I think we've got enough of that going on already. A measly 1/10th of the population NOT doing it is probably a good thing. So therefore, being gay is justified. It's so we don't all overpopulate the world! *end discussion*
Originally posted by TheEsca ...not just the emo-pop bands like All-American Rejects, or dashbord confessional...
Just becuase Dashboard won an MTV2 award and gets air time doesn't make him pop. I like emo a lot, however, I can't listen to it all the time becuase then it makes me want to cry. *sobs*
Originally posted by Mystik It is mostly just genetic, not choice. I am not offended by gays, I just don't want one coming up and hitting on me. *shudders*
You know, this is the common misconception that probably fuled homophobia to be what it is today. Gay people don't hit on every guy they see. We're the same as straight people. You don't go around hitting on every girl you see. And you know what, gay guys are probably way more cautious about it anyway. We can tell if your gay or your not. It's one of our many "secret" powers. And another thing, people should stop refering to us as "gays" It so sterile and bland. You might as well call us "THE gays" like it's our name. Gay people or the Gay populous will do just fine thanx. Or even better, how about Chris. ;)

^^ One of the more intellegent things I've heard all day. Thanx! ;)
Originally posted by MarkM 49% of the worlds population is homosexual....so thats saying that they cant get marrired in america iths Bull***t!!! what makes the oter 53% so da*n special..... its sooo stupid!
Where did you get that statistic? What yur saying is just about 1/2 the population of the world is Homosexual? I think not. It's been proven that 1 out of every 10 people is gay, so that doesn't equal out to 1/2 but more like 1/10.

Depends on whether or not I feel strongly enough about the topic to want my opinion heard, or whether I have any interest about whats being discussed to add my two cents...

I've been able to bite my tongue up untill now becuase I didn't want to turn this into another argument, but I think you shouldn't go around spouting all this religiouse nonsence and then in the same post say your a horrible person and a bigtime sinner. There's no way anyones going to take you seriously now. How can you claim to share the same views as Christianity and then also say that you clearly don't follow them. And one more thing, I belive Christianity teaches that sex isn't supposed to be fun and sex without the purpose of procreation is a sin. So it's all or nothing sweety. Either you follow all of Christianty's teachings or you don't. But in that case, don't go around professing things in the name of it when you pick and choose what you want to believe.

Today I asked a bunch of my gay and lesbian friends what their thoughts on Gay Marriage was and a lot of them said that they thought it was a stupid thing, the idea of marriage anyway. What they all are fighting for is the same benefits that married couples receive, not the right to marry. I think thats a good point. Marriage is a straight thing.

I would also like to make one final comment. I'm not trying to berate Christianity in anyway, nor am I saying it is any less valid than anyone elses religion. But religion should not and does not have a place in deciding a debate like this. Personal beliefs are subjective and not shared by everyone in the world and therefore should not be included in this discussion. I thought it was rude how Justin said that if two gay people were to get married, they should not be IGNORANT and think that it was approved by his God. I considor that to be flamming and just as bad as insulting someone directly, which I did not do, although everyone seems to think I did. If he feels he should be allowed to say something about Christianity and Christian beliefs, than i should as well. Then it occured to me that the moderators here seem to get away with a lot more than everyone else does. For example, and I hope that he doesn't take this personally at all becuase I agreed with 100% of his post, but Transtic Nerve used several cuss words as well as said that "If you think this country should be run on religious ideals, you should be shot." Eventhough I agree, but not nearly to that extreme a point, that is way worse than anything I said. If you can't hold every member of this board to the same standards, then you need to rethink your rules or those who enforce them. So those were my gripes and now that I've said them, I won't bring them back up.
Originally posted by DarK DeatH Also, how can you judge what is "righteousness" and what is not?
You can't and thats the point I was making.

I'm not trying to "use your own sword against you," as you put it, but making a point about how hypocritical Christianity can be sometimes. I like that part about how it's ok to judge just so long as your judging righteously. Seems kinda like their trying to cover their own behinds. :) Anyway I think this thread has now violated your preciouse rules, so go ahead and lock it. Heaven forbid that I keep you from doing your job. ;)
Originally posted by DarK DeatH Hmm... I'm not favorable to it... I mean, according to crhistianism, God made man and woman, and those are supposed to make couples and have children and all... I think that "gay" is like, breaking that thing... I don't know how to explain, but in my opinion, it is not right.
"Judge not lest ye be judged." Your bible teaches some intellegent things. =D Btw, I think it's "Christianty" not "Christianism".
-
^^ It has less to do with that than you think. It's more a matter of equality. The world is essentially saying your gay so therefore we're going to treat you different becuase of it and not let you have the same luxerise that people who are straight can enjoy. It's a matter of pride. *haha*
Originally posted by Justin But I don't care to see this turn into a gay-bashing or Christian-bashing session. If it turns into either or both, I will close it.
I think that this is turning into a good discussion so be curtiouse to us and don't threaten to lock down threads becuase you feel threatned by what might be said.
Originally posted by Justin ...they're not ignorant enough to think it's authorized by the same God I serve.
I acctually found this to be a very insulting and bigitouse statement. Marriage is a ceremony for the community, not for the two individuals involved. It is to show everyone else how seriouse a commitment you are making to eachother, but you don't need to get married to love someone. Nor do you need "your" Gods permission. Christianity teaches that God loves all of his children equally. It's resorting to play-ground tactics by saying "My God said..." whatever. Not to mention its hypocritical for God to make people one way and then shun them for it. If this is the way your God works, then he's someone I wouldn't want to worship.

Implying that to be American, one has to be Christian is hypocritical of everything America is supposedly built on. Being gay, I personally see nothing wrong with gay marriage. People need to learn to worry more about themselves and less about others.

I must admit, at first I didn't like it either. But first you gotta understand that in Japan, people are obsessed with pushing the boundaries. Take CLAMP for example, EVERY one of their works has some sort of taboo or homosexual thing in it, even Card Captor Sakura. In things like JROCK, most of the singers are androgynous or cross-dressing males who play hard death metal type music and have an all female fan base. Personally, I just think there's something intriguing about it.
Originally posted by pbfrontmanvdp I mean im not going to understand the Japanese culture since i dont live their so why not make the dubbed version deal with the American culture. Lol this may not make sense but im not really sure on how to word this, but i gave it a shot.
And why not forcefully assimilate the rest of the Native American culture into ours to make it easier? American people are always looking for a way to make it easier for themselves. Anime is JAPANESE cartoons so translating it to english defeats the purprose. The only reason people started doing it was because someone got tired of reading subtittles. ALL american voice actors, and I do mean all, can never match the same skill that the Japanese voice actors have. Over there, it's a real career. They go to school for it and are highly respected for what they do. Over here, it's a joke. Further more, translating it to English is insulting. They do a bad job. I will never watch a dub anime for the rest of my life. There's just no point. And while I'm already ranting, I hate Cartoon Network for not showing anime in it's entiret; ESPECIALLY when they go out of there way to change the story. DBZ was ok because there already isn't much plot in it, but in sailor moon, good god, they ruined the first season which is the best one! Everyone dies at the end in the Japanese version and it's really sad, but in the English one, they all get "captured" and then realised. It's sick. And taking away Uranaus' and Neptunes obviouse homosexual relationship was just as bad. I hate to break it to them, but making them cousins just makes it SCREAM insest to me.

For those interested, it's based on the biblical story of the Tower of Babel. The animation was beautiful and the music was kewl, but the story was awful. There was no charector developement so you had no real idea of the depth of the relationships each charector had with eachother. I didn't like it at all...

Akira was a manga, like 75% of all anime, long befor it was a movie. It came out in the late 70's early 80's and has sence been translated into english. You can find it just about anywhere that sells books like Barnes and Nobles or Boarders. The mangas a LOT longer than the movie and I recomend it to any Akira fans. That movie kicks *** btw.

^^ It's popular just like speaking English over there is popular; especially so in the Visual Kei scene. There are so many bands with French names it's scary.
Originally posted by KnightOfTheRose That was the first Japanese song I've ever heard. It sucked. God. If I had to judge this band by that song alone, I'd sincerely hope that there are better Japanese band out there than that.
I guess you'll never know... Semjaza Azazel, if your looking for a band with it's own style, I HIGHLY recommend Dir en Grey, seeing that you have a Marilyn Manson avatar. There's nothing like them anywhere else in Japan. Recommended Songs: Filth, Raison D'etre, HYDRA, Zan, Zomboid, Pink Killer.

So do I, but I'm still a JRocker. =D

^^ There's a grey area between ROCK and POP in Japan called Visual Kei! :) They sound like the group Wyse. BTW, I tried d/ling some mp3's by a group called "Surface" and it was disturbing... I guess you and me are the only two JRockers here! =D
Originally posted by OtakuSennen 2) Fukai Mori Who sings it? Whoever it is, she's good...
If your talking about the song from Inu Yasha, the songs by a group called "Do As Infinity." I'd suggest checking them out, there good.
