While I understand why most Muslim countries don't like Israel (being a Muslim and a Palestinian myself), I am absolutely appalled by Iran's president's assumption that the holocaust is all made up. The holocaust is not made up. Six million innocent Jews have been brutally and unjustly slaughtered. We have their names. And we all must learn form the holocaust that there should be tolerance between races and religions, even though we value different ideals.. Anyway, is America the great Satan? I certainly don't think so. While there are many aspects in western culture that are sinful and 'satanic' in the Islamic point of view, there are also aspects in eastern culture that are also sinful. While Iran's current government isn't very good. It was much worse before. The current leader was at least elected, while the previous leader was a dictator. But for some odd reason, the U.S has a bigger problem with the new government because it is a theocracy. I hate the America?s double standards. If democracy doesn't result in something favorable to the U.S, then the U.S has a problem with it. Honestly, are theocracies that bad, if the huge majority of the people in a country follow a certain religion, and even voted for a theocracy? On to nuclear weapons. I personally think that the Iran is indeed pursuing a peaceful nuclear program. If Iran has the guts to call the America the 'Great Satan', and to deny the fact that 6 million Jews were exterminated in the holocaust, why would they have a problem admitting the fact they were making nuclear weapons? But if the U.S can have nuclear weapons, why not any other country in the world? The U.S has no right to dictate which country can do what. I wish they would butt out of other countries' businesses, especially if those countries have never harmed the U.S. Everyone is afraid of Islamic countries. They fear that Islamic countries want to take over the world. Now, while many Islamic countries are indeed oppressing their own people, they never had interest before in hurting western countries. If western countries had left them alone in the first place, and stopped controlling what they do and, and yes, killing many innocent civilians, there would never have been terrorist attacks on western countries in the first place. I think the best way to have dealt with the Middle East?s internal problems is with peaceful negotiations. And for the U.S to stop using the double standard and to stop only siding with countries that would benefit them, instead of siding with what is truly just in our world. From what I've seen and heard and read in the news, the U.S would prefer to side with a secular dictatorship instead of a peaceful theocratic country. Does anyone else see a problem with this? If the U.S wants to spread democracy, peace, and justice in the world, it better do it right or it will face the consequences. As for the state of Israel, I honestly don't want to start a debate here. I've had enough of them. But one thing I will state is that Israel needs to start treating Palestinians as human beings. I'm not surprised why some Palestinians resort to suicide bombings (even though they are wrong). If Israel wants to truly protect its citizens it needs to treat Palestinians humanely and stop carrying out unjust collective punishments against entire villages because of what one person did. Has anyone noticed that no matter how many security measures Israel takes, Israelis aren't been protected, AND Palestinian civilians are being killed at a higher rate than militants? The number of Palestinian casualties is nearly triple that of Israelis (though that number is pretty big as well) ? and that's without counting militants and suicide bombers. Something is not right here. The Israeli military isn't carrying out its job properly, and the end result is more innocent people on both sides of the conflict being killed. Also, you can't treat an entire population like animals with no feelings, and deny them their basic human rights, without at least some of them retaliating, and also resorting to unjust means at that.

I'm reviving this thread before it gets too old. Please continue posting your most painful experiences ^_^. I have another one: My brother's nail are quite sharp even when they are cut. they just have a sharp edge, while mine are pretty soft and blunt. Once, when his toenails were long he was walking behind me, and his huge feet kept on slamming into the bottom of mine. He didn't mean to do it, he just had a clumsy moment, but his toenails were quite sharp and cut the bottom of my feet a few times. Ow.

I personally have no problem with interacial couples. I think they're pretty cool and end up with pretty nifty looking children. I'm and arab (palestinian to be precise). I thinks its quite laughable how we arabs divide our selves so much. Palestinians prefer to marry paletinians and lebanse prefer to marry lebanese (but interracial arab marriages are very common, especially between lebanese and palestinians, so it's not really taboo). Some people narrow down your race to the city you came from. I meet middle-aged arab ladies, and they ask: "So what country are you from? What region? What city? Which family?" COME ON. Anyway, I remember when my sister's husband first came with his family to meet ours, the adults were all happy that we came from the same city (Ashkalon). I'm just glad that race isn't too big of a deal to arabs though, since most are muslim and care more about whether the the person is a good muslim or not. But some arabs prefer to marry arabs for the sake of their native language. The Quran is in arabic afterall, and children will learn the language better if their parents speak arabic. Others simply want to preserve their culture, though they have no problem with interracial couples.

Two identical twin sisters each had a glass of the same drink. Each glass also had the same amount of drink and poison in them. One sister drank all of her drink immediately, while the other sister took her time. The sister who drank it immediately lived, while the other one died. Why? (Keep in mind that there was no antidote involved and neither of the sisters had health problems, nor were they immune to the poison.)
Were there different poisons in the drinks? One that kills and another that doesn't?

First of all, I want to say that I am not recommending this method, I've just heard from my mother that it worked. My mother used to have a huge problem with warts when she was younger. She was told by her mom's friend that if you wash your hands with the water that was used to bathe a dead person, it would heal her warts (I don't know if non-muslims do this, but muslims wash the dead before they are buried). I know what you're thinking: "EWWWW!" Anyway, my mom actually tried this and it actually worked. Now it might just be a coincidence, but who knows? Maybe a dead person's skin has some sort chemical or something.

Art Why do so many people use photoshop?
DBZgirl88 replied to Chikara Kokoro's topic in Creative Works
Well, I tend to use various programs in image editing. I pretty much use whichever one will get the job done faster, and whichever program I'm used to. I mostly use photoshop for "big image editing". I was introduced to photoshop before paint shop pro, so I like it because I'm used to it. I have nothing really to complain about it. I personally don't like Gimp very much. It has an annoying layout. But a few times I've used it because in certain ways it works differently than photoshop (not neccesarily better, it's just different), and hence that difference would be more useful in a specific project. I made the individual frames of my hiragana animations using gimp because I could work faster with it. I know it would have taken me forever to do the frames in photoshop, and I was able to finish them in about 30 minutes in gimp. Then I put the frames together using 'easy gif animator'. The first time I tried making hiragana animations, I used paint instead of photoshop to edit the frames. I didn't need to worry about quality either because they were balck and white. -

Marriage isn't some romantically holy union with your spouse where the world turns gold and things end happily ever after. Approximately 50% of marriages end in a divorce. Therefore, I can say with certainty that abstaining until marriage, while it's good for some folks, isn't the infallible path to take on the matter.
Well, of course not all marriages end in a happily ever after. Marriage does not have any garantees, but it does help a relationship to be stronger. But also, not all serious premarital relationships have a happily ever after ether. Any serious relationship (in which the couple at least tried to be commited, or one pretended to be commited) could come to an end, whether you're married or not. All, I'm saying is that marriage can legally protect each partner. The only reason to avoid marriage in a serious relationship really, is if you want to be free of any legal matters. Other than that, from a non-religious prespective, I think it's the way to go.

First of all, please lets not turn this into another homosexuality debate. Anyway, being a muslim, I believe that premartial sex is wrong. But rather than rather than express my views from a religious stance, I'll present them in a logical manner. People should only have sex when they feel it is the right time for them. But having sex is a big decision and for one's own good, they should only have sex with someone they truly love. After all, you're sharing your body with them. Why should you have sex with someone, if you won't consider spending your life with them? If you do in fact love someone, you should be willing to live with them, otherwise, that shows you're not really commited to the relationship. So therefore, I will just say that I think people should, for their own good, only have sex with someone they truly love and care for, and are willing to spend their life with. The case of marriage is something legal and or religious. It makes sense to get married to the person you want to spend your life with because it gives you legal rights, and because it lets others outside the marriage recognise your relationship as being sincere. It increases commitment, and by so doing, if any children are born, they will be better cared for because their parents are commited to each other (how many guys leave their girlfriends pregnant?). Being commited in a relationship helps to reduce the risk of STD's because partners, like Sandy mentioned, have probably not have had sex before, and if they did, they are more willing to mention it for their partner's safety.

Actually, I've read somewhere that it isn't always easy to figure out the words. In the example paragragh you provided, if the letters between the first and last were even more jumbled up, it would actually be difficult to figure them out. Then again, the parapragh you provided is pretty jumbled up. Maybe it has to do with which letters are close to each other. Some of the words that end in 'ing' still need to end in 'ing' or at least ng in order to be read. Try jumbling them up more and see how well others can read them after.

I'm a big Miyazaki fan. I think all of his movies are brilliant. My favorites are Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Naussicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and My neighbor Totoro, oh and Kiki's Delivery Service. Heh, heh, I guess that's half of them, but it is hard to choose between so many great films! Anyway, there is one thing that dissapoints me about Miyazaki's films. I am sorry to say that I think the japanese voices absolutely, indefinitely, just plain suck! I normally like the japanese subtitled version of animes versus dubbed animes, but I think the english dubs of Miyazaki's films are much, much better. They are much more expressive, but not in that childish corny way in regular anime dubs. One character in particular that bothered me alot in the japanese version was Chihiro in Spirited. She had such a weak, expressionless voice. I like it alot better in english. In the japanese version of Miyazaki's films, the voices are never loud enough, and people never scream or yell loud enough. There are times when the charcater is completely silent even though he or she should be groaning in pain, or struggling, or giggling, or making some sort of noise. For instance, in Princess Mononoke, when
Ashitaka was struggling to free San from Okoto, he made no sound while he was struggling and fighting with the demon's tentacles (in the japanese version that is). But in the english version he did, he groaned and struggled, and that added emotion to the scene and I liked it better. When Lady Eboshi had her arm chomped off by the Moro's head, she didn't even scream in the Japanese version. What the hell is up with that?
In addtion to boring expressionless voices, they choose completely inappropriate voices for certain characters. Moro is a female wolf. Not male, female. Why on earth does she have a male voice in the japanese version? Why does Kiki's cat have a child's voice when
he ends up having a kid of his own
? Well, actually that's probably common in alot of animes with talking animals, but I still find it weird. But I do like the cat's voice alot better in the english version.

I know of two free and bannerless sites. One is dhost.info, but they expect you to actually have content on your website, and you actually have to explain why they should give you webspace and such when you sign up. But they're good, they give you 100 megs and 300 gigs of transfer! You can try and see if they will let you sign up for the graphics worm. They have a minor brother site called xthost.info, but it only gives you 20 megs, and you can use it simply for hosting if you want. Be careful not to lose the password though, because you can't get it back once you lose it. When you sign up, you just enter a username you want, and they give you password (which you can change later). And make sure to sign in regularily or the site will be deleted for inactivity. Both dhost.info and xthost.info use ftp, and xthost.info uses browser uploads too. I don't know of any free domain hosts though.

I was so confused when I read this theory, and wikipedia made it more complicated. But this website explained it insimple terms: http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci341236,00.html Anyway, this kind of reminds me of something my chemistry teacher one said: "You can only prove the existence of here". So as I'm sitting here in typing away in a school computer, I cannot prove that my house exists, Because I can't see it. And if I get up and go home to see that my house does exist, my house no longer becomes a "there" but only a "here". So therefore, you can only prove the existence of "here".

XXll = ll Vlll Move one line to make the above equation correct.
All right, since no one wants to answer it, I'll give the answer:
Move one line from the 8, the 'VIII', to make it a 7, a 'VII'. This line is turned on its side, and place on top of the 2, or II, to make the symbol for pi. When you calculate 22/7, it apporximately equals pi (3.14).

I'm just wondering, just because the site is down, why can't people keep working on the graphics worm? Can't you put the submissions together after you've gotten the site back up?

By line what exactly do you mean? What constitutes as a line? And is it roman numerals? As in 22/8=2???
Any of those lines consititutes a line. So the two lines in X each constitue a line, the equal sign lines constitute a line, the division line constitutes a line, etc. Yes, it is in roman numerals, so it is saying 22/8 = 2.

I'm Muslim. It simply makes the most sense to me. There is only ONE God. Humans are born without sin, and only accumulate sins throughout their lives. And all those "dumb" rules that God gives us are really for our own good. It's not to make our lives boring and miserable. We'd be happier if we just obeyed these rules. Anyway...
Oftentimes religion is focusing on the life after death (rather than the life you're living), which I find more than a bit ridiculous. Why waste your life wondering "what if", when it is obvious that the answer won't come to you until you're dead?
The thing is, religion does focus on the life we're living. The lives we are living are a means to and end. Just like how a good education is a means to good job in the future. Why shouldn't an elementary schooler work hard in school, even if he has to wait until it's over before moving on to middle school? The child isn't wasting his time wondering "what if?", he's working hard to obtain his future goals. Of course it's dumb to waste time in this life we're living. That's why most religions DON'T want you to waste time. They want you to live a good decent, moral life, to work hard, and to enjoy yourself too (but don't overdo it).

I'm not a huge sock fan. As long as they're comfortable and fit snugly, I'm happy. I hate it when socks stretch and become loose over time, so I purposely try to find small socks. I've been "borrowing" my younger sister's socks, which are quite small, but stretch well. I hate socks with holes in them. I refuse to wear them, because they bug my toes, so much. I get annoyed with little things easily.

I have a suggestion for the member list on myotaku. Why is it that only the top 500 members are displayed on the list? There's over 45000 active myotaku sites, and even those really low on the list may have updated recently. I personally go through the list and try to visit sites that have recently updated, so I think every active site should be listed. Also, it would be nice to arrange the list by most popular, oldest or newest members, and most recently updated. And alphabetical order too.

I'd love to learn to play guitar. My brother took a guitar course in school once and he let me try his guitar, and I can play a few simple tunes. It really hurts my fingers though. It feels like a I can't stretch them far enough. Maybe I should try a smaller guitar. Another obstacle is that I play violin, so I end up holding the guitar handle the way I hold my violin handle. The same thing happened when I tried cello. I can't force my hand to be parallel to the handle, or my fingers to be perpendicular to it, you know what I mean? It keeps going back to my violin hand. Sigh...

1. If your avatar has a character, what race, age (if applicable) and gender is it? Well, mine is just a smiling cat. I'd say it's a kitten at least, so it's young, but I can't tell whether it's male or female. You can't tell its race either. 2. Would you say your avatar is masculine, feminine or both? Why? Both. 3. Does it have mature or childish attributes? Childish attributes definitely. Isn't it cute? 4. What gender and race are you? Arab Female 5. When you meet someone online, unless they specify, do you feel you naturally think of them as white? Yes, if their english online is pretty good. I feel bad about this, but I never thought that Retribution was black (and keep forgetting it too). It doesn't have to do with intelligence or anything (because retri's a pretty well spoken person). It really has to do with accent. When I read words, I can't imagine the words spoken in an accent different than mine, so I can't imagine James' words being spoken in an australian accent (because that's how the words sound like in his head), or Retribution's words 's words spoken in what I call the african-american accent, and hence, I forget about the person's nationality. 6. Do you roleplay? If yes, identify your roleplaying character in terms of race, history, gender and sexual preference. Once, but it wasn't online. I was Vegeta, a male dragonballz character, with a nasty temper and evil tendancies. 7. Have you ever been mistaken for another race or gender or have been asked due to the lack of detail in your profile?I'm usually mistaken for a guy. As for race, no one would really guess I'm an arab, unless I mention it. 8. Have you mistaken others for being of another race, age or gender? How many times? Yes, and too many times to count. There are so many other female members here I mistook for males. And a few males I mistook for females. 9. What does your online nickname mean or how did you come up with it?It's the name mysterious, cool, nifty cat that appears in a certain french children's book. 10. Do you think people online tend to correctly guess your age, race or gender most of the time without being told? No, they don't. 11. Do you think people tend to correctly guess your sexual preference without being told? I guess so. I don't really talk about sexual matters. 12. Would you feel threatened if people online knew your age, gender, race or sexual preference? If so, why? No, I'd rather they did know.

My mom always kept my hair short when I was little, and I had a boyish face back then too, especially when I was a baby. Unless I was wearing a dress, I was usually mistaken for a boy.
