Anime Demons, witches, and spirits, Oh my...In anime that is!
Originally posted by AzureWolf O_o Did you read my post completely? I mean, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, since I do tend to rant on and on like that. However, I think you missed the point. "Love conquers even God" was a theme I was willing to watch, but it turned out only to hold ignorance and an extreme misnomer. The identity of God was targetted to a being that does not match close enough to any version of "God" besides Zeus, which is from a polytheistic environment. Clearly, Angel Sanctuary is based upon on a monotheistic one, and NONE of the monotheistic religions hold such a flawed view of God (by flawed, I mean just that: the idea that God is flawed).
Kaori Yuki wrote a story that is based loosley on Christian teachings. Whether or not she depicts God in the way that he is "supposed" to be is irrelevent; the story is fantasy. She took events and charectors from the bible and used them to create her own story. Personally, one of the things that makes it so creative and original is the fact that they take God, who is the embodiment of all good, and make him, as u said, flawed. Of course everyone isn't going to like the story, especially those who follow the bible becuase it is a perversion of everything that the bible is intended to represent. But that doesn't make her ignorant about anything. As for the topic of the thread, I don't see how talking and reading about Demons and Monsters should have any impact on a person's spiritual beliefs. It's a different story if a person belives what they read, but speaking about them, to me, shouldn't be "taboo". -
^^ I don't think that they mentioned anything about A****aka's tribe becuase it didn't relate to the movie. The point was that he was banished, so the story followed him as he left the tribe.

X gave birth to what we today call "Visual Kei". They were the pioneers of the entire genre and I will always have special place in my Jrock-heart for them. Sadly enough, Hide died on my birthday though... =( One of my fav. songs is "Forever Love" which was used as the ending theme for the X movie; how ironic huh.
Originally posted by Lady Asphyxia However, my favorite mythological creature is the Selkie. A female Selkie can shed her skin and come ashore as a beautiful woman. When a man finds the skin, he can force the Selkie to be a good, if somewhat sad, wife. Should she ever recover the skin, she will immediately return to sea, leaving her husband behind.
I'm assuming you've seen the movie "Ron Inish" then?
Originally posted by RPCrazy I've always liked Cerberus, Satan's monsterious three-headed dog that guards the gates of Hell.
Cerberus belongs to Hade's not Satan. Two different Mythologies. >_<

Inapropreate things in movies make them more worth watching becuase life is full of inapropreate things. As for the voice actors, I've noticed a theme in dubbed anime where they use the same voice actors all over the place, much like they do in Japan...only a lot worse...

What I don't understand is why people have to compare fantasy movies to the real world. "Well, that movie had demons in it and I don't approve." Why can't people just open their minds and understand that it the charectors in the movies live in a different world with different rules. That's why it's fantasy. It's exciting to think "what if..."

It's better than all the training that you have to go through to become a pop-idol. It's an insanely visciouse industry over there, kinda of like becoming a super model here.

I would go with the Phoenix instead of the dragon, it's just more majestic. But elves beat the phoenix hands down, especially, like Manic said, how they are depicted in the Tolkien books. Elves are eternally beautiful, always more fair than their human counter parts, and they live so much longer, don't become ill and...yea! They rule.

Anime What's the longest you've gone without anime?
SadClown replied to Moor_Child's topic in Otaku Central
Can I just say "You know your obsessed when..." -
Thats why they made the movies; "Death and Rebirth" and "End of Eva". They're the alternate endings to the series.

I love how people always seem to only know the artists who do songs for anime.

I love all of Burton's films with the exception of Money Bone...not his finest moment. He is the master of the macabre in my humble opinion. A side from TNBC, Sleepy Hollow, Beattle Juice and Batman Returns are among his best. BTW, I thought it was Lock, Shock and Barrel.

I watch Sailor Moon every couple of months and I still love it. I also re-read a lot of different manga like Angel Sanc. and Kare Kano and still love it!

I took TKD for four years but stopped a month before my test for black belt. *sigh*
Originally posted by Jubei Yagyou I dont call them asian call them "oriental", thats a bunch of over protective bull.
I dare you to go up to an Asian person and call them "Oriental." That is so un-PC that you might as well call them "Slanty Eyes," "Sandal-Wearers" or "Rice-Eaters". Not to mention it's bad tact to put your "friend" in the spot light and call him rascist. Rascism is a horrible thing, but like so many people have said, it isn't something that can just be whiped away. Some people are just destined to thing they are better than others based on the way they were born, and it isn't just race; it could be financial institution, intelligence or athletic ability. It's human nature.

Telekinesis..is it real or just a big fake?
SadClown replied to eX_mErcAnerY's topic in General Discussion
Telekinesis is the ability to move objects with the mind, not light fireworks. Whatever you whitnessed wasn't telekinesis, but something else. -
^^ Acctually, from what I read, this one isn't being done by the Wayans Brothers, which is a good thing in my opinion. Instead, it's being directed by the guy who did "Airplane!". In my opinion, the second movie was horrible. It was really short and didn't parady anything that well. I think the Wayan's Brother's forgot that you still have to have a plot, even if you are making fun of something.
Originally posted by tsuzuki None of the others I have seen, and I have seen a lot, come near to it.
You should read Tenshi Kinryoku *ANGEL SANCTUARY* if you like Yami no Matsue.

I didn't like it very much. It was one of those movies that they only made to make money and nothing else. The plot didn't tie into that of the other two movies and half the charectors weren't even in it. It was funny, but in a stupid kinda way... I'd give it a 4/10

^^ Well it's something like that. It has a lot to do with Chi finding out who she really used to be and why she was dumped in the trash in the first place. The art is beautiful. I love it. Another "naughty" work by CLAMP. =D

You should save the crazy drama for emails and PM's, not talking about it where everyone else has to read it.

I thought it was a pretty creepy movie. It definetly wasn't the scariest movie I ever saw, but it was good. I tottaly agree with Transtic Nerve that the Final Destination movies were awful. Any movie that feels it can achieve a good scare level by going overboard on special effects and gore is stupid. It's all about plot that makes a movie scary. When I saw the Japanese version for rent in the movie store and that they had called it "Ringu" I almost wet my pants. They could not have made the tittle for it more corney. It makes us seem culturally ignorant.

^^ They aren't anime. In fact, the creator is Chinese. All I remember about that show was that it had bad animation and and the main charector died at the end of each episode or something like that. It was on the same show was that "Monster in my Head" show or whatever. Anyone remember that?
