1. Shinto is not Christian... My post was mocking the person who suggested anime that are violent but have hints of Christianity in them.
 2. If you're gonna count any anime that has a church in it, throw in Hellsing. I'm sure your mom would love you watching that. haha Chrno Crusade has a lot of blood and killing in it even though the main character is a nun. I'm sure Christian mothers wouldn't want their poor little children being exposed to that kind of stuff.
 3. There are over 150 chapters in Japan right now and I think 3 or so volumes have been fully translated and released by Viz in America. There ya go. I thought a big fan would know that sort of stuff :p
 4. Shut it, Azure. If you didn't notice I was posting about the ANBU/AKeep release of episode 2 and planned to add more into my post after I saw it if no one else posted... My router was never configured and I don't know anything about doing it so it'll probably stay that way unless someone else does. Sorry I don't know everything about computers, your 133tness. And as an added note, I watch Adult Swim as well as download anime. I don't think I'm better than anyone just because I watch fansubs... No wonder I don't like you anymore. You are the one that sounds like the 1337 anime viewer by trying to scold me. :( Anyway... I watched the second episode this morning before going to class. It made a little more sense with the sub-titles but the raw wasn't hard to follow at all. I didn't pick up from the raw that Orihime
lived by herself because she has no family anymore.
Oh and the glove thing that Rukia does is really cool. haha The ending song is starting to grow on me. I don't like the beginning part where she sings in English, though. It sounds unnatural...
 5. [ANBU/AKeep] Bleach 02 is now out. I'm currently downloading it, but it probably won't be done for about 2 hours so I'll have to catch it tomorrow before class. *kicks router for not giving me high BT speeds*
 6. I just finished watching the raw version (no sub-titles) of episode 2 and it was just as cool as the first one. We get to see a lot of Ichigo's classmates like Chad, two other boys, Orihime, and Tatsuki. The episode is mostly about
Orihime's dead brother's (at least I think he's her brother) soul gets turned into a hollow by some creepy huge thing and he comes after Ichigo.
This is gonna spill over onto the 3rd episode a bit (maybe more) from what I see in the preview for the next one. I'll write more after I see it with sub-titles. EDIT: [Lunar] Bleach 02 is out. I'm gonna wait until I'm done with classes and hopefully [AKeep/ANBU] will be out by then.
 7. SaiyaMan now has the raw of Bleach 02 being that it is Tuesday. I've never downloaded a raw episode before, but for some reason I am. O_o I have since read the first chapter of the manga after seeing the first episode. I thought it was really weird that the skateboarders at the beginning could see the little dead girl when Ichigo pointed to her. I'm kinda glad they took that out, but they also removed the blood from the little girl's head for the anime. It was strange how they took Isshin out of the episode after he and Ichigo fought. He and Yuzu came into Ichigo's room while Rukia was in there, but that was all taken out. The next morning, Isshin didn't leave for the day, he was actually attacked by the hollow and almost killed. Weird. I still think the switch they did with Karin and Yuzu made more sense, though. Mostly good changes. :) Can't wait for this to finish and then for a subbed version to be released.
 8.
well first off, in the manga there were never any random explosions caused by the hollows to cause an upstir in the town. in fact throughout the entire course of the manga, most common people in towns were oblivious to the existance of hollows or any actions associated with them. and there was only 1 hollow as well in the beginning, not 2 and it was the one that attacked the kurosaki house. another thing that bothered me, was in the manga, it was karin who came up to ichigo's room to warn him, not yuzu. i dont see why they would change something like that. and when i say "the animation looks a bit off" i mean the art in general, most of the characters look much different then they did, especially ichigo (mainly his face just looks kinda wierd). its as if Kubotite does not have a role in the artwork anymore. as for the music, the intro music was fine i like Orange Range. but some of the music during the episode bothered me, especially when ichi was fighting the hollow, it really just didnt fit. maybe its just me, but being a long time fan of Bleach, i just feel that the show isnt quite living up to my expectations.
I just read somewhere about these little changes that you mentioned and they were saying that it made sense to switch Yuzu and Karin at the end. The Hollow was looking for someone with strong spirit energy, right? Well, it was stated by the two girls themselves that Karin has more than Yuzu so why would the Hollow go after the weaker one? For the explosions, the people had no idea what was going on. They didn't know that there were ghosts wrecking the buildings and that's why they were calling them explosions in the first place. No problems there. I agree with you on that one song like I said before. It doesn't fit in with the show, but at least the rest of the music is good. I really like that song that was playing when Rukia came in Ichigo's window and the opening is great. Animation-wise, I have no complaints. Everything looks good to me. Maybe you're just paying too close attention??? :) Although he most likely has nothing to do with the artwork, KuboTite probably has more say in the anime than most mangaka do on the anime adaptations of their work. Did you know that he is the voice of Kon, the little bear guy? For all we know, he may be the reason that those changes were made. People have a problem with anime directors changing little parts of the manga or adding stuff in and I don't see the point in getting all worked up about it.
 9.
hmmm well i've been reading the manga for over a year now, and i just watched the first episode and i have to say that i was seriously disappointed. to me the animation looks a bit off and whoever does the music should be shot in the face.....twice. and its only the first episode yet so many things have changed from the core story of the manga. i hope that it gets better as the show goes on.
What exactly do you mean about so many things have changed from the core story?? All you mentioned were the animation and the music, both of which aren't in manga... Care to explain yourself better?
 10. I forgot that most of the posters were Adult Swim watchers... woops! I've now watched both the Lunar and ANBU/AKeep version and I must say that ANBU/AKeep definitely has my preference. The only thing that I don't like is that they translate Shinigami as "Soul Reaper"... which isn't even close to the real translation of "god of death." Surprisingly enough, the opening theme has really grown on me which is good since I'll be listening to it at least 3 times a week. =P I still don't really like the ending, though. The English part at the beginning just doesn't sound right for some reason... Then there's that song that they had playing during the promo that I find terrible. It was playing during this episode close to the end behind many sound effects and yelling. It reminds me of corny late 80s/early 90s kids mystery music. Maybe something you'd find in the dubbed YYH or even Scooby Doo... ugh Like you said, Dagger, the comedy is great. Ichigo and his father's fight had me cracking up over and over again. The way Ichi kicks people in such close quarters is hilarious. Also, those little drawings that Rukia had drawn out for Ichi were hilarous, especially when Ichigo
said they sucked and she had the -_- face
. I think the funniest part of the whole episode, though, was when
Rukia sent that male Plus to Soul Society with the touch of her hilt. The "haa~" noise that he made makes me laugh hysterically everytime I watch the episode
. Oh, and did you notice how the two Hollow looked a bit too much like Ikari Shinji's Evangelion Unit 01? The character design and animation so far have been great. Ichigo is a very cool-looking character... if I was a cosplayer, he would definitely be on the top of my list to go as. Another boy that will be introduced later, named Uryuu, looks eerily like Jin from Samurai Champloo and will have the voice of Sasuke from Naruto. Not a bad combo haha. For animation, the opening sequence is very well done with bright colors and some kind of 2D CGI (when the camera flies to the different characters and when it's circling Ichigo). I also really love how they draw the lines thicker when the character is close to the camera, too, similar to how it's done in Champloo. It gives it a lot of style. :) I'm impatiently awaiting the next release.
 11. :Repost: Wow, Dagger, thanks for the knowledge! Looks like I'll be getting ANBU/A-Keep since I already know that they work well together. Too bad Samurai 7 got licensed. T_T ----- Well, Lunar looks to be the first group to release episode 1 of Bleach. I'm gonna download it as soon as I can clear up some space for it. EDIT: Ok I watched it and it was even better than I expected. The opening and ending themes aren't that great, but I can deal. EDIT 2: ANBU/Akeep have now released their version of Bleach 1 so I deleted Lunar's and am now getting this one. I just don't like how Lunar puts all kinds of slang in their subs. Same thing that turned me away from their Samurai 7 subs. (OB has gotten really slow... no one posts anymore)
 12. Bleach started in Japan today. This is an anime that I've been looking forward to since they announced it was coming to TV. I think the manga is in Shounen Jump so I was surprised that there aren't any threads about it here. Well, Bleach is about a 15 year-old boy named Ichigo that can see ghosts. He meets Kuchiki Rukia, a shinigami, one day and her powers are accidentally transferred to Ichigo. Then the two of them begin their journey. I just downloaded the promo on BitTorrent and the animation, done by Studio Pierrot, looks pretty good, but the music they have playing is horrendous. Most of you probably know where you can find this... This anime reminds me of Yu Yu Hakusho and The Sixth Sense wrapped up in one. A lot of people are saying it's better than Naruto also, which could be a big plus for me since I love Naruto. Anyone plan on checking out Bleach when it gets subbed? By the way, does anyone know of any groups that are going to sub it? Useful Links: Official Bleach Site | Studio Pierrot's Bleach Site | TV Tokyo's Bleach Site
 13. Sorry, but that looks like the dumbest thing I've ever seen. The character design looks like a 6 year-old's fan art. They're trying to make it sound all cool by saying "God's army of soldiers," but I'm sure all that means is people who belive in God, trying to force their beliefs on others. These people are from New York anyway. This isn't anime, the religion fanatics are just trying to capitalize on anime's recent success in America.
 14. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=51 That page shows every anime he ever had anything to do with, presumably. The more important ones in that list would be ones that say he's the director or producer.
 15. I just finished watching episode 7. The first half looked terrible. I was sitting here hoping that they didn't draw the whole episode like that. Most likely, it was drawn to look this way to show how care-free the town was with their "no-swords" policy. In actuality, it looked like careless animation done by a child. I've seen other things animated like this and I hated them, too. They changed the opening animation. I must admit that I like it a lot better. It would be nice if they change the ending animation as well. The theme songs are still good, though. ;) So Shichirouji was introduced. There are too many good characters in Samurai 7 (cough... except Kikuchiyo). I noticed they started calling Maro "Ayamaro" all of a sudden with this episode. Weird. I'll edit this or post again after I see episode 8 tomorrow.
 16. Figures I'm not familiar with most of those voice actors. The guy who did Kaworu and Son Goku... hmmm... I hate Goku's voice from Saiyuki. Maybe he won't be so annoying in PMK, playing Shinpachi. The other VA I know is Luci Christian in Abenobashi. I'm not sure about her as Tetsunosuke since I've only heard her speak with a southern (supposedly Osakan) accent. Hakkai's VA as Okita Souji is good, I guess. Hakkai's English VA isn't quite as girly sounding as the Japanese VA in PMK, though. As long as Suzu and Susumu have excellent English voice actors , I'll be happy. Those two are my favorite characters. And Saizou better still say "poogi poogi"! Are they really dropping "Kurogane" from the title? That's terrible terrible news if it's true.
 17. Kikuchiyo is definitely
not dead.
It makes me wonder if he was ever human. You know how ( I think it was Maro who said it) the Nobuseri were once humans that were turned into giant machines. Interesting... I'm also wondering why Ukyou hates machine samurai so much. If you go to the official site, the Nobuseri actually have names: Kaminari, Benikumo, Youhei, and Yakan. I read Okita's post before watching episode 6 and I was stunned for a bit. So while I was watching the episode, I was waiting for
the moment when Katsushirou would be killed... and it ended up being Kikuchiyo instead
Phew! I don't like
Kikuchiyo
all that much so it wouldn't matter to me if that does happen. The Kambei and Hyougo fight was pretty cool while it lasted. The ball-grabbing thing was a little freaky. I have a feeling that I know who
killed the Imperial Envoy.
I'm betting that it was Kyuuzou without a doubt. I don't really know why, but it's gotta be him.
 18. I got pretty interested in Otogizoushi when they first reported about it on AnimeNewsNetwork. The character designs looked really neat but I knew next to nothing about the story. Since I love Samurai 7 and Samurai Champloo, I'm definitely going to be downloading this one (and will be desperately looking for more space on my computer). I don't know how well Anime-Kraze does on their subs since I've never downloaded anything from them... do you know of any other groups that sub/are planning to sub Otogizoushi? EDIT: I found this summary from Production I.G.'s site which makes me much more interested:
It is 972 A.D., the middle of the Heian Era in ancient Japan? Kyoto, the capital of the country, is suffering serious famine and widespread disease. But to make the chaotic situation even worse, samurai and onmyoji are continuing their selfish strife for supremacy of political power. Unable to overlook the calamity any longer, the Imperial Court orders Minamoto no Raiko, a samurai well-known for his archery skills, to seek out a legendary gem said to hold mysterious power to save the world. But Raiko himself also falls ill. So instead, the youngest daughter in the Minamoto family, Hikaru, disguised as a samurai and pretending to be her brother, departs on a long journey in a quest to for the gem. Together with her faithful bodyguard, Watanabe no Tsuna, she finds herself caught up in many adventures, acquiring companions who join her for the quest. She encounters a handsome sarugakushi named Mansairaku and also an enigmatic onmyoji, Abe no Seimei, and experiences countless unpredictable incidents. Hiding her feelings toward Mansairaku, Hikaru gradually gets involved in a great battle ?
 19. AonE has released episodes 4 & 5 and I've watched 4 already. I wasn't expecting
Kawara, Nagatomi, and Ishimatsu to all die T_T.
Episode 5 should be done by early tomorrow morning. *kills dial-up* I was thinking about the Sunflower Samurai and wondered who he might be. Could he be Fuu's father or brother? Maybe someone who killed her family? The reason that she knows nothing about him but the way he smells is probably because (as they say in the deodorant commercial) "scent is the strongest sense tied to memory" and whatever happened most likely happened when she was very very young. So, who do you think the Sunflower Samurai is?
 20.
Yes, impatience has led me to stick with Lunar's fansubs. ^_^;; Haha, my favorite part of episode 4 was the scene during which
Kanbei said "I'm in love!" to Kyuuzou simply for the sake of catching him off-guard. While Kanbei may not be capable of defeating Kyuuzou in a fair fight, his various (not particularly dirty) tricks--such as hurling a volley of metal poles at Kyuuzou's head--certainly helped to increase his odds.
~Dagger~
I don't really like Lunar's subs. They translate Mikumari-sama as Dowser-sama. What the hell is a dowser? Not saying I know the translation of mikumari, but that just sounds dumb. I also don't like how they have Masamune and Kikuchiyo speak with slang. I hate slang lol. So my episode 3 is Lunar, but I got A-Keep & ANBU for #4 because they do a much better job, in my opinion. I might redownload 3 from them. It caught my attention that they sometimes call Kikuchiyo "Kikunoji" instead. Does any know what the difference is? So, as I expected, Kyuuzou is awesome. He is probably my favorite character so far. Gorobei is pretty cool too, but I don't like his weird scar and his yellow MC Hammer pants lol. Katsushirou and Kirara seem to be getting closer in episode 4. I wonder if that will turn into anything? *ponders* I hope not. Kambei is still as cool as ever. I think he was lying to Kyuuzou about being able to defeat him. No one can beat Jesus Samurai. When Kambei said that he loved Kyuuzou, I got kinda scared that this was gonna turn into a shounen-ai anime, but that quickly changed... or did it? I got lucky with Peace Maker Kurogane that nothing toooo weird happened. Can't wait for 5 and 6!!!
 21.
Seeing episodes 3 and 4 (especially episode 4!) instantly made Samurai 7 into one of my favorite anime of the current season. Dan, Kyuuzou is just too cool for words. He has that lovely semi-evil personality which I never seem to tire of, no matter how many male characters possess it. ;) Plus, the fight between him and
Kanbei
is really quite breathtaking, equal to or even better than the kind of action that Samurai Champloo regularly dishes out. I like this show's script and sly sense of humor as well as its visual richness--it's got a whole lot going for it, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next set of episodes. ~Dagger~
What sub group are you following for Samurai 7? I downloaded 1 and 2 from Anime-Keep, but I don't know who else is doing the series. EDIT: I should've checked Lunar before posting that. lol *downloads* I can't wait till these are done. :)
 22. I changed my picture on myO last night and it seemed to have worked fine. When I went to my site this morning, it was back to the old picture. Now when I try to upload a new one, it doesn't change at all. I don't know if this will help at all, but that was the first time I changed my picture since I registered in August. Thanks.
 23.
Yeah, it would take a lot to make me give this series another shot. I can tolerate certain types of fanservice--for example, The Melody of Oblivion is brimming with shapely women and strongly suggestive camera angles. However, the show as a whole deals with some powerful sexual symbolism, and so the fanservice not only avoids feeling incongruous, but also contributes significantly to MoO's overall atmosphere. I just didn't see that in Kono Mini. The nudity irked me becuase it was random and basically pointless. I couldn't connect with any of the characters, and the artwork wasn't really my type of thing. For a while I felt tempted to continue watching Kono Mini in hopes that its entire cast would die brutally horrible deaths... but sadly I don't think such an event occurs. ;)
I agree that the nudity is random and unnecessary, but they really tone it down after episode 6. The second half of the series has barely any blatant fan-service like that because it is getting more into the story. I'm not gonna tell you whether or not everyone dies, though. haha
 24.
I just saw episode 3 (AnimeONE baby! I hope they don't take very long to translate episode 4...), and w00t w00t the scene with Jinn dressed as a girl... Was errr... interesting to say the least. Watching him "play" the shamisen was pretty funny too. I'm really looking forward to seeing the conclusion of the battle between Jinn and Mugen (whether they really battle at all that is ).
Just finished watching it, too. Good episode. There were some really funny parts in this one: Mugen biting on the crab, Jin dressed like a girl, and then him playing the shamisen like you said. I don't think they'll end up fighting since Fuu always stops them. Maybe they'll fight a little bit since she's trapped in that cage and can't intervene, but I'm sure they'll stop anyway. If you can remember from waaaaay back, AonE released 1 and 2 at the same time, so maybe 4 will be here very soon. I just hope they catch up.
 25.
thanks for the information on Champloo, Hittokiri Zero, it sorta makes more sense now, and sorry i didn't mention this before but does anyone know how 'champloo' is meant to be pronounce? I thought at first that it would be like 'Shampoo' but then realize that Japanese phonetic does not have double 'o's that pronounce to 'u' sound and that the closest to double 'o' that I can think of is instances like Ho-oh, kyo-oh and Ookami, where the 'o' is stretched. So what how does the word 'champloo' sound? like a literal english pronouncement or following the Japanese phonetic?
If you look at the katakana that they write the title with, it says サムライ チャンプルー or "sa-mu-ra-i cha-n-pu-ruu." If you're familiar with Japanese, you know that an N sound before a B, M, or P makes the sound of an M. So, then you have "champuruu" and pretty much everyone knows that Japanese doesn't have the L sound so they use an R for it instead. With that, I'd say the correct way to say Champloo would be: cham-ploo (CH sound - not SH, and the A pronounced like you would say it in "okitA." =P :) Hope that wasn't too much. lol EDIT: That katakana probably won't display on everyone's computers so I attached a jpg of how it's written for anyone overly interested. lol
