I searched to see if there was a thread on this Gainax series since I have been too busy with work to come to OB anymore and... no thread!!! For some reason, not a lot of people are watching this. It's a real shame because Kono Mini is a really great series. The 12th and final episode just recently aired and it ended a bit unexpectedly for me. T_T Well, I'm going to tell you all about the series so you might become interested enough to download the batch files on gotwoot. Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai translates to "This Ugly and Beautiful World" and follows the story of Takemoto Takeru and several friends who work together at Takeru's Uncle's business. One night Takeru and Ryou find a girl in a coccoon of light stuck in a tree. He names her Hikari (... it means "light") and brings her home with him. It turns out that no one, not even Hikari herself, knows who she is, where she came from, or why giant monsters continue to attack her. Most of the episodes follow Takeru showing Hikari what it's like on Earth and him protecting her from monsters with his newfound transforming ability. As another young girl appears in the woods, the group begins to wonder what their reasons are for being here. Hmmmmmm.... Watch Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai! If you saw a few episodes and got turned away because of the fan service and bits of nudity, give it another chance because there is a really great story mixed in there. You'll definitely get attached to the characters in this anime, at least. I'm hoping for a sequel. :)

I've been waiting for AonE to release episode 3 for a long time, too. I'm really hoping they didn't stop subbing it. Like many have stated, episode 2 wasn't as good as episode 1. Oniwakamaru reminded me of Jinenji from InuYasha a bit... another big ugly guy that everyone's afraid of, but it turns out he's got a bigger heart than them all. Eh. *waits impatiently* [b]Edit:[/b] How strange. As soon as I finished posting here, I went to gotwoot.net and Samurai Champloo #3 was up. Nice.

I've seen both of the currently released episodes and I also really enjoy the series so far. Kambei and Katsushiro are cool characters and I've seen the remaining samurai on the [URL=http://www.samurai-7.com]official website[/URL]. Kyuuzou seems pretty interesting... he was in the dark room where Ukyo's father was talking to everyone about "the era of the samurai is dead." Kikuchiyo, the robot samurai, is kinda dumb, though. So Samurai 7 is airing "bi-weekly," but they are playing two episodes at a time. I don't really understand the reasoning behind this.

It's used specifically for making (animated) cursors and icons. MicroAngelo is such a basic program that you can't really do much with it... almost everything has to be made from free drawing.

I've been making these for our web site and I figured I'd show you how some of them are turning out. Some of them are turned to make them more useful as cursors (Leaf, Cloud, Uchiha fan). I really like Naraku's voice (Paul Dobson) from the English dub of InuYasha. The weird thing about it is that he also does Myouga's voice. :twitch: By the way, I don't think that Richard Cox even comes close to Kappei for the InuYasha role. I don't like the fact that they made InuYasha use English slang for his parts. Corny. For seiyuu, I'd say that I love Orochimaru's voice from Naruto (see pale guy in my sig and ava). I think the guy just goes by Kujira.His voice is really creepy and almost sounds a little bit like an old woman who's been smoking all her life. =P

Wow. I spent so much time on this damn thing. I love it, though. All the Japanese text was either made by me or was cropped from screencaptures on the official Naruto website. *dies of hand cramps* The whole banner was made to resemble a set of cards that Yakuushi Kabuto carries with him that displays all of the rookie ninjas taking an exam. I created this while looking at screencaps of the cards for Rock Lee and Gaara. Enjoy! :) Yes, I [i]did[/i] make everything on it except for the original pictures of Dosu, Kin, Oro, and Zaku EDIT: To help everyone understand:[list] [*]It says "Sound" at the top middle because that is the country that Zaku is from. [*]Next to that it says "Zaku-Abumi" in Japanese. [*]Under the three pictures, it says "Dosu-Kinuta, Kin-Tsuchi, Orochimaru," signifying Zaku's team and sensei. [*]The lettering in the two rectangular bars says... I have no idea ^_^' Those are ones I traced over from Lee's card. [*]The A B C D thing is the four rankings of missions that a ninja has performed and then the number they have completed. Since Zaku is a low-level ninja, he has only completed C and D missions. Oh, and above that, I have no idea what that says either... traced it. [*]Finally, the music note also represents where he is from (village, not country), The Hidden Sound Village. [/list]

This could turn out to be a good banner. Usually when you use one black and white picture, you should make the whole banner black and white. That picture of Kaji sticks out too much, not to mention it's not cropped correctly. Also, the transparent picture of Asuka overtop of the other one should be taken out completely. It looks really strange. Other than that, the text needs work and that's it. Not too bad, I guess.

I'll try and help you make this better for a Paint banner. :) First, I think the picture is cropped too low. It looks awkward to have his face cut off at the bottom while, at the same time, showing so much of the top of his head. For the text, I would say to use a dark blue color and a much more attractive font. Also, the placement of the text looks slapped on. Try to work with better positioning. Borders aren't always necessary on banners, but if you want to add one it wouldn't hurt. If you are using Paint, just zoom in and draw a one pixel black border, or you can try and mess with the rectangle tool. After all of that, save the file as a jpg. Even though it will still be grainy, it should look better than a gif. EDIT: Actually, the boards now allows bmps as attachments so use that extension instead. With some time spent, you can make good Paint banners.

So I was looking through the Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker manga and saw this picture of Tetsu. I immediately wanted to do something with it but I wasn't sure what. Well, I put it in Photoshop and started out with putting a half-transparent, half-grey gradient overlay. Then I deleted all the gradient that was covering Tetsunosuke. After that I decided to just start coloring him, added some text at the bottom, and ended up with what you see now. I wanted the coloring to be very subtle. :) The text is actually from episode 23, although the picture is from early on in the series [spoiler]when Tetsu saves Saya from the mean men =P[/spoiler]. But anyway, people have an obsession with hoodless Kiba because he doesn't look like a caveman. Also, when he's got the hood on, he looks maybe five years older and is always mean looking. Hoodless Kiba is much improved and I hope he never puts it on again. Edit: The attachment explains it all.

I've been fairly interested in [b]Samurai Champloo[/b]. I don't really know much about the series except that it's supposed to be a samurai anime with a hip-hop twist... similar to how Cowboy Bebop was. Actually, some of the guys who worked on CB (ie: Shinichiro Watanabe, Dai Sato) are doing Samurai Champloo, so it only makes sense. The story follows Jin, Fuu, and Mugen, three samurai that do whatever it is they do lol. It says on the [i][b][URL=http://www.samuraichamploo.com/]official site[/URL][/i][/b] that it's supposed to start May 19, 2004. I HATE SHINO! He is easily the worst character in the entire show. He has the worst character design: dumb glasses, ugly hair, stupid jacket, horrible personality. STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM! So... I've seen pictures of all the parents but I haven't seen them in the anime or manga yet. I'm just not that far yet. InoShikaChou!!!

So I realized I haven't posted anything in this forum in a long time and I had a funny idea, so I put those two things together and created what you see below. Alot of people may not get it unless they are familiar with Naruto. Ah yes, I remember when I forced you to draw Orochimaru and Hayate. They're good! Maybe I'll force you to draw more... mwahaha.... You shall draw Gaara, Shikamaru, Kiba (w/o hood), and Dosu. Come on now! Get to work! lol I'm just kidding, but you are a good artist, Cory.

I was on an FY site yesterday and found out that there is a new manga called Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden. It follows the story of the Priestess of Genbu and her adventure inside the book around the early 1900s. From what I've read it seems like a lot of it is linked to what happens to Miaka and Yui in the future. Anyone know anything about Genbu Kaiden?

I would like to see Naruto licensed by ADV. I've seen a lot of ADV's work on On Demand Digital Cable... it seems as though they've got a thing going there with the digital cable companies. Also, ADV isn't afraid to use swear words (think Saiyuki), but I have a feeling that they will tone down the language in the dub whenever that happens. Other than ADV, I guess Viz would be an ok company for Naruto. As long as they don't use InuYasha's voice (also Ranma, Quicksilver from X-men Evo) for a main character... I'm kinda sick of his voice. But yes, Viz makes sense because they have Shounen Jump licensed, which the Naruto manga appears in. Both of these companies do fairly well with English vocal tracks. Well, I suppose I would be happy to see Naruto in English regardless of the company that buys it. I've still got my sub-titled versions if the dubs are atrocious, though =P

Ok. So I put the cursor in Paint and saved it as a gif with the names leaf_cursor.ani and as leaf_cursor.cur. They at least show up as possible files that can be used. But, now when I try to change it to one of those in the mouse options, it won't load them. The icons for them don't show thumbnails of the images either... so I don't know what's going on... Oh and it's not a problem with the size of it either because the one I'm using now (I got it from a website) is bigger in dimension and in kilobytes.

I believe "kurenai" means crimson in japanese. A character from Naruto has the name Kurenai and I am quite sure that that is what it translates to. Edit: I just checked on the about.com english-japanese dictionary and it says that both "kurenai" [I]and[/I] "beni" mean deep red or crimson. So basically that says "Crimson Crimson..."

I'm trying to make my own mouse pointer and have realized that I don't know what I'm doing. I made it in Photoshop and saved it as a gif so the the opacity would stay. One problem though, mouse pointers have to be either [I].ani[/I] or [I].cur[/I]. I don't believe I have a program that can save files as either of these two extensions. Can anyone help me out? I attached a picture of the pointer to give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about
