Anime (US/CAN) General thoughts and ratings for .hack//SIGN 15, "Evidence"
juna replied to Shy's topic in Otaku Central
[CENTER][B]6.5/10[/B][/CENTER] What can I say? I liked the episode. I'm really not too much of a fan of recaps, however they did mix in some new parts, some expansions on what was shown before, as others have stated above (I love my DVR). I didn't give the episode a low grade because it was a recapper, but because it was a rather -
I say, the more forums the better - OB does a good job keeping the threads on topic..what could it hurt? ^_^

Laf - the grass is always greener. When I was 16 - I wanted to be 18. When I turned 18 - I couldn?t wait for 21. 25 hit this year and I want to be 16 again. Age is funny, most kids now a days (kids in this statement referring to anyone with "teen" suffixed to their age), are maturing at a faster rate through being exposed to social and technological "advances". The only thing being 18 offers a person anymore is the ability to legally buy cigarettes. *Enter sarcastic woo-hoo* the same thing for 21, *Wow, I get to go into a bar* I don't know about anyone else, but I was offered drinks well before I ever stepped foot inside a bar (No, I'm not promoting "under age drinking") *evil grin* Age is not a definer as to who we are, just in some cases what bonehead things we are allowed to do.

The pictures look good for a beginner. Be careful of proportion and expression. I would even maybe suggest start by practicing with shapes and making them look 3d - as the pics look a bit flat. Maybe even get a drawing pad, paper w/o lines through it: lines like those always detract from the image. Another tip (non-graphic related) would be to be careful with the double postings. You can use the edit button in your original posts if there is something you would like to add to the content without creating a new entry. You did it a couple times in this thread... ^_^

Eh, I've been getting that error during the past week now off and on - seems like they are just working on some database updates/upgrades for the boards. ^_^

Armadillomon, I think this is a very nice first attempt. You have a nice sense of arrangement and I can tell a lot of work was put into making those banners, plus you did it in MSPaint? One suggestion would be, when using MSPaint for banner design, especially when first starting off, is less is more. You can't really negotiate layers and transparency levels (sorry for any misspells), so you really want to opt for the basics. Once you get the hang of it you can start to incorporate several pictures into one single banner. Maybe just focus on one image, or two, and make sure that the pixel resolution is clear, meaning: make sure you can make out what the pictures really are. Looks like you already made yourself a banner fan in Wormmon's Tamer also - great job. ^_^ Edit: Oh ya, also try saving your pic's in a differant file format other than bmp (bitmap). JPeg's or Gif formats work 'de best.

Ah well, here goes... Did it lastnight before I went to seepies... the picture is actually a bit larger then what is showing; Where's the magic growing beans when you need some? I'm glad this thread got started up again - very nice, very nice - I *love* doodling like this. Hope this pic isn't too large to just use image tags... I like the Love Hina one a bit better - don't get me wrong - this one is cool too - just a bit on the plain side. ^_^

Well, Im playing around alot with photoshop today, just wanted to know what anyone thought of my new banner. Not sure if anyone really remembers, but I just changed it today from a kinda plain and boring Juna inspired Banner...decided to mix it up a bit with some Saiyuki: shrug. What do you think- I promise I won't cry. ^_^ [IMG]http://www.otakulab.com/saiyukiOBbanner.gif[/IMG]

I love it Dark - Love Hina is one of my fave series... I really like the faded scope in the background too.. ^_^ Nice job.
-
Sora - I like the third banner the best. The fourth pic is a bit hard to make out, but still, MUCH better then the first one. ^_^ Sara - the font was Harrington.

Happiest moment: Getting current job :: tied with :: first time holding my sister's son. Pressured: To have a kid of my own (Leave me alone MOM - Ill have one when I'm ready!) ^_~ Saddest: My grandfather passing. He could always make us all laugh, I miss him terribly.
-
Saiyan, I love the banner. The blend is pretty fresh behind Otaku Boards...and who can argue with Vash? *yummy*

Took me a minute to decipher *what* was hanging out of that mans mouth... ~whew~ just a plug. Stogie's on the desk and shag carpet, my kind of office... ^_~

Maybe what you want to try is adding a drop shadow or a stroke line to the outline of the font itself, the colour is nice, it just needs to pop out from the banner, right now it's a bit hard to read. Ex. [IMG]http://www.otakulab.com/TestingFont.gif[/IMG]

Look at his little feet, ~this little piggie went to market~ awwwwww, how cute! Congradulations on becoming a mommy, I hope all goes swimmingly for you and the little one. My sister just had a little one herself, they can be a handful, but I can see that she would want nothing more from life, it's nice to watch them together. How far along are you now? Being I have yet to become a mommy, I dont know what the size in the ultra sound is equivilant to in gestation months....

Attempt number dos; and with no pink...tee-hee. ^_~ Comments always welcome... Dark: I really like your banner - only thing the font is a bit too small for normal folk to read, very imaginitive though. I like the blue power aura around his hand too... ^_^ [IMG]http://otakulab.com/otakuboardsbanner4.gif[/IMG]

Damn you're good. Even through your rough drafts you can see character expression. I love them! Can't wait to see more of your work. ^_^

Laf - you ready for this...luggage and a new camera (back in 96). Yup - my parents gave me bags to pack and a camera to take pictures of where ever I ended up. I think they got a huge kick out of it, cause they still bring it up every now and then. Are you planning on going to college? If so, maybe they can get you some dorm furniture, or..I dunno, luggage and a camera.. ^_~ Oh, and if your friends parents need to get rid of any more money - please pass on that I would also like a new car. ^_^
-
Nod - very nice sketch...how long does it take you to do somefin like that? I love the eyes and hair - great job. ^_^

The colouring isnt too hot on this: even not counting all the white space, it just looks sloppy - whomever coloured it might have been afraid of the chains getting lost in the black if they coloured in the whole background that way, shrug. I really enjoyed looking over your original much more. Still love it though... ^_^

Aight, here is my first attempt at a banner for OB. Help me get better - your opinions on what I should work on. Let's all be gentle with the feedback though... ^_~ [IMG]http://www.otakulab.com/otakuboardsbanner2.gif[/IMG]

Eeesh, I don't want to be the squasher of this thread with a weird question. The answer for the curious, Horse Racing... Alright Alex, ~Looks over board wearily~ I'll take Animation for 800. Question: Which comics were banned in Finland because the character didn't wear any pants? [COLOR=darkred]EDIT: Actually, just googled it [URL="http://www.snopes2.com/disney/films/finland.htm"][/URL] to make sure, and I've been believing in a lie. *Shakes head in shame and disbelief* The answer was Mr. Duck though, so...carry on..*sniff, sniff* // Double checks first question \\ *whew* all set: "He is going to win hands down." ~Jockeys let their hands down to relax the tension on the reins, when victory seems assured.[/COLOR]

Wow, this has been some interesting reading. Vicky, if you are still interested in learning about how to do things, as a couple people above mentioned, there is a lot of material on the web that is just waiting for newbies new to the Internet/Computer/Graphics field to read over and to learn from. The first thing you have to understand is you are the only one that is going to be able to make yourself learn these things and while people are always here to help, you have to have that thirst for knowledge on your own. Try to look up your questions online, I?ll PM you with some sites that are GREAT for people just starting off. Also keep in mind that there are people that can use computers and the Internet well, people that cannot, people that don't even want to try and there are also people that think they know how to use them better then they actually do. Honestly, the Internet for Dummies book isn?t that bad - I cracked it open when I was starting off and it taught me quite a bit - and anything it didn't go over - or I still had questions about - I learned how to research it out on the web. You're not a Dummy for wanting to learn about stuff and reading books (even if the titles are less then to our liking) and online resources to guide you to your answers, but you must be willing to take that step. Also - don't give up. The Internet and computers can get very confusing, but the rewards once you learn how to do something for yourself, as in anything, are great. If you have any questions on stuff, you can PM me without having to post your questions here; I'll try to help as much as I can, but you must also try to help yourself. One more thing: You would be surprised by the number of people that call me all the time that can't get connected, can't open a browser, have no clue about how to read, open or send email, basic questions on web design, or coding...the list goes on. There ARE ALWAYS beginners. Keep your chin up; you'll get the hang of it if you keep at it. ^_^
