bad and kind of put the street racing back into street racing instead of taking it out chewing it up and then spitting it back out like Fast and the Furious (and 2Fast 2Furious) did. It could possibly work well too because of the fact that all of the characters in Initial D are Japanese and the cars used are japanese manufactured cars :P. On the other hand finding real drifters to pull off some of the drifting techniques could be pretty dang hard so i wouldn't be surprised if they resort to cheap movie special effects ='|.
24.
Ya know, it still kinda ticks me that Toonami got Gundam Seed. I mean Toonami. They're gonna butcher it to Hades and back. SEED is really the most "fanservicey" of really all the Gundam series. In my opinion SEED should really be on Adult Swim, just like how Rurouni Kenshin really should've been on Adult Swim.
Taking out the fanservice really wouldn't do anything significant to the anime... if anything it would possibly better it so the problem really does not lie in that... Also the series on Adult Swim while supposedly always "uncut" you should open your eyes and be aware that this is not always the case =\ quite sad actually but you are right in that showing it on AS would be a better idea in that less editing would have to be done. Then again by the people over at CN SEED is nothing more than another money making ploy. Honestly the more i've read about Gundam SEED and the probable edits that will be made to it the less I want to see this Cartoon Network Version -_o. I might just watch and tape episodes 4-18 because although i've seen them they are currently the only SEED episodes i don't have on my pc ='| but still I doubt even that... Anyway some of the main changes i'm worried about are the name changes to some of the characters and mobile suits that will probably occur -_o... eh then there's also the usual blood, sex, and drug edits that will be taken out (all of which are in Gundam SEED in some form of another). Basically I guess my main complaint really comes in the fact that if they take out all the "gruesome" war scenes and blood and guts SEED will really lose what it was intended to do... which was simply to create a "realistic" depiction of how in war everyone suffers and how there really are no "good" and "bad" guys :P. Just my two cents though... Maybe i'm just overexaggerating how the dubbed version will end up being, but I do reccomend the series to any anime fan although don't expect to get blown away right from the get go as the series starts off somewhat slow but eventually builds up into an enjoyable experience.
25. I've been looking forward to Samurai Champloo as well while to be honest I wasn't that impressed with Cowboy Bebop (i'm very slowly watching the series partly because I find it boring at times -_-) the fact that Samurai Champloo is about Samurais and Champloo? (what ever the hell Champloo is... main character's name i'm guessing?) this will definatly be one series i'll give a go. As for other anime series i'm looking forward too -_o... None really... I've been out of the loop lately so i'm completly oblivious to what's going on x__X but he supposedly an Initial D Fourth Stage is in the works ^_^. And from what i read in Dagger's post Bakuretsu Tenshi might be an anime for me -_o... Although... The entire thing where we get a bunch of girls in giant robots is really boring me mainly because of the excessive amount of fanservice that's thrown in... But then again >___> if Bakuretsu Tenshi turns out to be anything similar to the other great Gonozo production Full Metal Panic i'll definatly end up watching this series as well :P. Oh yeah no one's really mentioning it anymore but Gundam SEED is finally coming mainstream this spring :P. Since I just managed to get the remaining episodes off of my brother's PC last weekend i'm currently busy finishing that up again and it just dawned upon me that it actually is quite an emotional anime contrary to what many people have said about SEED being aimed at a younger audeince -_o... what were they smoking...
